This is a Romance, and this is the second book in the Billionaires of Boston series. I have to say I really did not like the beginning of this book, but I loved the last half of this book. I could not really connect with the characters in this first part of this book, but the last half I had finally connected to the characters. The storyline was ok, but it was nothing that stand out. There was some steamy parts, and I think they where done good. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Desire) or author (Naima Simone) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Man was this book a scorcher that pulled on the “feel strings” of my heart. Mycah Hill comes into a bar to escape, and breathe a little, only to find a broody Achilles nursing his woes away too. Bonding through cheeseburgers, beer and shots, their attraction to each other was undeniable!

They had “Connection. Affliction. Gratification.”

I always love the way Naima describes her heroines and her heroes. She literally paints a picture in my minds eye that stays fixed as I’m reading.

“The woman smiled at her in thanks, and Achilles glanced away as another bolt of lust speared him in the chest. And lower. A dimple. Of fu*king course. Because cheekbones as sharp as broken glass, eyes the color of melted dark chocolate, a mouth a shade too wide and a sinner’s prayer past too full weren’t enough. Because tight, springy curls the shade of sun-warmed honey wasn’t overkill. She needed dimples.”

“Unbidden, like an animal scenting its mate—there he went again with the fanciful shit—he followed her.”

All it took was one unforgettable night with these two, and it cemented something so strong within their souls. Imagine their surprise the next day when Mycah shows up for a new job position and Achilles is her boss—yeah. That Part. Of course it can’t just be one night with these two because they are definitely mated and drawn to each other like magnets. Throw in a surprise baby, and I salivate.

I found my eyes getting teary hearing Achilles talk of his past. Being raised by a single mom, and getting arrested. He absolutely made my heart melt with empathy. Mycah’s story pulled on me also with her snobby parents, and feeling of entitlement. They treated Achilles horribly and they suffered for that also.

I don’t want to give too much away, but once again Naima has checked all the boxes for me without even trying. She is such a beautiful writer.

Naima Simone has done it again with Secrets of a One Night Stand, the second book in her Billionaires of Boston series. She has managed to incorporate all the feels. The series revolves around three half brothers discovering each other and coming together after the death of their birth father. Cain Farrell (Vows in Name Only) is the oldest and heir apparent of the Farrell fortune. Achilles Farrell is the bi-racial middle son. He’s an ex-con and outcast of the wealthy class and society. Kenan Rhodes is also bi-racial. He’s the youngest and the charmer of the trio. He was adopted as an infant by a wealthy Boston family. It’s Achilles’s turn to fall in love and his story was written to perfection.

Secrets of a One Night Stand starts three days after Achilles finds out his birth father’s will stipulated that he and his brothers had to work together and run the family company, Farrell International. Not only do the brothers have to work for the company, but they also have to live in Boston for a year before they receive any proceeds from the will. If one of the brothers doesn’t comply, then none of the brothers receive anything. Being thrust into a world he wants no part of, Achilles finds himself at a bar, where he meets a stranger and shares a memorable one-night stand. “Here’s to strangers meeting for a night.”

Three months after meeting the woman of his dreams, Achilles comes face to face with her again. This time, Mycah Hill is interviewing for the VP of Operations at Farrell International. At twenty-nine, Mycah is the oldest daughter of the wealthy Hills of Boston. She’s a black woman in a field dominated by older white men. She’s worked hard to get where she is and she doesn’t want people to think she slept her way to the top. This is why she doesn’t acknowledge having met Achilles and later asks him to not disclose their night together.

The two are from different worlds, but they can’t deny their attraction and passion for one another. And passion is what they have in spades. I loved these two because they are so tethered to their pasts and present, but are desperately afraid to break free. They’re afraid to be vulnerable and open up. I loved that they had a willingness and desire to fight for the other. Achilles has this great ability to read Mycah and situations around him. People tend to look down on him or simply disregard him, but he is so much more than he shows the world. Achilles is a good man, who doesn’t know his worth. It takes Mycah and his unborn child to make him discover all that he truly has. These two were really perfect for each other.

