Big Balls

Rate this book
They call me "Big Balls." And they're not wrong when it comes to how I play and the risks I take. I'm all about football, winning, and loyalty. I never compromise when it comes to my daughter. After my wife died, I took the role of single father to the next level. Nobody, and I mean nobody, will ever come between us. Not even the unbelievably sexy nanny I hired. She's off limits, and that's the way it should be. Even though I can't keep my mind or my hands off her.

With a reputation like his, I know I should steer clear. Do my job and nothing more. But when the NFL's star player looks at me like he's looking at a Superbowl Ring, my knees go weak, my toes curl, and my lips ache for his kiss. I need to hold my ground and keep him at arm's length, especially since he's making a play to win my heart. I can't afford to play games with him. Especially when I know I'm the one who will lose in the end.

When reading the blurb, I immediately thought this was right up my alley. I love single dad sports romances and after a run of dark romances, I needed a cleansing book. I am so incredibly happy that I picked this book up!

Anna Michael is a new to me author who delivers a storyline that has steam, a spunky heroine, three best friends that a guy wishes he did not have sometimes, and who could forget Katy, Ethan’s daughter. The BF’s and Zoe were hilarious in the book, but I have to say that Katy was the star.

Katy is not your typical kid. She is neuro diverse who flourishes under her tutor, Zoe. Katy’s autism does not slow her down when she has someone to teach her and guide her. She is whip smart and may only be six, but she acts six times that age and is the ‘mother’ to this band of billionaires.

Poor Ethan has been dealing with things in his personal life that have caused him to be guarded, sheltered, and overly protective of Katy and her surroundings. As a wide receiver for the New Orleans Sinners, his hands are his money makers, but the plays that he does after catching the ball have earned him the moniker, Big Balls. Well, Mr. Balls, it is time to nut up and get on board with the changes that are happening around you.

I, truly, must give, Ms. Michael a round of applause. Technically, this book was spot on about the autism spectrum. It can be difficult to write about a topic if you do not have firsthand knowledge. For me, Katy is very reminiscent to Asperger (high functioning) patients I have worked with. Congratulations!

DNF at 35 percent.

Probably should have given up on this one around 15 percent because the entire beginning was nearly all narrative and very little dialogue/action. Guess I hoped the action would pick up. (It did, a tiny bit, but the verbose narrative continued.)

Spoiler Alert

Lost my connection to the story/characters when NFL star Ethan left in the second half of an away game to charter a plane and fly home because his 5-year-old daughter broke her arm. Along the way he was a jerk to everyone around him in the hope that his bad attitude would get him home quicker. But then...he walks into the hospital where his daughter is being treated and stops to flirt with an elderly lady before going to see his daughter. I mean, was he in an all-fire hurry to be at his daughter's bedside following a semi-routine childhood injury or not? And him tossing aside his professional obligations to burn rubber and burn bridges to go home ASAP did not endear me to Ethan. Seems like it would have been fine for him to leave *after* the game to hustle home to his little girl.

3.5 ⭐!!!!

Well this book is about Ethan who is a single dad and a overprotective father who is undergoing lots of past stuffs and trying to deal with it.

Katy who is the soul of this book who deals with autism, she is six but she is way smarter compare to her age, she is a free will. Even though she is suffering from autism nothing stops her from discovering new adventures in her life.

Zoe who is a sunshine and wants to help people who is suffering from autism and when she got the call for taking up a nanny/tutor job she was really excited and when she comes to know that she is gonna work for Ethan she was little nervous.

Zoe and Katy has a very good bond throughout the book which I really liked.

What I didn't like is at times there was a huge tension build up and suddenly there was break and it goes off as it is. I feel like it's going too fast and something is missing. But the last 20% of the story was great I loved it.

Try this if you like a sports/single dad trope.

I received a ARC COPY from the author in exchange of an honest review.

When I read the blurb, I was excited to read the book. I love this trope and looked forward to diving in. I really liked the book and the characters. It was sweet, and I enjoyed it, but I felt like I couldn't completely connect with it. There was something missing for me, and I don't quite know what it is.

I'm giving this one 3.5 stars, and I still suggest you pick it up.

