Since the previous book we knew that this was going to be Declan Craig’s story, from the Previous 2 books I knew this would be action packed, suspenseful and gripping story, but dang I didn’t expect for it to be this good
Declan’s team is once again Chasing the group called Deep 8……
it’s been something like 5 years or more since Declan had been back at Bio2Chem, a company that he once worked for in the past
To make things little more Interesting Declan somehow lost something like A year’s worth of memory due to some accident …. Plus, he’s super self-conscious over the scars that he has
Dr. Olivia Marcel is an ambitious biochemist with a complicated past. She was always cautious and less of a free spirit……the woman is a Workaholic, and is desperately trying to keep her secret
With Declan being x- MI-6 Agent, and Olivia having the backing of her uncle … this is a deep off-the books mission that has more holes in it than Swiss cheese…… The question might just be, will these brilliant scientists make it out alive and finally find happiness?

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the third book in the Deep 8 series. I have read and reviewed the first two books in this series before I picked up this book. I do feel this is a series that is much better if you read it in order, and I think you really should not read this book as a standalone. That is just my opinion. I have to say this book pulled me into it for the very beginning, and I really loved getting to know these characters. Some of the side characters I already knew because they were in the other books. The suspense was on point in this book, and I think the characters had a great connection. I did guess some of the big secrets that were throughout this book, but I do not think it hurt my reading enjoyment. I really love the little girl that was in this book because she just had all these big manly men wrapped around her finger. The ending was so great it was full of action suspense with a little bit of love tossed into. Great Read. Burn is the 3rd book in the Deep 8 series by Kenzie Macallan. This is the first book I've read by her and I did not feel lost having not read the first two books. Not really sure if this author is for me. The books are well written, with a TON of action from beginning to end, but I just really had a hard time getting into it and the characters felt a bit flat to me for some reason. Personally, I also had a hard time with the heroine's reasoning for keeping Declan in the dark (after he met his daughter) for as long as she did. But maybe that's just me. I do think that a lot of people who are fans of romantic suspense will enjoy this - especially if you've already read the previous books.

Oh man what a story. Couldn't put it down. So much going on that I don't see how Declan gets through it all. Olivia has been through a lot also , but it's going to take a village as the saying goes. Who's next in line to help take down Deep 8?

With every book from Kenzie Macallan, she consistently proves she is an AMAZING, talented author! One who has risen to one of my auto-click, MUST READ authors! Burn is the third book in the suspenseful, un-put-downable Deep 8 series which CAN be read as a standalone and let me just say that Declan and Olivia's slow-burn love story does NOT disappoint! This book is packed with Ms. Macallan's signature style and is, in my opinion, her BEST one in the series (so far!)
Declan Craig returns to Bio2Chem, a company he worked for in the past, when an "accident" leaves him with physical (and emotional) scars and a loss of memory....when he meets his contact and discovers it's none other than Dr. Olivia Marcel, the woman he remembers having an animosity-filled relationship with. He also feels all kinds of other things, the least of which is a chemistry that he finds confusing. Olivia, on the other hand, is desperately trying to keep her secret while also feeling that same chemistry...again! This was another page turning addition to this must read series.
This one will run you through a gamut of emotions as it has a bit of everything in it while still dragging you down the Deep 8 rabbit hole.
The things that get unearthed/discovered will have your mind boggling.
Because of that fact it's actually really hard to talk about it as this one had many different moving parts to it, and of course lives were in peril yet again. Will they all be able to come out the otherside unscathed?
Highly recommend that you one click to find out.

Top notch suspense. I was riveted to the pages and couldn’t turn them fast enough. Angst, suspense, mystery, this book has it all. The writing is wonderful. I look forward to the next book in the series.

A wonderful addition to the series. Action packed, suspenseful and gripping. Declan and Olivia were terrific and Poppy was delightful. A fabulous read full of emotion.

This romantic suspense isn't you usual fast paced action story. The story unfolds slowly. As I read I felt sad for Declan & his pain. I was rooting for him to see what was right in front of him. Liv is strong yet so angry & its understandable. I kept turning the pages as the action heated up & waited for the HEA they deserved! Good book indeed!.

This book is sublime the suspense nearly killed me I read it to the wee hours and then picked it back up as soon as I woke up to finish it. There was constant action in one form or another the betrayal was there just hidden well and the secrets are many. The characters Declan and Olivia are strong and determined even young Poppy was brilliantly smart and a breath of fresh air.

