Relative Uncertainty

Rate this book
Emma Bridges is a bright and intelligent 17-year old student. She is told as a young girl that the man she knows as her father is not her true biological father. Emma is shocked on hearing this the shock, in turn, piques her curiosity; a burgeoning curiosity that develops into a burning desire with each passing year, and she decides that now she wants to know more about her roots. And so begins her quest. Her search takes her on a tortuous trail that requires her to exhaust every ounce of her powers of tenacity and inquisitiveness, exploring old records, social media and even a visit to a local fertility clinic. She hits lucky but this is just the start of her journey that ultimately leads her to a stunning, life-changing surprise.Emma retains an air of resilience throughout, determined to maintain a ‘glass half full’ air of optimism, but even she is unprepared for the final twist in the tale as the story reaches its final, dramatic climax.

A very well written novel. Had me gripped from the first chapter. A very interesting topic and made me realise how complex being a sperm donor can be. It became obvious that this particular donor did not expect one of his children to track him down.
First class read. More please Alex.

A very well written book that left the punchline to the very end - it certainly kept me guessing and reading! A good first novel - would definitely read more from this author.

What happens when you discover that you are not who you think you are? For anyone that would be unsettling, but for a bright teenager, it's both unsettling and the start of a remarkable mystery and journey of self-discovery. An engaging read with lots of heart and questions about who we really are.
