Signals is an extraordinary true story of two friends, both living with AIDS, who make a simple but spiritually challenging pact: whoever dies first will try to contact, or “signal,” the other from beyond. Joel Rothschild, the more skeptical of the two, is the one left behind. His book chronicles a series of miraculous experiences and encounters that tell an amazing story and offer proof of an afterlife. One man’s journey from skeptic to believer, Signals shows that there is far more in heaven and earth than the human mind can comprehend. It’s a powerful story of awakening and transformation that takes readers on an unforgettable adventure.
A short enough book that I read it all at once. The memoir aspect, regarding the friends Joel's lost to AIDS, didn't hold my attention as much as the Joel's own story of receiving messages for others; the title reference to Albert's vowing to communicate from The Beyond got rather lost behind those other two items. Recommended for those interested in the paranormal.
I really enjoyed this book. I read it because Neale Donald Walsch wrote the forward. It was a touching love story with the proof of life after death confirmed.
I just re-read this book; it's quite the tear jerker but it's MARVELOUS in my opinion......it's positively beautiful. I love this book and if anyone who is unsure of what happens after we die need's confirmation that we're all very much angels in the lives of those we love - READ THIS BOOK! If you want a true love story about how death can't separate those of us from one another whom we love - READ THIS BOOK! I needed to remember that death is just a 'part' of life.....it's not an end, it's in many ways the beginning of understanding life.....our journey, our purpose, our mission......whatever you want to call it. I will treasure this book for all time & have never been so blessed and grateful that I am not illiterate and will certainly treasure this book for all time!
This book touched Paulo Coehlo's soul and was described as a wonderful book. This is proven to be true when I started reading it. Now I finished it, it left a faith on me that there's life after life. I felt shivers through reading this book. Every stories of signals he told were unbelievable but you will definitely believe it. It left me crying for a while over lessons in life that you really knew but chose to set aside.
Very well written. I could not put it down! Man with AIDS who suddenly loses the closest person in his life d/t suicide. He is then very angry and grieving terribly for months. He and his partner had made a pact that whoever went first, would let the other know that they 'still existed' by sending "Signals" from the other side. SHORT READ
Short read but so moving and has changed my views of what happens after death. There is so much more to it. Ask me sometime and I'll tell what has happened to me now that I am more aware.
A keeper. One of those books that wakes you up to your own life. 🫶🏻✨ I hope to read this over and over and over again. The day I finished Joel's story, I saw a red throated hummingbird on my evening walk. It's been really cold out lately and I haven't seen them here for months! It felt special. Alberts still here. 🫶🏻 Universal love is here. We just have to be open to seeing the signals. 🫶🏻✨ Thank you for sharing your signals with us Joel.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this but it was recommended after I had a tarot card read. The story was a little all over the place at times and the thread seemed to go back and forth a little. That being said the feelings Joel has are clear and ever present throughout this book. The love is what shines through. His devastation after the death of his friend makes you want to find him and give him a hard hug. I’ve a friend who is HIV positive and today that is no longer a death sentence, this story shows that even when the odds are against you, a positive attitude can make all the difference. This book is about the road we travel and who we take with us that touch our souls. Thank you for sharing Joel ❤️
I read this book because it's on my 100 book list. In The forward Neale Donald Walsxh objects to the Authors use of "As human beings, we are all quite limited in our ability to understand each other's experiences." This statement is about the only thing I do agree with in this book. The experiences that Joel Rothschild has are against my religious beliefs. Don't get me wrong. I believe he had them. But I believe that what he experienced was not from his friend, but from unholy angels.
A week or so after reading this book I took a small break on the porch while working from home; a hummingbird came to me for a brief moment. This had never happened to me before. As soon as it happened I was reminded of the book. I am still wondering what the "signal' is.
It was a decent read regarding someone's paranormal experiences, but I felt there was so much missing. I felt more details in certain experiences he had would've made it more enjoyable. Overall, a quick interesting book.
I liked the book, but I have strong doubts that the author communicated with his friend from the other world. Good description of the life of an AIDS survival, but some intense feelings seemed out of place.
