Gah, I loved this even more than first one! The imagery, the world building, the TENSION OMG THE TENSION. And how did she have me eating out of Hook’s…hook?! Seriously, I was seriously waffling to and from Team Hook. I was steps away from getting tshirts made. Anywho…Wendy was kidnapped by Melanie (EW) and Otis and taken to the aforementioned (and devastatingly handsome and deliciously unhinged) James Hook. Where it was immediately apparent that Hook wanted Wendy in way more ways than just the one…the one being revenge against his archenemy Peter Pan. Hook no longer has a code, he no longer cares about Good Form. Now he just cares about getting what he wants, in whatever sordid and vicious way he has to go about it. The old Hook…he’s gone. In his place is a ruthless warrior, but one who can’t quite bring himself to hurt Wendy.
Meanwhile, Melanie is working her magic and reeking havoc against Peter and The Lost Kids, as Peter desperately fights his way toward Wendy. He can’t bear losing her, and the thought of Hook hurting her is more than he can take. Meanwhile, Wendy fights to free herself from Hook and his band of sadistic pirates. He’s made an ally of Alice, who stole the grin and claws from The Cheshire Cat and specifically creeped the actual fuck out of me. This author has such a beautiful way of writing, whether it’s describing an otherworldly beauty, or stringing together some truly terrifying sentences. And then there was the grand reunion, which was *chefs kiss. Loved the teaser about Hades and Persephone which is and will always be by FAVORITE retelling of all time. Anyways, I had such a great time reading this duet today, loved being immersed in this fantasy world!
This was a really cute end for this series. I really enjoyed the fact that we got to see past characters like Jack and Emery from Jack Frost (Immortal warriors #1) I really just enjoyed this and that Wendy and Peter were finally reunited. Really cute book.
I loved Wendy, Darling so I did something I don't normally do and jumped right into the sequel. Captain Pan picks up where the first left off and delivers all the spice and action we grew to love in the first. If you've read the first book I definitely recommend you pick up Captain Pan as well!
Although I wasn't a huge fan of the chapters where Wendy was with Hook, it was worth it for the reunion that came later on between her and Pan. And since Pan was so forgiving of the lustful feelings Wendy had for Hook, I suppose I should be as well. Even though it was hard for me to see Wendy so tempted by Hook during her capture, it was made clear that her attraction for him was nothing compared to the love she had for Pan. Which is great because I was a huge Pan stan!
One thing I also enjoyed in this book were the side characters. Jack Frost and Emery were in this and even though I haven't read their story yet, this book really makes me want to!
As always, Kenny's writing is descriptive and lyrical, and I highly recommend Captain Pan for anyone who is looking for some hot fae spice in their lives!
Kenney is superb at what she does. Rich, descriptive worldbuilding, incredible tension, a grittiness that balances the comedic levity that she is so, very good at it. She writes in a way that isn't expected, blending lovable tropes with so much creativity. Oh, and yeah, of course there's some really good sex, too. I just genuinely need Booktok to discover this author because she should be making Katee Robert level sales.
A worthy sequel to Wendy Darling! I absolutely loved this book and Rebecca is very quickly becoming a firm favourite of mine! The pacing was spot on, the romance was the perfect amount of steamy. Adult Peter Pan is uttlery swoonworthy and I love him. So, so looking forward to reading many more books by this author! 🖤
Is Peter the sweetest, hottest boy ever? Yes. Are he and Wendy absolutely adorable together? Yes. Was the ending for this absolutely perfect? Also yes.
This duology has absolutely everything I was looking for, hot/sweet romance, witty banter, and fair bit of action, a range of diverse characters, magic and twists. Kenney excels at writing impossibly beautiful, dangerous worlds, and this may just be her best yet. Her prose is second to none, and I genuinely struggle to think of anyone on my shelves who comes close to emulated her gorgeous descriptive style; and as a former bookseller with a quasi-library and a degree in teaching English with creative writing, that says A LOT.
Honestly, I don't know why you're reading my review when you could be reading HER WORDS instead.
What an interesting reimagining of a famously retold fairytale! The premise intrigued me and thanks to a quick sell on tiktok, I added this right to my tbr. I enjoyed it a lot. I thought it was taking a turn into a polyamorous direction, which in other cases I wouldn’t mind but Peter Pan is a rivals story we’ve all heard about and I don’t think I’m ready for that change just yet. Maybe on the next retelling.
Peter and Wendy very obviously stole the show and it was not long before they fell into their chemistry. Now they’re both adults (Peter! An adult! Gasp!) and have adult decisions they need to make but when they both are very aware of what life feels like without the other, they bend a bit in ways they didn’t expect.
I recommend! It was quick and fun and the series seems promising. There’s a Hades and Persephone retelling headed my way and I’m always down for those.
