Wonderful Exciting Inspirational Cozy Mystery that is perfect for Holiday Seasons!!!

Divine Regrets is Book #8 in the Divine Cozy Mystery Series. This is a wonderful exciting Inspirational uplifting cozy mystery that is perfect for Holiday Seasons.

Joanna Pepperdine is kidnapped, she is the owner of Second Chance Mercantile and Divine Baked Goods Shop in the city of Divine that is a halfway house for women who have been released from prison. She helps these recently released women convicts integrate back into society with a safe place to live. Residents of Second Chance are working to keep the business and the farm running.

Jo's friends and residents of Second Chance are worried sick and searching for the missing Jo with the hope that they will have Jo back safe and sound.

I enjoyed this book and this series very much. The story was well written and very entertaining, it's so compelling it keeps you turning the pages, it keep me glue to the seat cheering and hoping for Jo to survive her ordeal. It's full of mystery, suspense, actions, adventures and excitement while there are many laugh out loud scenes especially with Henrietta the chicken that dislikes Laverne so much that it keeps chasing down Laverne and pecking at her head. I like the relationship that Jo has with her friends and residents in Second Chance Farm, they are like a family; they are creating bonds that help them better themselves, support each together and care for each other.

This is a great book and a wonderful series with inspirational messages; it teaches us to realize that we should never take those we care about for granted and it's nice to help people and give them a second chance. The halfway house for women convicts is a noble undertaking and I admire Ms. Callaghan to use it as main setting of the series.

I highly recommend this book and this series to any cozy mystery fans and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

All 9 of the books in this series were fantastic. If you are looking to read mysteries and amateur sleuthing, this series is for you. Also, the main character of the book (Jo Pepperdine), as well as the residents on her farm all depends on God to help them through their troubles. There is praying at the dinner table and turning to the lord for advice. There are also 2 angels mentioned in each book which gives me the good kind of child every time they appear. These giant men are Divine’s angels and they protect Jo’s land and the good people on it. Ain’t God awesome to send His angels?! Yes, he cares for us that much. I realize this series is not non-fiction, but I do believe in angels and I do believe God cares for us even when we don’t care for ourselves.

This series is different than any of the other mysteries and sleuth books I’ve read in the past in that not every book has a murder in it. Sometimes there is just a mystery and troubled times that fall upon Jo that she has to dig into to get answers. And each book (except the 9th) contains at least 300 pages which to me is really cool because I definitely didn’t want this series to end! What else is different about this series is that Jo owns a farm and houses women who have been recently released from the local prison. Jo is helping the ladies recover from being criminals to being people who can survive in society. She has a halfway house. So, this has definitely been different, because of course Jo has her challenges with the ex-criminals and with helping them get out into the world on their own.

If you want some positive reads, some Jesus and hope, some angels, some family and friendship, and some plain old goodness and the good guy winning in the end - you need to read this series! 5 stars!

Oh! I forgot! There is also romance added in here, too.

Everyone Has Regrets. It’s How We Deal With Them That Matters

God prevails. I don’t want to give out spoilers, so…..
This was an enjoyable quick read. While not quite up to par with some of her other books, Ms. Callaghan always writes with her heart.
We learn more about Jo’s background and how she was able to do what she does. The story had a background of Halloween, but wasn’t specifically a Halloween story. It had some good reminders to learn self defense, because you never know what’s going to happen.
I hope the next book brings Jo and Nash together. Maybe for a Valentine wedding. Hint Hint! That way Delta could come up with So many recipes!
This is a Christian based book, but not overly religious.

We all make mistakes. We all have regrets. Will Miles, Joanne Pepperdine’s brother learn from his mistake and NOT repeat it? Jo Pepperdine is a special lady running Second Chance Farm and main character in Divine Regrets by Hope Callaghan. While the story is fictional, there is an element of truth – in the news we read about missing people. Are they kidnapped or abducted or blackmailed? Why? What is the outcome? Also do inmates on release receive second chances? Are people of means as kind and generous as Joanne Pepperdine? Divine Regrets is a page turning read that is both entertaining yet has the reader ponder contemporary questions. Three tasty holiday recipes included.

Jo Pepperdine has offered so much to her residents for their future. Divine Regrets brings many things to mind, and the realization that such a caring person is so willing to help others is a postive for the women who call this home. There are many happenings that reveal just how hard they all work together. A bit of excitement happens when Myles cannot be found and Jo is kidnapped. This series is a pleasant read, and if you are new to Hope Callaghan as an author, what a joy you have awaiting you. I anxiously await each read and am often useless because I read all night to find the answers to the mysteries!