This is the first book I've read by the author and I think it's very sweet and cute. I especially loved and adore Katy, Ethan's daughter, who is on the autism spectrum. And because of that Ethan really needed help to care for her when he's not able to be at home during away games. So he hired Zoe to be her nanny.

And what do you know, Zoe is just who they needed. She's amazing with Zoe. However, it's kind of hard for Ethan to be around Zoe because of their attraction and chemistry. I loved the tension and angst between them. You can see how Ethan tried so hard not to act on it. But I don't like how he treats Zoe, he would go back and forth with her when he's afraid.

I loved his friends and Zoe's family. They're amazing, I loved how they tried to wake Ethan up and told him what he did wrong. I definitely hoped they're going to have their own story.

Big Balls by Anna Michael was a fun single dad sports romance story about two people fated to come together after a few brief encounters and it did not disappoint! This was my first time reading a book by Anna and I really enjoyed reading this story as the way she wrote it was so much more than just a sports romance—it was a story about love, family, friendship, overcoming obstacles and perseverance. I loved how she created an intriguing storyline with complex characters and how the plot flowed flawlessly.

Our FMC Zoe pretty much stumbles into the life of Ethan "Big Balls" Alexander and let’s just say it didn’t go well at the first meeting. And possibly the second as well. Ethan, a widowed single father to one of the cutest girls around, is tired of people going after him for his name and fame but is willing to do anything for his precious baby girl Katy—who just happens to be autistic. Not wanting to leave by her with just anyone while he’s traveling, one of his friends arranges a nanny…who just happens to be Zoe. Luckily for them both Zoe has experience in that area, and they instantly connect. And everything is going beautifully until Ethan opens his mouth and finally runs Zoe off. Can he win her over or is it finally too late?!?

I love the dynamics between Zoe and how she was always pushing him to allow Katy to do more and even though Ethan struggled non stop about all the new “freedoms” I loved how he always put Katy first. The side characters were also well written and I absolutely fell in love with his best friends, a kooky aunt, Katy and all of Zoe’s family.

Overall if grumpy single dad sports billionaires with adorable daughters and the best of friends and a feisty heroine are you’re thing you’re going to love this one! And while this isn’t the spiciest of books, what few scenes it has more than makes you for it! And the fact that this book more or less centers around those dealing with neurodiversities or living on the spectrum was definitely amazing and only made me want more—especially for Zoe’s brothers story or Katy as an adult!

#Sports #SingleDad

This was my first book by this author. I loved her complex characters and the growth they have over the course of their story. This book is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA.

Ethan is a star wide receiver of a professional football team and the single father of Katy. Katy is a six year old doll who happens to be on the spectrum. I really appreciated that Katy was a complex character. I also loved the emotions the reader gets to see Ethan experience as he watches his daughter bloom under the care of the new nanny. I also really appreciated his feelings of inadequacy as a parent and his self-doubt about his ability to care for Katy in a way that she needs. Ethan can be not-very-nice at times, but I adore how his friends, his mom, and Zoe handle him when he gets out of line.

Zoe is very mature for just getting out of college. I love how she is able to stand up for herself against Ethan and how she fights for Katy to have a more normal life. I love the friendship she and Ethan form and I appreciated the angst and heartache when things fall apart. When they are together, they are on fire with chemistry and provide some smoking hot scenes. (You gotta love athletic stamina, right?)

I love how Zoe is a princess that saves herself then gets her prince. The complex characters and the story line that provided more than I expected made this a five star read for me. I can't wait to read more of this author's work.

Big Balls

This was my very first Anna Michael book, but it will not be my last because I loved this book so much!! The storyline is based around a child with autism and the scenes are heartwarming to say the least! The add into it the hottest, most wanted star football player ever and a reluctant bystander willing to help and you have the makings for a beautiful romance story!
Katy is six years old and currently hasn’t had anyone working with her in how to adapt her sensory issues and her father - Ethan - doesn’t really know how to help her. He’s always had the wives of his teammates looking out for her during the games. By chance, they meet Zoe after a game. Zoe figures out how to help Katy and reruns her to her grateful father. Months later, Zoe becomes Katy’s nanny and the rest, as they say, is history!! You’ll have to read this amazing story to find out what happens! There are up and downs, heated arguments, plenty of sexy times 🔥, and so much love your going to burst! I hope this author has more books planned for each of Ethan’s best friends from this book because I’m not ready to be done with this storyline!! 5 very enthusiastic stars for this book!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Big Balls by new to me author Anna Michael is a delight. It's the first book in a promising Big Easy Billionaires series.