I can’t wait to read the third book in this series, The Perfect First Date, featuring younger brother Kenan. He is a charmer and he knows it. I have a feeling there is so so much more to him than he allows people to see, even his brothers. His story is a friends-to-lovers/fake relationship romance. I’m definitely expecting it to be fun. Plus, I think his older brothers will have something to say about him falling in love.

I was already invested in this series from book one, but let me tell you…Mycah and Achilles just made this series even better! I just wanted to hug him, and well, gently shake her from time to time (plus, punch a few other people). I cannot wait for Kenan’s story next.

Niama Simon always surprises me with the deep. I don't know why... But anyway this was. I like Achilles and Mykah a lot. Her parents were wretched as they were written to be but they brought down my enjoyment of the book. I'll be looking forward to Kenan's story. Happy reading!

Mycah Hill is shocked to discover the man she had a hot one-night stand with, the man she can't forget is her new boss. But she can't turn down the job she has also wanted: VIP of Operations. So, Mycah is determined to stay away from him. But that doesn't last and when she ends up pregnant, she finds herself having to make some tough decisions for her and her child.
What can I say! Naima Simone has done it again. Her writing style draws you in and keeps you swiping your kindle until you get to 100%. I read this story in hours. I am definitely a fan. She has a way with words. I loved both Achilles and Mycah. Both their backstories made me root for them individually but also as a couple.
And, my, weren't they hot. Naima Simone knows how to deliver the heat. So, when you read, be prepared - with a glass full of ice and water.
Although, more the melt-off-the-pages intimate scenes, I really enjoyed their love story. I was cheesing at the end.
More please. I can't wait to read Kenan's story. And now, I must see if Cain and Devon had a story.
Thank you #Harlequin #HarlequinDesire #Netgalley for this wonderful read.

Wow.

Naima Simone completely swept me away with her gorgeous writing and heart wrenching storytelling in Secrets of a One Night Stand, the second in her Billionaires of Boston series from Harlequin Desire.

Achilles Farrell arrived in Boston after receiving a letter and a ticket from a lawyer, one who represented a father he didn’t know anything about. Apparently this wealthy and powerful man loved to cruelly pull everyone’s strings, even from beyond the grave. Achilles wants nothing to do with him or the responsibility he’s now pulled into, except he doesn’t feel he can destroy what his newly discovered brothers are working to achieve.

Mycah Hill is from the wealthy and rarified world that gives Achilles the heebie jeebies. But she’s facing her own many challenges. When these two meet, the chemistry is immediate. The respect builds slowly, and trust and beyond even more carefully as these two guardedly circle each other.

Naima Simone’s writing is so powerful, and Achilles and Mycah’s passion leaps off the page. These two care deeply and are fiercely loyal to those who’ve earned it. Secrets of a One Night Stand is pure pleasure as Mycah and Achilles find ways to handle their pasts and forge a future together. It’s an excellent addition to this series.

**Thanks to Harlequin and Netgalley for the free review copy ***

This was a sweet and spicy quickie read. The hero Achilles is big grump ex convict who found himself a billionaire after his biological father kicked the bucket. The heroine is a career oriented woman with toxic parents who control her life. These two have an explosive one night stand and go their separate ways as strangers. Until Mycah is employed by Achilles's company. There's a lot mistrust on the hero's part, he has been burned by another woman in the past so he's all growly and emotionally constipated. She's not willing to risk her career by sleeping with one of the bosses. But they are horny for each other and eventually give in to their lust which results in surprise! A bebe!

I mostly enjoyed the book while I was reading it but then I'd put it down and completely forget about it. It's well written but nothing really stands out and ultimately I found it forgettable. There are multiple love scenes in moderate steam level. I liked that the social commentary was organically woven into the story and didn't feel heavy handed.

Overall, I'd recommend it for it's multicultural rep and for the grumpy hero.

