Will he survive the ten-day journey in a cramped carriage with those three? More important, will he keep his hands off Beatrix? He is falling in love with her, but she is returning to Edinburgh for an arranged betrothal to another man.

💋💋

All other Scottish hero’s eat your heart out, Lucas Lyon is on the prowl, just waiting to save a lady in distress.
Meara, I’m bowing down in front of you, we are not worthy.
Excellent reading and so enjoyable and satisfying.

I enjoy any book in this series but when it’s written by this author there’s a little bit more romance, a little more mood, a little more character to the whole story.
Don’t let yourself miss this one.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

London to Scotland 1817

"He had no intention of becoming Bessie's next victim." Famous last thoughts by Lucas Lyon as
he met with Bessie-Love Lyon at her insistence before he left for Scotland.

So how did he end up with Beatrix McGlory, daughter of his employer and one of the most important men in Scotland, her imposing aunt, Lady Rochester, and her little beastie of a dog, no bigger than a hedgehog with the name of Posy, taking them back to Scotland in his coach?

Lucas, a handsome Scot (are there any that are not?); sweet but fierce when needed, considerate, protective and did I say handsome? She did not stand a chance!

A delightful story by one of my favorite authors, who never fails to make me fall in love with her characters and their journeys. Don't miss this one!

Proud Scottish brothers, Cheyne, Matthew, Lucas& John are known as the Lyons of Mar. Three have married will banker Lucas be next?
Lucas Lyon thought he could escape the matchmaking schemes of his distant relation, Bessie Dove-Lyon, by waiting for the morning of his departure from London to visit her but when he leaves her Lyon’s Den to return to Edinburgh not only with the beautiful Beatrix MacGlory in tow, but her overly perfumed Aunt Harriet and her aunt’s little yipping dog Poseidon aka Posy as well.
Another lovely story in this multi author series & another well written enthralling read from the author. The characters are just so good that you feel as though you really know them. The story never lags & combines a lovely mix of emotions fro laughing to shedding a tear. I loved both Lucas & Beatrix who fell hard & fast for each other on the journey to Edinburgh but her father was the fly in the ointment. Do the pair find their HEA? Well that would be telling! A delight to read with strong brawny highlanders, a grumpy father & a bow wearing pug.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

In this feel-good romance, the Black Widow of Whitehall once again scores a bullseye as she tasks Lucas Lyon with escorting Miss Beatrix MacGlory to Edinburgh, where she is to meet her betrothed. Beatrix is quite happy with the match her father has engineered for her but experiences unsettling feelings in the company of Lucas. Lucas is furious that his aunt has made arrangements without consulting him, especially when he realizes that not only will he be accompanied by the beautiful young woman on his journey, but her aunt and scrunch-faced beastie as well. Under the watchful eye of Aunt Harriet an attraction grows between Lucas and Beatrix, to the extent that once they reach Edinburgh, it becomes evident to Aunt Harriet that the fat is truly in the fire. Beatrix's father, who is also Lucas' employer, is not at all pleased about developments and there are others who would also thwart their plans. It takes misspoken words and some goodwill on the part of others to turn the plot around, bringing this romance to a rousing and hilarious conclusion. I received a copy of this entertaining novel as a gift from Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

A double whammy - love reading Meara Platt and love the Lyon's Den series. Great characters and storyline. The only person I didn't like was Beatrix's father, although he did get better toward the end of the story. Oh, I loved the little pug dog too. 5☆

Bessie Dove-Lyon is no sweet, doting aunt, but a distant family relation to Lord Lucas Lyon. Called to the Lyon's Den, he suspects he is next in her matchmaking. He finds out he has to escort his employer's daughter, Lady Beatrix MacGlory, her aunt and a pug named Posy to Edinburgh. Not too happy about it at first, he soons changes his mind and falls head over heels for Beatrix. She is falling for him, too. The obstacle is her father, who has someone else picked for her to marry. Beatrix knows she has to fight for what she wants and what she wants is Lucas. With Lucas and family to back her up, how can she lose. I always keep my hopes up that another Lyon book is published. One of my go to read series. This one moved at a slower pace than I expected. Maybe because the journey itself took several days to complete, so it slowed the pace down. Lucas is a very hot Scot with a big heart. He certainly won over Posy.
A little bit of steam.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Awesome

The whole Lyon’s Den series is excellent each is different but all center around the Lyon’s Den and the Wicked Widow of Whitehall.
This book deals with the last of the Lyon of Mar brothers Lucas. Bessie Dove-Lyon works her magic on her nephew and Beatrix. Lucas and her will have a difficult time getting through the iron door of her father’s opinion and will. Meara does an amazing job of bringing the story to life as do all of the authors in this series.
I fell in love with the highlanders and wish there were still brawny, brash , courageous and sexy highlanders walking around in the world.

This author brings us some of the most lovable, romantic heroes in historical romance. Lucas Lyon is the lone holdout to marriage of the four Lyon brothers. One look at Beatrix MacGlory and he is a goner - hook, line and sinker.

