From USA Today Best Selling Authors ML Preston and Sade Rena comes this heartfelt, small-town, interracial holiday romance.
Shani Evans
Most would describe my run-in with Caleb O’Neil, the rude, obnoxious, and extremely hot jerk who stole the only bottle of my favorite liquor right from under my nose as a chance encounter. I on the other hand see it and him as nothing more than an annoyance and inconvenience.
All I wanted was to make my famous eggnog and enjoy my first Texas Christmas in peace. Imagine my surprise when said asshole shows up at my neighbor’s Christmas Party. And now he wants to date me. I should turn him down, but how could I when I’m so damn attracted to him.
Caleb O’Neil
Who would have thought a fight over a pesky bottle of whiskey would lead to me finding the woman of my dreams. Shani is drop-dead gorgeous, curvy in all the right places, educated, and feisty—a deadly combination to any man with a pulse. And now, I’m pretty sure she hates my guts.
But color me surprised when I arrive at the holiday festivities to find the ballsy New Yorker standing in the center of my brother’s living room. She would have liked for me to leave well enough alone, but when I want someone, I won’t stop until she’s mine. Six days is all I need to convince her to be mine forever. I expect her to decline, but she shocks us both when she accepts. So, let the wooing begin.
KISSES OVER EGGNOG is a stand-alone, BWWM Christmas romance complete with a HEA. This book contains mature content and is suited for readers 18+.
ML Preston is a USA Today Bestselling Author who writes Contemporary, Multicultural Romance. Encouraged to nurture her active imagination, she quickly found a passion for storytelling. She spins sagas of passion and romance where the lines between race and creed, physical perfection and social norms disappear in the face of love. Novels of real love; erotic connections with a heart and soul that everyone can relate. She makes a home in Texas with her husband, three children, one fur-babies, and two grandchildren to rule them all.
I disliked the hero so much there was no point in finishing.
Love the idea of the meet cute (as she reaches for the last bottle of liquor she needs for her eggnog recipe.. he grabs it.. then he shows up at the party as her friends brother in law).
Here are a few quotes that illustrate why I sadly couldn’t finish this:
“I’d probably write about my breakup.” Slowly, I drag my gaze back to hers. “Was it bad?” I huff. “Let’s just say I proposed and now I want to get to know you.” “Sorry.” —— THIS WAS AT THE BEGINNING OF THEIR FIRST DATE?? WHY WOULD HE SAY THAT 🤨
“Seriously? I present you with a gift and you turn it down? I am being honest and humble with you, Shani. I am truly sorry for my behavior.” —- why do men think after one simple act of kindness women owe them praise.. 🙄
“She’s natural, and it’s the hottest shit ever. No makeup or overly sexual attire—just a girl in her comfort zone.” —- this is anti woman i’m sorry 😭
I am not sure where this story was going but I just don't care to read further to find out. Characters were not interesting and did not pull me into the story.
Caleb and Shani met at a liquor store on Christmas Eve, sounds romantic, right? Not! They end up having an altercation over the last bottle of crown royal salted caramel whiskey. And being the A**hole that he is, he snags it and leaves the store and Shani is fuming! Fast forward couple of hours and Shani made her famous spiked eggnog using a pecan praline liquor instead and it’s at her neighbors’ house ready to celebrate when who enters the room but Caleb, the a**hole! He’s Teri’s (Shani’s neighbor and friend) brother in law!!! Shani’s not happy about it but she’s a grown up, so she tries to handle the situation the best she can while Caleb is trying to hit at her (he finds her quite attractive) but failing miserably since he’s still showing off the fact that he got the last bottle of crown. D¡ck move! The next day, Caleb shows up in her house to apologize and asks her to give him until new year’s to prove that he’s worth it and invites her to go out with him on daily dates. Shani is a strong, independent woman and she never backs up from a challenge. She’s in! After all, Caleb is attractive, smart and it’s been a while since her last relationship. This is a fun, heart warming holiday novella. I truly enjoyed their journey, seeing all the dates Caleb plans to woo Shani! How these two geeks fit like peas in a pod with each other. He’s a Texan boy, she’s a New Yorker and I love their banter! And the heat? Oh boy, these two can turn it up! Loved the ending and the two epilogues had me swooning! I’m hoping there are more novellas coming up for Shani’s friends, it’s a fun group!