Ethan Alexander has the best hands in football but I swear that man has taken a few took many hits to the head. After the loss of his beloved wife, he has shut himself off from anyone except his precious daughter. She's six going on 25 and a ridiculously adorable handful. She's also on the autism spectrum and to say Ethan is struggling is an understatement.

Zoe Devereaux is bottled sunshine. She's Mary Poppins' less put together sidekicka She has experience with special needs. She's perfect for Katy and her grumpy dad. She's also damn near a saint for putting up with our fickle hero. Thank goodness, she's nobody's pushover!

This book was so earnest and adorable. Zoe and Katy were pink covered perfection and Ethan as a dad... sigh. He messes up a lot but don't we all? I loved his relationship with his best friends and their devotion to his little girl was awesome. I loved Zoe; she didn't need to wait for anyone's permission to be completely herself and in doing so, she gave Katy that same permission! Can't wait for the rest of this series!

Being new to Ms.Michael's work i've been looking forward to picking up her books! Ever since i stumbled across the synopsis for this one, i've been wanting to read it ever since. I knew i had to pick it up first. I jumped into the Big Easy Billionaires world as soon as i could. I so enjoyed this story!

Zoe and Ethan's journey captured my attention from the get go! From the moment these two are brought into each other's lives, i couldn't wait to see how things would play out for them.

I was so glad that i got to dig deeper with these two characters. I loved that i felt many things throughout with them. They had good chemistry! I really enjoyed what Katy and the other characters brought to the story as well!

With Big Balls, Ms.Michaels has created such a good read that made me feel so much! I am so looking forward to picking up more of her work in the future! I can't wait for more of the Big Easy Billionaires!

I came across this book via a promotion from another author. The story looked cute, so I thought I would give it a try. I AM SO GLAD I DID !!! The title may be "Big Balls" but there is a lot of big heart in this story. Ethan, single dad and pro football player, always puts his daughter's needs before his own. Zoe, nanny and would be teacher of kids with special needs, puts everyone first. And, of course, there is Katy, five year old, cute as can be, would be card shark has a heart that makes you want to smile over and over again.
Anna Michael did a wonderful bringing attention to a subject that needs more exposure. Katy's autism is an underlying theme - one that is woven throughout the story. Michaels writes about typical day to day occurances that happen to a five year old like Katy. Some are more poignant than others but Michaels does a great job of incorporating enough humor to make the story happy and not depressing.
After reading "Big Balls", I am a fan of Anna Michaels. I can not wait to check out her other books!
I would definitely recommend this book!

You are the best of my heart, the pulse in my veins and the energy of my soul...

Ethan is so swoon worthy. Yes, he is a hot sexy football god, but the love he has for his daughter Katy turned me into a puddle. Being a single dad is definitely challenging especially with a special needs child.

Zoe becomes Katy's nanny and they instantly bond. Zoe has a natural ability with Katy. Ethan sees how she connects with his daughter and he tries so hard not to fall for Zoe. He realizes its futile. He is a goner for her. She is such a genuine person who is not at all interested in his fame or money, another plus. He finds her refreshing. But he finds himself struggling to come to terms to entering into a long lasting relationship with her after his wife, the love of his life passed away.

A beautiful, poignant story that moved me emotionally and left me feeling uplifted.

I'm a sucker for a single dad, sports romance and when I read the blurb for Big Balls by Anna Michael I thought it would be right up my street.

After losing his wife Ethan didn't think he would fall in love again but then he meets Zoe.
Zoe becomes Ethan's daughters nanny and soon they are developing feelings for each other. Ethan's daughter Katy is on the autism spectrum and Zoe is perfect for her, Katy really starts to thrive in her presence. Soon things become complicated and Ethan has to decide if he's willing to open his heart once again or lose Zoe forever.

