Even as Joey struggles to make sense of everything she's seen, what role her beloved Astor has in it, and what it means for her relationship with him, Crestfall Bluffs is a flurry of activity preparing for the Thistleburn Unveiling Gala Party. When Joey intervenes in a situation she doesn't fully understand, it will bring everything to a head in the most unexpected way!
This is a five-part story. Rather predictable, but have been enjoying it. This issue, however, was the letdown so far. We have the lesbian kiss on the beach between Jo and Petal and then the ridiculous tackle of Pip by Jo to allow Noreen, the housekeeper, escape. Then the ending of Astor proposing as Pip chases Jo. The while storyline is far from reality, but this makes it comical. Well, it is a comic book.
It was looking like Jo was settling into the cannibal life, but I guess not. And I suppose we should welcome that.
This is the volume where things really start to pick up! There is so much action in very few pages! Something I really like is how it explains why the rich continue to eat their employees. It creates real stakes and helps the reader better understand why no one has stopped this horrible tradition. I love how effectively and disgustingly animatedly this reflects capitalism. It definitely leaves off on a cliff hanger, but it certainly makes me excited to read the next one.
I knew this book was gonna be messed up, but I didn't know how messed up.
That being said, there's definitely the underlying issues of class and social status. I think Sarah Gailey does a great job of intertwining that with a disturbing/mysterious plot.
I'm really enjoying this book so far & I highly recommend it
Badass joey!!!! I'm glad she stood up somehow. Also petal is just so beautiful I can't —
I'm putting my whole money that astor just knew all along and purposing to her is just his way of trying to save her somehow. There's no other reason i can think of.( Or so I'm hoping i truly don't know anymore) things keep taking sudden turns and I'm so engaged!!

Now, the conflict escalates as Joey realizes she has an ally. She’s not alone in thinking what happens is wrong. We also learn about the hunger, how you can’t go back to the way things were without suffering for it. Interesting at the symbolism becomes clear.
This is going all over the place way too fast and I am out of breath. Astor is way too cool yet paranoid at the same time and I cannot help but hate him every time he appears on the page.
