Sahvrin Bishop--aka "The Eveque" is taking a wife.
Bayou Code allows her to choose to either serve as his right hand in The Twelve or become his domestic goddess at home.
He isn't allowed to sway her choice but nothing stops him from making one or the other hard to make. And with a war on the horizon with the people who trafficked her, he's fighting to keep his angel hidden and protected.
But since she's anything but the hiding type, he's forced to play dirty with her.
I’m a husband and author, and I may be a little religious about both. I like writing hot sex and encapsulating it in the delicate white silk of devotion, commitment, and psychotic obsession.
I am so enchanted and so very intrigued by this Lucian Bane MC series!
This is book two, we are back in the swamp and everything is heating up! Swamp humidity got nothing on these Bayou biker men and their women🥵
In this book we officially meet Maggie and Spook, these two have an instant connection and add in a very complex situation and hold on for the ride!
Maggie is sassy as hell, feisty, other worldly beautiful like Beth and just a whole lot of special in the one package. Spook is a lone wolf, loyal to the bare bone, a mystery you want to devour and strong willed! These two together will cause some serious HEAT!
We learn more about Sahvrin and Beth, as we go along in the journey of their relationship, struggles, HOT as satan’s pit sexy sense and the up in coming war dooming down on them. Beth learns more about her role in the 12, while Sahvrin tries everything to change the role to keep her as safe as he can.
I love the twist on the MC genre that hasn’t been seen before, I can never predict what will happen next.. You won’t want to put this book down, with each one I read and the more I learn.. the more I get sucked in, ragged around (in the best way) and thrown back out with a book hangover while I wait for the next..
Lucian bane is a master of words and leaves us sitting like minions patiently or not so patiently waiting should I say 😆
This is not a standalone storyline as the current book feeds off the previous one. 'The Eveque' is the second book in Lucian Bane's "Bayou Bishops" series and if you haven't started it yet, you have no idea what a treasure you're missing! As I'm reading this book I feel like I'm there, catching up with old friends and making a part of all that is happening. If you read 'Bayou Bishops', book one, then you'll remember there is a celibacy clause. Well, if you use a bit of creative thinking, you'll know there are ways to achieve the end results without breaking the clause, and of course, Sahvrin and Beth have put that to good use. *fans face here* Now that Beth's going to become Bishop's Right Hand, she has a choice to make. One that only she can decide without any interference from Sahvrin. On top of that, Beth finds out, from the Horde's investigation, that she has a sister she doesn't remember who has been living in a hospital all these years. It becomes Spook's job to protect, babysit, and train her for survival in the swamp. Oh, and Spook is still living with the celibacy code and Maggie is wanting to constantly feel him. Mon Dieu! The war is still on the horizon, things are changing faster than The Twelve seem comfortable with, and the Revelator has answers to questions he's had all his life. What a great book. This is turning into an epic series.
I am loving these books. They flow. One story doesn’t end at the end of the book. The characters and their stories are interwoven seamlessly. My only suggestion is a dictionary with the Cajun phrases. I haven’t found a good one on Google. Can’t wait to read the next book. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lucian did not disappoint, this book is amazing. Reading this book makes me feel like I'm a part of it, sitting right there and I can't get enough of it. I'm totally hooked and can't wait for the next one!
We're back in the swamp, and the humidity is not the only thing that has it hot! This is a continuation of thе Bayou Bishop series. It is well written and keeps you fully engaged, as the story unfolds. Lucian Bane has a way of creating heroes and heroines you love and protagonists you love to hate.
You will learn more about Sahvrin and Beth's place within the 12. This book introduces Maggie and Spook to the mix. You will definitely love the complex chemistry between these two. Spook is able to pull things out of Maggie that no one else can, but it comes at a price to him.
So, grab your favorite snacks curl up and be prepared to have a reader's hangover. Because you won't want to put this book down.