A really cute story! Adult Peter Pan is so adorable, and I couldn’t get enough of him. This book was funny, exciting, and packed with tension, plus I loved seeing my favorite characters from previous books return. A fun and enjoyable addition to the series, that I couldn't help but finish in a day.
The author knows how to build up the tension and hold it to your throat. I was on the edge of my seat for this entire second book and it did not disappoint.
The relationships built in the first book are taken to the next level in this one, grown and expanded exactly how you want. Hook is a deviously twisted and yet complex villain. You might be surprised how you react to him.
The world is expanded and we continue to learn more about it and how it intersects with other worlds. The possibilities introduced are enticing and I’m sure the author will bless us with other stories.
Wendy continues to be the stand out and best piece of the story. She feels real, with her weaknesses but she has a keen mind and maintains the loyalty so reminiscent of character.
If you need a more adult but thrilling version of Peter Pan with just the right touch of romance, you’ve found it here.
Peter and Wendy's story comes to a hot and spectacular end in this second installment. There's action, there're feels, and above all else, there is sweet, spicy heat. Be prepared to take multiple cold showers, or you know... just go with it. 😉
I will say there is frequent reference to rape/forced kissing, touching during the Wendy/Hook interactions, so let this serve as a trigger warning to anyone sensitive to said situations.
Overall, a fantastic tale, and one I'm sure to reread for years to come.
I enjoyed this duology very very much. This book had such immersive world building and the tension was incredible. I just love Peter and Wendy’s relationship! This whole story’s end was quite satisfactory !
Quite an enjoyable, quick read. I enjoyed the limited pov switches and Wendy's dealings with Hook. Tbh my dark romance heart kind of wanted Wendy to end up with Hook, but Peter is obviously an excellent choice, too. I love the combined universes in this series and can't wait to read Hades.
WOW! What a conclusion... ADORED this duology... I am HERE for Pan and Wendy and very intrigued by Commodore James Hook. Devoured this and wholeheartedly recommend!
4.5. Oooooh yeah, that was so good! I’m super impressed by the detailed world building in these two Neverland books. That seriously fed my inner child!!
In the first book, I was disappointed by the book not being the amazingly written adventure romance story that I had been expecting. In this book, I'm mostly sitting here trying to process wtf I've just read.
Peter's foot fetish? FOOT FETISH, EXCUSE ME???
And Wendy suddenly getting turned on by Hook and thinking about standing on his side rather than Peter's, meanwhile the latter says, "Oh, it's fine. Hook's handsome, I get it. Totally natural to want to sleep with him."
Wtf.
I'm gonna need a break from Peter Pan stories to recover from this.

I really liked the way this story was written. It was good to see different parts of the different realms. I enjoyed hearing more about peters childhood and his home. It was nice to see Peter not kill Hook in the end but leaving him in a realm he could never escape. The battle scenes were well written.
I liked the ending where they come back to earth and see her brothers. I wish that was more elaborated, but I get where it wasn’t the focus of the story. I also would’ve loved for the ending to have Wendy pregnant. That would’ve been an amazing end to the story.

I have a strange relationship with this author. I love the idea and how she start her books, then something happen in the middle and i can't wait to finish the book because i can't stand it anymore. I love Peter and Wendy from start to finish. Hook has changed but it's ok. The multiverso, interdimensional war or whatever that is and fae realm it's a no for me. Completely ruined the story for me. And Otis... I... I can't. Really. Too painful.
A fun read, but so severely rushed. Like the first book, I feel like I'm reading through a 16-17 year old, not a 25 year old Wendy which was annoying. There's just so much that could have been improved, but the basis of the book isn't for the world it's for the connection between Peter and Wendy so it could be overlooked. Overall enjoyable.
Absolutely could not put this down. 4.5 ⭐️’s Such a good ending, but OMG- allllll the feels. This duology was romantic, action packed and spicy. Absolutely LOVED it! Even though I read this for free on KU it’s so good I will be buying a physical copy for the bookshelves!
Oh me oh my, the cleverness of me that I clearly don’t fucking posses because I decided to keep reading after already hating the first book more than I ever thought possible. I was curious what else this author came up with after all the half-baked ludicrous shit she put in the first book. And what can I say, curiosity killed the fucking cat.
