IT BEGAN AS AN ORDINARY SEARCH. K9 handler, Ryder Creed and his scent dog, Grace, return to Nebraska to join FBI Agent Maggie O'Dell on the same task force that helped rescue his sister Brodie a year ago. But their job is interrupted when a rural Postal carrier finds a black plastic bag discarded in a grassy roadside ditch.
What's inside is shocking to even these seasoned investigators.
TRUST NO ONE. Just that morning a young woman has gone missing. Is her disappearance connected? Did she run away? Or was she taken? And is it only a matter of time before she ends up in a roadside ditch?
Ryder agrees to search for her, but an early snowstorm threatens to replace the warm fall temperatures. His scent dog, Grace has never worked in cold, snowy conditions.
THEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG. The snow blurs the landscape and grinds life to a halt. As Maggie O'Dell searches for answers about the victim, she uncovers a cold-blooded, ruthless killer who has murdered before. By the time Maggie realizes no one has heard from or seen Ryder since before the snow began to fall, she fears he and Grace may have walked into the killer's path.

K-9 handler Ryder Creed and his dog Grace travel from their home base in Florida to Nebraska to pay back a favor to Special Investigator Tommy Pakula. FBI Agent Maggie O'Dell is also there working on human trafficking. While working one case, they begin to look for a missing girl who has been staying with the local sheriff and his wife. All in the middle of a big snowstorm.
If you are a dog lover, you have probably already discovered this series. This #7 is a good addition. I like the way Ryder always takes care of and protects his dog before himself. I like the author's dedications to her pets at the beginning. At the very end, I'm wondering if Ryder and O'Dell will take their relationship to the next level.
It began as an ordinary search ... and then everything went wrong.
Welcome to the 7th book in the Ryder Creed series. An early October snowstorm wasn't the only thing that blindsided K9 handler Ryder Creed and his scent dog, Grace. From the first chapter to the last, Fallen Creed was a pulse-pounding page-turner. My heart almost stopped from the suspense!
How I love that little Jack Russel Terrier, Grace!! She's brilliant, loyal, adorable, and sweet, all rolled into one. I hope this series never ends!
I like this series and love the main characters, Ryder Creed and FBI profiler Maggie O'Dell. Can't say enough good things about Ryder's scent dog, Grace. She gives JRTs the rep they deserve. Good girl.
Why does it seem like Ryder always finds himself in a bad situation lately. I was really worried for him in this one, really not sure if he would make it out ok. He was just trying to help people and man...things quickly went to hell for him. The thing that none of them realized was that the person Ryder was looking for was part of a bigger thing, one that was so bad. I hated how/why Libby was in the situation she was in, felt bad that she was manipulated how she was. I'm glad that things were exposed and ended.
I find myself intrigued by Ryder and Maggie's odd talk at the end, really hope something comes of it, as these two have been dancing around each other for a long time. I'm also very intrigued by what went on with Brodie and Jason. I really would like for things there to end good, but feel like maybe Jason is too dense to get what Brodie feels for him.
Fallen Creed is the Seventh installment in author Alex Kava's Ryder Creed series. This book story once again returns to Nebraska where our main characters are trying to take down a sex trafficking operation, only to put one of the characters life in jeopardy when they get caught up in a dangerous game.
I have enjoyed following the characters of the Ryder Creed series. Alex Kava has done well to keep my interest in her characters and I enjoy where they will go next. But this book was a little too morbid for me. I had to skip some pages but was still able to keep up with the story.
Book seven in the Creed series, and it’s a great continuation of the series. Creed and Grace travel to Nebraska to help in a human trafficking case. Grace is now, amazingly, able to sniff out memory storage cards. In a house they are searching Grace finds three SD cards. From there they are sent to another house where a young woman has disappeared. Creed and Grace begin their search for the woman when a snowstorm hits, actually a blizzard. Searching in snow and cold, will Grace, who’s never experienced snow before, be able to pick up the scent. Grace again proves what an incredible dog she is. Not to give anything away, I’ll just say Creed runs into some very serious problems and is now missing. FBI agent Maggie O’dell, who is on the scene for the human trafficking case, is sick with worry about Creed, and is now involved in the search for Creed. (I should add here that Maggie is in love with Creed). Lots of fast moving excitement throughout the book. When Jason, who works with Creed, and his dog, Scout arrive to help in the search, Scout proves he too is an amazing dog. Kudos, Ms Kava, for another fabulous book.
If you're a dog lover who enjoys reading mysteries, you have to read Alex Kava's Ryder Creed K-9 series. She's created some high-octane thrill rides for one of my favorite casts in crime fiction. In Fallen Creed, she puts Ryder and his favorite scent dog, Grace, in the path of a snowstorm and a killer, and while I was anxious the entire time I was reading the book, I knew Ryder would come through-- and so would Grace. One of the most important things to know about Ryder Creed is that this former Marine K-9 handler can-- and will-- sacrifice his own well-being for that of his dogs.
