“They’re saying it’s the greatest shipborne invasion force ever assembled, gentlemen,” General McClellan said, then scowled, “Pray it shall be enough …”

It’s spring of 1862, and Union Major General George McClellan has just launched one of the largest amphibious invasions in history, landing 120,000 Union soldiers on the Virginia Peninsula. But Stonewall Jackson means to derail McClellan’s offensive, by an invasion of his own, threatening the nation’s capital with his powerful, war-hardened army. And only Nathan Chambers, his men from Texas, and a rag-tag group of Union soldiers stand in Jackson’s way!

Then Evelyn Hanson’s spy network discovers the key to a Union victory—critical details about the Confederates’ war plans. Will she be able to reach the Union lines and persuade the wary general to believe her vital intel before it’s too late?

Nathan and Evelyn are on a desperate collision course with danger and chaos as Invasion threatens to engulf both warring capital cities!

Chris A. Bennett grew up on the shores of Klamath Lake in southeastern Oregon. For a young boy it was a dream world of water, hills, forests, and abundant wildlife. His love for action and adventure morphed into a lifelong love for books when his Mom read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings to the family on a long road trip.

It was routine and normal for the family dinner table discussions to involve history, politics, and anything interesting going on in the world. So, when he attended the University of Oregon it seemed perfectly natural (and easy) to study history and political science. But everyone said you couldn't make a living in those fields, so he decided to try his hand at Computer Science. He's been writing professionally, in the software development business for more than 35 years now.

However, Chris's thirst for adventure never faded and he began to live out his love of history onto the pages of his first book, Road to the Breaking. Once he started writing he just couldn't stop and the result is The Road to the Breaking series; an epic journey across a young nation seething with debauchery, brutality, corruption, and political intrigue, unwittingly on the brink of an unimaginable disaster: the American Civil War.

Chris currently lives near Seattle with his wife Patricia. His three adult children Nick, Rachel, and Josh also live in the Puget Sound area.

EXCELLENT.

I think this group of books has been the best readings ! I have never told my friends and family about the books I read, but they are planning to read this wonderful story. Not long ago my daughter and I went visit the home of a southern "Hero " in Smyrna,Tennessee by the name "Sam Davis Home", which made these stories explain the feeling of this great conflict.

I love historical fiction. I just finished the last book in your series and can't wait for book 7.

I have learned so much more about the civil war. I have researched the historical events and people in your books and am so thankful that how you have written the series made me want to learn more.

I plan on visiting some of the places you have mentioned amd I have researched thanks to you.

This was a reread for me as I get ready for the conclusion to the series. I liked a lot of this book. I have lived in West Virginia for 20 years, very close to Harper’s Ferry where a lot of this book took place. It was very interesting learning about West Virginia road to statehood. I also liked Margaret and Evelyn’s plot lines.