Another wonderful edition to this series by an author I accidentally discovered and who's books I've come to read with much gusto.
This time we get Declan and Olivia's story who share a history that gets uncovered bit by bit.
Declan is part of the MBK Global Security team, he is an experienced scientist. He's been badly burned in an chemical accident when on an undercover op in Germany. When he gets called for a new mission and it turns out that he has to go back to where this all happened, he's not really pleased. Because of the accident he's lost a whole year of his memories but he's determined to find out more about that time.
His contact person is Olivia, a brilliant scientist herself who's working on a cure to help little children. She shares a history with Declan and is hiding a big secret from him. To say she's not pleased to see him coming is a big understatement. But Declan has changed a lot since his accident and the things he's showing her makes her change her view on him and slowly they grow closer as their attraction grows as well.
Declan's mission is to find out more about a drug created by Deep 8 and to bring in as much information as he can get. In doing so however he also gets Olivia in danger, so he has to do all he can to try and keep her safe.
This series is getting better with each book, I went into this series reluctantly but have come to love every bit of it. There's action, mystery and romance. I guessed some things early on but that didn't hold me back on reading.
I'm already looking forward to the next one in the series which will be Campbell's story.

This installment of the Deep 8 series follows Declan and Olivia. And PHEW it is steamy and fast paced. Declan- a scientist who lost his memories in an accident is desperate to remember what happened during that time. What will happen with him an Olivia? You won't want to miss this !!!

Wow!! This was my first time reading Kenzie Maccallan and this book was awesome. Following Declan as he figures out what happens to him and how Olivia fits into his life is a read with all the feels. The intrigue and romance will keep you from putting this one down until you finish it. This is a must read and now I need to go back and read the first two in this riveting series.

Did you say second chance romance, steamy romance, and an intricate plot? I’m in! And boy are you in for a wonderful story too. Declan, ex-MI-6, now a team member for MBK Global Security is back in Cologne, Germany, where things went to the doghouse five years prior. Unfortunately, a part of his memory also went as well and this causes him to feel like he is missing some vital information, which, of course, he is!
I found the story grabbed my attention in the beginning and it held it but it was a tad sluggish, mind you, it could have been me. When things start happening it becomes so intense I couldn’t stop reading, I desperately wanted, no, I needed to know what happens. The action and drama are incredible and fully develop into a clearer puzzle with pieces slotting in more rapidly.
The lead characters, Declan and Olivia, are terrific because they don’t sugarcoat things. Special mention should go to Poppy who is an absolute delight, a ray of sunshine in a murky world of chemically enhanced evilness. Talking about evil… when this author creates these characters she goes all out! Holy moly, talk about the devil in disguise!
Throughout are great descriptions, which makes it easy to visualize each scene, each character, and their expressions. This description of the drama at one point is a terrific example… “This is an amusement park ride without an end.”
This is the first book by this author that I have read but it definitely won’t be the last. I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys excitement, adventure, and romance.

This is book 3 of the Deep 8 Series and could easily be read as a standalone but I beleive reading the full series adds to this book, the build of Deep 8 and the connection within the MBK Security team.
Declan find's himself back in Cologne Germany working undercover once again in the labratory that almost took his life. In a way changed his life beyond recognition as he still has a whole in the memories from that time. But the man he is has changed drastically in the past 5 years, gone is the playboy partier and now we have a sober refined version. Will his cover be blown by his past or will he slip right into the role and find the next puzzle peices of Deep 8 and their plan? He has kept himself so distanced from everyone since his recovery, will he let his walls down and let Olivia into his heart this time?
Dr Olivia has one focus at work, finding cures and saving lives. It has been her dedication for so long she can't remember anything different. Her second dedication is to her family, her mum & her daughter Poppy. She has buryed the hurts of the past and tries to focus on the present and being the best mum and scientist she can be. When she finds herself working with that past who hurt her so many years ago, the struggle is real. Will she let her gaurd down with Declan this time, or is the risk to big?
The dangers and deception are real and felt early on in this book. The carefully planned plot will have you taking notes and trying to solve the whos & whys. All the time rooting for this slow burn, second chance relationship that is full of sizzling chemistry. Falling in love with a little spitfire redheaded 5 year old that is wise beyond her years.
With each book we knock down a peice of Deep 8 but it still keeps running strong. Where will the next peice take us? Are you coming for the adventure?

