Out of Reach #4

Beyond the Team

Rate this book
Griffin

All it takes is four days to change my carefully planned-out life. Four days to fall for Peyton Monroe. Four days to convince her to give me… us a chance.

Before her, baseball is the center of my world. Being the best. Getting a full-ride scholarship. Getting drafted. Going pro. But from the moment my frisbee lands at her feet on the beach, I can’t stop thinking about her.

She’s beautiful, funny, smart… and lives thirteen hours away. Long-distance love is a complication I should avoid, but staying away from Peyton is not an option. This goes beyond the team and my love of the game.

Peyton

I’m looking to get away, not searching for love. But it all but lands at my feet on spring break anyway. A beach full of hot guys, and of course I find myself falling for a handsome baseball player.

Griffin Anthony’s charming smile draws me in. We fall hard and fast, but when it’s time to say goodbye, he tries to convince me that we can make this work long distance.

Now I’m torn between following tradition and playing it safe or throwing out the rule book and following my heart across the miles. He wants me to trust our connection. Can I risk my heart?

- Spring break
- Baseball romance
- Long distance relationship
- College romance 19/20 years
- He falls first and hardest (insta-love)
- Dual V (se note under safety)
- No third act breakup

Love the level on communication in this book, how levelheaded they are. Griffin (H) is such a sweetheart and he was so good to Peyton (h).

Safety:
- dual V
- Both have hooked with other people, but never gone all the way. He been with more than her, but not over the top to many.
- One girl tries flirting with H, he rejects her and tells her he has a girlfriend and that he want her to stop touch him. No more drama

All the books in this series have different but similar characteristics for the leads. Nothing different... guy obsessed, girl hesitant, they fall madly in love... 3.75 rating.

I just adore this series- a swoony, feel-good romance with a family I just couldn’t love more. Beyond the Team is the bittersweet final book in the story, with our baby sister finally getting her HEA- and it just couldn’t be cuter. All the butterflies, all the tenderness, and all that Kaylee Ryan swoony magic.

Peyton’s and Griffin’s story starts with a well trodden meet-cute, but from there their story blossoms at it’s own unique pace and arc. This is perhaps more instalove than the other books in the series, but it is equally charming, and Kaylee evolves the emotional connection so sweetly. There’s an authentic and charming connection between these two, and because of the set-up, we get to see some really heart hitting wooing and flirty endearments. Their relationship is just the cutest, inciting all those sweet, first love feelings.

No one writes swoony boyfriends like Kaylee Ryan- and Griffin is just a dreamboat. Kaylee’s men are always emotionally open, thoughtful, patient, protective but tender. And Griffin is everything and more. He sees and understands Peyton so naturally, is honest and thoughtful in the ways in which he woos her and in how he supports her. And Peyton is perhaps my favorite of the sisters. She’s hesitant given her age and the long distance implications of starting a romance with a vacation flirtation, and Griffin so sweetly let’s her determine the arc of their romance. I loved that she’s both sweet and fun, a bit sassy but also kind and genuine. Together they both have a romantic sincerity that only Kaylee Ryan can write. I loved watching them figuring out how to make their relationship work and experience so many first love moments together. They are so genuine in their bond, and I couldn’t get enough of them.

I’m so glad we got to back to this world and get the second generation with all the sisters! Simply adored every word!

I adored Peyton and Griffin’s story. From the moment they met there was a spark. You could feel the connection between the two of them and it only blossomed as time went on.

Peyton and Griffin are prime examples of “when you know you know”. It didn’t matter that they lived in different states, that they were both young, or both student athletes. I loved that they always found time to talk and made time for each other.

I loved the sweetness, the innocent (but also the little bit of spice) and the Griffin swoon throughout this story. Griffin was easily accepted by Peyton’s sisters and their significant others and her parents. Plus, Peyton was easily accepted by Griffin’s parents. Both of them had so much love around them growing up and had great examples when it came to relationships.

I know they were secondary characters but I also loved Karina and Oliver. I loved the little glimpses we got of them throughout Peyton and Griffin’s story and even in the future. Plus, there were both amazing friends and super supportive when it came to Peyton and Griffin’s relationship.

The bonus epilogue….my heart! It was absolutely beautiful and such a perfect way to end this series!