Love all her books.

This a wonderful book I don't know where her ideas for books come from but they are always a good read. Her books never have sex or curse words. I almost read this book in one sitting but finally had to sleep. So if course I picked back up this morning. If you like books with a little mystery and goods friends helping each other then I think you would love all if her books. She has other series books that just as wonderful as this one. If you have not read any of her books you should try them. Most are available on kindle unlimited. I started that way and now but all her books as soon as I can so I know I can always re-read them.

Divine Regrets

I couldn't put this down until I finished reading the book! It was really suspenseful. No Pepperdine is wealthy, but she is using her wealth to help women who have been in prison become rehabilitated and learn to live a healthy productive life, learning skills, earning a nest egg for themselves and to be respected. Unfortunately, her wealth leads to danger for herself, with people determined to get while of her money. Finally a book without grammatical errors! Hallelujah!

Another awesome mystery!

The Devine mysteries keep getting better. This one was especially exciting and a little scary in parts. Now that I've read several instalments, the characters are like friends and I really enjoy hearing about all their predicaments. Along with the suspense was some funny parts. Laverne and the chickens was hilarious. I kept think what would happen if Laverne ever met Elvira Cob from the Savannah series. I love those quirky characters with the rough edges. I'll be starting the next one when I'm done with this review. 😊

Whew! Hang on to your hat. This book is quite a ride! After Jo frees herself from a kidnapper, her brother goes missing. This book has everything you expect to find is Ms. Callaghan’s work…well developed characters, a wonderfully complex plot and entertaining storytelling. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review.

They keep getting better!

I told myself to only read a couple of chapters a day so this installment would last longer. I started the book yesterday and finished it today!! It's so good, I just couldn't put it down. All the residents plus Delta and Gary, the newlyweds, and Nash are helpful in Jo's latest "adventure". I have loved every book in the Divine Mystery Series, but I must say this is the best one so far. I can hardly wait to find out what happens next!

First let me say it is so nice to sit down with a good mystery book that you can sit down with and know from the beginning it is going to be clean. No swear words, no sex. Just plain old fun reading and trying to figure out who done it.

In this novel a sister and then later her brother are kidnapped. And they need to find out who and why before it is too late. Hope is a wonderful writer. You can read this book as a stand alone - but why not buy them all? They are a joy to read.

From the very beginning to the very end - non stop action! What a fabulous cozy!
Jo finds herself in a terrifying situation and must rely on her wits to save herself, and then Miles is the next one to go thru the same nightmare! It is up to the residents of the farm to figure out what is going on and who is out to get them. With surprises at every corner, this installment of the Divine series is absolutely fabulous!!!

Review of this book.

Another heart warming story. A lot of drama, a little romance and a ton of suspense. I.. would love to see another wedding in the future. I do not think it would change the way Jo and her friends continue to solve the problems that keep happening to her and around her. I love the author's way of writing. She has been blessed with the ability to write regular mysteries as well as Christian mysteries.

Christian cozy mystery. Some of the phrases are repetitive, but an enjoyable quick read. While this was number 8 in the series, I read it as a stand alone novel, having not read any of the previous in the series. It reads fine without having read the previous books. The story has a feel of Jan Karon book more than a hard core mystery.

A really wonderful book

I love these books , Hope really makes you feel like you are actually stood watching everything unfold. I always feel uplifted when I get to the end. There is no smut, gore or bad language in these books. I love the characters they seem so real. I hope there will be many more books in this series. I had to give five stars in fact I'd give more if I could.

Ok

I expected this book to be more suspenseful according to the author but it wasn't. I agree with another review regarding technology capability to read email on your phone. There were a few other things I caught in the writing that was not as good as the other books in the series. Personally, I don't care for the character disliked by the chicken.

What Happened to Jo and her Brother?

Jo always seems to have trouble surrounding her. She's kidnapped, and no one knows where she is. Hope Callahan has written another book around the women who live at Jo's farm which houses five former female convicts and provides jobs for them in a bakery and mercantile. Ms. Callahan has done a great job of drawing characterizations.

Hope Callaghan writes clean mysteries from a Christian's point of view. This series is well written and Han has good doses of humor. If you enjoy cozy mysteries that aren't centered around bakeries then give her books a try. I have been keeping up with all of her series and found them all well written and well edited.

This series was a joy to read. They all had a great mystery and an inspirational message. The whole premise of giving people a second chance was the main message. Each booked focused on a character who had special talent to highlight and help with the mystery I can't wait for the next book!