My thoughts on this book are it was okay, for me it felt disjointed in places. Things were happening and I was sat here thinking 🤔 how did we get here?
I really liked Ethan and Zoe and little Katy was adorable and I just want to say the epilogue was hilarious.

This book was cute! The title made me blink a time or two but it is explained in the book which helps. 😂

Ethan and Zoe have undeniable chemistry from the start! He is a very private, very successful NFL player who wants to protect his daughter and Zoe may be the one person who can bring him out of his shell. ❤

Ethan made a lot of dumb decisions in the book. I know he was trying to protect himself and his heart, but it still made me want to throw my Kindle. He was rude to Zoe and he made decisions without thinking about how it would affect other people and that was really frustrating.

However, the angst was perfect. Anna Michael takes her readers on a whirlwind of a journey that is both beautiful and heart-breaking. There were a couple things I would have done differently, and Ethan had me frustrated at times but it was a cute and quick sports romance read.

Loved: Katy (the true diamond of this book). She was hilarious and brought depth to the story. The struggles Ethan and Zoe went through were ugly yet real and I was rooting for them to figure their shit out.

Didn’t love: there wasn’t enough to build up to certain big plot points such as their first kiss. It felt a little anticlimactic where there was potential for this huge moment of the tension finally breaking. The spice was good but a little exaggerated at times which took me out of the moment.

I completely understand Ethan’s struggle as a single dad of a child on the spectrum so his actions, while not justified, were somewhat understandable. But honestly he never fully redeemed himself and I finished the book feeling very meh about him. Even though that ending was HILARIOUS.

Not for me

This was a new to me author. And as I love sports romance, first person dual is my jam, I thought I'd love it. Spoiler alert: I didn't.

I DNFd @80% I just couldn't take anymore! It seemed very disjointed. We're kept having new events and conversations with no previous context. There's no lead up to AnyThIng! And our author just keeps going like we're all together. She tried, even though nobody had any chemistry. It's just so weird.

Up to what I read and didn't skim through, there were no proofing or spelling errors. Grammar is awesome.

It feels like it was cut for time. There is a lot of story just missing.

First off I want to say how much I enjoyed this book. I loved all of the relationships that were featured in this story, even beyond the couple this book focuses on. Zoe also has a wonderful relationship with Katy, Ethan’s daughter, and with his group of friends. I love the interactions that Zoe had with the guy group so much.

This story also focuses on raising a child on the spectrum & I loved that the author took from her own experience for this book. I did not realize this until the very end, but even while reading it everything felt so genuine. She did a wonderful job of bringing her story to the pages of this book.

I loved this book & I really hope the other guys get their stories told.

I loved this book. I loved the autism representation. I loved the MMC and the FMC. They went well together: but I absolutely adored The MMCs daughter. She was by far the cutest. Everything about the book was cute. I enjoyed it a lot. Then when I got to the epilogue I died laughing. It made my day.

Autism awareness: I loved the fact that the book went over the vast range of what people deal with on the spectrum. It’s not one little box of characteristics they are confined to. To determine if they are autistic or not. There are different challenges for each and every individual and I feel like this book did a pretty good job of describing that.

Okay, wow. This book was so good. It was very realistic and it was even better because of the little imperfections in the characters. I loved little Katy and everything she stands for, the autism, but also concurring her difficulties and blossoming into the best version of herself. The leading characters also needed a bit of work, especially the hero, because maaaaaan did I want to punch him at times. In the end, it was a really enjoyable, fast read and I was hooked from start to finish. Definitely recommend it!

I absolutely loved this book. Yes, it throws every emotion at you but that’s what a great author can do! There were parts I literally laughed out loud.

The banter between the characters was written with perfection. The storyline, captivating and flowed very well.

Even her side characters, the best friends, were great.

Katy’s character brought a different dimension to the book that I haven’t read in another book yet- but loved.

Can’t wait to read more from this author.

A few of my fave tropes: single dad, opposites attract, and sports all rolled into one sweet romantic story. As a mom of a child who is on the spectrum, I appreciated how this author wrote of the little lady and the struggles her father faced raising her on his own.