If you’re looking for an insta love, strangers to lovers, sports romance this is one to read.

I did not want this to end, I love this series, the Monroe family, baseball, and Griffin. However, in this final book, the author saved the best for last, not just a home run but a grand slam. While the men before him were definitely swoon-worthy, Griffin took it up a few notches.

Payton is the final sister to get her story, and while on a spring break trip to Florida, she meets Griffin. She is still living in Tennessee, while Griffin is a Florida boy, and both are Freshmen in college. But will the schedules and distance be what break them?

This series will be on the re-read rotation, highly recommended.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.

Books 1, 2, and 3 have the bases loaded, each delivering a solid hit, then Beyond the Team is up at bat, and it hits a grand slam!! Everything about this book was fantastic.

Griffin and Peyton meet on spring break when his frisbee lands at her feet. Their attraction to each other is instant, Griffin is smitten with her from first glance and pursues their connection hard. He only has four days with her and he’s going to make the most of those days and nights. Peyton is a happy he’s into her for her, not who her family is, especially since he plays college baseball. When he does find out who her brothers-in-law are and meets them he handles it real well. He doesn’t gush over meeting his heroes, he plays it cool and assures her it’s her he is interested in. Their time together is so sweet, they are both so good to each other. After talking it through they decide to do the long distance relationship because neither can give the other up. It’s tough on them but phone calls, FaceTime and a very sexy video call helps. I loved when he surprised her on her birthday by coming into town. Easton plays the protective dad again real well. Griffin handles it and lets him know how much Peyton means to him. Parker, Paisley, and Larissa help keep Easton in line. So does little Jett, loved when he called him Uncle Griff. They wait to have their first time, which was smart and sweet. Dual virgins, Griffin had fooled around a little, but one of his coaches had drilled into the team of being careful and responsible. When they do finally have their first time it’s hot! They have more trips to see each other but the distance is getting harder for both of them. Griffin talks about transferring to Tennessee for school but Peyton doesn’t want him to give up his scholarship and place on his team. After her trip to see him she makes a decision that effects everyone. She transfers to his school in Florida and gets signed onto their softball team. I loved how supportive her parents were. Easton had come a long way in believing in Griffin’s feelings for his daughter. When she tells Griffin it’s so sweet how he reacts he unconditionally supports her even before he knew what she did, just because she was worried about her parents reactions. He was floored when she told him she was moving to Florida and going to be attending school with him. More sexy times and spending the summer together before they move in together. Cute side story for best friends Oliver and Karina finding love. Epilogue four years later with the Blaze again in the World Series, this time Griffin is their star pitcher who strikes out the last batter to win the series. Lucky guy plays with Cameron and Holden, his two brothers-in-law. Now married Peyton adds to Griffin’s joy by letting him know they will be adding to their team by one. Second epilogue 11 years later from Easton’s POV looking out at his family while holding Peyton and Griffin’s little girl. He watches all three of his daughters and the beautiful families that have made, Larissa comes and thanks him for loving her and Paisley all those years ago and giving her this wonderful life.
So many great moments with these two and the whole family, including Griffin’s parents. Loved how Griffin wasn’t a player, he was very up front and committed to Peyton from the beginning. Their love story was so sweet. The whole family dynamic is so fun to read.

Long Distance Love

I enjoyed this series. Easton remains my favorite male character because of the way he loved Larissa and Paisley in the beginning. He was the perfect girl dad because he set the stage for how his daughters should expect to be loved. They all were able to choose men that truly cherished them.

Peyton, the baby of the family finds herself overwhelmed with an Insta love. She meets Griffin on a Spring break trip in Florida and their connection is crazy. In a matter of days they find themselves not wanting to leave each other. They decide to try a long distance relationship. With them both being student athletes, Peyton playing softball and Griffin of course a baseball player, they barely have any free time. With them being so young, they really did a good job making each other a priority while attending school.

There was no real arc in this story, but I actually didn't mind it. In the previous stories I think the conflict was somewhat out of place. I liked that this was just a sweet love story with just the angst and hardship of a long distance love.

Griffin was super sweet. It was like the on light was switched to his heart. He was so ready and willing to Love Peyton and it was sweet.

