For most of his five centuries of existence, Orion has walked the earth alone, searching for answers. The new characters are amazing. The storyline progressed more like the beginning of the series. I can't wait to see how Orion and Alena's story progresses. Lord knows she deserves to have more in her life than babysitting her mother. The Kra-ell story hopefully will move along was well in the coming books. I'm interested to see what they have to do with the cyborg brothers.
Why is he immortal?
Where did his powers come from?
Is he the only one of his kind?
When fate puts Orion face to face with the god who sired him, he learns the secret behind his immortality and that he might not be the only one.
As the goddess’s eldest daughter and a mother of thirteen, Alena deserves the title of Clan Mother just as much as Annani, but she’s not interested in honorifics. Being her mother’s companion and keeping the mischievous goddess out of trouble is a rewarding, full-time job. Lately, though, Alena’s love for her mother and the clan’s gratitude is not enough.
She craves adventure, excitement, and perhaps a true-love mate of her own.
When Alena and Orion meet, sparks fly, but they both resist the pull. Alena could never bring herself to trust the powerful compeller, and Orion could never allow himself to fall in love again.
This is the first book I have read in this series that was a bit run of the mill & tame in both story & development sadly. Not to give any blatant spoilers but I don't think the author has done justice to Alena at all and she was full of blatant contradiction where her characters concerned which I found disappointing. It felt rushed, not well thought out and had none of the usual content quality, I hope things improve in the next one as it would be a real shame, I know these are easy reading books but I have always found them enjoyable & interesting, this one not so much sorry Ms Lucas
I have no idea how I. T. Lucas does it; 56 books into this fantastic series and every single one is worth a 5 star rating. The world is wonderful, each character arc is superbly crafted, making it easy to believe that they are real people. Every time a new book drops into my Kindle, sleep will not happen because I always feel compelled to absorb everything in the incredibly wonderful gift created by a fantastic wordsmith.
The book count for this series may seem daunting since this is the 56th book, thankfully the way IT Lucas organizes the series is by having the books are set in 3-4 books in a mini-series that revolves around a main couple. There are often side characters & couples that you will see develop along side the main couple. The series does have an overarching storyline that continues through all the books so it is best to read them in order. These books are also told from the POV of multiple individuals, even many of the side characters or members of previous highlighted coupled. Each chapter clearly identifies who is telling their story so it is easy to follow.
This is the first book for Alena & Orion and I am so glad Alena is finally finding we her mate! I also really love how interconnected new characters are to existing one. This story has so much weaving that it is done to look back and realize that a small tidbit was actually foreshadowing to a later event. This was another great book and I can’t wait to see where the story goes!
So fully half of this book is various characters sitting around and recapping the entire series to date on regards to the gods and immortals. Then we have our make and female chars making eyes at each other. Then they quickly fall into a relationship. There is no plot movement here, frankly there is no plot. The end just jumps into the plot synopsis for the next book. Done, over, nothing happened here. Just talking, lots of talking. This one bored me to tears.
Dark Hunter’s Query (The Children of the Gods Paranormal Romance - I.T. Lucas
This series continues to unwind with discovering more about Orion, who is the son of a god , Toven, who escaped being destroyed thousands of years ago. This discovery not only shocks and surprises the head of the clan and her descendants but Annani is thrilled to learn he is alive. This book starts the story arc of Alena and Orion end each overarching storyline goes around three to four books. I was thrilled to see Alena find her mate and Orion to find his family and mate, he has been alone for so long. The other storylines continue to weave and arc joining many characters together heading towards a greater adventure to unfold as it looks like a trip to China will reveal so much more. At book 56 I love the authors ability to combine not just paranormal romance, but also mythology, action, adventure and mystery. The books continue to grow more complex and thrilling, I can’t wait till the next book gets released, I know I won’t be disappointed!
Dark Hunter's Query, the fifty-sixth book in the epic Children of the Gods series, is a riveting paranormal romance. It's brilliantly written with phenomenal, appealing, and memorable characters. I. T. Lucas continues to weave imaginative stories with fascinating world-building, wrapped in paranormal elements and mythology. Dark Hunter's Query is no exception; I was captivated from the start to the very end. The storyline is well-plotted and engaging with some revelations and surprising discoveries. Alena and Orion's journey has been compelling, fraught with challenges, but so many parts came together perfectly, I couldn't stop smiling. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series; I just know it's going to be another winner.