WOW!!!! What a mind-blowing action packed drama, full of angst, secrets, mystery, suspense, loss, heartache, intrigue, danger, emotional surprises, twists that make for a excellent page turner you can't put down.
Declan Creighton is part of MBK Global Security MI-6 Agent his older brother Mac joins the team.
Neil McFadden his ex-boss knows this new mission will be hard on him because of the chemical accident he had when he was on an undercover op mission in Germany.
Neil knows he suffered with scars & memory loss its been 5yrs since it happened, but he thinks his ex-boss is hiding something about this new mission one if their own killed Beck who was poisoned by a drug.

A romantic suspense story featuring a wounded hero with memory loss and a heroine hiding a big secret, “Burn”, by Kenzie Macallan, has a lot of action, drama and a bunch of characters connected by blood, friendship and camaraderie.
Declan, the Dark Lord, has gone through a lot of pain. I liked the sweet and relatively easy reunion with Olivia and the swift transition into family life. Declan and Olivia really deserve a happy ending.
The story relies too much on dialogue and the main characters talking about their feelings, emotions and experiences. Combining this with the suspense plot and the several dangerous episodes happening there’s a tendency to turn sometimes into non rational and even careless decisions.
I always enjoy a tortured, wounded hero, but Declan’s eloquence proved something of an anticlimax; for me, he was just talking too much and revealing too much (something strange for a former MI-6 agent).
The over-description of often mundane activities made the reading process a bit monotonous and I didn’t’ enjoy the author’s strategy of relying on dialogue to convey sometimes important information; some aspects seemed implausible.
Also Declan’s “alpha male attractiveness”, his “strong, lithe body” and the fluidity of his gait felt at odds with the extent of injuries that would somehow impair and slow him.

The story relies too much on dialogue and the main characters talking about their feelings, emotions and experiences. Combining this with the suspense plot and the several dangerous episodes happening there’s a tendency to turn sometimes into non rational and even careless decisions.
I always enjoy a tortured, wounded hero, but Declan’s eloquence proved something of an anticlimax; for me, he was just talking too much and revealing too much (something strange for a former MI-6 agent).
The over-description of often mundane activities made the reading process a bit monotonous and I didn’t’ enjoy the author’s strategy of relying on dialogue to convey sometimes important information; some aspects seemed implausible.
Also Declan’s “alpha male attractiveness”, his “strong, lithe body” and the fluidity of his gait felt at odds with the extent of injuries that would somehow impair and slow him.

Intricate and Complex!!
My first read from this author, but definitely not my last!
This was an unexpected delight. Complexity in both the danger and intrigue, and in the relationships. We have Declan on a mission. He is to return to a lab where he had a horrific accident years ago. After a long recovery he still doesn’t have all his memories of that time. Someone is creating a dangerous drug and experimenting on soldiers.
Olivia is currently his contact. She is focused on her work to cure dangerous childhood diseases. Declan remembers her as the “ice queen” from his prior time there. He ends up becoming involved with her precocious daughter, protective dog, and his namesake kitten. Olivia only knows that 5 years ago he “disappeared, not that he almost lost his life.
Interweaving of the mission story and the revelations of each of them over the last 5 years. Edge-of-your-seat action, emotional revelations, an entertaining quote challenge, and an undeniable draw to each other as we take this journey with these characters. Exceedingly well done.

"Burn" is Book No. 3 in the Deep 8 series. I read it as a standalone and had no problem following along. As a matter of fact, I loved the book so much that I will definitely read more in the series and also read other books written by Kenzie Macallan. She is a wonderful author and storyteller. You will feel all the emotions of the characters; love them, hate them and understand them.
"Burn" follows the story of Declan (strong, sexy military guy) and Olivia's (strong and intelligent) past and present relationship. And there is a little twist to the story that keeps you wanting to read more.

This book is full of so much intrigue and suspense. Declan works for MBK global security and has the call name Dark Lord. Declan is sent to Germany for a case where he learns he is working with Olivia who he worked with in the past. Declan doesn’t remember a whole lot from their time together five years before. This time Olivia knows that he is working undercover. Their time together is intense as she tries to figure out if she can trust the new Declan. While they are working together they also have to navigate someone trying to hurt them and stop their mission. Their story is full of questions that need to be answered and drama that will unfold. You will not be able to put this book down.

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. First time reading this author's work but definitely won't be my last. The book started out a little confusing for me yet it still drew me in with the layer of intrigue underlying suspense that kept it interesting. It was like trying to unravel a puzzle or mystery that had twists and turns and interesting characters. The chemistry between Declan and Olivia was full of tension, heat and steam and throw in how wonderful he is with Poppy just makes it swoon worthy. Definitely a book you don't want to miss!