There was your typical repetitive interrogation by Easton, but it wasn't too over the top. I enjoyed the families and how supportive they were of this young love. I think it really helped them be successful.

Even though the ending skips ahead and I wanted just a little more it was a nice way to wrap up the Monroe family series.

Gah!! Complete insta love perfection! Beyond The Team was the fourth book in Kaylee’s Out Of Reach series. It can be read as a stand-alone but this family was too amazing to not start from the beginning!! It was sweet, swoony, and absolutely irresistible!

Peyton just wanted to get away, she had no intention of falling for a guy. Especially not for a baseball player. While her head was telling her one thing, her heart wanted something else. Would she end up playing it safe or would see where it could go?

Griffin had one goal, to go pro. Until he met her. She had him second guessing everything. He knew he wasn’t ready to let her go but would they be able to keep up with the long distance?

These two were on fire! I loved getting to watch them fall fast and hard and then figure out how to not let go! They were lucky that everything fell into place for them and made the best of every opportunity! I was so sad to say goodbye to this series because they felt like family, but Kaylee gave us the perfect ending!!

Griffin & Peyton

First off I’m super sad that this series is over and I demand a 2nd generation!!! Secondly I loved every single second of it. Peyton and Griffin were absolutely perfect together. They say when you know you know. They put in the effort and made the long distance work.

I loved that there was no real drama just two kids figuring out how to make their love last long distance. They both were so committed to each other and watching them make it work was beautiful.

I loved Easton’s epilogue so much. To see the family grow over the years yet still stay so strong and bonded was everything you love about romance.

I’m sad to see the series end but so happy everyone found their happily ever after! 🥰 I’m definitely going to miss all the Monroe’s and the rest of the family! ❤️

This was such a sweet story. I loved the connection that Peyton and Griffin had; how they took similar paths for very different reasons but it lead them to each other. They were so adorable. I loved that we got to see here sisters and their dudes again. A perfect ending to this series and that epilogue got me in all the feels.

3rd read May 2023: I listened to the audio this time. Ugh, Griffin!! You are unrealistically perfect and I’ll take it (you ;-) ). Still all the stars!!

Re-read october 2022: gah! I love this series so much! I always go back to these books when I need a comfort read. Simple, feel good, sugary sweet romance. I love it!

Original review:
All the stars…ALL THE STARS!! I completely loved this one, this series is incredible. It is not often that I love every book in a series, but it happened with this one. This last book in the series rocked my world. Do you know that feeling that you want to slow down the reading and keep checking the percentage left and you keep wishing the book just wouldn’t end? Well, that happened to me with this book. I hate that it is over. This book is super insta love and sugary sweet and I’m completely here for it. It made me sigh and swoon something fierce. Griffin, like for real? PER-FEC-TION! And Peyton, ugh I loved her too. And all the wonderful family dynamics on both sides, revisiting the other couples from the previous books and the lovable friends of both MC’s (and kind of seeing them fall in love too!). Griffin and Peyton are ultimate couple goals. The romance was cavity inducing sweet, Griffin is the ultimate book boyfriend and the steam was hawt! What else can I say? I will be re-reading this series often!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Safety:
OW: very slight. OW touches H’s shoulder and wants to sit on his lap. H makes it very well known he doesn’t want to be touched by anyone but h.
No OM
No cheating
No separation in relationship (but long distance relationship)

I can't lie, I have enjoyed this series and I am sad to see it end, but ending with Griffin and Peyton seems like the perfect way for it to find its's conclusion.

Even though Griffin and Peyton are both really young (and admittedly I try not to read titles where the characters are younger than 25-27) I was engaged with their story. I think this is because I had read the first 3 titles in the series, so I had a guess that I was not going to end up having issues with the ages of the main characters. And, this was mostly true.

I did enjoy it overall, but I admit that it did bother me slightly that there was a fairly large time jump at the end of the book, almost like the characters in this one were too young for it to be believable that they stayed together, so it had to be jumped forward in order to sell the happily ever after and not the happily for now. I think I wanted to believe that their story was strong enough to stand on it's own, in the timeline in which it was set, and this made it feel a little like that wasn't the case.

Up until this point, I actually found that I was mostly engaged with the story, and with the characters, and that it felt like a romance between adults without a lot of the issues that draw me away from reading titles with characters in this age range.