Outstanding narration by Charles Lawrence. His portrayal of the characters was flawless, capturing their emotions and connection. He is a talented narrator and has a great understanding of Lucas's characters and narrative. Overall, Dark Hunter's Query was a fantastic listen, one I'll strongly recommend.
This had a lot of the ridiculous inner monologue to fill the pages, once again. The majority of Alena’s thoughts were repetitive as hell and unreasonable. The author got so engrossed in bs to fill the pages that some of Alena’s POV were written as though it was Orion’s just to run another paragraph of uselessness.
Her thoughts were mostly about how Orion couldn’t be her true love mate. Then the fact that they hadn’t bonded and her comparing it to others, which it is well known that they all varied, so why? Then all this self doubt and woe is me, I should have happiness too, yet she fights it the entire book in her head. But at least she does give in somewhat during this book and it wasn’t drawn out until the next.
Adventure awaits as the teams travel to china, meeting up with Lokan and Carol. The search for Toven is postponed a bit, as are the siblings.
Vrog wants to deal into virtual reality. Nothing from Emmet and Eleanor or the paranormal program.
See my notes and highlights on Goodreads. Happy reading!
Dark Hunters Query KU 337 pgs ***** 12/20/21 Orion & Alena
5 stars. I absolutely loved every word in this book! The new characters are awesome, can’t wait on their books. I love Orion with Alena, they are just perfect for each other. I don’t know how they will stay together but we will find out in later books, I’m sure! The China Kra-ell hunt continues in the next book with Orion assisting them. Annani was in this book and I do love her, she is such a “cool” Goddess. Kian hasn’t chilled much and still grumbles but Syssi can handle him as can his sister Alena. The pace was fast and it was a book that I could not put down. The sex scenes were very hot and well written. Now just waiting a few weeks for the next book to come out.
This was a great start to Orion and Alena’s story! Since the other siblings started finding their true love matches I have wondered when Alena would find someone worthy of her. I mean she is a vital piece to the Clan’s successful growth. I was so happy to realize Orion is a perfect match for her! I love their interactions and can’t wait to see how their story progresses. I love that this book focused primarily on these two with just minor glimpses into side stories. I typically love the switches to other stories to check in on other characters, but I felt the significance of this relationship deserved the focus and attention they received.
This storyline is so enjoyable. I have never read such a large series. The surprising part is that I can't wait for more. Usually with a large series I'm ready for a conclusion way before the tenth book. These stories are so well written that I hope they never end. New characters keep being added every three books have a new set but it is still easy to keep track of who is who. The characters from previous books appear in the later ones and it really helps you feel like you are part of their world. I recommend this series to everyone.
Dark Hunter's Query, book 56 of I.T. Lucas The Children of the Gods series is wonderful. I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my voluntary honesty review.
I have to say, I really like Orions character. Of course he’s exactly what Alena needs and wants. Same for Orion. I’m actually excited to return to China. If you read what book 57 is about. They must run into some pretty good danger. DHQ was so much fun to read. I can’t wait to find out who Vrog gets matched up with for the virtual romantic vacation. Yep, a hook up sight, sort of. I think it’s genius actually. One day (if they don’t already) we are going to see places like that pop up. I’m really excited for the next book!!
Alena kept looking at Orions picture on her phone (just like Justin with Ella) obsessively it was an instant hit with her. Could keep away from it . When the Clan mother told her pack up they were going to the village her excitement only grew.
Orion didn't see Alena at first but heard her like a sirens call she called out to him when she sang in the village square. But when he saw her he to fell hard and fast.
Let's see where there adventures take them in book 57 part2
Dark Hunter's Submerged is book 56 in the Children of the Gods series and is the first of the Dark Hunter's trilogy. It is the story of Alena and Orion.
Geraldine's brother has been found and boy does he have a tale to tell, Orion is taken and held by Kian for a short time. He is a compeller, much like most of Ekin's descendants. Alena is terrified of Orion because of his abilities, but once she lets her guard down there is a no holds bar attraction between these two. 5 stars.
