My name is Jude, and like everyone, I’ve got secrets. Unfortunately, mine involves my family’s part in the creation of the Awaken virus, which turned normal men into violent, ruthless alphas three years ago. It was an accident, but now we’re on the run while I try to right my wrongs.
Jude
I’ve spent three years hiding from the government, trying to find a cure for the alpha wildling phase, those volatile initial days after the transition. If I can do this, it will change everything.
There’s just one problem–Griz. He’s the New York alpha pack’s strategist. Brilliant, kind, possessive. Perfect. I’m his mate, although I have to keep him at arm’s length. He loves me because he doesn’t know me–not really. What’s worse is I can’t tell him, because I need his pack to keep me safe until I find a cure. But the blazing, simmering need between us is undeniable, making it hard not to reveal my truth to him.
If almost ending the world and having a doomed romance with a hot alpha wasn’t enough, my father’s been acting increasingly strange. His behavior leads me to believe he’s up to something sketchy with our research. I can’t let Griz and the pack be at further risk because of my work, but I’m terrified of what will happen when the truth gets out.
When we’re forced to flee the Compound, and I’m in close proximity with Griz every day, it all comes to a head.. I’ve got to tell him the truth, but what he’ll do with it is anybody’s guess. Possibly kill me, definitely kick me out of the pack.
There’s no way he could ever still love me, though...right?
Sleepwalk is the fourth book in the Alpha Compound series, by Anna Fury. This dystopian MF omegaverse romance features a tormented heroine and resourceful alpha finding their happily ever after.
Just kidding, but I did cycle through those emotions at least twice during this read.
Anna Fury did it again. Just when you think you know what you're going to get in the next installment of Alpha Compound, she pulls the rug from underneath you and has you liking it.
Our favorite Alpha Compound friends are hitting the road to escape the Task Force. Their main stop is a pack camp in Canada, where only the pack alpha and a handful of unmated omegas are happy to see them. During this trek, our favorite pack strategist Griz has made up his mind to come clean to researcher Jude about his feelings. He's known for three years that she is his omega, but these two have been walking on eggshells around each other.
His love is not as unrequited as he thought, but secrets and circumstances are stopping Jude from completing their bond.
These two are a beautiful mess. Griz is a spicy alpha-roll who despite his efforts to put himself first, cannot really help but cater to Jude's needs. He is loyal and sweet; he gets bonus points for knowing his way around the kitchen. Jude is smart, and while she has not come to her full powers, her real omega strength is being an empath. She is quick to observe and address how people feel with the right amount of sympathy. Ironically, she is equally as fast to suppress her own emotional needs.
Abundant is the amount of angst in this book as these two toggle back-and-forth with their emotions and connection. While it normally could get frustrating, Anna does a great job in inserting humor, suspense, action, or spice to avoid a monotonous emotional tug-of-war.
If there was ever a question about Anna Fury's ability to write spicy scenes, I have one word for you: Omegamatic. Each book in the series just levels up on the spice, and I cannot emphasize enough this tip: You MUST have water within reach.
While this book brings us to a whole new setting, the fantastic world-building remains. Details of the landscape and new characters are infused into the story without feeling overwhelming, and we find ourselves falling in love with them as much as we love the main characters in the Alpha Compound pack.
That said, this book can very much stand on its own, but I highly recommend you read Books One through Three to get the full effect. You also get glimpses of events that will affect Book Five's couple, who happens to be near-and-dear to my heart, and will leave you begging Anna to release it soon.
** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. **
Omg the ultimate story so far.. With all those storyline’s that have lead to this amazing book. Has been worth everything. We have there full pain history and heart ache. Until griz starts to get naked and makes Jude want more but with her massive secret she can not tie her self to him. But as you can imagine it a full roller coaster ride of heat chemistry and love that’s between these two. Griz’s letters…OMG. Knife to my heart.he’s such a sweet alpha he’s my fav. But there is a super twist with this book one I. Didn’t see coming wow keep reading you will. Be shocked can’t wait for the last book next with Alice
***** Rating: 4 stars Steam: 2.5 flames Genre: Dystopian Omegaverse Triggers: Major Plot Cliffhanger, Abusive parent ***** First and foremost, I adored Griz… he couldn’t have been a better alpha. His letters, his kindness, patience and compassion had me swooning throughout the book. He was simply a good alpha/human and if Jude doesn’t want him… I DO! My heart broke for him and everything he did for three years waiting for his omega to finally come to her senses!