Every book I read of Lucian Bane's just makes me love his writing and creativity even more. The Eveque, the second book in his Lousiana Bayou Bishops MC just blew me away. It starts off where the last book's cliffhanger left us. In a way, his book is about two couples. The Bishop or The Eveque and his Bella Eveque Beth. And Beth's sister Maggie and Spook the leader of the tracking & survival hatch. Bishop is still trying to figure out how to keep Beth from becoming his right hand in The Twelve since they are going to war and doesn't want her touched by it in any way but also wants to follow the code that says she has to choose what she wants for herself. Since he knows she's going to choose to be his right-hand he proposes the make The Gauntlet more complicated for her as a way to make her fail even though she can keep taking it until she passes. This leads to him and his Mah-Mah wanting to change things up with the code. But we all know Mah-Mah is on Beth's side and not Bishops so what kind of plan does she come up with? When Bishop gave Beth some tasks to complete he didn't realize what he did. Beth has to make Katrina pull her weight around the farm and do some work. When she refuses Beth challenges her to a Bat-tie (a fight) for it. Bishop is out of his mind with worry cause Beth is his angel and he knows how dirty his ex-wife Katrina can be. I can't wait to see who wins that one! Bishop and Beth brought Maggie back to the swamp from the mental hospital she's been in since she was 7 and kidnapped in the Bayou. She's mute and throws temper tantrums like a child even though she's almost 30 due to the trauma she's been through that no one knows about. She doesn't like Bishop because he has her Beth and she wants Beth to herself since it's been so long. But in walks Spook who is staying near her place to help her if she needs anything. They have an instant connection and he gets Maggie to talk. He even takes her out in the woods to teach her survival and defense skills to help her be more confident in herself. Their connection does nothing but gets stronger. When they first meet the dynamic between them is hilarious. I laughed so hard when she tried to get him to explain his celibacy cause she didn't understand it. As the story moved on and The Revelator showed up things got a little serious. Turns out Maggie has a gift. And it can be either good or bad we will have to see. I gave this book a 5-star rating and a 5 spicy rating cause it's off the charts steamy. This is the first book I've read that has dual relationships in it as it does and I love it. It seems that's going to be the theme of the series. It was left on a cliffhanger pertaining to The Revelator and his book is next. I definitely recommend starting with the 1st book in the series if you are interested in reading this one so that you'll understand what's going on. But this book could be for anyone who loves to read a dark romance with twists and turns throughout.
I don't know what to think about this one. I really wanted to like because I quite enjoyed book 1 in the Bayou Bishops series. However, there were just certain aspects of this story I couldn't get behind and I struggled to finish it.
Let's talk about Maggie, Beth's older sister that acts like a child because she's been locked up in a mental institution for the last 20 years. The way she acts is equivalent to that of a seven-year-old child, the exact when she was taken by traffickers. Could it be a form of trauma that's manifested itself after 20 years? Probably, but that's never explicitly stated. I wished that part of the story and history between Maggie and Beth was given more time on the page within appropriate contexts.
The plot moves so slowly, I'm not sure what it is anymore. It seems we need a minute-by-minute play-by-play of every move and thought each character makes. I was looking forward to the Gauntlet Trials, only to realize that's not happening until like book 6 in the series?!?!? 😵 I also realized in this book that it's only a few days since the beginning of book 1?!?!?! Why does the actual timeline happen so quickly but the plot moves so slowly? Something isn't adding up here.
The whole series has a lot of potential but there are some issues that I just can't overlook. So, I don't know that I'll be continuing with it.
