Playing for You

Rate this book
I'm the office introvert, a blast of socially awkward sunshine on a stick. Donovan Taylor is a broody, gorgeous soccer player with a chip on his shoulder. We are not a thing.

But when my boss sends me to a pro sports banquet, I stumble in late and find the only empty seat next to the San Francisco Strikers' resident hottie and marquee player. Of course, I promptly make a fool of myself. I don’t even expect him to remember my name, let alone kiss me.

Or ask me out.

I mean, seriously, I program computers for a living and play mahjong for fun. I don't hook up with gorgeous green-eyed players and stroke their egos or their abs--although it’s a hell of a good time--because I know it will never last.

But my competitive streak runs hot, and Donovan may be the one person who can get me the promotion I deserve. All I need to do is convince him to join my company's virtual reality sports game--avoid falling for him in the process.

So what if his moves off the field are as impressive as his moves on it?

How hard can it be to win at his game?

Playing for You is an opposites-attract sports romance and a standalone novel. It is Book 4 in the Berkeley Hills series

Stacy Travis

Stacy Travis writes charming, spicy romance about bookish, sassy women and the hot alphas who fall for them.

Writing makes her infinitely happy, but that might be the coffee talking. She drinks a LOT of it.

She's worked as a journalist, camp counselor, TV writer, SAT tutor, corporate finance researcher, education technology editor, and non-fiction author. When she's not on a deadline, she's in running shoes complaining that all roads seem to go uphill. Or on the couch with a margarita. Or fangirling at a soccer game.

She's never met a dog she didn't want to hug. And if you have no plans for Thanksgiving, she'll probably invite you to dinner.

Stacy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two sons, and a poorly-trained rescue dog who hoards socks. And she's serious about the Thanksgiving thing.

I finally get a glimmer of affection in her eyes. She presses her lips together, but I can see the muscles start to pull on her cheeks. Finally, I get the smile I’ve been wanting, along with the gold flicker in her eyes. She blinks hard like she’s trying one last time to figure out if she’s dreaming.

What I love about the female protagonists in books by Stacy Travis is their intelligence and ambition, proof that beauty and brains can come in the same package. Tatum feels lost in a dream dating Donovan, soccer superstar and her polar opposite. Despite her obvious intelligence, she doesn't think she belongs with someone like Donovan, a guy who regularly dated supermodels.

Important issues are touched upon as Tatum works for a tech company in a male dominated industry. She's not receiving the same opportunities as the men she works with and often finds others taking credit for her brilliant ideas. She has a past of sacrificing her career for the sake of her partner, having lost some of her self respect and the desire to date in the process. Donovan helps her find her self worth, opening her up to the possibility of love once again.

I thought I was safeguarding something that was slipping from my grasp. Instead, I was building a prison.

Perfect as he seems, Donovan has his own issues with opening up completely in a relationship. Besides the bar fight and the public scrutiny which have followed him and his career from England, his fears about the future keep a wall guarded around his heart.

Opposites attract? Absolutely! Reservations aside, when Tatum and Donovan came together, it was pure fire! 🔥 I never once doubted their compatibility or their hopes for a HEA. They fit together perfectly like two missing pieces of a puzzle. My only issues were that I would have liked to see more focus on Donovan's fears and the HEA seemed a little rushed at the end. But the steam and the depths of emotions were on point!

Donovan reaches a hand toward me and cups my chin in his palm. “There’s only one fan I care about . And I’d give up the world to belong to you.”

Tatum has spent her whole career trying to prove herself as a woman in the tech field, putting her love life to the wayside. Now she has an opportunity the head a new VR game, but the only problem? It’s all about soccer, a sport Tatum has zero interest in. When she attends an event to schmooze the San Francisco Strikers’ team head to help with their VR proposal, she meets a handsome stranger. He makes Tatum feel things she hasn’t in years. But at the end of the night she learns he’s Donovan Taylor, the Strikers’ newest player & THE man of soccer. And for some reason that Tatum doesn’t understand, he can’t get enough of her.