Beatrix' father wants to marry her off to a marquess. However, after meeting and traveling (with chaperone) to Scotland, Beatrix and Lucas definitely have other ideas. With their families (except for Beatrix' father), plus Posey the pug cheering them on, the couple is determined to marry.

Full of her trademark humor, wit, and lots of romance, this one will keep you turning the pages.

This book was just plain adorable.

I loved the relationship between the 2 main characters, I loved how their relationship progressed, I love how there wasn't really any fighting between them (no misunderstandings, etc), I loved that there was some conflict, but not enough to take away from the lightness of the book, I loved the pug. I just loved it.

This book definitely surprised me with it's trajectory. It had a very unique storyline and I will definitely read more books from this author.

The pack of lyons is complete…………

Another great love story for the Lyon brothers. The connection to the characters from reading the previous books made everything so much more relatable. The banter, loyalty, and foolishness between the brothers was so funny and realistic at the same time. Beatrix and Lucas were perfect together. I loved the way their families came together after seeing their love for one another. This novel was a good way to wrap up the series. You had romance , angst, obstacles to overcome, humor, and a HEA.

This is a fun and romantic story, with some drama thrown in. Lucas is the last of the Lyon brothers to be matched, and determined to remain a bachelor. But when Aunt Bessie tells him that he will be escorting an unattached female back to Edinburgh, he knows he's been matched. He's very okay with it, for the most part. Posy is very entertaining and steals several scenes, I laughed and cried while reading this, and was caught up in the storyline.

Highly entertaining!

Lucas is a strong, but very lovable character. Beatrix is innocent, yet wise for her years. Their journey is long, but has several side trips, such as a hike to acquaint Beatrix with the wilds of Scotland. Mrs. Dove-Lyon makes her quick appearance and then leaves the couple to their own devices as they travel with Aunt Harriet to Scotland. A lovely story that all would enjoy!

Sweet but a bit sappy

Mostly enjoyable but a bit sappy sweet. He's almost too good to be believed. At first annoyed and then quickly content with the situation with hardly any complaints. She started out sassy and determined only to switch to naive and gullible. Not the best in this series but okay. Nice flow, a bit jerky in pace but mostly enjoyable.

Lucas Lyon is going to my Hall of Fame for Romantic Heroes. He is the hot and handsome protector of his English lass. This book is one to savor because of this favorite Lyon of Mar. Lucas is smart, with a golden compass for a heart. Yay for the Duke's little brother and his sweet bride!

Loved the final book in this series within a series. Cheyne, Matthew and Lucas are all strong characters related to Miss Bessie Love-Lyon. You can't go wrong when reading a Meara Platt book.

1817 London and Scotland

Bessie Dove-Lyon, is the owner of the well known Whitehall gambling establishment, who also has a side business as a notorious matchmaker too. She is also known as the “The Black Widow” and is a distant Lyon relative too. It turns out that the infamous matchmaker strikes once again with another Lyon cousin! Bessie Dove-Lyon, truly runs her matchmaking business like fine art, as she is highly skilled with the insight for detecting soulmates for life! It now seems that financial banker, Lucas Lyon, now has a target on his back this time as he might be her next Lyon victim in the name of love. Is it time for Lucas to discover his future wife being the only Lyon bachelor brother left?

Lucas Lyon ignorantly assumes he is being forced to escort this beautiful woman alone for ten days in a carriage which would totally ruin her reputation. Now just by appearances alone he knows she was no tavern wench, she is dressed in the finest fabrics, her articulate speech shows see is well educated, and to be honest she is the most stunning woman Lucas has ever seen. This woman has the type of beauty that painters paint about, and poets write about! Still a stranger and Lucas is not about to marry anyone nor would he ruin any woman’s reputation being in a small cramped carriage. After-all he is an honest and honorable Lyon!

All Lucas’s assumptions made were both insulting and wrong, as he told this beautiful lass it would ruin her reputation to be on the road alone with him from London to Edinburgh for ten days. He also included that he had no interest in marrying her or anyone period! He accused her of being in cahoots with his cousin for a marriage offer and to get her money back for buying him as an escort and even tried to give her some pound notes as repayment. Well he just kept putting his foot in his mouth, as she keep threatening her father would find out about his refusal to bring her to him in Edinburgh as if he was scared of some sassenach father! He started to smell something fishy was going on as It turns out”she had a chaperone, her Aunt Lady Rochester, who wore a bottle of ill smelling perfume. This also included a yapping dog who seemed to want to bite Lucas and his bosses daughter Beatrix MacGlory! A daughter he never mentioned In all the years he worked for him , she is also going to meet her father’s choice of a marital possibility the Marquee of Greenock. A man Lucas truly despises and feels he should warn this innocent lass of this debauched man’s true nature.

Lord MacGlory heart was broken and never moved on that he has ignored Beatrix, his daughter, most of her life since she looked so much like her mother. He even married a cousin only because she looked like her mother and Beatrix was raised by her Aunt and Uncle who loved her very much and were like a mother and father to her. While getting to know each other Beatrix and Lucas quickly fall in love as Beatrix feels Lucan is the sweetest and most handsome man she has ever known. Now will her father force her to marry this Marquee she feels nothing for, but is willing to marry her for a title as a Marchioness! A man she never disagreed with before always doing what she was told. Why can’t she marry a man she does love something her father doesn’t want his daughter to have in her marriage plus it looks like this Marquess might be marrying her for all the wrong reasons. Yet Beatrix does remember how Lucas wanted nothing to do with marriage when they first met will she be forced to marry the wrong man all because of her fathers broken heart? Read and find out!

