Alora dismantled Terra, just as the Followers of Isis feared she would, freeing its occupants and restoring the magic (and denizens) of the past. Ra is alive and eager to reunite with his family. Alora desperately hopes he will heal Jesse, once and for all.
But not everyone is pleased, and not everything is as it ought to be...
Ra may be powerful and skilled, but he’s also amassed quite a few enemies over the years. As those opposed to his methods assemble against Alora, she must puzzle out the mysteries of her ancient past to solve problems that were never resolved. Can Alora save those she loves without losing herself in the process? Will the world survive the clash of power that was put on hold for millennia?
I am sad that this is the last book and concludes this series. I have to say I truly enjoyed it. The characters have come to grow on me during the books and the story from Alora and her brother Jesse to Khan and John have pulled me in. I have always enjoyed historic facts but the way Bridget E. Baker has incorporated them into her stories are fantastic. I have to say I feel like doing more diving into the Egyptian history.
Alora has managed to destroy Terra and all its connecting worlds but is that going to be enough? It wouldn’t be a Bridget E Baker book if she didn’t throw another plot twist in the mix. There are new challenges hurled at Alora and her friends. Will they be able to once more rally together and overcome any obstacles to finally get that peaceful world Alora has been dreaming about? I don’t want to spoil anything but the world that Bridget E Baker has created in this series is flawless. The way her flashbacks have been incorporated throughout each book have given the story and character depth. It has shown that the characters are not perfect and have flaws that they either cover up well or aren’t even aware of.
This series has been written with so much love embedded in it that it shows. No, it isn’t a love story but the characters have more depth. It is a fiction story that will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I've waited so long for this book, and I've followed the series faithfully since the beginning. I was excited to finally get the answers that have been brewing since the first book, to find out why Terra was formed and if Jesse would finally be saved. I will say that I did love this book immensely, but it was hard to read. I had to stop reading it for a day just to get over the hard feelings that I experienced on Alora's behalf, because it honestly felt like the pain she went through was my own. This is one of the stories that breaks your heart, because sometimes love can hurt. You want everything to work out, for everyone to get the happy ending and the day to be saved, but it doesn't always work out that way. It's hard and unfair, and sometimes it seems like the world is ending. Heck, maybe it should. Alora understands that, through so many trials and hardships. She's faced with so many difficulties in such a short time, but she overcomes. She learns, she grows, she triumphs. She remembers why she is who she is, why she has to set things right, and the ones who have loved her and helped her along the way. Capsized is a perfect ending to the Anchored series, even though there were some parts that were hard to read. Even though it made me cry. It will serve as a good reminder that even when things seem like they're at their darkest moment, there's still light ahead.
I was eagerly awaiting the conclusion to this series, and I was not disappointed. This one made me feel ALLLL the feels. I loved the extra Egyptian mythology/history Baker threw in. You could tell she really researched things and it played like a movie through my imagination. (Seriously, I woke up the next afternoon- had to stay up all night reading it- and was ruminating on the movie I had just seen, then realized nope, it was a book. I LOVE books like that!!). Some of the characters got fleshed out a little more and made me like and/or dislike them even more. Isis, for real! What is your problem!?!? She’s awful. Ra is one complex character and took some time to sort out whose side he really was on. I cried a few times, and really ugly sobbed over Jesse. You’ll know when you get there, just keep a few tissues on standby.
I was satisfied with the ending. I could have happily had another book in this series, but I was able to sigh and turn the last page and put it down feeling complete. I almost envy those who have yet to read this series, as they can get the whole story, start to finish. You will not regret the time you spend delving into Terra, Erra, Rra, A, Earth, Egypt, any of it! I may have already ready Capsized twice. It was so full of twists and turns the first go-round that I got even more out of it on the reread.