The Alpha Compound has been compromised and the group has to move to a new location before the Task Force captures them. Griz and Mitchell have been planning this escape for years and now the time has come to put that plan into action.
Jude has known for three years that she is Griz's mate, and Griz has been patiently waiting for her to come to her senses and let him in. But Jude's secret and vile and evil father (OMG I can't stand Richard) prevents her from taking that leap with Griz. Jude has been gaslighted by her father her entire life... and she is convinced that Griz will reject her (or worse) once he discovers her secret. I felt terrible for Jude's ordeal.
Jude wants and needs Griz more than anything else and Griz wants and needs Jude more than anything else, now if they can just get past that pesky secret. Meanwhile Griz's strategies for wooing Jude are simply fantastic! Oh my goodness, he was amazing, did I mention I think he is my favorite alpha?
And here I am….totally enjoying Sleepwalk, giggling (the Omegamatic was amazing), swooning (Griz was soooo swoonworthy), warming up to the new characters from the new pack, and anxiously awaiting Jude and Griz's HEA….I was content, happy, and smiling…
And then there was the MAJOR plot twist/cliffhanger and everything changed… my reading experience changed from that happy content feeling to soul crushing sadness and rage…I will leave it at that.
I have enjoyed this series and recommend it and I look forward to seeing what the author does in the final book to fix my broken heart.
I swear this series is going to prematurely age me and I'M FINE WITH THAT. REALLY I AM.
I loved being back at the alpha compound, even if things are getting rough for our pack. Knowing that the Task Force is not far behind, the pack is forced to split up. Most of the pack joins a local pack while the rest escape to Canada. For now, they are safe with Stone's pack.
Griz, the strategist, can finally breath, but not well because Jude is always around him. For three years Griz has loved the scientist and has been pushed away each time he attempts to get close. What Griz doesn't know is that Jude has a secret so terrible, he would never be able to look at her the same again. Their love could never be.
The tension in this book, ahh! I felt like I was being teased, but unlike Jude, I was ready for Griz to go all alpha. I completely understood her hesitation because her secret is very serious, I'm just an impatient person.
The ending of this book RUINED ME AND PUT ME BACK TOGETHER BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THAT. All I gotta say is that Alice and Mitchell's book will be the death of me.
Oh My!! I need to Sleepwalk my behind straight to the 'compound' because these Alpha men are coming in damn hot with a side of sweet. Griz, Jude and their 3 year angsty slllooowwww burn finally comes to a head in Sleepwalk. Since the series beginning I've been dying for this story, and oh boy it did not disappoint. Ok... Let's talk angst... oh god the angst, I mean the ANGST just about killed me. The push and pull, the secrets, the off the steam-o-meter charts chemistry, and the pure love between these two.... I mean how did my heart (and panties) cope? Seriously... my heart ached for these two, and I'm not going to lie but damn I was on edge waiting for Jude's secrets to surface. I can't even with this world and characters Anna Fury has created. The continuing plot is gripping, the existing characters you can't help but love, and the introduction of new characters and storylines has you excited for what's to come. And just when I thought Anna Fury was leaving me a little wrecked but with a happy heart she slaps me with an epic what in the tarnation plot twist and cliffhanger. My heart is NOT ok and I need Book 5 ASAP.
The storyline is pretty interesting, told from both POV. The characters were not really interesting, in my opinion. I was so tired of Jude denying herself and blaming herself that I almost didn’t finish this book. There was some good spicy moments, but I ended up thinking that Griz deserved better.
A Dystopian Shifter Romance Alpha Compound Series Book #4 Sleepwalk Authour: @annafuryauthor
“That you’re mine, and you always have been. I’m grateful what happened led me to you. I’m in awe of your mind and your resilience.”
"Now and always"
🥵 the sexual tension between these to hot damn. Omg, those letters swoon-worthy 🥺
Jude is doing everything in her power to keep Griz at arm's length because she had a secret, and this secret could break them. Would he still want her after learning her truth? Griz seems to think there isn't anything in the world that can change how he feels about her. He's respecting her choice to be apart from and remain friends, but after three years, can they both keep holding back?
Jude has been through so much in her life and she works so hard to find happiness and any way to help the alpha most importantly Griz, it breaks my heart that she continues to be knocked down by her father. I've never hated a character more them her father, but because she had to deal with him for so, it makes her a very strong person. As always, Griz is always there to support her even if she won't let him. Can this stubborn girl let her alpha in?