When Caleb steals the last bottle of alcohol that Shani needs for her famous eggnog he’s instantly on her bad side. Neither were expecting to see each other again but of course they do and he convinces her to give him a week to court her and make her his. From there we go in sweet journey.
This was a cute read. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about Shani at first because she was a little much but I got over that pretty quickly. Caleb was so adorable and all his dates were great. The supporting cast also added to the story in a great way and didn’t take away from our MCs. While I could’ve done without the Emma “drama” I knew from the beginning it would be a thing, luckily it didn’t last too long.
I love a good epilogue, and this one had two! Very satisfying.
If you’re looking for a light, sweet holiday read, check this one out.
Shani recently moved to Texas from New York and her feisty attitude gives that away. While trying to get the last ingredient for her famous eggnog for a Christmas party. There's only one box left and it's on a shelf. But by the time she's reaching for it, a tall attractive jerk grabs it first. Shani gives him that New York sass. Little does she know, but he found her to be attractive too and now he wants to win her over. Kisses Over Eggnog is a cute Christmas romance. They do go through some struggles such as past relationships and wondering whether they're really over the past and ready to move on or not. It's a story of learning to love again and finding joy in the holiday season again. It made me gasp, made me she'd a couple tears, made me Feel happy with a lightness in my heart. All the things I don't normally read or feel was here and I LOVED it!!
What a great book!! When I read the synopsis I knew this book was going to be very interesting. And that was an understatement. This book was HOT! Who knew that Caleb & Shani fighting over the last bottle of Crown Royal salted caramel would be the beginning of one of the best weeks in their lives! I loved everything about Caleb and Shani's story. The instant chemistry, the whirlwind courtship, the complicated unspoken drama of Caleb's past that led to the beautiful magical ending made this one of the best holidays books of 2021. This was the first book I've read of a collaboration of these two authors. I really hope they continue to co-author further books. I will definitely be reading them.
If you are in need of a sweet splashed with some spice cozy read I highly recommend Kisses Over Eggnog. What kinda starts out as an enemies to lovers kinda story turns into melt your heart and of course melt your panties kind of story. When our MC's first meet it is over a covet bottle of whiskey. Their first interaction makes you want to punch Caleb in his arrogant face. The second time they meet that feeling will still be there! LOL! I will say by the end of the book you are going to want to climb him like a Christmas tree!
I absolutely loved this book! Been in a slump and the lighthearted love and story completely brought me in. Caleb’s persistence through Shanis stubbornness was the perfect push and pull. The ending was absolute perfection! I love a well rounded and thought out HEA and this one was perfect! As always ML and Sade delivered an impeccable story that had me entranced from the first chapter.
If you are looking for a well written RomCom Holiday story then I urge you to look no further.
Kisses Over Eggnog is the perfect Holiday story with equal parts steam, comedy, and overall a story that just makes you feel.
Like with any story we have our hiccups with the main couple but that's what makes this book so good, because these hiccups are pulled right out of real life and so relatable.
I definitely recommend you read this story and fall in love with Shani and Caleb but also the cast of secondary characters that had me laughing out loud.
Seriously this book has it all. Spicy 4/5 Emotion 5/5 Follow thur5/5. No spoilers will be given by me. I found my self stretching my reading days out because I didn’t want it to end. Great holiday book. I want more from these two besties. I love Caleb and Shani. A strong woman of color female lead with a great head on her shoulders with a man that has his ish together. They are perfect for each other and yet first impressions still matter these days. And best intentions can also lead to bad impressions too. Just read! You will find yourself thinking about these two characters long after you are done! Good job ladies!
I’m not sure if it was intentional or just because it was collaborative but everyone in this story kinda read like a PoC to me. Which I very much liked. I think Shani was dead on in her assessment of Caleb and his past and I kinda loved the way she handled everything, personally. I love a good stoic FMC. This was a cute and enjoyable read. I didn’t love love it but it would definitely make my Hallmark w/spicy channel. A daytime slot but still it makes the cut!
