The eighth task of the prophecy is proving to be the strangest one yet.
Speaking of strange, my father is asking to come along so he can help me. He says he’s conflicted and wants to get to know me now. Only Zeus’s help consists of him trying to kill a creature I specifically, emphatically told him we were not going to kill. What kind of help is that? Not the kind I need, that’s for sure.
And Athena is on vacation. My twin is sunning herself on some tropical beach while I’m trying to convince the Gorgon Hydra she created not to turn to me to stone like it did all the female Dragons.
Sure, I understand that Athena’s embarrassed. Who wouldn’t be in her shoes? Instead of restoring the remaining two Gorgons back into humans, she turned them into a Dragon-headed Gorgon Hydra. I say everybody makes mistakes and that she should try again. However, I can’t really repeat what she said to me without wanting to stab her with my energy sword.
The Fates are ignoring my summons. Normally, I’d be happy they were out of the picture, but I have a ton of questions and no answers. The rest of my pantheon isn’t much better. They’ve gone back to their lives like it’s all over.
The only person not ignoring me is my birth mother, Metis, but technically she’s dead. Her ghost is keeping me company for a while because I needed someone with some Titan Witch skills. Currently, she's the only one willing to listen to me. Guess that happens when you tether a shade from the Underworld. I thought I’d hate her when we met, but actually, she’s not so bad.
Athena’s not the only one who needs a vacation, but Cale and I are too busy trying to save everyone to take that kind of break. Hopefully, we’ll live long enough to close on the house we found. Is that too much to ask?
- - * - - My name is Atlanta, Goddess of the Doomsday Prophecy. Haven't you heard of me? No? Bet you've heard of my twin sister, Athena, the Goddess of War. Sure. Everyone’s heard of her. Everyone knows my infamous father too - Zeus - but to me, he’s the man who likes to pretend I don’t exist. Shunned by my birth family, I grew up with the Muses as sisters and friends. Not having any of their inspiring tendencies is the least of my Goddess sins.
"Not aMused" is the 5th book in the Nine Heirs and A Spare series which has its roots in Greek mythology.
Author's This series is a mix of paranormal (think Dark Fairies, Pegasi, Lares, Minotaurs, and Dragons), women’s fiction (think issues like aging), and fantasy with some romantic elements included to make it a fun read. You can count on the good guys (or rather good women) winning some of their battles, but that’s the only promise I can make. As with all my work, there will be lots of laughs along the way. Enjoy!
I am an active dreamer and find writing to be the best way to use my creativity. Needing to satisfy both sides of my brain, I have become a cross-genre author of contemporary, romantic comedy, fantasy, science fiction, and paranormal romances.
I feel blessed that my books appear on bestseller lists for humor, romantic comedy, space opera, and more. I crave laughter from all my readers and focus my attention on making that happen as often as possible.
I love to hear from anyone who has read my books. Each reader is a hero or heroine to me. I am inspired by you.
I cannot believe that we are almost at the last task of the prophecy. So much was happening with number 8, I actually wondered if it was ever going to be completed. This is not a book that can be read as a standalone. You will miss too much background information.
This series is really so much fun. The Greek mythology combined with the fantasy, magic, danger and modern day aspects all intertwined is really captivating. Dragons, sprites, the Muses, hellhounds, and other fictional characters are so interesting. Donna McDonald's imagination took me to places I would not have imagined.
All the characters are engaging, especially how they interact with one another. I enjoyed Cale and Atlanta's relationship. I got humor, snark, sarcasm, anger, frustration, lust, and lust. Some of those same emotions also ran through the interactions of the menagerie of characters in the book.
I am looking forward to the last task. I can't wait to see the path Atlanta and Athena take as sisters. What happens with Indar and Athena? Where does Athena, Atlanta, and Zeus' relationship goes from here? What will happen with Cale and Atlanta? Also, what happens when the last task of the Prophecy has been fulfilled?
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

