•Alexandra• I’ve had enough. Enough of New York City, my parents, their stuffy friends, and all the tedious men they think I should be dating. Doctors. Lawyers. Investors. Yuck. Taking over the little bakery in Sugar Creek was my chance at a fresh start.
So, of course, the only man in town that’s interested in me is Branson. Older. Clean-cut. Doctor. Basically, everything I was running away from. Sure, he's gorgeous, but he also does terrible things to my blood pressure. All I want is a man that appreciates my curves, my tattoos, and my unfiltered mouth. You know, the impossible dream.
Thank god for online dating.
•Branson• Alex is the one. She just doesn’t know it yet. My curvy little baker takes one look at me and decides I’m too wholesome. Boring. She has no idea how wrong she is or how far I’ll go to prove her wrong.
All I need is one chance. One night to show her the real me. One night to prove I can satisfy every sinful desire she’s ever had. Luckily, she's not the only one who can work a dating app.
I write the kinds of books I love to read. Low angst and good communication make me happy. I love a little drama, a metric shit-ton of sexual tension, a good meet-cute, and dirty talk. So, so much dirty talk. Hot with a plot is my personal motto and I take it seriously!
I have a degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Baking and Pastry. Before staying home to raise my kids, I was a pastry chef for seven years and specialized in wedding cakes. (See, always a sucker for a happy ending!)
In real life, I’m a wife, and a mother to two adorable hellions. We have two puppies, a chonky cat, and more houseplants than I know what to do with.
"I’ll share anything. Except you." Ever since I read Bewitched By You on Halloween, I've come to trust Mae Harden to deliver sexy AF novellas with characters you can fall in love with. Guess what? She's done it again! This is ideal for a quick, sexy read that will leave you both satisfied and wanting more. Also, can I move to this town? It seems to have a really high ratio of hot men per square foot!
"Nothing about this kiss says, ‘first date’. No, if this kiss had a label, it would be ‘I-wanna-get-inside-your-body-and-make-you-mine.’" Branson is totally into Alex and her curves. Alex thinks of him as another stuffy doctor and that she'd have nothing in common with him. Until they crash into each other and he knocks her on her ass, literally. And until one of her friends signs her up for Curve Connection, the dating app, and Alex meets Harkness. A guy with some serious flirting skills.
"ME: Because you don’t take any shit or because you like to hunt? A: Because I like my man on top, and if you treat me right, I’ll let you fuck me fifteen times a day. ME: I think I might be in love with you." When they agree to have dinner, you guessed it, Branson shows up. And he's there to prove her she is dead wrong and that they have chemistry in spades. Which they so do! And it's so freaking sexy and so damn hot. I loved ALL their message interactions and their banter in person! More than that, I loved that he made it his mission to show her what she's been missing out on by giving him the cold shoulder, and I loved her sassiness and feistiness even more.
"I was yours from the moment you crashed into me. You just didn’t know it." Turns out there's nothing stuffy or boring about Branson. Turns out he can rock her world just as much as she rocks his. And turns out... this is the best first date I've seen in years!
Oh Mae you have once again given me a couple that I cannot help but fall in love with and want to crawl into their world. Alexandria is our sassy, confident, independent and a bit clumsy town baker. She has no time for match making, a nosy mother or a uber hot town doctor. SO when she literally gets knocked off her feet by Branson she is more than angry but he seems smitten! Branson has admired the town baker from afar. She is beautiful, curvy, filled with sass and loves to throw snarky comments his way at every turn but that only makes him more persistent. When he finds out from her meddling friend that she is on a dating site he is ready to make his move but be oh so stealth about it. A dinner meeting, an undeniable attraction, secrets revealed and a spontaneous adventure into the night is about to lead this couple on an adventure of self discover that neither one saw coming! I loved watching their relationship unfold on the pages. They had smoldering chemistry, wonderful depth and fabulously funny sexually fueled banter. ~~Michele McMullen ~~
What a sweet, fun, spicy, read! My only complaint is that it wasn’t longer! I could see Alex having so much fun introducing Branson to Mom and Dad! If you want a quick afternoon escape, this little book just might fit!
Sinful Curves is a sinfully sweet story that will heat up those cold winter nights!
Alex is the town baker. Branson is the town doctor. Their first meeting didn’t go well. However, Branson is intrigued by Alex and Alex wants nothing to do with Branson.