Sahvrin Bishop is making sure that their bayou will remain safe and they will have to get every Hatch in the bayou working together as the twelve they make it possible for everyone to live well. Unfortunately his ex-wife comes with some story about helping her save her daughter only he doesn't believe her until she tells the hold story he and his brothers go into town and meet at Roulette's where Sahvrin makes a bet and wins. Spook has been charged with keeping a watch on Maggie Beth's older sister when they get her back to farm. Maggie is immediately attracted to Spook and he to her but he has to make her stop touching him and when he hears something unusual from her bedroom he rushes in and gets shocked not realizing that everything she learned she learned at the hospital she has been in since she was a child. With his help Maggie realizes that she is very capable of defending herself. She is driving spook crazy but when he talks to the Revelator who provides information Spook decides the best thing for himself and Maggie. The Revelator is the Bayou seer especially so to the Leveque. Beth as his wife will become his right hand but there are questions and the Gauntlet that she would have to over come first that entails way more than she is ready for but he gives her a task to handle that goes way beyond what he expected. He let's them know the war is coming a lot sooner. Romance, violence, and family. Excellent story line and characters. Book 2 in Series. I purchased a copy. I volunteered an honest review.
This is what I love in series from certain writers. Before I wax philosophy I have to explain this book picks right up where Bishops "paused". Yes it ends with me drooling for more asap but I'm not slack jawed and tossing my kindle yelling about an incredible cliffhanger. The first book is centered around Sahvrin and Beth. She splashes into the Bishops swamps. It's Beth and Bishop.
The end created an opening for her sister Maggie and Spook, one of The Twelve, to make their stamp in this world. The Eveque picks up with the center around our original couple but also circles around them with this new dynamic between Maggie and Spook. She is Beths long lost sister who needs a guiding hand when she comes to the swamps. Eveque thinks Spook is perfect.
Beth and Bishop have absolutely hotttt and crazy sex and her sister has been getting a big crush on Spook and vice versa. Celibacy is required for The Twelve. Or maybe that should change 🤔.
Revelator. Sweet Bayou Seer. Keep the ball rolling and let Revelator grow on you until he is the focus of the end here. Hmmm. He's the next to get his story?? YES!! Lucian Bane has set up his wonderful world so I can just roll into Revelator and keep getting to know the other characters. It's brilliant!!
Clap clap Lucian Bane ..I'm getting ready for the next installment. Tadaaa!! 🖤
This is a must read!! Characters are humorous and passionate. I love it!!
And then it got mysoginistic, condescending and super religious suddenly at the end of this book. Super disappointed. The smut and relationships are both spicy and well written. I just was really digging the unique equality of this book and then poof gone. In the name of the lord and the whims of a husband. Gross. Also, very annoying that all the chapters are out of order. *SPOILER*
Now, let's talk about Maggie. Her character is not well written. She goes from being mute and institutionalized to just being able to speak after a stranger commands her to.. Super misleading representation of mutism. Also, her behavior the first couple days with Spook was disportionate, erratic and just crazy unrelatable. Then, she's suddenly able to act like a rationale human being. She makes no sense. The sisters never even discuss their father, how she feels about being abandoned at a hospital when she could have easily been taken care of at home, their mothers death.. There are also a number of plot holes that don't make sense and you have to just ignore them and move on to keep reading the series.
For instance, the uncle who took care of Maggie.. Why did he prevent her from taking the medicine? Creepy. Also, why does she need to do this every night anyway? It's doesn't seem scientific at all. Why didn't Beth ask him any questions about her family? Why did her parents have the same uncommon last name and why does no one find that odd?
This is not a standalone storyline as the current book feeds off the previous one. 'The Eveque' is the second book in Lucian Bane's "Bayou Bishops" series and if you haven't started it yet, you have no idea what a treasure you're missing! I became obsessed with this unique and mesmerizing series while reading book one, Bayou Bishops (so awesome), and jumped right into The Eveque which is equally riveting. The story picks up right from where the first book ended and not only do we still get lots of Sahvrin aka the Eveque, and his angel, Beth (although I can never get enough of them and their incredible passion for each other!), we also meet another heavenly couple in the making, the loner called Spook, and Beth's strange and amazing sister, Maggie, who's more than a little angelic herself. While the Twelve are preparing for war, Spook is tasked by the Eveque with watching over and training Maggie. The growth of their relationship is simply fascinating and is a significant part of this book, which also provides a more in-depth introduction to the spiritual and gifted Revelator. Book three is his and I can't wait to begin it. The setting, the characters, the flavor, the hint of paranormal - everything about this series is extraordinary. Still obsessed.