This book was definitely the book of secrets and lies because I was not expecting that twist, Anna, that one hurt. I can't get enough of these characters, and I'm so happy to be introduced to more. This was a very emotional book, and it hurt my heart, that being said, perfect story for these characters.
I absolutely eat up anything Anna Fury writes, so obviously I had a great time with this one as well; but, out of all the fmc’s written by Anna that I’ve met so far, Jude has gotta be my least favorite.
I’m just gonna say it—she didn’t deserve Griz!!! I don’t care that she’s been trying to reach a breakthrough for the past three years, keeping that shit to herself for so long was selfish. The keeping things a secret probably hurt Griz more than the secret itself. But, he is perfect so of course he would still forgive her! 😭😭
Aside from that, the audiobook was another banger of a production, AND it’s Duet—what else could you ask for? The narrators throughout this entire series have been perfectly paired with their characters, and I definitely recommend eyeball reading along with the audio for the best experience!
This is absolutely the hottest thing that Anna has written and my smutty black heart ATE.IT.UP.
I honestly thought Pen and Samson would hold the top spot forever (from Wake Up Alpha) but damn Jude and Griz are phenomenal. I wanted to shake some sense into them at times, but their love for one another is just so pure, that a zillion obstacles couldn’t stop it ❤️I honestly just want my own Griz..he is such a cinnamon roll alpha - soft but hard in all the right places *😈*
This book gives you angst, sexual tension, spice (unique scenes too 😜), and leaves you wanting for the next installment! You should definitely check out The Alpha Compound Series, you won’t regret it.
I really enjoyed the plot twists and the overall storyline in this book. I’m also really excited to see how some secondary characters play out (spin off series pretty please!). My biggest issues with this book are 100% personal in that I just never liked Jude. Don’t get me wrong, her and Griz are INSANE together. I just wasn’t rooting for her to get a HEA. It is hard to explain if you haven’t also read the book, but part of me didn’t feel like she deserved that HEA and Griz. But, having said that, I also feel like you aren’t supposed to like the FMC for most of the book. Overall I liked the story and would love to read a potential spin off series from it!
Well well well. Here we are finally(!) at Griz and Jude's story! I've been so looking forward to this, I knew it'd be a doozy since the prequel novella and it more than certainly lived up to the anticipation. Another gem of a story in this series, which somehow manages to improve on the awesomeness of the previous books each time.
Spice and steam? TICK! Drama and tension? TICK! Great characters? TICK! Hooky plot? TICK!
Probably my favorite of the series Griz and Jude's story is everything I hoped for it to be. After reading the prior books, I knew that their tale would be a slow but passionate burn. Their love for each other becomes an impassable feat when they are in one another's company daily. The tension, sexual and otherwise, only winds them both up tighter. And when they finally let loose it is epic. Jude's relationship with her father just continues to deteriorate, just as they begin to make more progress. Her brother's recovery is slow and so hard. It's nice to see such a strong brother sister relationship in a book, especially after all they have been through together. But what I Really wasn't prepared for was that twist at the end. I never saw it coming and I can NOT wait to see how everything plays out in the next book.
So many unexpected twists! And finally, Griz and Jude! *swoon* great installment to this series, I enjoyed it very much and I’m reeling from the ending… starting book 5 immediately!
You will want a Griz in your life after reading this book!! He is just the best, I didn’t think Orion or Samson could be beat but Griz is just chefs kiss fantastic! I’m so glad that I dived in the Omegaverse world and that it was Anna’s books that introduced me to my new favorite place!
Griz and Jude’s love was 3 years in the making. You could feel the pining between both of them building in each book you read. I love Anna for that, her character development makes you truly feel like you know them! I absolutely cannot wait for book 5! I need the final chapter about my favorite Alpha and Omega family!
It's been a long hard road for the MCs Griz and Jude, but in this book, things finally get to a head. This book had like 10x the angst of the previous book, and it was absolutely amazingg. Griz and Jude are one of my fav couples in this series (I say this as though the remaining four aren't also my favs xD), and the author did their story complete justice.
Also this book had so many cool secondary characters? Starting with Jude's brother, and the head of the new pack Stone, and many more introduced characters, I'd have to say this book is my fav of the four in terms of secondary plotlines. Some of the characters are set-ups for the author's spinoff series and I am extremely excited to see them in action!