I adored Alex. She is confident and sassy. I love that she loves herself and she isn’t afraid to be herself. She knows her worth and she knows what she deserves. She is a character that you would just want to be around. Branson, how I love him. The man may be a doctor but he is definitely hiding plenty of things and interests. Swoony, dirty talking, tattooed….the man is too good to be true!
I loved the banter between Alex and Branson. I loved the chemistry between them. I loved seeing them form a bond and connection. There is some dislike, but there is also plenty of tension brewing beneath the surface. I loved how perfect Alex and Branson truly are for each other.
If you’re looking for a steamy, enemies to lovers romance this is one to read!
Sinful Curves is another novella from Mae Harden set in the Sugar Creek world! I love small town romances and Mae’s writing so I was excited to read this.
This is such a fun quick read. Alex is new in town and closed off from dating all the types of men her mother has tried to set her up with, including doctors, who she thinks are all stuffy and boring.
Cue Branson, the towns doctor. These two meet and Alex immediately doesn’t give him a shot because of his profession. But then they start texting and really hit it off. Alex learns that Branson isn’t as boring as she first thought and is hiding some interesting secrets. Their chemistry was great and I really liked following their story. I just wish we got a tiny bit more as it ended quite abruptly for me. I also really liked that Alex is a plus size heroine. We need more of those!
If you’re looking for a quick fun and sexy read. This one is for you!

“He’s nothing like I expected and, more importantly, he’s everything I’ve ever wanted.”
4.5 sinful stars
Sinful Curves is another Sugar Creek hit by Mae Harden! Seriously, I am obsessed with this small town and the stories that Mae crafts for these characters. Her writing is always so flawless, the banter is top notch and the spicy scenes are perfection.
Alex is closed off from dating especially stuffy, boring doctors, but Branson is determined to make her his. I loved Alex and Branson’s story, especially in the beginning when they are texting back and forth and having hilarious conversations. Alex is the kind of character I would want to be my best friend. I also loved that Alex is a plus sized character and I would love to see more curvy women from Mae!
I gave it 4.5 stars instead of 5 because I felt it ended really abruptly and I would liked to see a nice little epilogue after their night together.
Mae does it again. Hot damn, these Sugar Creek men are it 🔥
Branson, the town doctor, wants Alex from the moment she crashes into him. literally. all he can think about is her, her smart mouth, and curves. But Alex is blinded by judgement to realize how different Branson is. because of her past, she’s used to stuffy people and thinks no different of Branson. until they match on Sinful Curves dating app.
Mae’s hero’s are my absolute favorite. holy dirty talking gods, where are you in real life? there was a lot of build up between these two and it was so good! I cannot wait for more romances from the Sugar Creek town.
Who doesn’t love a tall, beefy former linebacker turned doctor sweeping a curvy baker off her feet??
We meet Alex, sassy clumsy town baker as she literally runs into Branson, the town doctor. It’s anything but love at first site, especially for Alex, who likes her guys with a little more edge.
Turns out, Branson is packing some surprises under those button downs, including some hot ink and a dirty mouth!
I liked the build these two had and that it wasn’t insta-love. The banter cracked me up and the sexual chemistry was 🥵🥵 As always with Mae novellas, I just want more!! Great characters in a cute little spicy read 😍
This was an easy read, short, and didn't get deep into anything. Nothing to think about, not enough detail to get turned on, no angst, no warm fuzzies, not even the sense of off-the-wall chemistry, but not totally blah. The anticipation of steam was provocative enough to keep me reading, but the actual promise of kink turned into a disappointment. And the idea of a man belonging to a sex club getting so turned on from a few licks was ludicrous. The best part of the book was their texting. And the cherry on the vanilla sundae? She's 5' and he's 6' 6". That "trope" is so trite. You can't swing a dead cat in the world of contemporary romance without hitting the words, "a foot and a half taller." I've stopped reading books many times for that description. DEAR WRITERS: You don't have to tell me their height. Let me decide.
It started as an enemy-turned-to-lovers trope when our h hated the sight of our H. Not because he was a bad person with a bad personality or anything, she just hated the fact that he was a doctor. You see, our h's mom tried to set up her with the elites (doctors, lawyers, and such), which made our h had some kind of prejudice towards men with that occupation. Yep, those prejudices; obnoxious and all. But, what a woman to do when our hunky charming H persuaded her every single day relentlessly since the day they met. Gave up and gave him a chance. One night of unforgettable date for a love.