Another beautiful Lyon Den Scottish regency book with a hero and heroine that became stronger because of her their love and devotion for each other. I really loved that about this book as the quote goes “two half’s become one hole, as Lucas and Beatrix definitely complete each other! This is riveting, fast-paced, page-turning, romantic adventure, that I absolutely devoured from start to finish. Another Meara Platt novel that both historical regency and Scottish readers will love and should definitely check out this spectacular read that I highly recommend.

Lyon in the Rough by Meara Platt is the last of the books dealing with the Lyons of Stonehaven. It is part of the Lyon's Den Connected World of Mrs. Bessie Dove-Lyon. Lucas' older brothers had been caught in her web, but he didn't. To assure it, he left visiting her to the very last, before he left for Scotland. It didn't work. As he was finishing tea, Beatrix popped into announce her presence. Bessie had arranged for Lucas to transport her and her chaperone and her chaperone's dog, back to Scotland. He would not let it happen to him. But, of course, it did.

Lucas was strong and brave, and good-looking just like his brothers. He worked for Lord McGlory in a bank and had been on London negotiating contracts with the crown. When he discovered that Beatrix was Lord McGlory's daughter, he didn't worry. He knew his position was safe. He was the brother of the Duke of Mar, and he and the other investors were as invested in Lucas as much as they were in the project. Beatrix was young and inexperienced and he needed to give her a chance to meet other people and determine if he was what she really wanted. Lord McGlory had a fit when he found out. No one can write a romance like Meara Platt. There is just enough plot to make it interesting and always plenty of excellent characters to make it fun. There are also come unexpected twists and turns. This was a terrific book. I recommend it.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Lyon in the Rough by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #netgalley #dragonblade #mearaplatt #lyonintherough

Destination marriage

Bessie Lyon-Dove strikes again and orders Lucas to take Beatrix and her aunt to meet her betrothed. Lucas was just thinking of making $$ certainly not meeting beautiful Beatrix her dog and aunt to deposit in Edinburgh.
Lucas thought he had escaped The Lyons Den by waiting until moments before time to leave!? Not! Beatrix comes along and Lucas feels sucker punched! Along the way these two fell in love and Lucas is determined to make her his not some frumpy toad Lord! Beatrix is his!
You would think Beatrix father would at least entertain the thought especially since he has ignored her for over 15 years! Well plans are made but Beatrix stepmother decides to intervene! She invites the herself and Beatrix further her and Lucas acquaintance and see his home! The hope was spending time together seeing the Castle and meeting the family Lucas already knows but perhaps this will prove to Beatrix surrounded by nasty rumours in Edinburgh this man is hers if she brave enough to defy her father and not listen to a jealous harpy!
There story is a little rocky but of course a happy ending only in the Lyons Den! I love the traditional swim with the Lyon brothers bottoms leading the way you feel as if you are a part of the festivities and parade! Well done!!

Great series - all stand alone, written by different author's. Only connecting theme is the owner of the Lyon's Den and matchmaker Mrs. Dove-Lyon. Funny scene when the H learns who the h's father is - made me laugh at his discovery. I wanted to know Mrs. Dove-Lyon's take on this couple at the end - did she know they would be the perfect match?

I was hoping the h wouldn't be a mouse when it came to the interactions with her distant father. She started out wanting to please him, but thankfully that didn't last long. She became a Lion/Lyon and I enjoyed the dialogue with her father when she found her voice.

This dragged at times with little happening especially on their journey. But there was one scene at an inn that had me holding my breath. Some tense moments with the h's family and their reactions felt true to life and not some outlandish happenings.

Lovemaking within marriage heat level 2 out of 5 if that. I did feel a connection to this couple so it was filled with love.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, romance build quickly, HEA, and a tad of spice. The Pug added to the story - especially the gender reveal - lol. I can't improve on the blurb, just what touched me reading it. I recommend this author, series and story. (ljb)

I have only had the opportunity to read one of the other books in the series, and I loved it, so I thought to give this a try since I have read other books by Ms. Platt. I've loved every one of her books that I've read and this was no different. In this delightfully charming romance, Lucas seems to be the next victim of Bessie's matchmaking schemes. She is a distant relation of Lucas' and is highly skilled when it comes to her matchmaking efforts. He is tasked with escorting the lovely Miss Beatrix to Edinburgh where she will meet her betrothed. Her aunt accompanies them on their journey and witnesses the growing attraction between them. Beatrix 's father, who is also Lucas' employer, is not happy with this new turn of events. Lucas and Beatrix have truly fallen for each other, but with these obstacles in their way, will they be able to get their happy ending?
This was such an enjoyable story with wonderful characters that had sizzling chemistry and a storyline that kept my interest from start to finish. Another well-written and entertaining story by Ms. Platt! She never disappoints!