And finally, that final plot twist and cliffhanger 🥲 my heart is wrung out, I'm crying so much for Alice and Mitchell. It was a brilliant plot twist, and I'm at war between being amazed at it and being shocked at it :) it's an understatement to say that I'm excited for book 5! 🤍
I definitely devoured this one. While Samson still owns my heart, Griz and Jude made it hurt and swoon. I loved their story and their emotions. The tension and torture of the slow burn my goodness. But it was so worth it. This series is a gem and I am so glad to know Anna and read her books. The next book is going to literally destroy me after everything that happened.
I have been dying for Jude and Griz to get together since the first book so this one is so special. A slow burn throughout the whole series that turned into a HOT FLAMING BURN when they finally get together. But still so sweet, so loving. Their relationship was amazing.
AND THAT PLOT TWIST. Let’s just say, I don’t think anyone saw that coming. And book 5 can’t get here fast enough.
I am over this series. From day one it was constantly said that Robert, Jude's father is sketchy but they let him collect information about them anyway AND let him verbally abuse his daughter for four books. I don't think that that's very believable and it was a constant source of frustration for me. Not a good read.
This story was dragged for 4 books. I could not bring myself to like Jude. She tortured Griz for 3 years holding in to a secret that she thought would lead to her rejection. Yet she rejected Griz over and over again. Her character was selfish, mean, toxic and totally unlikable. After Brady, Carmen Connor saga, this just fell flat .
🔥 “Tell me exactly what you want, omega. And if I like how you ask me, I’ll give it to you.” ~~~ Jude is such a kind, brilliant, resilient and compassionate woman. And what unimaginable strength she possesses to keep such a secret and do everything in her power to make things better! She’s absolutely amazing and I loved her so much!
And Griz is just the best! He’s strong, protective, determined and fiercely possessive. Even more, he’s so kind, thoughtful, patient and absolutely brilliant. Aaaaand he cooks! He’s absolutely magnificent and I adore everything about him!
I loved absolutely everything that happened between the two! There is so much longing, tension and angst! And a dangerous secret stands on the way to their happiness. But Jude and Griz were undeniably made for each other and their chemistry was absolutely fantastic. I loved how dedicated they were to each other’s happiness. And the letters! Oh, those letters were heart-melting! And when you think the passion they shared couldn’t get any hotter.. Well, I have one word for you - Omegamatic!
In addition, the storyline and the worldbuilding kept me glued to the pages till the very end. I loved the new characters that we got to meet. And don’t get me started on the FREAKING BOMB that was dropped in the final pages! I. Just. Can’t.
On a side note, I loved it when a favorite author’s book is mentioned in a favorite author’s book! It’s so awesome!
Overall, the story is another phenomenal addition to the series. It’s filled with suspense, danger, fast-paced action, twists, drama, scorching hot romance and magnificent characters.
I couldn’t put it down and loved every single page of it!
A garbled, "Arrrgh!" followed by a stronger, "NOOOOO!" Then an expletive starting with f and ending in er! - and that was just me!! Ah man, that twist punched me in the gut! Don't you love it when an author can shock you? Doesn't happen to me often these days, so I especially appreciate it.
So, I was thrilled to see Griz and Jude finally got their own book. I spent most of the book screaming at them, "Just talk!!" - LOL
Griz is all kinds of wonderful. A calm, measured man with Kenyan heritage. Big, strong yet compassionate. And of course, a great planner. Oh, and he cooks. (*swoons*)
Jude is all kinds of messed up. Her father is a douche!
Watching those two desperately trying to get together yet distancing was excruciating pleasure. I laughed at his 'other arrangements' - fun to read a different spin on that (that's all I'm saying!).
There's also a new pack to contend with. And Jude's brother who's struggling to return to himself after The Task Force evilness.
All kinds of exciting and emotional! I think this is my favourite in this series so far. I need the next one NOW!
Oh my goodness! I was so excited to read Griz and Jude's story. Griz is such a sweet soul and has so much love and patience for Jude. I felt so bad for what he had to go through but was so happy that he finally got what his happily ever after. Jude really went through a lot, and I felt bad for her. The secret that she kept was a really big one and I did feel conflicted at times about her keeping the secret. I honestly think that if she just told the truth in the beginning, a lot of stuff could have been avoided...sure there still would have been a lot of drama, but I don't think she and Griz would have suffered as much as they did.
I will say that I felt kind of bad for Mitchell. That plot twist was crazy! I don't want to spoil anything, but I have to admit that I think Jude's secret was way bigger than Mitchell's secret. They both kept big secrets for three years, but it seems that everyone was quick to forgive Jude and quickly took their anger out on Mitchell.
