Much of what we have seen in the previous five volumes continues: Takeo and Yamato are IN LOVE. But two things shift the direction slightly in this volume:

1) Yamamoto's mother has a baby! Prior to that, Yamamoto talks to Takeo's mother, where we get to see how his sweet generous strong nature came from, and then we get to see Takeo's sweetness extended to big brotherhood.

2) We find out the identity of a girl who has been writing (love) letters to Suna. If a serial letter writer is on the scene, can true love be far behind? We'll see!

Oh, and it's Valentine's Day in this volume, so we get desserts, in addition to babies and love letters. How much happiness can we stand?

RE-READ - September 1, 2025

The first time through, I read nearly half the series in one day, then I had to wait months between new releases, and it was agonizing. This time I'm reading at my own pace and still enjoying it just as much.

ORIGINAL REVIEW - October 4, 2016

How can this always be so awesome? We spend time with Takeo's mother this volume and discover where Takeo got his selfless desire to aid and protect those around him. The brilliant introduction of one new character in the first half of the book segues into another welcome cast addition in the second half. I LOVE THIS SERIES!!

A chapter of this series is almost guaranteed to be funny and sweet, but it can also get exciting like when Takeo was getting a little sister, or the Valentines Day / White Day that ended in a cliffhanger.

This isn't your usual shojo manga because if it was, I'd never make this far. The characters remain interesting and grounded which appeal to a larger audience.

3.5/5

Another adorable entry in this series. I enjoy the relationship between Takeo's parents, and I like how strong Takeo's mother is and how she's never portrayed as ugly or overly aggressive. Takeo and his mother are very selfless almost to the point they ignore themselves. This series has been very heartwarming and drama-free thus far.

Also, I think this volume teased a bit about the characters' futures.

I took kind of a long break from this series, and I don't know why! I still love Takeo and Sunakawa and Yamato, and it's fun getting to spend more time with Takeo's mom and brand new little sister in this volume. Plus the chocolates!

Re-read 2021: This was just such a cute volume! Takeo is all about Valentine's Day and is totally hyped about it, which was so cute! The kiss from the previous volume, while yay, I agree with the me from 6 years ago, it also looked so odd.
There is chocolate, dates, and lots of yummy food. Takeo's mom is about to give birth and that also took a big chunk of the book. I love how resilient the mom is, though I wish she would have also not gone so far at times. I get she is strong and independent, but you are carrying a baby! So I loved how eager Takeo and her husband were and how they kept helping her even though she didn't always want it (we could see she appreciates it though which made me smile). Congrats to Takeo on his baby sister! She looks adorable but man she is strong and big! I can't wait to see if Suna's lessons in English will do anything, but it is a cute idea.
I also loved the conversations between Takeo and Suna about love and about Suna not being that interested in love/that he just hasn't found anyone/doesn't really think it matters that much.
Ah yes, I vaguely remember what happens next and I believe I wasn't a fan of it. Eh...

_---------------------------------------------------

Yay, I finally have My Love Story Vol.6! Apparently I totally forgot to pre-order it, so I quickly corrected that and bought it, since I just adore this series!

The manga had nothing new for me, the anime already did a good job at adapting all these chapters. Still it was a great book, and it was so fantastic to see Takeo and Rinko back again. And to see that kiss again, because, yes, they finally kissed in the last volume. It was an awkward kiss, and I am not entirely happy with how it was drawn (it looked a bit smooshed/crushed). Though they can’t do much about the awkwardness of it all, since I guess with someone as big as Takeo you will keep getting it awkward, though I hope the next kiss will be less Takeo practically devouring Rinko.

This manga also has the birth of Takeo’s sibling, and my oh my, I still like that part so much. The mom just working like normal, while all the men around her worry and panic. It was just hilarious to see. Takeo’s mom is a real tough cookie, even during labour she will give her wheelchair to another lady who was getting her first baby.
And then the birth part, where Takeo was confused as the father. :)
His little sibling, well, not that little, is adorable, and apparently just as strong as their sibling and parents. I just laughed out loud when they grabbed Suna and didn’t let go. This is one kid who will not let themselves be messed with or others for that matter. I can see it grow up like Takeo, though I hope it will have the sense that the parents have.
Ah, I also loved the reaction of Rinko to the baby. It was adorable but also hilarious.