Donovan left England to play soccer in the US after some bad publicity after a bar brawl. He wants to clean up his image and do what he does best—play ball. His publicist thinks having a girl on his arm will help that along and it just so happens he meets Tatum, who fits the bill and more.

Tatum & Donovan come from completely different worlds, but something just works with them. Tatum doesn’t want to sacrifice her career for love & is hesitant to open up, yet Donovan makes it easy for her to. But when Tatum learns the truth, she may say goodbye to her chance at love once and for all.

Playing for You by Stacy Travis is book 4 in the Berkeley Hills series. I have been enjoying the heck out of this series! It doesn’t hurt that it’s set around the area where I grew up (Bay Area, CA). Tatum is such a quirky & driven woman and I think she complemented Donovan’s personality well. The whole VR element was also a really engaging part of the story & the detail that went into this story is outstanding. I wanted so badly for Tatum & Donovan to have their HEA and I was not disappointed! And by the end of the book, I was nearly screaming seeing who the next two MCs are of book five! 4.5/5 stars.

Thank you Social Butterfly PR & Stacy Travis for my review copy.

3.5 stars!

This is the fourth book Berkeley Hills book, the story of the youngest of six siblings in the series, Tatum, and an opposites-attract sports romance that is cute and fun with a really sweet love story.

Tatum is an ambitious programmer in Silicon Valley whose latest project has her working on a virtual reality sports game. When her boss sends her along to a formal banquet celebrating Seattle’s soccer team (even though she knows absolutely nothing about the sport), she winds up sitting next to their hottest new acquisition, straight from the English Premier League, Donovan Taylor. They banter, and while there is some awkwardness, their night ends with a steamy hot kiss and Donovan wanting more.

Donovan is an American who is having trouble coming to terms with the fact that he is past the peak of his playing years in Europe. He’s still performing well on the field, but he’s had some negative press lately and is struggling to adjust to playing for the less-than-stellar US league, even though it was his choice and he’s being paid a fortune to do it. But he’s determined to give his all and lead the team as best he can. What he wasn’t expecting was to meet a nerdy computer programmer who interests him like nobody has in years.

It’s an opposites-attract situation when Donovan sets out to pursue Tatum, and she can’t figure out why. She’s nothing like the supermodels he usually dates, and they have pretty much nothing in common. But when her boss charges her with getting Donovan on board for their latest game development, she agrees to meet up with him. She has no intention of anything else happening between them… until their chemistry proves too hot to resist.

“Tatum…You are every fantasy I’ve ever had.”

This is a cute read with lots of fun flirting and banter. I could feel the attraction between Donovan and Tatum, and enjoyed watching them find their way to each other. Their relationship is playful and passionate, and though they do have some drama to work through, it’s not unexpected and it’s minimal, making this an easy and functional read with a hero who wears his heart on his sleeve, and some really sweet romantic moments.

“I haven’t stopped thinking about you since we met. Not a single hour of a single day. Not one.”

Even though this is the fourth book in the series, it can be read as a complete standalone with only minimal character interaction from previous books, and no spoilers at all - though I did love seeing the whole crew together again for family dinner. There’s a setup there for the final book in the series, and I’m excited about the possible direction of Cherry’s story!

I enjoyed this book. Donovan and Tatum are great characters, and their romance left me smiling.

3.5 stars.

If you love a great sports romance with opposites attract and sexy witty awkward banter than Playing for You is the book for you!
Donovan Taylor is a footballer, a striker and he has just landed a job in the states. He has been known to be difficult and a live wire but there is so much more to that story that what the tabloids reported. Tatum Finely is a intelligent computer wiz and she and the company she represents are on the cusp of introducing the newest gaming technique on the market in years. She has sat on the side lines and watched her male counter parts take credit for her research and her work but now it may be her time to shine. When her eccentric boss has her attending a swanky high profile banquet to get the word out these two worlds are about to collide.
A chance meeting, instant spark, wonderfully sexy intelligent banter and a chemistry that is sizzling off the pages. Get ready to fall in love with Donovan and Tatum !