This was an enjoyable read up to a point. The hero and his half-brothers are very likable. Their bonding scene packed an emotional punch as did the pivotal scene near the end of the book. The heroine was also very likable, but she had extremely toxic and narcissistic parents.

The h wanted the H to meet someone and it didn’t happen, which is surprising given their common interests. I didn’t find the support of her parents’ lifestyle to be realistic for a working woman. Nor could I make the leap of love with this couple because I didn't feel the love between them. I needed to see more scenes with them, together.

This story is not neatly wrapped up. I feel like Harlequin sacrificed the epilogue for this story for the sake of featuring sneak peeks of books from other authors.

Why not give readers an epilogue AND the sneak peeks?! SMH! I was left dangling and I don’t dangle. Lesson learned!

The book cover is awesome!

"He had to give up an entire year of his life, remain in Boston, with half brothers he didn't know, and run a company he had no clue how to operate."

That's what's on the will of the father he never knew before. Achilles Farrel's life is full of surprises these days. The new one? Interviewing people for the company's VP position and coming face-to-face with Mycah Hill, the woman he shared an unforgettable night with 3 months ago.

Take a few tropes I'm not a fan of (billionaire, boss/employee office romance and "one night stand pregnancy") and ask Naima Simone to do something with it and then say hello to a sultry love story.

"Satisfaction punched him in the chest when her pleasure-glazed brown eyes met his. Because he'd put that look there. The feeling was primitive. It was arrogant. But fuck if he didn't own it."

Achilles Farrell and Mycah Hill come from troubled backgrounds, and both are successful despite their pasts. Their chance meeting in a bar leads to a steamy one night stand. A month later, Achilles is suprised when Mycah interviews for an upper management position at his family business. Their messy backgrounds lead to cautious steps forward as Mycah is as fiercly protective of her professional reputation as Achilles is with his heart. Both families dynamics affect their relationships differently and I loved the way Naima Simone pulled it all together. This was a great read and I look forward to the conclusion of the series. (This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone)

I've been waiting for this story since I read book 1 almost a year ago!

Mycah Hill grew up among the Beacon Hill elite in Boston. Her parents are wealthy snobs, and live far beyond their means, and she foots the bill for most of it, to protect her younger sister, who is still in high school. She gets a job as a VP at Farrell International, and is unnerved to be working for her one night stand from 3 months earlier. But, she needs this job, and the money it provides, so she's going to suck it up and make it work. Even while pining for Achilles the entire time.

Achilles Farrell is a computer genius, who grew up in Seattle with a single mother, and grandmother, who are both gone now. He never met his father, or knew anything about him, until after his death. When he received a summons to attend the reading of Barron Farrell's will, in Boston, he was shocked. He was even more shocked to meet his 2 half brothers, Cain Farrell and Kenan Rhodes (this all happens in book 1). Afterward, he went out to drown his sorrows, and met Mycah. They had one night together but she's haunted him ever since. Now, he's agreed to stay in Boston for a year and help his brothers run the company, but he's still feeling pretty out of place. When Mycah shows up and gets a job at Farrell, he is shook and not sure how to handle being around her.

Mycah and Achilles had a connection like whoa from that first night they met. They fully indulged in it, expecting never to see each other again. But, once they're in the same office that connection still pulls at them, and it isn't really convenient for either of them. But, eventually they just couldn't fight it anymore, and it was so delicious seeing them give in! Then, an unexpected pregnancy changes things between them again, and they have to navigate even more emotional land mines.

Mycah's family was absolutely WRETCHED, and I felt so bad every time she was hurt by their horrible words or actions. They were almost caricatures of all the worst things you might think about wealthy people. I wish we had gotten a bit more insight into Mycah's relationship with her sister Angel. Angel was mentioned a lot but rarely seen, and I would've liked to see them together more. Achilles was afraid to let anyone in, including his brothers. He an Mycah both had past romantic relationships that scarred them badly and scared them off of ever trusting people again. So, they each had a lot of emotional work to do.