Then we also have Valentine’s Day and White Day, two important days, and I had kind of hoped that the manga would have some romance on those days. Sure, it was cute, but I was just sad we don’t see any more awkward kisses. :(

The next volume seems to have the story of Suna’s stalker/girl who likes him. Something we already saw in the anime (they really did a fantastic job adapting this manga, it is not often that this happens). I will still wait eagerly for the volume though, as it was a great (but also sad) part of the manga.

All in all, this is one heck of a volume with a lot of important events happening. I would still recommend this series to everyone.

I definitely think Suna is somewhere on the aro spectrum, and Takeo is grey-ace or demisexual. *stares* But this is just me speculating, heehee.

This story is cute but so effing repetitive. Honestly pretty much the same thing happens in every single volume. So far I only really love the first volume (yet notice that I keep reading!) Also, I only gave this volume 3 stars because of Maki 💖

Man, if I had ANY complaint about this volume, it's that I can't remember all the hilarious expressions Takeo makes and wish I could! LOL!

There were SOOOO many funny ones in this one that I couldn't stop laughing and would have to stop reading for a moment so I could calm down and focus! LOL! Aruko is SUCH a great artist and really makes Takeo shine (literally and figuratively)!

However, the first half of this volume was REALLY intense! I think I read half the manga in a good 30 minutes, (which is really rare for me) but I could NOT put it down!! I think this is the first time we see Takeo feel afraid/nervous and made me all the more thankful for Suna and Yamato being there to stand by him. I truly felt how things were like a whirlwind for Takeo and was SO relieved everything was okay in the end!! I especially loved seeing how happy everyone was, including Suna and Yamato! <3

We got SOOOOOO much Suna and Takeo this volume and I LOVED IT SO MUCH!!! Their friendship is GOLD and love how Suna laughs around Takeo and how much Takeo cares for Suna. It was really awesome seeing the roles reversed where Takeo wants the same happiness he has but wants it for Suna. (The whole conversation about who Suna would date was sweet, but also really really funny!)

The Valentine/White Day arcs(?) were SUPER awesome! I loved the White Day one especially because Takeo's gift was so meaningful! Not that Yamato's wasn't, but Takeo's gift really gave him a new appreciation for all that Yamato does, and really liked that. <3

Lastly, I like how the parents are involved and how great they are! (And funny! Definitely can't miss saying that! LOL!)

This was a very very good volume and excited to read more!!

Vol. 5 ★★★☆☆

This volume's not as focused on romance; it's also about Takeo's mom and her pregnancy. That scene of her giving birth just cracks me up. Chapters 20 and 21 in particular are my favorite, because it shows Takeo is fallible and needs to learn to rely on his friends instead of trying to do everything himself.

Takeo is once again the softest and most caring person ever. In this volume we kinda learn that he gets that from his mom and that's what made his dad fall for her. His sibling is also born in this issue!!!! My heart almost couldn't take how tender this was. There is also a valentines and white day plotline. Very enjoyable.

My Love Story Volume 6 by Kazune Kawahara is hilarious and heart warming, just like MOST of the previous volumes that came before it. The first part of the manga is about Takeo's mother/family and the second part of the manga is about Valentine's Day and White Day (on March 14th, in Japan, guys give gifts to the people who gave them a gift on Valentine's Day).

I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil it but this manga was very funny and really enjoyable. I finished it in about 45 minutes.

Overall, I enjoyed most of the manga so I'm giving it 5 stars out of 5

3.7 stars.

I don’t know how I feel about this series anymore. I’m kind of getting a little (just a teeny bit) sick of it. It’s getting to the point where nothing has happened at all.

Takeo is also, no offense, kind of annoying (I kinda feel bad for saying this, he’s a great guy) and wayy too overprotective like a parent. I also already mentioned this in my other review, but I AM SO SICK OF READING “I LOVE HER” when Takeo expresses his feelings about Yamato. JEEZ. I get it, okay?

Although this manga wasn’t the greatest, it was still okay and I liked it enough that I will be finishing the series. Still, I hope Takeo stops redundantly saying he loves Yamato (that’s the number one most annoying thing in this series). Takeo is also so innocent, it’s a bit annoying as well. I don’t think he’d be able to survive without Suna always by his side and helping him out.

Yay Takeo’s a big brother! It was awesome seeing just how much of Takeo’s personality, he gets from his mother. I’m so glad that his baby sister came out healthy and am excited to possibly see more of her. Also, Takeo and Yamato on Valentine’s Day & White Day we’re being precious as usual. I’m curious to learn about this mystery girl and why exactly she likes Suna so much.