I always want to complain about how fast these books are read
But I also want to revel in how great they all are. This one was particularly good because Alena is finally front and center in this one. She has been Annani’s companion and mother to her 13 children, but still longs for her one true love. This could finally be it. Orion is a good match for her. I can’t wait to see what develops.
I’ve been a big fan of I T Lucas and these books, but honestly this book was just awful. Over half of it are just repeats of recent stories. The sex was non existent, it was half a page of passionless emotionless writing. When I think back to Brundar’s stories, it’s like a different person has taken over the writing. It’s jaded and tired. Has the writer run her course with this series? 57 books in and honestly it’s getting boring.
Lucas writes that Kian and Syssi have been married for four years. It is hard to reconcile that this time frame encompasses 56 books and counting-even considering that every 3 books or so are dedicated to the story around a single couple. I am just happy that Ms. Lucas is so prolific and that I don't have to wait the 1-2 years that other authors inflict on me! Chapter1 of the Orion, Aleana saga is complete and their saga begins... Happy Reading!
I love the Children of the Gods series and I enjoyed Alena’s story too , but it seemed like it was kind of choppy. She is wildly attracted to Orion but doesn’t trust him and then suddenly she does. It like some parts seem rushed. It is a nice story to set the stage for searching for the Kra-ell. I still enjoy the series and am looking forward to many more.
What a wonderful holiday gift to have a new I. T. Lucas book to read! Already pre-ordered number 58 and now the familiar anticipation waiting for it’s release. I’ll fill that time rereading an I. T. Lucas book (or several). I loved Dark Hunter’ s Prey and highly recommend it!!
Way to go Alena! This novel seems to be bringing things together. I would love to find out how Lucas keeps all the stories straight and weaves bits and pieces in her current novels to come to light in future ones... amazing and I 💜 all these books. Keep them coming!!!
This one was just as full of love and action as others. If this is your intro to the series, I implore you to start at book one. The journey and stories are so fantastic and unreal that you will never regret it and never look for another series to follow! Outstanding Isabelle!!!
I love this series, but this one was a little boring. I didn’t feel the connection between Alena and Orion, and there wasn’t much story happening in this book either. Like some reviewers already said, it was a lot of recaps. I hope the next one will be better again.
Conclusion:
Not as good as the previous books, but still good enough if you are a fan of this series.
I enjoyed this book. Thing are changing some amoung the immortals. Direct descendents of another god has been brought to the clan by the "Fates". Annani didn't know this god was still living and is thus very excited about it. There is a lot happening and do not want to give any spoilers away, be sure to read it!
Wow so thankful for this series. Entranced with the love, struggles and adventures with the Children of Gods.
So estatiçally happy as I can now read Book 57 straight away! 😁 Love how previous charactors are included. Sissy Kian Andur Amanda Carol and many others we catch up with ❤
I have a question about William. Why does he wear glasses? It's mentioned twice. Vlad and Wendy are still as boring a couple as ever. I like the story line about Alena and Orion. That added some necessary diversity. I want to visit the village and tell them not to worry about transitioning. Everyone makes it! Everyone!
I am glad to finally find out about Geraldine and Orion. So happy that Alena is finally getting her happily ever after with Orion. Now lets see if Vrog can find the rest of his tribe and find his HEA, and let's not forget about Tovin, Orions' father. So much happening.
I wait for the release dates like Christmas morning to a kid, I Love the story ,characters and the love. I hate having to wait and I always finish these books in the first day or next.. I wish they were longer so I could live the moments longer!
A nice surprise to see Alena, companion to the Clan Mother, be attracted to Orion, first to his drawing and then to him. This was a nice love story about a couple who could use someone who cared for them above all others.
Dark Hunters Query (The Children Of The Gods Book 56) by I T Lucas. Orion visits Geraldine and is "persuaded" to come to the village. Annani flies to the village to meet Orion and when Orion meets Alena sparks fly.
I love this book I can’t wait for the next one each story is amazing insightful and exciting I hope we find out we’re Tovan is. IT Lucas is an amazing author she makes each character seem real and you can actually place yourself in the book
