I never knew I was bi or pan or whatever it is I am until I was almost eighteen. My mom died less than three months before my eighteenth birthday. And though I would have happily stayed in Colorado in our little apartment with the savings Mom had and her life insurance — because I didn’t have a guardian, I had to move to podunk Oregon to finish out my senior year in high school. That's where I met him.

November 20, 2021The land on which Derbyn Hills is built has a history of intolerance, especially for Austin Belmont. Before I could tell the story of Derbyn Hills and what is being built there, I had to tell the story of Austin and how the land effected him.
When Austin was sixteen, Jace moved to town. Jace seemed too good to be true. At first, Austin was sure Jace was just being nice, until their lips touch. Then, all Austin could hope was that the twisted down of Forrester didn't turn Jace against him.

A cute, short novella about two teenagers facing persecution over their sexuality and falling in love. I had a few issues with Austin being only 16 thought, although the sex is minimal, I still felt a bit uncomfortable reading about an eighteen year old making out with boy who is pretty much below the age of consent and described as small and delicate in contrast to Jace being bigger. I think it would have worked better if Austin was 18, and it was set in college.

A sweet story that I really enjoyed. The characters were both pretty young but likeable. A great read.

This was a quick insta-love read.
Jace and Austin have this instant connection, they are pretty cute and adorable together.
Jace is a few months off being 18 and Austin is 16.
I am super curious about them and can’t wait for them to get a full length book of their own in the Derbyn Hills series.