It seems there were some unsewn threads hanging around from the last book that must be settled before our Goddess can focus on task eight of the profecy. This doesn't mean though that we stay without adventures, because life, as we know it, throws around enough challenges on its own, even without a profecy to solve. And who knows how the intended changes would be intertwined with task eight? This is certainly a message pf trust your selfless instincts and you'll be on your path. I'm not saying much, just that we gonna dive even deeper to dragon history. ;) Yet again, Donna keeps surprising us with the unexpected, sometimes shockingly strange - which becomes normal, as we go along. But first of all, she stays true to her fabulous humor, so we will get our amusement dose, as expected - in spite of the title... :D Which means the book is just as much fun as the other parts of the series. I feel a bit sad to let this story go slowly, because now I know that there is only one book left after this. This story brought me so many happy, serene, joyful and fun moments, it will be tough to find an equivalent that hits the high bar that this series has set for me. Anyhow, very much looking forward to the last book, and I hope Donna keeps writing such great works for us.
First, I have to say I still find this series hilarious. I mean, gods and goddesses are just as fallible as all of us mere humans. And the author has a wonderful sense of humor, and a handle on the absurd. Loved it. In this eighth task of the prophecy, Atlanta has seemingly impossible hurdles to jump. Just when she thinks she has life, in the short term, figured out? The Fates and Gaia seem to be changing the rules. Constantly. Don’t tell her but I find that hilarious; I don’t want to get on her bad side.
This book is more about Atlanta, her…family, and the prophecy. She and Cale also go thru changes in their relationship but to me, it happens in the background. Until it doesn’t.
Still wanna smack Athena upside the head. And don’t get me started on Zeus. But I adore Atlanta’s strength, Cale’s devotion to her, and Atlanta’s new friends that she learns to lean on; more and more with each story, imho.
I can’t wait to read the next book – I really need to see what she and Cale come up with for a new home…
Atlanta, with Cale, is working on the 8th task. To complete this task, she needs the help of her twin, Zeus, Aphrodite and a host of others. She keeps procrastinating on this task. It doesn’t help that she still hasn’t really come to term with Cale hosting the dragon king, Kyril. Or that she is still looking for acceptance from Zeus and Athena. And she is in the process of buying a house. So many things going on.
This task is probably one of my favorites because Atlanta pushes Indar and Athena together with a little help from Eros, and while everything is not coming up roses, you know they are together. They have to save the other female dragons, and Cale has to fully accept Kyril in order to have the full power of the dragon king. But you just don’t know who is going to come out on top.
This book has all of the characters changing and growing. I’ve loved the development as the books progressed. And I am really bummed that the next book is the last one in this series. The entire series has been amazing.
Nine Heirs and a Spare Book Series by Donna McDonald is great, just what I needed to read actually. Sometimes a little time away from reality helps to put life in perspective. Not aMused was the perfect escape read. Of course it took a bit of time to wrap my head around the goddess of war bonding with a sibling. However, that made the story so much more interesting.
Atlanta and her Dragon Champion along with several gods, goddesses and other mythical creatures tackled the eight task of the prophecy. Weirder than the others and still as difficult, this story is one action-packed story full of sass as only the deities can pull off with humor. Of course, I worried a bit over Cale at times, I do have a sweet spot for that one. I had thought this would be the last of the series but was overjoyed to read that one more is coming.
A series not to be missed. Not aMused is the perfect addition to this awesome series.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Not aMused is the next book in the Nine Heirs and a Spare Series. Atlanta and Cale continue their journey solving the eighth task of the prophesy. This is by far one of the strangest journeys! Atlanta is the estranged twin daughter of Zeus and since he lost his memories he has been trying to amend for his past actions. He now has offered to help Atlanta. Her sister Athena is sulking over her dragon love because they had a fight and she isnt sure who to believe her father Zeus or Indar her dragon. We get to once again see the Fates in action, Hades has gifted Atlanta with an orb of her birth mother, and of course we can’t forget the Pegasus, dragons and Hellhound puppies. Also, Atlanta and Cale’s relationship continues. What a great adventure this is solving the prophesy!! Can’t wait for the final prophesy!
On the next to last step of the Doomsday Prophecy Atlanta is stalling out. Her relationship with twin Athena is still nonexistent, Zeus says he wants to get to know her, really?, and she is still reconciling Cale having a dragon king inside him. Atlanta’s emotions are all over the place, but she is keeping her eye on the prize to finish the prophecy. Every bit as enthralling as the previous books, I want to see her finish but she is such a great character I don’t want to see her go. One more prophecy, one more book, can’t wait!
I love how Gods and Goddesses are just like us, in that they have issues with bonding especially with twins Athena and Atlanta as I always thought twins were extremely close but we are learning a lot about this family while trying to fulfill her prophecy. Atlanta is not only trying to bond with her siblings, trying to fulfill the prophecy and buying a house what more can a goddess be expected to do. What a great series.