W O W Z A!!! What an ending to a thrill ride of a series. Alora and her group finally gain all the missing pieces to the puzzle...now, what to do with that knowledge? Nope...."spoilers " 😉. Suffice to say its **definitely** worth the read!!! I was all up in my feels at many points of this read. Ok, ok, I'll admit it *sniffle* even shed a few tears ok? The world building is absolutely top notch, and woven seamlessly throughout different time periods. The stakes have never been higher, and the emotional toll is starting to show. Take this final stroll with friends, family and enemies alike to see who is left standing. I was utterly blown away by the genius way our author crafted this finale. It had so much held within its pages, and was really masterfully done. Filled with emotion, heart, pathos, intrigue, history, sacrifice, romance and family...both by blood, but mainly of the heart. I dare you not to walk away from this not touched in some way. I for one will miss these characters.... I'm **hoping** 😉 maybe we'll see them again in the future somehow?
I had high expectations and it did not disappoint! Love developing, loss, family, revenge, magic, power and leadership. All in one book! The story starts where it left off, which was a bit of an adjustment for me, as it's been a couple of months since I read the last book (but I remembered as I read). But, if you're reading them all together, this will be great. I like how many issues were dealt with sensitively, that plot points were resolved and that the ending is satisfying - it didn't end too quickly, or drag on. Bridget always knows just how much description to give so I can picture what's going on (too much and I become bored, which I never do in this whole series). Overall, I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a strong, female lead. Alora is not only powerful, but also shows a full range of emotions and is always ready to help people.
Wow! Bridget E. Baker is a master at telling a story! I read this series in a week and the final book doesn't disappoint! Baker knows how to pull her readers in with her heart-wrenching and heart-warming story. Make sure to have some tissues ready. The complex story line that she created with in the books draws to completion nicely in the final book. The details she uses from ancient Egyptian history pull together into the current world so smoothly.
Though the series is over I wish there was more. Once you have fallen in love with her characters it is hard to see it all end but she ties up the series beautifully. Love her writing and recommend any of her books! She is truly one of my favorite authors! Can't wait for the next book series!
This book was probably the best of the series along with book 1. A lot is happening and there are things to be resolved. Alora is in her new role as supreme ruler of UK or whatever. But she is recovering bigger chunks of her memory and her and Alexander’s story and why she created all the different worlds. She realizes her naivety in Ancient Egypt and decides to be bold and confident in the end. Isis is a real lunatic. I liked the series but the fantastical convenience of some of what Alora can do just at the right moment is a tiny off putting. Lots of good characters and the dreaming thing she does is different. I had digital credits to read most of this so it’s all good. Recommend for those that gobble up this genre like I do.
4.5 stars This was a fantastic ending to a great YA Urban Fantasy series. The romance in this one was exactly what I was hoping for, just a bit more to the back story and in the present. There were definitely some unexpected twists and turns as this book finished up the series. I like that I couldn’t predict things. There were a couple of parts that didn’t feel completely resolved, but I loved the ending and the epilogue was exactly what I was hoping for these characters. I received an advance reader copy of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This was a great YA series and I am glad I read it. Definitely recommend the entire four book series.
I received a free, advanced reader copy of this book. My opinions are all my own.
First, if you haven’t read the rest of this series, run right now to go get book 1 and start there. The build up of the whole series is so important to getting the most out of this book!
About Capsized: Whew!
While everything did get resolved, nothing got resolved the way I was expecting! And while I can’t say it’s what I wanted for the end, it really is the best way for everything to end.
There’s raw, intense emotion. There’s action. There’s a little adventure.
Capsized continues on with the story of Alora and her firece love for those she holds closest to her. Alora learns so many truths about herself and those she cares for deeply. I was up all night while reading, desperately needing to learn what had happened to Alora and if the ones she put her trust in were actually trustworthy or if they were wolves in sheep skin hurting Alora and those she loves. There are twists and turns and things I didn't see coming. I laughed and cried and then cried some more. This was an amazing end to an amazing series. If you decide to read this book you won't be disappointed.
I take back any interest that I have had in any of these books.
This book was awful. It invalidated almost everything that was building conflict in the earlier books.
The part that bothered me the most was the way that Mehan had issues with Alexander. Stupid.
Almost every single bit of 'loss' happened in the last few pages of this book.
The book ties up in a big, red happy bow at the end. Blah. It was such a weak ending and because the author kept ramping up the abilities of the characters it was so over the top in the last two books it was boring.