4 star Review Playing For You (Berkeley Hills #4) by Stacy Travis
This is San Francisco Striker Donovan Taylor and compute geek and workaholic Tatum Finley’s story. From the first to the last chapter I was hooked on this entertaining read.
Fate often works in mysterious ways and when Tatum finds herself seated next to Donovan at a benefit she is shocked when he asks her out. These two could not be more opposite and yet they really worked well as a couple.
Tatum learns about soccer from Donovan and convinces him to join in on the new video game her company is launching. As they get to know one another, Donovan is intrigued by the fact that he has to pursue Tatum.
I really liked both Tatum and Donovan, he could see the real Tatum and he gave her the confidence to shine. Playing For You is a well written, witty story that will draw you in and keep you invested with the witty banter and chemistry that sizzles.

I have really enjoyed reading Stacy Travis' Berkeley Hills series because I've loved reading about the Finley siblings finding their other halves. Each story has been more heartwarming than the last and I never can put them down. I really loved Playing for You because I can see a lot of myself in Tatum as someone who would rather stay home and play a game with friends than go out to a bar.
Ever since Tatum Finley's ex-fiancé/ex-boss fired her for being to outspoken at work (aka standing up for herself in the male dominated field of computer programing in Silicon Valley) and then proceeded to break up with her she decided she's 1.) never letting a man come before work again 2.) she's going to stop speaking up for herself and just coast until she is a higher up and 3.) never trust a man again. So when her boss asks her to try and persuade the new marquee player for Strikers soccer team, Donovan Taylor, to allow them to use his likeness for their new VR soccer game. Tatum is determined to get him to say yes with the hope that her boss will then promote her to supervisor and she can escape her sexist supervisor.
Since Donovan signed his three year contract with the Strikers and moved from England to California he just wants to keep his head down and escape the negative attention he got for punching his sister's abusive ex. So the last thing he wants is to be part of this VR soccer game and have them pry into his personal life. But when he meets Tatum he can't help but feel an attraction to her and want to give her what she wants from her. But he keeps in the back of his mind that he's trying to rehabilitate his image, and his publicist things a steady girlfriend could help with that. While Donovan doesn't want to use Tatum like that he also sees how she can help him...
As Tatum starts to spend more time with Donovan, she puts her job to the side and doesn't push him on the game. She also starts to live more, she's going out with Donovan and not just spending her days with her older friends playing mahjong. Feelings between the two grow quickly but when secrets come out they might just end the budding relationship...

I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed this story. I am not sure if its part of a series and from what I gather some of the characters in the story have previous books and one coming up next but not having read those stories, I did not feel like I had missed anything by starting with this story.

This story was very original and I learned alot about the national sport of Soccer and also about Virtual Reality games. This book has A LOT of info on soccer, I felt at times it was maybe too much for me, but if thats your thing, I think its something that other readers might love. I still loved the story even with all the soccer info.

This is the story about Donovan or Donno or Don who is a soccer player from England who is a star soccer player but came to San Franscisco because of a scandal that he refuses to discuss. He meets Tatum at a gala announcing him joining the team. Tatum is a programmer of VR reality games and her boss wants Donovan to be a player in his game. Her job is to convince him to sign on.

Meanwhile Donovan's agent wants to show the world that Donno has been tamed by a woman but the only woman Donno is interested in is Tatum and she has a tough time believing he is into her.

This was a fun story and I enjoyed it once I got past all the soccer talk. I really liked both D and T and they made a super adorable couple. I also loved Charlie, Tatums boss and I love that he will get a story next with her sister.

Donovan and Tatum's story is sweet and steamy. It starts with a case of mistaken identity at a sports banquet, and Donovan is immediately smitten with the sexy, quirky girl who has no clue who he is.

