Devon is from the UK, having lived in many places until finally settling in the Midlands. His career in public services started in his teens and has provided a wealth of experiences, both good and some very bad, which form the basis of the book ideas that cause regular insomnia.
He first started reading for fun as an adult, having tried his hardest to avoid anything resembling academia growing up, and at that point the world became a far bigger place. He has been reading, at least one book at a time, ever since.
His debut works, the After It Happened series, (Survival, Humanity, Society) were published in April 2016 followed by Hope (July 2016) and Sanctuary (December 2016). The first part of the series concluded with the release of Rebellion which was published in June 2017.
Storming high into the charts with the first books of the After It Happened series, Devon launched into the top 10 sellers listings in the UK, Australia, Canada and the US, and he made the decision to write full time shortly after the launch of Hope.
Devon’s self-published beginnings caused a stir in the publishing world, and resulted in contracts with Podium Publishing for Audible, narrated by R.C. Bray (The Martian, Expeditionary Force, Arisen), before a publishing deal for kindle and paperbacks with Vulpine Press.
Further works have seen the start of a multi-author series, sci-fi/post-apocalyptic cross genre, futuristic dystopian and alternative history zombie apocalypse. Spin-off books from the After It Happened world have been announced for 2018.
The series was entertaining but overall a little sci-fi marine generic. Overall I wish there had been a little bit more focused on the alien adversary and less on the inter army drama. For me this book series was a little bit more like the literary equipment of popcorn: simple, tasty, and not too filling or complicated. I give this book and the series a final score of 3.55 (i always round down as a rule). I might give this series another try a couple years down the line see if anything changed for me. Definitely interested in seeing what else this author has to offer.

I liked this well enough BUT I hated the end! Also, if I'd known there would be so much torture in this story that would have been the second reason to NOT buy this.
No romance and the F-bomb was used 148 times.
As for the narration: James Patrick Cronin does a decent job but he still fails to whisper when it's called for.
plenty of action, a straight up military sci-fi book.
An excellent military sci-fi book. Full of action from beginning to end, a good page turner. If you like action that has to deal with special forces battling Spetz Naz units with a little zombie thrown in you would like the series. I think it was left open but who knows.
Barton is back at it again, and still hasn't learned to stop mouthing off at enemy soldiers. But he's levelled up, so that's something! Like it's predecessors, Odin is full of action and well-rounded characters, set in a plot that grips you tight and doesn't let go. Excellent pacing and fantastic descriptions, this is absolutely worth a read.
I enjoyed reading this series the authors detail had me feeling like I was right there in the mix of things great storyline and original can't wait for more
The fact that I didn't start at the beginning and just dive in the third instalment but still enjoyed the story is saying something. I loved the characters I grew attached to the crew, the plot isn't original or mindblowing but its definitely sure entertaining!
I found the whole series hard to put down. The characters were all bigger than life but not to the point I lost interest. The narrative was easy to follow and had a good flow. I would recommend this author to anyone.
This book at least had space zombies … or the flood. A lot of people died heroically. I still wish there were more space zombies but it was fairly good.
I enjoyed this continuation of the story. I was glad that our main character continued to grow in his role. I enjoyed reading this book. I recommend it.