We are back to the swamp for the continuation of this fantastic series by Lucian Bane!! In this installment we officially meet Maggie and Spook. As things heat up between them, Eveque and his Belle Eveque heat things up on their own. The swamp heat has nothing on these two couples! Maggie is a force to be reconned with just like her sister, with a beauty to match. Maggie and Spooks relationship takes a fast-paced turn that Spook was not prepared for... Beth is prepared to fight for her man in a Bat-tie event in the swamp and Mah-Mah has plans of her own!! I love all of the characters thus far, but the Revelator is striking a chord that cannot go unnoticed. He, himself, has things revealed to him that send him in a tailspin. I cannot wait for the next installment of this wonderful MC series!
Oh, it's getting good, and then bam, you end it like that. Seriously, WTH. That was just wrong on so many levels. Thank goodness I don't have to wait for the next book. Ok, so this book picks up right where the first one ended. Bishop and Beth can not keep their hands off each other. I guess he has a lot of making up to do. Bishop wants to change some of the rules/laws for The Twelve. Mah-Mah and Beth want to change some also. I wonder how that's going to work out for all involved. Then we also have Maggie, Beth's sister. What the hell happened to her, and do we ever find out. Spook, or Spooky, that was cute. The two of them together were...wow. He did not put up with Maggie not talking, which I thought was interesting because why did she not talk. The two of them together would be so good. Hmmm, have I got your interest yet? Good read the book you won't be disappointed.
So our tale continues and the heat is rising, both in the swamp and between our couples. Maggie and Spook are caught between desire and duty, whilst Bishop and Evie continue to work on the kinks (literally) in their relationship. The plot in this story continues across both books, so to truly appreciate the full impact I would say they are not standalones. Although to some these books can be challenging due to the writing and terminology, they are well worth the effort to enter this colourful and exciting world, not to mention the scorching scenes between our main characters. I am seriously hanging for The Revelator to be released.
The Bishop Bayou story continues as changes are coming. Beth has gotten The Eveque’s heart and she plans on keeping him. As The Twelve gather for a war, Spook is given a task to watch and then train Beth’s traumatized older sister, Maggie. Only he winds up enchanted and confused. Pretty great reading their interactions. Back and forth with the characters but I believe my heart went out most to The Revelator. Hearing his thoughts and partial story of being ‘The Moses of the Bayou’ has really touched a softness in my heart. I am eager to read his story and the outcome of his encounter with new character Cherie. It will continue to be an epic series.
The Bayou will never the same. Beth and Sahvrin continue their story in this second book with same intensity as the first. Now let's add in a sister that Beth didn't remember, tests that Beth must pass to be able to stand as Bishop's right hand, major changes for the Twelve, and a glimpse into the gift of Relevator. I adore the characters in this series. Each has a personality that reaches across the page in a way that draws me into their lives and makes me a bystander watching the events play out. This is one of those series that has me binge reading the next book!
I haven’t found too many characters that I don’t want to read more of. I love Mah-Mah. Gregarious, loving, take no bull crap Mah-Mah. I was surprised with the revelation about Maggie and Beth’s dad. I’m glad it’s looking like Beth’s father isn’t a sleazy scum bag. And Maggie? What a strange woman! I love the way Spook is pulled into the story line and entangled with Maggie. The biggest surprise ( beside the bat-tie) is the meeting with the Revelator! Quite an eye opener. I thought I was going to read many a book or two in this series and move on…silly me. It has pulled me into the swamp and now I’m along for the ride! I can’t wait for more!
Brilliant continuation in this series slowly continuing the story of Eveque and his beautiful Ma Petite. I absolutely loved this book and would thoroughly recommend it hoping that others enjoy it as well. Beth and her Bishop are developing their relationship learning together what each gifts and tells are. The book also brings in Maggie, Beth’s sister who has been institutionalised since she was abducted and rescued when she was seven years old and Beth was two. Also Spook who is one of the Twelve men who are in charge of the Hatches of the Swamps. Loving every word and looking forward to what happens next.