This author's words are always fantastic, and that was still the case here, but I almost wish this particular story wasn't a category, so she would've had a little more space to flesh out some of the sibling relationships, for both main characters. Other than that, I enjoyed this story immensely, and I really believed in Mycah and Achilles' connection. Also it was HOT, which is always appreciated! I'm excited to finally get into Kenan's head in his book, which is coming next!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. This review is my personal opinion, voluntarily given.

What a pleasure to devour this book!

I loved this story so much! Both Mycah and Achilles have a lot of hang ups to work through in order to trust someone enough to really let them in. They each bring out the best in each other. Their explosive chemistry and deep respect for the other just drive them closer together. An unexpected pregnancy could either bring them closer or tear them apart. Mycah's parents infuriated me with the way they treated her and how they treated Achilles. I loved Achille's brothers. I highly recommend this book!

Naima is one of a select few authors that could give me a billionaire romance and make me enjoy it. But I think the thing that really drove my enjoyment is that A. We have a Black woman in corporate world that gets to acknowledge how hard it is for her to succeed compared to her white male (and to some extent female) co-workers and B. an MMC that doesn’t *want* to be a billionaire and didn’t ask his piece of shit sperm donor to leave him anything. It takes some of the sourness of billionaire romance out for me!

Besides that, I loved this story. One night stand to boss/employee to accidental pregnancy is a tropey little trifecta but Naima brought out the fears and struggles and emotions between these two about class difference and workplace fraternizing and stuffed just enough angst to keep me biting my nails. I fear you are all sleeping on category romance and you should stop because there’s phenomenal stories here and Naima’s are a perfect example! Loved!

Steamy office romance with a lot of heart!

Achilles is the Farrell brother who is vastly different than his cultured brothers. He's still adjusting to the bombshell dropped by their father's passing. The story starts with the nearly anonymous but unforgettable one-night-stand he has with Mycah just before his life is changed by his father's will, then jumps ahead several months to her accepting a job working at his family's company.

Wow - the chemistry these two had was off the charts hot! Achilles is every alpha book boyfriend dream come true, and Mycah is strong and sassy enough to more than hold her own with him. These two were absolutely on fire together and I loved every bit of it.

The best part of the book is how quickly their hearts took charge and elevated their relationship well beyond their physical attraction. They work so well together on every level, pure poetry in motion. The pregnancy itself wasn't a surprise, but how it affected all the parties involved - far more than just our main couple - was unexpected and brilliantly executed. Their HEA was joyously breathtaking.

I couldn't have loved this romance more. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I loved the banter between Achilles Farrell and Mycah Hill when they first meet in the bar. They challenged each other, which added to the depth of their one-night stand.

Until they meet again months later in a conference room during Mycah’s interview. While pretending not to know Achilles, Mycah has added to the hurt and betrayal Achilles has encountered in his life.

In secret they continue their affair until it all explodes in their face thanks to Mycah’s money-hungry, society-snobbish parents.

It was nice to see Cain (the oldest brother) and Kenan (the youngest brother) featured prominently in the story. And it was Mycah’s talks with Achilles that led him to embrace his brothers and build a true relationship with them, not just one based on their inheritance.

This story has drama, sexual chemistry, money crazed, interfering parents, and……. A happy ending.

This is book two in The Billionaires Of Boston Series and it is Mycah and Achilles story and omg it is a must read. Mycah and Achilles have history as they spent a night together which resulted in her being pregnant not realising that her new boss is the man that she is pregnant by but what will the outcome be as the chemistry between them is so strong but she needs her job. The characters and storyline pulled you in right from the start and you find yourself hoping that Mycah and Achilles can sort out the between them and get a chance of a happy ending. I couldn't put this book down as it was a real page turner and so addictive. I have read many books by Naima Simone who is an amazing author and writer and I have enjoyed reading every single one and I definitely look forward to reading many more.