The only part that I liked was the Jessy resolution
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible)
So we now have a world that is unbelievable. There are elemental magic wielders and shapeshifters, mind illusionists, having regained their power when the world known as Terra had been destroyed. Now, there were ancient Egyptians many years older than any human today could conceive living to. As usual, there is the one person who believes they should be the ruler of the new world. Thankfully, there are those who are willing to stand up to tyranny.
Very very enjoyable for it's very different story line and plot.
Such a roller coaster of emotions! It’s crazy how when the scenes in Ancien Egypt started I kinda was in a rush to read then and almost skip them to get to Alora’s story of right now. But then in Capsized i was just too excited to actually hear of the whole background story and really understand what happens. All in all, this was such a good story and I loved it sooo much ! It taught me so many things. This was an amazing series. If you like adventure, historical, love and fantasy, this is definitely for you.
Final book and it is so awesome! It’s been one hell of an adventure, an exciting and action packed adventure that has been an amazing ride set in an incredible world that drew me in from the very first book! The author has done a fantastic job answering questions and finishing off this amazing series and there’s a few surprises and shocks with the twists and turns along the way but that ending well I was left very happy with the way the author finished things. All in all a great fantasy series that I will no doubt read again!
I enjoyed this story as an audiobook. This story is narrated by Jennifer Jill Araya. This story is part of the Anchored series and must be read in order. So if you haven’t seen my review for “Anchored” start there.
This was an amazing ending to such an intense story. I’m so glad everything got wrapped up and we saw not only how this war is being waged on Earth but what happened back in Ancient Egypt. While I don’t want to give too much away, I will say you will be happy with the ending of this series.
Loved the way this was all wrapped up. I will say I had a couple of head turning twists I wasn’t quite expecting toward the end! It felt a bit rushed at the very end. But overall I really enjoyed Aloras character building and everything she learned about herself from her past life.
Overall I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this series. It’s not a “Roman Empire”. But it was a cozy series that was a quick read and ticked all the boxes! Definitely underrated and I will be recommending!
Wow. Wow wow wow. This series has had me on the edge from beginning to end. I couldn’t put not be happier with how things turned out. I was laughing, I was crying, I was yelling. I couldn’t be more satisfied.
One thing I noticed, though, is the story towards the end felt like I had seen it elsewhere, but I’m not sure where.
Still think it’s one of the best series I have read in a long while.
This was a pretty good conclusion to the series. I really wish that Alora's growth had been more gradual over the course of the whole series as she feels very much the same in books 1-3 and makes some pretty big changes right at the end of this book. But overall, everything was explained well and the story felt finished. I definitely liked the first book best.
However, I will never get over this book not having a title that begins with "A."
A conclusion of epic proportions, wrapping things up nicely in all areas with a hearty dose of feels. I really enjoyed reading this book and the whole series. In particular, this book wrapped up the series nicely, tying up all loose ends and giving us a heartwarming ending but I'm not giving any spoilers.
Oh my goodness! This entire series was so amazing to read! I so hate to say bye to wonderful characters and worlds. A series like this one, however, needed an ending. Things left "loose" were nicely tied with bows. It couldn't go on forever and still make for a wonderful series. Maybe a spin-off series on one of the other side characters?
This was a very unique teens series because of the story line which I really enjoyed. never read anything like it to-date. The fmc is young and immature but the supporting theme and characters offset that negative, but I also consider the likely intended audience. I listened on audiobook to the series and narrator did well on all characters.
The perfect ending to a perfect series. This series quickly became one of my favorites. The worldbuilding is just INSANE as well as all the Ancient Egypt scenes they were so thought out. Also I’m such a sucker for the “I’ll find you in every life” trope😭😭
Please read this series I’m begging you wont regret it
STUNNING CONCLUSION! Baker’s fresh and captivating voice never disappoints. This book left me utterly satisfied with Alora’s journey after a twisty edge-of-my-seat journey. There were a few *GASP* reveals, which are always awesome!
This was such a great ending to this already wonderful series. My poor family lost me for a day because I couldn’t put this book down. It brought on so many emotions throughout the book. I was happy, sad, mad, excited, everything! You will not want to miss this one!
Somehow, I wasn't expecting this to be the end. I guess I was hoping for a longer ride. The end did feel a bit convenient and rushed, but otherwise it was a fun ride.