In this latest installment, Grace is showing her skills in detecting electronics, a skill for which many trainers use food as a reward. Ryder refuses to do this:
"Many of the dogs that found their way to K-9 CrimeScents had been discarded or abandoned by their previous owners. Some, like Grace, had been on their own for long enough that they were skin and bones, scraping for what food they could find. To make that daily meal a reward for work rendered was something Creed would not even consider. Every dog in his kennel, whether working or not, deserved to be fed."
You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat animals, can't you?
Fallen Creed has fellow dog handler Jason and Creed's sister, Brodie, loading up a truck with their dogs Scout and Hank and driving from Florida to Nebraska to help in the search. Both suffer from PTSD, and Brodie is experiencing a growing attachment to Jason-- one to which he seems oblivious. While I'm on the subject of attachments, Maggie O'Dell's attachment to Creed deepens as well. This is a well-developed cast that is so so easy to get wrapped up in. I care about what happens to each and every one of them, whether two-legged or four-.
Another thing that I love about these fast-paced tales is that I always learn something: how scent dogs can detect electronics, how human trafficking is more lucrative because drugs can only be sold once but humans can be sold over and over (makes your skin crawl, doesn't it?), or how social media sites are one of the biggest threats to those in Witness Protection. It is possible to learn while feeling anxious about fictional characters...
While you don't have to start at the beginning of this series to enjoy Fallen Creed, I would hope that you choose to do so. (The first book is Breaking Creed.) There is absolutely no reason to deprive yourself of reading so many excellent books!
I just can’t get enough of this series. Ryder Maggie and of corse Grace are back and this story was crazy good.
Human trafficking takes them back to Nebraska and while they are there Ryder and Grace go missing.Evil is stalking this small town.
“Out here, every single crime is like a ripple in the water.” Pakula the Poet.
This was a epic edition to this long time series. I’ve read every book by this author and she never misses a beat. She had me on edge so much I had to put it down to breathe.
Creed and his trusty sidekick Grace travel back to Nebraska to assist in a human trafficking case. While there pieces of a body are discovered in a cornfield. Creed and Grace are captured by a pair of young women. Meanwhile FBI agent Maggie O'Dell is getting frantic. Another very good story, the 7th in the Creed series. I love how the MC trains rescue dogs into search animals and the very apparent love between the characters and the dogs. It just didn't quite measure up to a 5 star rating.
I enjoy a number of the author's murder mystery series, but Ryder Creed is my favorite of the bunch. This series is also my favorite K9 series (of the other three only one is something I really like, and it is a distant second to this. The is a hostage situation plot, which is not at all my preference, but that being said, I read it cover to cover one night (couldn't get to sleep until I finished it)--so recommended.
One of my favourite thriller series. It’s not that it has a lot of twists and turns, it’s being back with Ryder and his dogs, especially Grace. She sounds like the sweetest dog ever. Ryder and Grace find themselves in trouble and needing to be rescued. Maggie, FBI profiler, is present again and she receives some help from Ryder’s team. I’m thoroughly invested in these stories and even though the ending felt rushed and there were a few plot holes I was all in. Best of all I can finally take a book off my Libby tbr.
I love this series and the various characters. Of course, having a love for dogs makes the Ryder Creed series all the more appealing. The plot in this novel was exciting and moved quickly. I will admit it would be nice to have a main character remain unhurt! In danger, yes. But a possible life ending injury is not always needed. Regardless, excellent read.
Excellent book and continuation of the Creed series. While it seemed like forever to finally be able to read it,the waits as worth it. It was great to read that Maggie O’Dell and Ryder are realizing their feelings for each other—and how much Ryder cares for his rescue dogs. Quick, entertaining read and ideal for a summer read. Bring on number 8!
What an incredible ride, knocked it out in 2 days. Everyone is involved and out of their element. It was a close call for Ryder and Grace. Maggie and crew come to the rescue. Jason and Brodie totally trying to navigate themselves in a cold Nebraska snow storm. As a team they, all work together and conquer the cold and criminals. Definitely a another hit from Alex🐾🐾

Ryder Creed, a K9 handler, and his dog Grace have been asked to help Nebraska authorities with tracking down a human trafficking organization. While in Nebraska, a plastic trash bag is found with dismembered human remains, and an additional hunt begins. Another excellent addition to this fascinating series. Hopefully, the wait for Creed #8 won’t be too long.
I read . . . a lot. Everyone of the Creed books sucks me in and holds me till the last page. If you like a good suspense story with the cutest dog on the planet and a hero who is just doing what he can to help anyone, this is the book for you.
I loved the Maggie O'Dell series, then when Alex Kava spun off Ryder Creed, I couldn't have been happier. The mystery is engaging, the characters are very relatable and how can you not love the animals!
This is a great series, have enjoyed every book! And finally Ryder and Maggie professed their love! Excited to read the next installment. Highly recommend