How do you handle feeling alone even though you’re surrounded by others? Like the book before it, there are a lot of big emotions in this story. A bunch of them are tangled up in the confusing feelings Achilles and Mycah have for their parents. There’s also some heavy baggage from previous romantic relationships tripping the pair up. I really liked these two even though there were times that I wanted to take them and shake some sense into them. My heart bled that Achilles didn’t feel confident enough in the connection to his brothers to fully trust them. And it ached to see the horrible treatment that Mycah put up with from her parents. I adored the ending and I’m dying to see what’s going to happen with the youngest Farrell son.

First, I just love this cover. This would be one of those books I'd pick up because the cover caught my eye. Then, I get past the cover and find out it's a surprise pregnancy romance. Oh, wait! A surprise pregnant by the billionaire romance, and it starts with a one-night stand. Yeah, I'd say this one covers a variety of tropes, all of them delicious. The one-night stand then find out you're working together in some capacity isn't new by any means, so a lot depends on how it's executed. Naima Simone does that quite well along with giving us a couple that has an almost magnetic attraction between them. The story is fast-paced and engaging, it's a sexy romance with interesting characters, and it's easily read in an afternoon or even a before bed romance to send you off to sleep with a smile.

Achilles was a damaged and cautious man who loathed those who were a part of the more affluent community but suddenly found himself in the mix. Achilles discovered he had to run the company along with his half-brothers for at least one year.
Achilles and Mycah were drawn to one another at first sight. They gave in to the attraction and had a one-night stand. This was just the beginning for the two of them.

Achilles had to get used to the unfamiliar territory, and Mycah had to deal with her parents.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It had a nice and steady flow. I liked the chemistry between Achilles and Mycah. I am looking forward to catching up with his brother Kenan.

Whew, that was steamy with a big dollop of baggage on both sides! These two it off right away and that was hawt, hawt, hawt. But even then, you sensed the underlying personal issues they both had. Her’s stem from her family and his from a past relationship and life itself. Trust issues galore to work through, but these two cannot contain their attraction, and that just complicates things further. As they fall in love with each other, they learn to trust again, and as they learn to trust again, they allow themselves to be true to their hearts. Little bit of reverse grovelling, and they are on their way to the HEA <3

This is not what I expected? Achilles and Mycah undeniably had chemistry but I actually did not see them falling in love so the ending felt rushed and everything was solved in the span of four days. I wish we had seen more intimate moments and discussions for the development to seem realistic. The dialogue was also awkward and didn’t feel organic or natural. They jumped form one subject to the other for the pace to move along but it didn’t always make sense in the story. This was still enjoyable and the steam and brotherhood were good but this was disappointing

Mycah and Achilles Story was truly delightful! Potent emotions and powerful desires combine into an enticing mixture that goes down sinfully easy. I liked Mycah and adored Achilles. Hot and emotionally wounded, he was 100% pure catnip to me. The sparks fly, the banter zings, the steam sizzles and your heart melts as this wonderful book hits you with epic feels and major swoon. I am electing to post a unbiased review of my own accord.

Gosh…Achilles and Mycah set my kindle on fire. I loved how their love overcame so many obstacles. They were so great together and I’m so glad they recognized this. I absolutely hated Mycah’s parents. Those folks worked my last nerve. I was glad when Mycah handled them. Anyway, read the book. You won’t be disappointed.

I literally could not stop reading this book once I picked it up. A - it’s freaking sexy. B - I LOVE MYCAH AND ACHILLES!!! Oh my god, the pain they are both in, so much hurt, so much baggage, but these two brilliant and beautiful people have a chance to make their own path…if only they are willing to risk it all. I loved this book!!

Also…look at our resident charmer, Kenan, having a moment and seeing things so clearly. I can’t wait for his book, I love him so much!!

Delectable characters, steamy chemistry and all the feels are racing with the second book in Naima Simone's Billionaires of Boston series! SECRETS OF A ONE NIGHT STAND brings us the story of the first of Cain's illegitimate brothers, Achilles ... and he is fine! I'm looking forward to Kenan's story next!

I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a family saga of unknown siblings playing out as they get to know each other and each find love.