Donovan is a football/soccer superstar who recently was traded to a California team after a successful career playing in Europe. He's fallen from grace, though, after a bar fight (he had good reason!), and is trying to come to terms with what he'll do next when the time comes that he can't play football anymore. He's grown tired of the glitz and glamour of the pro sports world, and Tatum is like a breath of fresh air. When his publicist thinks Tatum would make the perfect fake girlfriend for Donovan, he can't help but see more when he looks at her. She's fun and quirky and has no idea who Donovan is, doesn't care what he does for a living, just who he is as a person.

As it turns out, Tatum is the point person on a new VR game based on MLS players like Donovan. But she knows zero about soccer. At first, he's hesitant to participate, and she is so focused on her career that she's hesitant to really get close to him. But as their relationship progresses, and a secret from Donovan's past comes to light, will Tatum have to choose between a relationship and her career?

Playing For You is the 4th book in the Berkeley Hills series, but can be read as a standalone. There aren't any spoilers for the other books in the series, but there is a nice family dinner scene featuring all of the Finley siblings.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

This book has everything to love!
– the sweetest of characters, laugh out loud banter and a book boyfriend to give you all the feels!

Tatum is set on landing a promotion she deserves. All she has to do is convince the hot soccer player to agree to join her company’s virtual reality sports game—and, not fall for him.

I loved her drive, but it was her big heart that won me over, and there was no one more deserving of her love and support than Donovan. A man with the world on his shoulders, a passion for his sport and such devotion to his family. He’s not a stereotypical player despite his celebrity and we learn how great a man he is as he opens up about the scandal.

I fell in love with them and their story left me wanting more moments of them together.

Ms. Travis’ writing always makes me feel everything her characters are experiencing. I expected a romantic story but I received so much more.

I received an advance copy and honestly loved it! I’ve been following the Berkeley Hills series. Each can be read alone but it’s so much fun reading about each member of the family and their journey to a happily-ever-after.

Who does not love a hot soccer/football player romance? I know no one…
That said this book was so sweet! Steamy. And delicious!
Donovan comes back to America to continue playing soccer for the MLS. He ran into his sisters abusive ex and his fist told him exactly how he felt. Everything was captured and posted on social media pegging his as a trouble maker when he doesn’t give any excuse as to why he his the ex. After being the Beckham of soccer in Europe he gets a multi million dollar contract to play in the states. He’s struggling to come to terms that maybe he’s on his way out and this is his last chance at being the amazing player he is. But the question “what next” keeps coming back up. What does he do after soccer?
He’s tired of all the girls and the night life. He just wants to play soccer.
He then meets quirky Tatum. She works for a gaming software company and they will be working on a new VR game about the MLS soccer teams. She’s different. She’s fun. She’s smart and it’s exactly what Donovan wants in a relationship.
What could go wrong? Well in this book a lot …
Loved it all!!

Playing for You by Stacy Travis
I really loved this book. This was a new from this author and was very happy I truly loved and enjoyed it so so much. It will make you swoon and laugh out loud and keep you enthralled and entertained through out the entire book. Tatum and Donovan are simply a perfect couple. Tatum is a bit of a workaholic because of the demanding male world she works in she also feels she needs to be on top of it in order to compete in a male dominant profession. She’s a self described nerd who loves coding and programming. Then there is Donovan who is this soccer star. He has recently moved to the states to play with the Strikers football club. He left Europe to get away from some off the field drama and is looking for a new start. I cannot tell you how much I loved their fist interaction and meet it was simply hilarious. I truly enjoyed how the author made these two characters jumó off the pages of the book. I loved that this book was a stand alone yet a part of a series which I am going to go back and read to understand and recognize some characters that were named from other books. In all I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books from this author. A definite must read and must have book. Highly recommended.

