John Donoghue lives a simple life in the small town of Grafton. It isn’t much, but it is his home. He tries to keep to himself and stay away from the theatrics of the Wild West, especially since his older brother Muddy is the most notorious outlaw in America.
The last thing he expects when he leaves town to go hunting is for Muddy to pass through Grafton and murder half of the population. In his wake, he has shattered the lives of many people including the recently widowed Gwen Holmes.
Fueled by anger and her thirst for revenge, Gwen goes to John and insists on being taken across the county to find the outlaw. John knows that his older brother has to be brought to justice one way or the other. Even if it means that John has to be the one to kill him.

It is easy to think that outlaws get bad because of the way they are brought up, but people are responsible for their own actions. When John Donoghue was young, his brother, Muddy, killed a man for his money. When their parents died of Tuberculosis, John became a bounty hunter and Muddy became an outlaw. Years later, John has settled down in Grafton. He comes back from fishing and hunting to find that Muddy and his gang has murdered half the town. His friend Gwen was raped, her husband and children murdered. John needs to bring his brother to justice and Gwen isn’t going to let him go without taking her with. She wants to see them dead. She turns out to be critical to bringing the gang down and as much as a hero as John.
I was forced to give this junk one star in order to leave a review but I didn't make it a quarter of the way into when my credulity was strained so far that it snapped.
First, we have two outlaws armed with six shot revolvers shooting up a town leaving 50 dead. Even modern mass murderers armed with fully automatic weapons don't rack up a score like that. Then our intrepid frontier hero arms himself with a 20th century modern bolt action 'Italian' Carcano rifle. Finally, that same 'Gallant Knight of the West' lines up "aluminum cans" for target practice.
That was just more equine excrement than I could handle.
Definitely not one of the best books by Mr Storm. I've read several books by this author and I would have to rate this one at the bottom of the list. There are numerous statements in the book that make no sense at all plus lots of wrong words throughout. But it's also filled with misspelled words, missing words and wrong words in the wrong places. This is a consistent problem with Amazon Kindle and probably not the author's fault. Many of the books I've read on Kindle have this same issue. Hoping your next book is better.
Unfortunately this was not one of his better books. I gave it 3 stars simply for his effort and the struggle I had to read it through to the end. Seemed that not much effort went into the writing and plot beyond a lot of violence. Also why the constant reference to “the woman”, when she obviously had a name - Gwen! It seemed demeaning to think of the woman you supposedly loved from afar for years as the woman! I had purchased two of his books previously and must have liked them, however I doubt I will read anymore of this author for a good while.
A page turner. Catches you on page one and holds you to the end. Set in the 1800s a notorious outlaw gang causes poverty and fear in Utah. The head of the gang, Muddy, is ruthless and has no feelings for humans. His brother John is the opposite. Well loved honest and the one assigned to stop him.
I love the characters. It was ashame things had to end the way they did with John's brother. I'm so glad he ended up with the love of his life, even though it was a terrible way for it to happen
A .22 rifle carried by a bounty hunter! Only if he was hunting rabbits. Straps on horses is usually called harness. This novel is science fiction not old west fiction.
Wonderful adventure to enjoy. The author Does a great job of weaving action with inner feelings of the characters. I would recommend the book to any western enthusiast.
Good characters, decent action, pretty much a generic Western story. The good guy is too good, the good women are too beautiful and the bad guys are really nasty. Generic.
