The Gauntlet is a Bible study for fathers and their sons or mentors and their disciples. It is based on the principles of Deuteronomy 6:1-9:"Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which the LORD your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it, so that you and your son and your grandson might fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged…These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."This study is founded on an assumption. The assumption is that boys, no matter their age, need at least a few things from their fathers (orfrom someone who will represent The Father to them). Here is a list of some of the minimums – it is not exhaustive, but I believe it is need examples.Boys need blessing(s).Boys need heroes.Boys need someone alongside as well as someone to lead the way…...and they need these things consistently. All boys need their fathers to carve out intentional time with them to raise them up as good men. This study will help you not only take set aside time to disciple your mentoree, but also helps you raise them up in practical life skills. If we're being realistic, most of the time you spend with them will include time on other things, like sitting at breakfast, throwing a football, changing a car tire, and everything in-between.This study includes 12 skills for life and 12 sections that focus on men of the Bible. This Bible study is for all the men with busy schedules who are ready to take responsibility for raising up their son or for discipling a young man after the ways of God.The Gauntlet has been thrown... will you pick it up?