4.5 Stars for Playing for You (Berkeley Hills Series #4).
If you love sports romances Playing for You should cert be on your TBR list. This is soccer player Donovan Taylor and computer programming geek Tatum Finley’s journey. I haven’t read all the books in this series so I can honestly say this book can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone.
Tatum is the office introvert, she is a tad socially awkward but she will do what ever is needed to succeed in her chosen career so when her boss tells her she needs to attend a pro sports banquet she agrees but when she stumbles in a late the only seat is next to the new star player for the San Francisco Strikers. What follows is Tatum learning about soccer as she gets to know Donovan in her quest to get him to agree to be involved in the new video game her employers are launching.
Donovan is used to women falling at his feet but Tatum is the complete opposite, he needs to pursue her if he want a relationship with the fun, quirky girl who can’t see her true beauty.
This is a fun, entertaining read that will appeal to a wide range of audiences, it has wonderful characters, it’s witty and the banter flows naturally, the chemistry is sizzling and it’s well written so I guess all that’s left to say is please one click this gem of a read.

This is such a good story. I am a huge soccer fan, so I love reading a good soccer romance. And Donovan is not just a soccer player, he is THE soccer player, and Tatum couldn’t know less about soccer or him.

Tatum is forced to learn a bit about soccer and Donovan as a result of a project she’d like to lead at work. I liked that she was up front about it and didn’t hide anything from him about her work involvement. Also, the horrible things that Tatum had to put up with in her current and previous work environments made me so mad!

I love how Tatum and Donovan came together so naturally even though they understand zero about each other’s world. While they are both successful in their careers and completely driven, they are both trying to figure out what’s the next step in their lives. Their relationship seems to be a grounding force for both of them.

It was so fun that Donovan was the aggressor in the relationship and Tatum was so hesitant to get involved, when most women are falling all over themselves to get a sport celebrity’s attention.

This was a really fun and steamy story with a great couple.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from Social Butterfly PR and these are my honest opinions.

I haven't read a lot from the Berkeley Hills series, but I truly enjoyed this book. It was easy to follow through with the story and enjoy the storyline. Tatum and Donovan couldn't be any more different but they just fit. From the very first time they met, Donovan can't keep away from Tatum. She has encaptured him.

Their story plot is different from other sports romances and I loved that Tatum works in a tech company. I especially loved that scene where they play with the VR. That's my favourite scene of all. I think their story is sweeter than anything. It was just lovely to read.

This is the story of Tater Tot and Donno, or more precisely Tatum and Donovan, but I feel like I know them by now and they would be cool with me using their nicknames…. probably…. anyhow she’s a nerdy coder and he’s a soccer star. Their paths cross because she needs to convince him to sign on for a sports video game she making. He’s not as interested in the video game as he is in getting to know her. She’s not a soccer fan and has a hard time believing he’s into her.

Stacy Travis has a way of writing characters that makes you feel like you know them personally and the story then becomes a retelling of how your friends came to fall in love.

Stacy’s writing is very smooth. She moves a story forward effortlessly so much so that you forget you’re reading a fictional book.

This is a opposites attract sports romance that is a definite must read. It is book 4 in the series but could be read as a standalone.

She's a nerd, he's a jock.
He was starting over in life and it hit his ego a bit.
She didn't know why he liked her, her being a science gal and him being the athlete.

This was a sweet emotional novel. I haven't read the other books in this series but now i really want to!

Famous international futball star, is headed to the states to recover his reputation after a big incident that out his career teeter tottering into uber negative territory. Holding secrets close to him about that night, makes people want to know more. Is everything true being written about him? Only the closest to his heart knows. He just wants to get past everything and play soccer. He meets Tatum, a tech genius, someone who is a workaholic, her mind never stops, and there is something about her he just can’t stop thinking about. Opposites attract with a lot of chemistry, oh so sweet and just an enjoyable read. The VR room scenes were fantastic, you could feel their attraction through the pages! I loved these two together!!!!

A driven programmer is given the task to convince a famous footballer to work with her company and he ends up being sold on her.