Both characters are preparing for war, one a physical kind, the other a spiritual/emotional kind. They are like all couples making the mistake of not speaking what's really on their heart and mind.
It's true of the second couple as well although they're getting it more right because they both don't have the experience not to speak their mind.
Fireworks are definitely ahead and the sexual tension is part of the thrill. This instrument didn't disappoint. Definitely looking forward to the next!
I truly enjoyed this book. It was much better written than the first. There was a great improvement in grammar, spelling and punctuation. These are wonderfully written characters and the love between Eveque and Beth is beautiful. I especially like Maggie and Spook and how their story was incorporated into the Louisiana Swamp kings. The story of legend and tradition makes this an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this book to read. Louisiana is a mysterious place but they hold true to who they are. That's a refreshing change.
That's it. I'm hooked. Book two takes up where the first ended. Bishop and Beth collect Maggie and take her to Louisiana and Spook. Meanwhile, the unsettled misbehaviour of other groups continue to affect the swamp-based family. Wonderful characters; Bishop and Beth's relationship develops, and we get to know Spook, Maggie and the Revelator in more detail. Mystery and mystique surround the world that Bane describes, the patois can be difficult to decipher, but the meaning is clear. Compelling.
This series seems to have it all. Romance, drama, intrigue, LOTS of la passion, really really sinister bad guys and a big helping of otherworldliness. The overarching plot is the classic good v evil because let’s be honest there’s very little that’s worse than human trafficking and all it entails.
This focuses on Spook and Maggie and oh boy is that hot in all the best ways. Really looking forward to the next book, featuring the mysterious Revelator and a woman who will be his equal.
This story had taken hold and I just want more.. hahaha
This story is definitely different and that is a good thing. Not your average MC book but it does have some elements. I love reading the way they talk. That “Louisiana slang” for a lack of a better word. The hotness stirs and simmers and then someone lights the heat and you definitely feel the burn. Now.. waiting for the next book and I’m not very patient when I want something badly. Hahaha 🤓
I am really enjoying this series which starts with the book Bayou Bishops. The Twelve rule and take care of those in the swamps. The Eveque is the head of the twelve, his wife, Beth is destined to become his right hand. This is also a story about Maggie and Spook; another member of the twelve. Lucian Bane is amazingly talented in the ability to write engaging stories. Start with the first book and then continue to this one. You're in for a treat.
I am so glad I finally have had the time to really dig my teeth into this series….And I am happy to say what a trip to the swamps it has been…hope y’all are ready for the heat! You know it is hot and humid in the swamps and this book just heats it up more!! This book continues with Bishop and Beth’s story and introduces us to Beth’s sister who has an instant connection with Spook and vice versa…..I recommend y’all take this trip to the swamps with me!!
More of a continuation of book one and a lot of the story was taken up by the sister to the original heroine in book one.
For me, so far these books don’t have much of a MC feel to them but I’m loving the family feel. I didn’t enjoy how much of the story was devoted to Maggie and wanted more about Beth & Eveque’s story.
The scenes with The Revelator were great and is a good example of beliefs I grew up with. I was disappointed that the Bat-tie didn’t happen.
This is the second time to read this book. You get so much out of it the second time that I encourage all readers to.do this. Maggie is a very complex character but perfect for spook even if he doesn't realize it. That makes it fun. The Bishops think they have a handle on their emotions but they are out of their league with these women. Yes, they know about making love but there is a lot more to it! Read and find out!
Loved the characters and the direct continuation from book 1. Lots of spicy scenes, which made the plot lag. Most annoyingly, the chapters were not in sequential order. Chapter 1 was followed by chapter 6 and then 9, etc. Had to keep going to the table of contents and hunt for the next chapter, which made reading a bit of an exercise in annoyance.