This story just made me sigh, smile, and root for this little "family" to come together for their HEA.

This story was enjoyable from start to finish, not too heavy on angst, and absolutely perfect for a little escape.

Loved his book!!!

The tug and pull between Ethan and Zoe from the first time they met was enough to make any one laugh at sone parts of it. I had to laugh at the thought of Zoe's dad hitting Ethan in the face with a chair. Katy is an amazing little girl and their biggest cheerleaders as well.
I highly recommend this read.

This was my first time reading a book by this author and I really enjoyed it. I found I enjoyed her writing style and I enjoyed the characters, the plot she wrote about.

This story has a really big plot point that I really enjoyed as I am a mom to special needs kid. While she does not have Autism, I do have many mom friends who are affected by Autism in relation to their child and I can only imagine how hard it would be for a single parent with an Autistic child who is also so sought out my the media.

This is the story about a football player, Ethan "Big Balls" who is a single dad to an adorable daughter who also is 5 and Autistic. He is a widow who loved his wife and is holding her memory very close while also trying to be the best single dad possible with some help from his billionaire best friends and fellow teammates.

Zoe enters his life as his nanny to Katy and while she helps out with his daughter he ends up falling for her. But he is not wanting to let go of his wife and he is also struggling to know what is best for his daughter Katy.

Zoe was an awesome character and I adored her. She is the best thing that ever happened to Katy and as Ethan struggles in knowing what is best for Katy , I did not love how he treats Zoe. While I felt sympathy for him, I felt he got into his own head a bit too much.

His best friends, the billionare bachelor friends were awesome. I loved them and cannot wait to read future stories about them. I also loved how they got on Ethan's case when he made a mess of thinsg with Zoe.

Zoe has the coolest brothers and dad and I loved how involved they were in this story.

I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ethan Alexander is always good at what he does, on and off the football field, when it comes to the game he always puts in his best effort and when it comes to his daughter he is all in all the time. But sometimes juggling the two can be a little overwhelming, and he doesn't want to admit it, but he might need to hire a nanny to help out. But that would also require him putting the life of his daughter in the hands of someone else and letting them into their very private lives... and that is where the problem lies. He's not sure he can do it, but what other choice does he have!

Then Zoe Devereaux walks into their lives and fits perfectly, almost too perfectly if you ask Ethan, and it scares him more than he cares to admit. He wasn't looking for love when he hired her... but it found him!

From the get-go this story had my full attention, the words grabbed ahold of me and wouldn't let go. Our hero and his sweet little daughter instantly found a place in my heart, they were just too cute for words. Then Zoe joined the mix and it was as if it was meant to be, even if it took grumpy Ethan a while to warm up to the idea. Watching these two try and stay on their sides of the line was quite entertaining, you could tell the attraction was there, but they also wanted to abide by the rules. It was a constant test of their will... and slightly torturous for me, but it all worked out in the end!

I really enjoyed this first time read, it was emotional, steamy, sweet, and good for the heart! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it's characters will steal your heart and every ounce of your attention at first glance!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Ethan is footballer, widower, father to a special little girl and very complicated. Zoe is needs a
job, is caring, knows to handle special kids and very emotional. When these two meet each
other, first by concidence, than for a job interview, things get out of hands very often. Mostly
by Ethan who is not so good with words. Zoe wants to help him and his little girl and falls for
him, much to her unwill. As things get serious and little Katy gets involved Ethan takes a step
back. Zoe is hurt and leaves New Orleans. Can Ethan overcome his own rules he sets for
himself and find the right words? And wants Zoe to hear him out one last time. Is love and a
HEA in the cards? The author summarizes almost everything in a short and understandable
way, without rambling or rambling on for a long time

Ethan “BIg Balls” is a widower and a single dad to his little cutie of a daughter Katy, after his wife passes, and Zoe is hired as a nanny. These two are drawn to each other but Ethan is reserved, and he has closed himself off from everyone except his daughter. This is a well written story which has family, friendships, humor, witty banter, emotions, intrigue, loss, healing, and love, which leads to an all-consuming page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.