Other than this, I did enjoy the title overall and I recommend it.

⭐️ 5 "Frisbee" Stars ⭐️
Beyond the Team was one of those insta love stories that filled my heart with happy feelings. I'm not a fan in general of these insta love romances, but Griffin and Peyton's was irresistible! This novel was low on drama and felt real. Right when they meet, this couple knows it's a once in a lifetime kind of connection. Depsite the distance, they do anything to make it work between them.

Griffin is truly adorable with Peyton! Their interactions had me smiling from their beauty and cuteness. I enjoyed that unlike the previous books in the series, Griffin isn't a major league baseball player but still in college. It helped make this story different than the other ones. I loved Peyton's maturity at only eighteen years old. She isn't afraid to declare and own her choices, despite her over protective dad, Easton Monroe.

Overall, Beyond the Team was an incredibly beautiful and light read! It was a great wrap-up to an amazing series!

What is this deliciousness I just read you ask - sadly its the last book in the series and I'm a mess. This slow burn had me captive from the very first page and I stayed glued to it right until the end. It was filled with great banter, sweet and swoony moments that had my heart nearly jumping out of my chest.
The desperation on Griffin part when they were not together made me shed a tear or two. I loved that Peyton loved him enough to stand with him when daddy Easton gave him a hard time like he did with the rest of the guys. Everything about this book and series was perfect and the ending to all of this will leave us with a bit of sadness but mostly it will leave us with a huge smile on our faces because everyone got their HEA.

I absolutely loved and adored Griffin and Peyton's story and the two of them are just amazing characters themselves. I don't know how Kaylee Ryan got me so envious of their love story because they found love really young and I never loved other YA romances as much as I did with Griff and Peyton's. I'm not a big fan of YA romance period.

But their story was so sweet, so heartfelt you can't help but loved them. And just like her sisters' stories the familial aspect is very strong in this one too. I loved that! It's not just Peyton's family but also Griffin's. Don't even get me with Griffin! I was just swooning the whole time reading his feelings, his thoughts about Peyton and what he wants to have with her?! Exceptional! Perfect is this book and this series. I'm so sad to see it ends. I'm definitely looking forward to more from Kaylee Ryan.

Oh my goodness! I'm sooooo in love with this series.

Kaylee Ryan is back with the next book in the super swoony Out of Reach series and y'all. My heart. This series has been absolutely addicting every step, every emotion, every book along the way but usually in a series you have that special one. THIS is that one.

Beyond the Team gives us Peyton and Griffin's story and y'all, your heart ain't ready for this one. Packed to the brims with heart, heat, and swoon, Kaylee delivers a swoonworthy romance that even the toughest critics on love and chemistry cannot deny.

I'm so glad Kaylee continued this series because y'all, my heart.

I highly recommend this book.

Beyond the Team by Kaylee Ryan is Griffin and Peyton’s story and it was such a sweet and captivating story. Imagine going away for a few days and meeting the person who will change everything. Their connection was undeniable and they were determined to make it work. When they meet, they are living in different states and have to decide if they want to try and make it work. I just loved these two together so much. I loved Griffin’s determination to make this work, but in the end, they just did. They were just so good together.

The story was sweet and delightful. I loved this series and the characters so much. I am sad to see it end, but this was the best ending we could have gotten.

Happy reading!

I almost think Griffin tops the list of best male character in this series. I love how fast & hard he fell for Peyton. These two were beyond adorable together, seriously so sweet they could give you a tooth ache. I definitely think they were the cutest couple in the series. I really like Griffin’s friend group & I wish we had gotten more of them because I’d love to watch them all fall in love. I’d love to get Oliver’s story as well. I’m sad this series is over but it so great & one I’ll definitely revisit.

Sweet, surprising and so full of heart, Beyond the Team is the perfect way to start out the year. With a great plot, awesome secondary characters it really is a great read from start to finish. Kaylee once again does what she does best bringing all her signature wit and charm to the characters that we all know and love. BTW I agree with Peyton about onions!

Beyond the Team was the perfect finish to the Out of Reach series! It's a feel-good instalove story with a super swoony hero and a super sweet heroine. Griffin and Peyton had their lives all planned out but all it took was a couple days over spring break to change their futures. I loved everything about this series and this was such a great end!
