Darkness Falls is the third book in the Nightfall series of post apocalyptic adventure novels by PA veteran Kevin Partner. This series focuses on the individual stories of ordinary people as they struggle to cope with the most deadly event since the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. Themes include EMP, preparedness and an examination of the true nature of humanity when the veneer of civilization is suddenly stripped away.

I write post apocalyptic science fiction both on my own account and with Mike Kraus, as well as space opera and fantasy. And one or two other bits and bobs.

Based in the south of England, I've been writing since my teens, alternating between funny and serious. In the mid 1990s, I became a regular columnist for PC Pro magazine and have written a number of business and craft books over the years.

Fiction is my first love, however - I hope you enjoy my voyages into an uncertain future.

Really interesting and realistic.
I thought this book was where the series really became interesting, as some of the different characters we have followed start to meet each other. Parts of the book almost had me hiding behind the sofa, and the author doesn’t shy away from dealing with his characters somewhat harshly.
I particularly enjoy the way one of the principal characters uses his flying experience to take a light aircraft across the country in search of his daughter. I have read and watched many post apocalyptic stories where I do wonder why aviation is not used, when it does have the advantage of making transportation much easier! Full marks to the author for his research. I did enjoy those parts!
This book is part of a series, and you do really have had to read the previous books, for maximum enjoyment.

This third episode of the Nightfall series is similar to its predecessors in that it is action-packed and allows a deeper insight into Elijah and what he is capable of. Additionally, the activity in Hawaii ramps up, not to mention a good dose of activity at each of the other locations where we were previously introduced to several other characters. I found myself stuck to my chair once I opened the book. If you enjoy post-apocalyptic thrillers grab a copy of the first in this series and get ready for needing to binge read the series so far. I received an Advance Reader Copy and chose to provide this review.

Thank you for "The Story So Far" section in the beginning; it is helpful. A lot of action and a surprise at the end that starts to bring some things together. I still don't like the serial killer part, but look forward to the next book.

Kev Partner has actually written a non-zombie apocalyptic series that has me begging for more words before I even finish the current book I’m reading with his EMP series. The world is easily imagined and the characters are well-developed. There are several storylines with lots of action, drama and danger with a touch of romance. I have my favorites but I love them all! Do yourself a huge kindness and get book 1 of this series today. Oh, and prepare to stay up late if you don’t start reading earlier in the day than I did.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC and this is my honest unsolicited opinion.