Tatum Finley, the youngest of a big family, loves her job in Silicon Valley working for one of the best companies in VR tech. While her knowledge of sports is vast, that is mainly in American football and not the International "beautiful game," otherwise known as soccer. When her antisocial boss asks her to attend a dinner to meet potential movers and shakers, she is reluctant to accept. Her competitive nature and drive to succeed has her donning a beautiful gown and showing up late. She is seated by a charming and handsome man that seems immediately smitten with her. When she realizes that the enchanting man is the Donovan Taylor, GOAT in his sport and the target of her company's affection, she bolts.

Donovan Taylor is aware that he has had a great career and his hard work has paid off. His move to play for an American Football team after playing for England is all an effort to stay relevant and clean up his image. His pristine career was recently marred when he was involved in an assault in a pub. The media frenzy painted him in a light to be hot headed and a bully which is far from the truth. Now a fresh start in San Francisco is his chance for change. But when he didn't see waiting for him is a woman that is perfect for him in all ways possible.

Donovan asked Tatum for her number and with a passionate kiss, she gave it to him. But two weeks later, she still hasn't responded to his texts. Once he finally gets her attention, she accepts a dinner invitation that has conflicted in her feelings. Her boss has given her the indication that if she wants a promotion she needs to convince the hesitant "Dono" to agree to be in their latest VR game. Tatum wants nothing to do with the athlete and everything to do with the man she has seen off the field. They begin dating and Donovan falls hard and fast for Tatum. His publicist wants Donovan to use a girlfriend as positive-press but Donovan refuses. Both can't help their feelings for each other, especially when their careers are affected by the other person. Donovan wants everything but Tatum is still unsure how she can have all the things she wants.

Dual POV, Sports romance, spicy

This is a cute sports romance. Tatum is a brilliant programmer in a vocation dominated by mostly men. Her competitive nature makes her perfect for the job. Her lack of being starstruck by Donovan makes her perfect for him. Their relationship is sweet and fun to read. Even their moment of conflict is easily and quickly resolved. Nice HEA and Epilogue. Sadly, not as many Finley family members in this one.

Tatum is a workaholic but she tells herself she has to be in the male dominated tech industry. When a huge opportunity at work presences itself, Tatum knows it’s the perfect stepping stone she needs to advance her career in the direction she wants it. The only hang up, convince the newly acquired soccer star to be part of the virtual reality video game when Tatum knows nothing about soccer. After needing a change, Donovan leaves the premier soccer league in Europe and returns stateside to play soccer in San Francisco and his first meeting with his new team is a corporate dinner event. Donovan was dreading the event until he laid eyes on Tatum and he knew right away he needed to know more about her.

Tatum and Donovan connect so effortlessly and have steamy chemistry from their first kiss. Their relationship felt naturally and brought balance to their lives-something they both were lacking/struggling with. They created a safe place for each other and offered understanding and support. Not every relationship is perfect because no one is perfect and there’s definitely a learning curve which Tatum and Donovan both had to figure out to get their happily ever after.

Playing for You is the fourth book in The Berkeley Hills Series by @stacytravisauthor and can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. Thank you @socialbutterflypr_ and @stacytravisauthor for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

I absolutely loved this sweet, emotional, and steamy romance! It is so beautifully written, capturing my heart right from the beginning and making me fall hard for both Tatum and Donovan. One thing I can say about Stacy Travis, her stories are so darn romantic that I just can’t keep the smile off my face. Playing For You was no exception. Heartwarming, swoony, sexy, and delightfully consumable.

I adore the Finley sisters and was eagerly waiting to get my hands on Tatum’s story, and it absolutely did not disappoint, because Tatum and Donovan are fantastic together. It begins with a very quirky and entertaining meet cute where Tatum was so awkward and hilarious. They have this effortless connection, an immediate spark of chemistry, and it jumps right off the page. With every page, their connection, the sparks and the heat level only grew and I loved following their journey. Although their story is very much insta-love, it wasn't an easy ride. That made it more relatable, and felt like a real relationship with all the insecurities, the heartache, the insta lust, the back and forth, the initial awkwardness followed by full surrender.