This book was really one bundle short of a surprise. Really. I mean it started as a meet-cute with cute witty banter between the MCs. And then BAM!! The date night took an unexpected turn into some exotic sexy smutty romance. One thing lead to another and smacked dab into BDSM. Someone should definitely give me a warning when I picked up this book. Not that I mind. No, ma'am!! It was actually sexy hot. All the pent up desires explode in a series of decadent trips that I didn't even see coming from the beginning. The only downside was the book seemed to end abruptly. It was more HFN than HEA. I meannnnn..... Oh well, it's all good though. I did enjoy the whole ride actually.
No virgin Dual PoV, 1st person No cheating No drama/angst Safe read, HFN, No epilogue Overall score: 4 unexpected romance stars
Likes: Holy smokes this is a hot book! Underneath his buttoned-up doctor facade Branson is a super hot dirty talking dom! I loved how feisty Alex was and how deep down she really wants someone to show her how to be a good girl. Plus on top of all the steam, you also have a sweetheart that really wants to woo his girl, and show her how special she is!
Dislikes: That it ended?! I want more!
Overview: If you’re looking for a quick super steamy read, then this is the book for you! For me Branson is the epitome of an alpharoll book boyfriend. To everyone else he’s the friendly neighbour doctor, but once Alex finally lets him into her heart, she’ll soon undercover the sexy beast within. I also loved their back and forth banter, they both definitely gave as good as they received. Plus I think Alex enjoyed her ‘punishments’…
An amazing addition to the Curvy Soulmates collection (stand-alones).
It started out so good. I just don’t know what happened after they had dinner. First of all I would be freaking out loosing my purse and then he got pic-pocketed. The over the top and the downward spiral for me was the sex club. Not what I was expecting and definitely not my cup of tea. Hey to each his own but just not mines. The ending was a weird I guess you could call it a HEA.
I really wanted to like it, but I couldn't stand Alex. She was a straight up snobby bitch. Also, the element of sex clubs...not my thing. Couldn't finish the read once they got to Tango.
Sorry, Mae. I gave two stars because Branson was delicious...despite the sex club thing.
My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
3.5 /5 stars Alex has lived a privileged life controlled by her parents, when they start trying to get her married to a stuck up lawyer or a stuffy doctor she leaves. Now she works at a bakery in a small town, she doesn’t want anything from her parents, and she definitely not interested in getting married. Branson is the doctor in the small town, but he’s far from stuffy, he has a secret side. When they literally run into each other Alex gets passed and is rude to him, Brandon on the other hand is intrigued. He sees a beautiful woman who is feisty and he likes it a lot. He starts coming into the bakery but she won’t give him the time of day. Her friend and co-worker signs her up on the dating app Curve Connection then she goes to Branson’s office and signs him up too. Now it’s up to him to woo Alex. Their chemistry online is great. Branson gets Alex to open up and they have fun getting to know one another. He reveals himself at their first date. Alex is ready to leave but he talks her into staying for dinner. Then he talks her into spending 24 hours with him. She agrees. Then things get a little weird, when she asks him his what his biggest secret is, he’s a member of a BDSM sex club. And he takes her to the club, but first they stop at a concert where he gets pick pocketed, earlier she leaves her purse in their cab, so now neither has their phone or any money. But neither is concerned. Off they go to the sex club. Safe words, public oral sex, and them leaving with a club car to go to his family yacht to have sex. He tells her he’s keeping her and she’s happy about that. The end. Was disappointed that it was more happy for now than a happily ever after. No I love yous and no epilogue. The whole not worried he was pick pocket was strange, who doesn’t worry about losing their phone, ID, and credit cards? And the BDSM sex club thing for Branson, why was it the only way to make him be edgy and not a stuffed shirt was to have him be a Dom?

Title: Sinful Curves Author: Mae Harden Hero/Heroine: Branson & Alex Trope: Small Town Romance
THE GOOD 😀
Well… that’s quite a few interesting things to do on a first date! I’m still trying to unpin my eyebrows from my hairline, I fear they’re stuck up their for life, thank god I have a fringe to cover them. Let’s just say that Branson and Alex’s story certainly packs a punch. Running into each other on the street, these two don’t exactly get off to the best start after Alex gives Branson a foul mouthed retort after she ends up wearing her cup of coffee. For Branson it appears to be love at first sight, and he makes every effort to get Alex’s attention, but to no avail. When Alex’s friend Willow signs her up to a dating app, she finds herself drawn to the last person she expected. What I enjoyed most about this story was how the author played on the whole ‘never judge a book by its cover’ aspect. Alex assumes that Branson is a buttoned up, egotistical doctor type, boy does he prove her wrong, like in a pretty eye opening way. With Alex’s sassy attitude and Branson’s take charge presence, it was great to watch them go up against each other. I also loved that Branson set out to prove Alex wrong about the type of person he was, he was the perfect blend of sweet and ‘I’ve just bitten into a raw chilli and now I can’t feel my mouth’ hot. Another great novella from Mae Harden, I’m very much looking forward to seeing what she’ll be serving us up for Christmas (book wise, not actual Christmas dinner, just FYI).
