I was a big fan of Spider-man: Life Story while it was coming out and this Annual is a brilliant addition. Focusing on J Jonah Jameson, we delve into his obsession with Spider-man and how an old man has to deal with a life wasted. It’s a great one shot that could potentially be read and enjoying without having read Spider-man Life Story

Grazie Zdarsky.

An encore to the world of Spider-Man: Life Story, featuring J. Jonah Jameson, driven by his relentless obsession to expose Spider-Man as a menace to society, suffers at his own hand in his decades-long aim to bring down the superhero. Despite evidence of Spider-Man's heroism, including having saved Jameson's own son, Jameson holds onto this signature stamp of denial and revenge. Just as in Life Story, the annual companion piece allows these characters to age in real time, in what ultimately becomes a character study and sad tale of a wasted life in the blind pursuit of hatred.

I need to read the mini series before this and I also need to read more by Chip Zdarsky because this was beautiful.

Like the very best Spider-Man stories, you root for characters to figure out what's best for them, and they sort of do, but not before going down some painful paths.

Jameson always seemed to interest Zdarsky, who wrote the (previous?) best JJJ-focused issue, and does an equally great job here. His characterization rides the line between one-dimensional and just nuanced enough.

Bagley, Hennessy and Milla do an excellent job with this issue, as they (or 2/3 of them) did with the series. I might like Milla's work more than the previous colorist, if I'm being honest. There's little action in this issue, so the "acting" has to carry a lot of the weight here, and they nailed it.

I'm a little unsure about 90 year-old Jameson donning a battle suit to fight an octogenarian Mac Gargan, it sorta brings things full circle with the Spider-Slayer, but also just takes me out of it. I think I'll go with it in the end, but it's a bit too silly for what's been a really grounded issue.

All I ever wanted to do was have people hear me... I just forgot to have something to say.

Doplněk k "Spider-Man: Life Story" zaměřený na Jamesona v průběhu věků. Nic více a nic méně. Ovšem ani o píď méně kvalitně.

An excellent portrait of J. Jonah Jameson and an interesting but all to brief look at how his story might have played out if Marvel comics wasn't so insistent upon constantly rebooting its characters and stories.

An unexpected and beautiful follow-up and companion to one of the best Spider-Man miniseries of all time.

Chip Zdarsky remains the one working writer who can still make Peter Parker (and his supporting cast) as compelling as his iconic status deserves.

A nice little side story. More hopeful than the previous six issues. Wouldn't mind periodic glimpses into this universe.