I can't wait to read Alice and Mitchell's book next. I know it's going to be a good one.
So it’s not 5* because there were some continuity errors in the book. E.g they were in the kitchen, then she said she was soaking the bed with her slick and then suddenly griz grabs her and takes her to the bed? So confusing and this is probably proof readers fault but it really puts me off when I see such blatant errors.
Jude is great and you knew from previous books she was clearly abused by her father for years. I already had a feeling that her father had something to do with the Task Force (and also Mitchell but I don’t really feel sorry for Mitchell but I feel awful for Jude because she at least is trying to fix her mistake).
Griz has been a firm favourite since day 1 and we actually knew about him and Jude from the first book but hardly saw them interacting much. He is a sweetheart and I feel bad he has spent 3 years like this. I’m glad they got a HEA even if it was at the expense of Mitchell and Alice’s bond.
Mitchell is my least favourite but I’ll read the last one to tie all the loose ends together.
Jude is a research and she has been helping Mitchell’s pack for three years alongside her abusive father. She is kind, caring, resilient, full of guilt and sorrow and she is also Griz’s omega. Griz is the pack’s strategist but his approach to the attraction that he feels for his omega have been taking way too long.
This book is the best of the series (I have a suspicion that I might say that again on book five) and I loved how Anna took her time for this slow burn because when she lights their fire they burn fast and bright. The story goes beyond their relationship and is packed with turns and twists, giving us even more layers to the familiar characters while adding amazing new ones.
If you have been reading Anna Fury’s series since the prologue, you are allowed to say with me: FINALLY!!! If you haven’t, go to her website, download the prologue for free, and start the journey to the compound.
Please oh please can I have an invitation to the compound?! The book was AMAZING! It was smutty and romantic and PERFECT!
I've read all the books in this series and I honestly thought I knew every secret there was to know about it. The prequel pretty much had me being like "Yep. I understand Jude and Robert." Then I read about Griz and I'm like "Yep. Completely get him too."
BOY WAS I WRONG!! This book blew all my preconceived notions out of the water. It was a wild ride of mystery and smegsiness IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY!!!
I've been rooting for my poor Grizzly Bear and his Jude since the start but I didn't realise how invested I would be until I read this book.
I give this book 5 pants and I don't care what Mr. Fury says!
Now I'm just sitting here dying while I wait for the last book in the series. :'(
Oh my gosh. I thought book three was my favorite, and then we got Griz.
Ya'll- Griz is the biggest teddy bear of a man. He is so patiently waiting for his Omega, Jude. The love letters, the patience, the cooking? Jude has a secret. It's one she thinks will completely change how Griz looks at her. So she refuses til she can't anymore, then its... phew.
I love how Anna included a male sex toy in this one. Griz has been waiting for three years for Jude, and as an Alpha, knotting, etc., it has made things a little.... hard (couldn't resist 😂). The scene where they use it together? Holy Motherforking shirtballs.
Anna has been hyping up this ending. How it's going to destroy us, and of course, my mind goes nuclear destruction, so I wasn't as cliffhanger upset as I could have been. It created a MAJOR plot point for the next book and was honestly something I never saw coming.
I have been WAITING for Jude & Griz to get their HEA since starting this series and my goodness, we certainly got it but not without some real bumps in the road.
The two have known they were fated to mates since they met but Jude's role as researcher for the pack along with her terrible father The Chemist & her secret regarding the outbreak of the virus, combined with Griz not wanting to pressure Jude into anything meant lots of longing looks & pining. Griz is the pack strategist but really he's a big, giant softie filling a shoe box with steamy love letters to his mate. I don't think I've rooted so hard for a couple to finally get together and there's plenty of *playing* before their bonding if you know what I mean.
I was shocked by the revelation at the end of the book & I'm nervous but definitely ready to see how the series wraps up in Mitchell & Alice's book!
An exquisite, simmering slow-burn to savor over and over again
Griz and Jude's story is filled with so much pain and angst. Honestly!! From the previous books we all know how utterly impossible it is to deny the call of a fated Mate.
Yet, Jude and Mal kept their distance from each other for Three. Whole. Years. Though it was through no fault of Griz. Jude feared her secret would tear apart Griz and attempted to distance herself from him in a bid to save him heartbreak. In this book, Griz finally stops being the perfect gentleman and decides that showing a bit more skin and teasing his mate might help him win over his mate when manners and distance failed to do so.
Things heat up. Tragic secrets come forth. And the Alphas are in more danger than ever. Can't wait to read the next one.