Here's what I thought of Not aMused by Donna McDonald:
I gave it 5/5 stars.
changes and transitions
Atlanta faces a series of changes and challenges during her quest to save the Greek pantheon from extinction.
Shifts in perspectives, awareness between herself and others, and her connections - or disconnects- make the perception she has of herself and who and what she understands as family markedly different.
Intense, suspense and drama filled action and personal and shared reflections.
Filled with a wide variety of magics - great fun to read.
This is Not Amused written by Donna McDonald. We are still with Goddess Atlanta as she attempts to complete the tasks of the doomsday prophecy. Her allies come and go and are sometimes quite deceptive. Will she be able to complete the next task or will all of the ones she trusts somehow betray her? It’s got a lot of exciting things going on in such a little space. I can’t wait for the amazing finale!!
The Goddess Atlanta is trying to complete the tasks of the doomsday prophecy, now working on solving the eighth task. She can’t seem to count on allies because they disappear or are not reliable. Right now, Atlanta and Cale are still struggling. And she can’t get with her twin Athena who is sulking somewhere. Will she be able to complete this task? And the next and final task? Will she gain allies to help? Or can she only expect betrayal?
Goddess Atlanta is working through task eight of the prophecy. This task has many factors to it. She needs to bring her twin Athena and Indar together, release the stone dragons, change a Gorgon Hydra back into priestesses and help the dragon queen. All while dealing with Metis her dead mother, Zeus her father and her boyfriend’s changes. The humor, mythological magic and family drama throughout this book series keeps you coming back to read more.
This is the 5th book in the Nine Heirs and a Spare series from Donna McDonald. This is the continuing story of the goddess Atlanta and Cale. These two are now working on the 8th task. To complete this task, it is going to be difficult as she needs the help of her twin, Zeus, Aphrodite and a host of others. Can they complete this difficult task?.

Oh, I love this series more and more with each installment. This book has it all, including some needed healing between a really, really dysfunctional family. I can not recommend this series enough, or this book. Please read this one. It answers a ton of questions. We'll worth it.
Another task complete, yay! I can't wait for book 6 go be released. This series is very entertaining, the always action, adventure, fun, laughter, and and some tears. The characters are funny, quirky, irritating, brave and loyal. I highly recommend this series. Happy Reading!!!
I completely enjoyed this wonderful Paranormal Story, Greek Mythology is a favorite of mine. The story as a whole was amazing and having these characters work on the task was a super fun read! Atlanta & Cole work well together and I Loved It!!! No Spoilers!.

Gods and Goddesses, Athena is back and with more family drama than ever. We all know change is hard but who knew it could be so difficult for Gods. It is every bit as engrossing as the previous books in the series. I could not put my book down. Will Athena be able to complete the 8th task in the doomsday prophecy? You'll have to read along to find out.
I enjoyed the world of the Greek gods. Having to live in modern times and go through changes none of them are ready for makes life interesting. Having to mature as a people, isn't something that anyone adjusts to easily. I love the story and all the drama that unfolds.
This latest addition to the series was well written and kept me coming back for more thanks to the entertaining characters along with the engaging story line. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I love the emergence of strong, female characters that are middle-aged in the story. It is something I have not seen before and the trend towards it is amazing. Great series!

I love mythology and this series combines some of my favorite things. Romance, mythology and humor. What more could a girl ask for? Loved this book. It kept me intrigued from start to finish.