THE BAD ☹️
It’s nothing bad as such but I’m still wondering - did Branson and Alex ever get their wallet/phone/bag back??
Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Holy friggin smokes Batman, this was one hot novella STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥 STAR RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This short and steamy novella is just what the doctor ordered! Fun, humurous, and super sexy....This is one curvy connection you won’t want to miss!
Curvy baker Alex isn't looking for a boring cookie cutter man like a doctor or a lawyer...much to her mother's dismay. So when the towns resident "hot doc" sets his sights on her, she couldn't be more disinterested and let's him know in her own "mouthy" way. Especially now that she's made her own curvy connection with the devilishly sexy Harkness....A mysterious man who seems to be everything she's looking for....
To resident "Hot Doc" Branson, Alex is the perfect woman he's been waiting for. The only problem is that he's everything Alex dosen't want. Nice, charming, and practically picture perfect...he checks off every "NOPE" box that Alex has. When given the opportunity to change her mind about him, he's got 24 hours to prove her wrong. Only, when she finds out the secrets he's been hiding, will she want to.....
This was another fantastic addition to the Sugar Creek series! Branson was not only sweet and swoony, he's just downright sexy! The chemistry and tension between these two was smouldering hot 🔥! I loved how Alex was so disinterested in Branson and his perusal of her! I got more than a few chuckles over their delightfully witty banter. They were such a fun and steamy couple!
I'm always up for a return trip to Mae Harden's Sugar Creek! This is one small town that never fails to entertain me with it's residents of sassy ladies and the Alpha-licious men who reside there! Pack your bags and make the trip...I promise that you'll be glad you did! 😘❤
*I was generously given an ARC copy of this book for an honest review *
Right away, I enjoyed Alex’s character. Branson wasn’t the only one entertained by her feistiness. Their first few run-ins don’t go that smoothly, mostly due to Alex’s stubborn and independent attitude. But Branson is subtly persistent, coming to the bakery every morning just to catch a glimpse of her but not to rile her up. These two really did end up complimenting each other nicely once they were both open to the idea.
I really appreciate Mae Harden’s sense of humor. I’ve read several of her books now, and I really enjoy her writing style. She’s always able to get me to laugh, but she does not skimp on the steam either! These two end up visiting a sex club which definitely ramps up the spice factor for this one!
I need more from this couple! Just a little bit more at the end to wrap it up. Maybe an epilogue? I LOVED all the content that included Willow, the heroine from Sugar Pie! She’s Alex’s best friend, and she’s a damn good one at that!
Favorite Quotes: “Son of a cat fishing bitch… Branson?” “See, I knew you knew my name wasn’t Brandon.” -Alex & Branson
Sinful Curves is fun, flirty, heartwarming and so incredibly hot. Alex is a single woman that works at a bakery in her small town. Growing up in a socialite family, she steers clear of dating doctors, lawyers or any of those types that her Mom pushes on her. She is beautiful, strong, confident and comfortable in her own skin except when it comes to guys being interested in her curvy body....until Branson.
Branson is handsome, flirty and really into Alex since the day he met her, when they literally ran into each other...but he's a doctor. He is willing to do anything to show her there is more to him than his occupation, that he is really into her and that he thinks she's sexy af.
They end up going on a date, where they play a game of questions to get to know one another. She asks him a loaded question – what his biggest secret is. Branson’s secret is pretty big and it is hot!! But will it be too much for Alex to deal with? Make sure to grab a copy of this book and find out!!

Mae gives us a steamy, hot romance with some kink thrown in. Alex and Branson are two people that surprise you and have you loving them together.
