Quick Summary: A masterpiece from the Noblesse collection

My Review: Noblesse Volume Three: A WEBTOON Unscrolled Graphic Novel by Jeho Son is scheduled for release in June 2025. It features the incredible art of Kwangsu Lee.

Target Audience: "For fans of dark fantasy, vampires, and classic monsters comes a tale with a twist on classic fantasy tropes."

About the Book: "When Cadis Etrama Di Raizel or Rai, as he is known, awakens after 820 years, he discovers a modern world he simply doesn't understand. Once an extremely powerful member of the Nobles, a race of nearly immortal and powerful creatures, Rai decides to start again as a high school student at Ye Ran High School, founded by his former servant, Frankenstein, who is somehow still alive after all these centuries.

Frankenstein’s goal: to help his powerful, vampire-like immortal master learn about human life and culture as he protects him from the modern forces Rai cannot fathom. But Rai's somewhat peaceful new life is about to be disturbed by The Union, a secret organization interested in using his powers to further their own malicious goals. "

My Final Say: I am so gone over Noblesse; I love it! I have been a fan for a while now. I must say that this installment DID NOT disappoint. The story and the artwork were masterfully executed. For those who follow this world, you will appreciate this volume, as it is action packed, tense, humorous, and all the things. The quirks and the power are all in there. Let's go!!!

Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the entire team who worked to bring this installment to completion. It is brilliantly done. Thank you to Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group | WEBTOON Unscrolled and to NetGalley for providing access to a digital ARC of this work in exchange for an honest critique. It was my absolute pleasure to review. I look forward to the continuation of this series.

Sometimes I need a little (or a lot in this case) action in my life. Since I’m not going out and fighting a secret organization who’s testing dangerous experiments on humans, why not read about it in a book?

At first glance, Noblesse is about a man with mysterious powers who’s woken from a very long sleep. He could be some kind of royal, but we don’t know yet. As a whole, it’s a found family that’s growing with each volume.

I had suspicions about what the MC is and they were confirmed in this volume. It always feels good to be right😂

I’m really enjoying these books. The action makes the story feel so short, even though it’s almost 300 pages.

I think there's a lot that gets lost when this is translated from the web to the page. All of the art looks like it's floating in random boxes in space and it's really difficult to figure out what order to read the panels in. Then there are zero backgrounds in each of the panels so it just feels like random figures floating around and it just breaks any kind of flow for sequential art. The gist is there's a shadowy organization with no name that's making monsters and on the other side is Dr. Frankenstein and his thrall plus some kids who definitely take a back seat in this volume.

One if my first web comics made into an offline accessible book! while I have read the whole webtoon online I was delighted to find unscrolled (even if I only found volume 3 and not the proceeding volumes) and then devastated to find that only 3 volumes were made. I would 100% own every volume if they made an unscrolled of the entire series.

Thank you to NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Noblesse by Son Jae Ho and Kwangsu Lee is a shounen/seinen paranormal action science fiction/fantasy webcomic. Originally published online via Webtoon, it has been interesting to see this long-running (now completed) comic re-adapted for print. The series follows Rai, a powerful vampire who woke from a multi-century snooze to find himself in modern-day (c. 2010s) Korea; his assistant, Frankenstein, is now the principal of a Korean high school. Volume 3 concludes the first plot arc of this story, and introduces a powerful secret organization and the many questionably ethical experiments they are running to create superpowered humans. The next BBEG has been introduced, and the initial exposition is completed.

This series is simultaneously fast- and slow-paced. Fast because it is an action comic with lots of fight scenes, and slow because the plot takes a while to develop (the full series is over 500 chapters). The story does get more interesting later on, and there are both humorous and poignant moments scattered throughout the story, but the logistics of delivery often fall a bit flat. I haven't read this in the original Korean, so I can't compare, but the dialogue (at least in translation) reads as a bit stilted at times, though the gist can generally be understood. Art-wise, the comic is more easily readable in its original vertical scroll format--it hasn't been formatted as well as other Webtoon comics for the the printed page, so first time readers may find the flow on paper a bit confusing. That said, the characters are quite fun, so it's worth a shot if the reader is willing to be patient and enjoys superhero stories.

Readers who enjoy this series may also like: Tower of God by S.I.U., Eleceed by Jeho Son and ZHENA, X & Ash by Sehoon Kim and Kwangsu Lee, Unholy Blood by Lina Im and Jeonghyeon Kim, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Dracula by Bram Stoker, Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu, and other vampire tales.