I still stand by what I said, both Wendy and Peter were absolutely insufferable, especially when they’re together. Funnily enough when wendy was with hook, though she was just as annoying as always, I cringed way less. When she’s with peter, god help me, some scenes were so hard to read, I had to put down my kindle just to process all the negative emotions for a second when they talked to each other💀
“Admit it, I was the best you’ve ever had. I blew your damn mind.” First of all, ew second of all, even if Wendy did confirm, I personally believe her opinion doesn’t really count for much, considering, well… her. What blew my mind though is how fucking fragile Peters lil ego was all the fucking time. I’m still fully convinced he’d be awful in bed. He’s just giving off that certain…vibe They truly deserve each other and all the misery that’ll come with this baneful relationship. They are indeed made for one another because they are both equally irritating. Also can we talk about how Wendy practically jumped at every opportunity make out with hook? I mean I get it, I’d also choose Hook over Peter any time but Wendy, who from the very beginning told us how ever since she was ✨15✨ and got kidnapped for a ✨week✨ she was hopelessly in love with her abductor and who kept insisting that they had to be together cuz they’re soulmates, is now handing out kisses to Peters nemesis like they’re candy? 🤨 You could tell that she simply liked making out with him and imagine that was the case the other way around and Peter kept making out with some random girl “under the pretense” of surviving… At the same time that was the most tension and chemistry we got in the all of the two books soo….🤷♀️ Either way it made me hate Wendy and her fake ass even fucking more 🙅♀️
The only one who deserved better was hook. He was by far the most likable character. For a second I thought it would be kinda awesome if he became the main love interest but then I thought better of it and not because I don’t like the idea of him being the mmc in general. Quite the opposite actually. I mean he was the tall, dark haired, pierced, misunderstood, ruthless ✨hot✨ villain who had a soft spot for only her (that she very much wasn’t worthy of I might add) and had troubles showing himself vulnerable. Let’s be real here, he was better than peter could’ve ever been in this book. However the reason I didn’t wish for him to be the main love interest after all is that Wendy simply didn’t fucking deserve his love. And my boy Hook truly deserves better than this crusty lil nitwit Wendy and it pains me that he couldn’t see that 😪 He deserves better than to be the second choice 😩 “how about a goodbye kiss, love?” idk why but that right there broke my fucking heart. This was literally the only time I felt something other than anger reading this book… Hook was the victim in all of this 😩
The plot also most definitely leaves a lot to be desired… Her rescue was lame as fuck. No tension whatsoever. Hooks death came way too fast, way too random. They had an epic rivalry for almost a century and that is how it’s supposed to end??? 🤨 Except, oh, he wasn’t really dead and then woke up with fucking amnesia. 🤦♀️
Apparently the author quite likes the idea of bringing back the dead. Not once, not twice but three fucking times not the mention the three most important characters 🤦♀️ Peter was dead for like 5 seconds. There was no angst, no drama, no fucking reason for it to happen at all. It didn’t add anything good or important to the storyline. It just irritated me cuz what’s the point? What did we as readers gain from this 5 second lasting death experience? Also how very convenient to just always carry around some fae tears 😗 As if that wasn’t dumb enough already the exact same thing happened AGAIN 🤠 Wendy fucking died, a stoopid stoopid death btw, was gone for a couple of seconds and then boom back from the dead. What the hell. Seriously what the hell. The first time was one time too many so why the fuck would you do it again?????? Genuine question. What on earth could one possibly want to archive with these deaths? Some fake ass drama? well mission failed 👎
Also I’m pretty sure the author has a thing for feet and you cannot convince me otherwise. First Wendy wanted to kiss Peters ✨beautiful✨ feet in the first book and now turns out Peter does, in fact, have a foot fetish and likes to get his lil fairy toes sucked 🧚♀️ Oh and I think he likes getting spanked as well

just fyi: i listened to the audiobook and quit 7 and a half hours in. i had less than 2 hours to go though, so i feel like its acceptable to write a review. but if you disagree, just scroll on 🤷🏼♀️
this was such a disappointment. peter pan is my favorite fairytale of all time, so when i read the first one and loved it, i was so excited to read the second. i actually enjoyed the first half alright, but by hour 7? omg gag me with a spoon - this was utter crap.
the entire book is about how horny literally everyone is. it really threw me. like, i get it’s not a YA book (nor was i expecting one), but holy shit - this was just ridiculous. first of all, wendy has this all encompassing love for peter, yet the second she spends 10 minutes alone with hook she’s turned on? can i just say help??? bc wtaf. i would’ve been plotting a murder, not struggling to stave off my hormones. good lord.
after all of that nonsense, peter finally rescues her and that’s where the book really turns. it just snowballs downhill straight into a dumpster fire.
i understand peter and wendy enjoying each others company for a time or two after finding each other again, but like… yall are possibly being hunted. did you forget or…? then, of course peter is “in heat” *rolls eyes* and it’s no longer safe to have sex unprotected without risk of pregnancy. so wendy impulsively decides that she wants to have a baby with peter. even though she hasn’t really thought through whether she wants to stay in neverland forever, and even though she and peter just got together, and even though it means she would only be getting pregnant bc she HAS to bc he won’t be able to impregnate her for another 30 years.
i just can’t. i stopped not too long after she brought him back to life with the tears. around the time wendy was going on about how together they’re ✨more✨ like i said: gag me w a freakin spoon.
some people may read this and think im just a prude and that’s fine. incorrect, but fine. in actuality, i just don’t like fantasy books with no plot.