Alex us a local baker that is feisty and curvy. She has a mouth on her that holds nothing back. Running into Branson, a local Dr., and she seems to have grabbed his attention. She doesn't want anything to do with him because he's a doctor. Why, well her mother wants her to marry rich and for socal status and a doctor fits into her mother's plans. Branson walks into her bakery daily for a week but he is not getting anywhere with her. Alex's friend sets up a profile on a curvy dating app and Alex starts getting hits. It's not until she gets a particular hit that she gets really interested. Things get very flirty and the talk gets dirty real fast? Will she let this mysterious person in and give them a chance? Will she be surprised by this person?
I needed a cold drink just to cool down as I was reading this very steamy book. Mae know how to keep your attention right from the start.
HFN Standalone Insta-love Curvy Soulmates series - Curve Connection dating app
*over 18 readers only*
Alex is tired of her mother constantly trying to set her up, so she leaves NY and settles in Sugar Creek. She is against dating, but especially against dating doctors. Branson and Alex literally bump into each other on the sidewalk. He's smitten, and she's mad. She's also brash, tattooed, and cusses like a sailor. She immediately blows him off. It takes her best friend/ coworker going behind her back and getting Branson on the app before things change. It takes a while, but that first date is explosive.
I enjoyed the story, but the ending felt abrupt. It needed a little something more.
Welcome Back to Sugar Creek. Small town romance, with yet another great couple: Alex is a new baker in town, sassy, curvy and confident with her body, true to herself and no-filter when speaks. Branson is a cute doctor, who just by his profession is already everything that Alex doesn’t look for in regards to relationships. Yet, fascinated by her, Branson does not give up and keeps trying to break the walls to get to her. With her friend's help, start messaging her on the dating app, getting closer to know her. When they finally meet face to face, will Alex finally give Branson a chance? Sinful Curves is a short novella, fast paced read, funny with lots of witty returns, great banter. Chemistry between two of them was off the charts, add to it dirty talk, sexy and smutty scenes, a bit of kink. I wouldn’t mind if it was a bit longer read. I’ve received an Arc copy in exchange for voluntary and honest review.
Alex and Branson are absolutely adorable. The beginning of the book was fantastic. There was a slight turn I wasn't full expecting. It was not a bad thing but there was defiantly a moment of "too calm and cool given the situation". I love Alex as character, her wittyness and "I am woman her me roar." was great. I love a strong woman in a romance and Alex gave me that. I was not 100% in love with this book but it was still a good read. The book was short yet fast paced. A quick hour or so read depending on your personal reading speed.
**I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.**
Holy wow! What a book!! As we know already, I'm a huge fan of the Sugar Creek Novellas, and this one is no exception. I totally love Alex. Like major girl crush territory. She is not afraid to be her own person, and cuss people out as and when she feels she needs to. She's hard working, and stubborn as all hell. Branson is so much more than meets the eye. Hes all clean cut, prim, and proper to anyone that only looks surface deep, but when you look underneath the 'public image' as the town doctor (and under the clothes 😉) you find someone you definitely were not expecting. The chemistry between these two is palpable. I totally love it. Totally 5⭐ worthy! Read it now!! 🥵
Oooh! I just love how much steam and romance Mae can pack into her novellas! I love even more that she can do that without missing important details or making it feel unrealistic or rushed. Sinful Curves started with some hot sexual tension and ended with hotter scenes of giving into that temptation and allowing their hearts to win. I love that they both knew what they wanted and were willing to trust the other and bring out that passion. Another amazing story by Mae Harden!
The writing was a little rough in a few places and there isn't a lot of smut but the storytelling was smooth, the characters were laugh-out-loud funny and the relationship-building was adorable.
My favorite line: “Like the poet said, ‘You don’t have to look at his face if you’re sitting on it.’”
Definitely recommend if you are looking for a fun and funny novelette!
And if you are looking for something smuttier by this author, check out, 'Room Thirty' (Club Sin: Chicago). You won't be disappointed!
Alex is tired of the straight-laced men that have always been in her life. She doesn’t want to have a boring partner so much that she writing off Branson after their first ruin-in.
Branson knows that Alex is the one for him and will do anything he can to convince her that they really do belong together.
These two have so much chemistry it falling off the pages. Extremely steamy novella who like to explore their multiple sides.
I've loved the Sugar Creek series; I think Thirsty Boy is still my favorite, but this one was great too. These are quick steamy reads that are always good for a read when you don't have much time to dig into a big book. The characters are always amazing and the plats are highly entertaining
Branson and Alex had a humorous banter that kept me in high spirits. Alex was a bit abrasive at first but she grew on me. These two made for a great novella!