Stacy Travis is a talented storyteller, who has a way of giving us down-to-earth, flawed characters that we feel like we've known all our lives. She then weaves a storyline sprinkled with humour and heart that effortlessly draws the reader in. And before you know it, bam, your heart now belongs to this new couple. Witty and self-deprecating but rich with emotion and all those feel-good feels, I loved Tatum and Donovan’s journey and I didn’t regret a second of time spent in their company. An all around delightful read!

📖 ARC REVIEW 📖
Review: 4/5 ⭐️
Steam: 3/5 🔥

#playingforyou by @stacytravisauthor is book four in the #berkleyhillsseries. This is my first book by this author.

Donovan is an elite soccer player. He is moving from England back to the states to play for the Strikers. After getting into an altercation at a bar, this haunts him anywhere he goes. Trying to rebuild his image and start fresh. He meets a girl who is different than anyone he’s ever met. Is she going to be the one who changes his game?

Tatum is a geeky, computer girl. Socially awkward, but always driven in her job. She’s trying to prove herself in a male dominated industry. When the opportunity comes up, she has to convince a professional athlete to be her Companion for a project. But when it comes down to it, what’s more important to her; love or her job.

I liked this book and thought it was cute. I don’t read many soccer books so it was a nice change. It took me a little bit to get into, but once I did I enjoyed it. Tatum is really smart but super quirky and a little socially awkward. Donovan wasn’t as pompous as I thought. Yes he was dumb at times but what guy isn’t. This can be read as a complete standalone or series. I would eventually go back, but I can’t wait for the next book!

I really loved this book. You will swoon, laugh out loud and be entertained by Tatum and Donovan.

Tatum is a bit of a workaholic and feels she needs to be in order to compete in a male dominant profession. She’s a self described nerd who loves coding and programming.

Donovan is a soccer star that has recently moved to the states to play with the Strikers football club. He recently left Europe to get away from some off the field drama and is looking for a new start.

Tatum and Donovan’s initial interaction is nothing short of hilarious and hot! Stacy does an amazing job of bring these two characters to life with deep feels, love, protection and a great sense of humor. You will be cheering them on even when they hit a rough patch. They both have amazing support systems that give them sound advise and help them get out of their own way.

This is a stand alone but I suggest you read the other books in the series to understand some of the other characters and because the books are great!

I requested an arc and I am leaving my honest review.

Donovan and Tatum are so perfect together, even though they are opposites. He is a professional soccer player and she is a science nerd. I love the fact that she is a coder and one of the best at her company. I even loved the fact that he was starting over and had some confidence issues.

Once they met the sparks flew, but she didn’t understand why he wanted to be with her. He was tired of the single life and wanted more, he was interested in her as a person not just a quick relationship. She has been burned before so she didn’t really date. He was trying to clean up his reputation (even though the public had it all wrong).

They really were perfect for each other, but he wasn’t even admitting the truth to himself. I loved the conversation he had with his coach. My only wish is that we would have seen more of her family, and saw him at a family dinner. I loved every minute of this sweet, cute opposites attract romance.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Playing for You is the fourth book in the Berkeley Hills series by Stacy Travis. This was a new-to-me author, and I am not sure how I have not discovered her books before now. It was well written, paced perfectly, and was easy to read. The characters were lovable and had many layers and depth. I loved the storyline of the computer introvert who is socially awkward falling for Donovan, the popular soccer player. Not only was Tatum an introvert but she had no knowledge or interest in soccer. The book was packed with humor, and I was laughing the entire time. Both Tatum and Donovan had trust issues and it was interesting to see them grow and open to each other. I really enjoyed this book, and it leads us into the next book which sounds like it will be just as good. I certainly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