5 years of Declan's gone and he's been trying restore it with no luck. When a op came in and sent him back to germany and back to the same job before his accident he thought it was gong to be in and out. He had no clue what was waiting for him.
Olivia was warned that Declan was coming back and she had mixed feeling and knew she had to keep her heart safe and her secrets hidden. She knew once he got what he needed he would leave without a trace again. This book didn't disappoint and a little more answers and a lot more questions.

Wow! This was the first book I read from this author and it was phenomenal to say the least! I’d rate it 10 stars if I could. Make sure you have tissues nearby. I found tears streaming down my face at times with everything Declan went through. If you like romantic suspense, then this is a must read in my opinion. I so enjoyed Declan, Olivia and Poppy together. Highly recommend! I received an ARC and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

There was so much going on in this fast paced action packed book. Declan is sent back undercover to the place he was involved in an accident that left him horrifically burned and with a huge gap in his memories. Olivia can fill in those memories but may not want to. As danger escalates it will take a while team to ensure everyone survives. Great story that was impossible to put down. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a first read for me by this author and I will definitely be back. I am new to this series, but I figured out all the characters without any issues. I loved the back and forth between the two main characters, Declan and Liv, their challenges of each other. Loved the analogy of a quilt, with memories and holes. I love his dominance and also skin and texture, but most of all, her uncles! I knew he would be promoted to a king.

Declan and Olivia share a history. He was gone for som time and now he is back. He went through so much and Kenzie did a good job delivering his pain. Olivia has quite an amount of anger towards Declan. It was emotional and suspenseful, a surprise as well but a good read.

I really really liked this one. I have not (somehow) read any of the other books in this series - but I didn't have any problem catching on to what was happening. Declan is/was an M16 agent and a scientist. Which frankly is pretty amazing considering getting your PhD takes a lot of time and he is pretty young to have figured that all out, and been an MI6 agent, and having been injured 5 years ago and been pretty much off the grid since then. Declan is back in Cologne, Germany to investigate a terrible drug that removes memories. A drug that seriously injured a friend and fellow team member. Cologne is where Declan was seriously hurt in a lab fire during a previous assignment. He has only limited memories of his time there - but the resulting injuries changed his life in every way possible.
Olivia is a senior scientist that the company Declan is investigating. She and Declan have HISTORY - history that he has only limited memories of. Five years later Olivia is a single mom and dedicated to finding cures to terrible childhood diseases. She's very tough and has reasons not to fully embrace Declan's return. But as things quickly escalate between them and with the case - she and Declan have to rely on each other.
Just for full transparency - this is definitely a secret baby book. I usually avoid secret baby books because, as one of my favorite authors once said, the reason for the secret has to be air tight. Luckily in this book it is - for the most part.
There are definitely a few things that kept me back from giving it five stars - and a few areas where some editing was needed to clarify and keep things consistent. I kept getting confused as to whether Declan and the guys worked for MI6 or a security firm - and who exactly was in charge. Maybe this would have been more clear if I had read the other books. Also - Poppy is one seriously precocious 4 year old. I also did keep getting lost in some of the past history Declan talks about - especially with his brothers. I felt like I should be more aware of that somehow? But it doesn't look like other books in this series tackled his brother Mac - but maybe that was in another series. Anyway - while it wasn't a problem to start here - I did sometimes feel like I was missing some key background information.
Overall I enjoyed it and will probably go back and read the first two books now!

Did you say second chance romance, steamy romance and an intricate plot? I’m in! And boy are you in for a wonderful story too. Declan, ex MI-6, now a team member for MBK Global Security is back in Cologne, Germany, where things went to the doghouse five years prior. Unfortunately, a part of his memory also went as well and this causes him to feel like he is missing some vital information, which, of course, he is!
I found the story grabbed my attention in the beginning and it held it but it was a tad sluggish, mind you it could have been me. When things start happening it becomes so intense I couldn’t stop reading, I desperately wanted, no, I needed to know what happens. The action and drama is incredible and fully develops into a clearer puzzle with pieces slotting in more rapidly.
The lead characters, Declan and Olivia, are terrific because they don’t sugarcoat things. Special mention should go to Poppy who is an absolute delight, a ray a sunshine in a murky world of chemically enhanced evilness. Talking about evil… when this author creates these characters she goes all out! Holy moly, talk about the devil in disguise!
Throughout are great descriptions, which makes it easy to visualise each scene, each character and their expressions. This description of the drama at one point is a terrific example… “This is an amusement park ride without an end.”
This is the first book by this author that I have read but it definitely won’t be the last. I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys excitement, adventure and romance.