This was a good story. I love how it started out. Shani didn't sleep with him the first night because he was so irresistible. She didn't fall in bed with him when he kissed her goodnight. I guess the third date was too much for her so she begged for it. She was very understanding of his lifestyle before her met her. I like the relationship and the couple. Teri and Patrick were great. Good book.
I really enjoyed the story, especially the spicy parts. Shani and Caleb's chemistry and banter was super cute and relatable. Looking forward to more books in this series!
Wow! I so want a Caleb in my life. And I LOVE how he and Shani meet. They are the perfect couple. While their pasts threw a few road bumps in the mix, they found the way to each other. This was a very sweet (and sexy) holiday read. Really enjoyed this.💜
What a fun and sexy Christmas love story. So much going on but in the end choice and love is all that matters. The past can catch you off guard if you don't face it that you miss your future. Love that there wasn't any over the top drama.
Personally I felt like this book was okay. The romance was alright but it wasn’t particularly incredibly interesting or swoon worthy, but it was cute. It was a pretty normal, mundane yet cute story between Shani and Caleb, and I thought they were a cute couple for a majority of the story. There were a few moments I didn’t really care for Caleb, however, like whenever he’d pry Shani for information but would be really reserved and closed off whenever Shani would ask him about his personal life. Plus some of the things he’d talk about for them to not even be dating were a bit, ehhhhh. Then after giving her the liquor she originally wanted, somehow he felt like she owed him a sliver of her time like, uhhhh okay lol. It was a pretty decent holiday romance that wasn’t the worst, and for a BWWM it’s not terrible, it’s just that you can’t really feel the romance despite reading it. The only other small thing was editing, the grammar was good but sometimes I’d get tripped up with when quotations ended. The prologues were cute too but in first prologue with Teri and her….(iykyk) was kind of cringy to read, but otherwise this was a cute story!
Oops! When Caleb and Shandi meet, I wanted to hit him hahaha (arrogant attitudes also shock me), so I was very happy that she gave him the ice cream. I Share the opinion that Calen was very confused about his past, I think it was important that he talk about it more, also that in the synopsis they tell us something but once in the story it turns out another, I didn't like that. In general it is a nice story, where the hero has to be hit on the head and the heroine fulfills the task.
📚
I love this wonderful story! It was captivating, sweet, funny and good. Shani is living in a new state of Texas. She is intelligent, beautiful, sassy and straightforward. She is trying to get her last thing she needs to make her special eggnog when it's ripped right out of hands. Caleb is the one who took the thing Shani needs. He is handsome, smart, charming and funny. When he arrives at his brother house, he meets Shani again. Is it love at first sight? Grab this book and find out for , and I promise you won't be disappointed. The writing was done beautifully and flows throughout the book. This is my first time reading from either author and I love their writing. Amazing work Sade Rena and ML Preston!
This was a quick read and I don’t even know where to begin. I loved this book show much and the authors did such an amazing job and bringing Caleb and Shani together.
Shani is on her way to the liquor store to buy Salted Caramel Crown Royale because that’s the main ingredient for her killer eggnog that she makes. Unfortunately, there was one bottle left and a rude, obnoxious, hot tattooed man took it from her.
From there, Caleb and Shani get to know each other, from finding out that Caleb is her friend’s brother in law and then Caleb gives himself six days to prove himself to Shani.
This was such a cute read and it wasn’t a super festive novel, but I really liked it regardless! I can’t wait to see what else these two have up their sleeves!
Shani and Caleb - Kisses over Eggnog could lead to wedding bells
I loved this book. The beginning was so funny with Caleb grabbing the liquor and winking at her and calling her ‘darlin’ and winked, taking the bottle to the cashier. Of course, his Texas drawl and her New York accent was hilarious just reading this book. Caleb had 1 week to win Shani over and get her to like him. And he did. Guys, you need to think of dates like this for your woman…take some tips from Caleb. Great book and oh so funny!
Ok this was a really cute fun novella. The action moved along nicely, never really stalling and the story overall was super cute. I enjoyed both the main characters, a lot. Their banter and sassy attitudes had me laughing throughout the entire book. The spice is there and appreciated, but the innuendos and directness of different characters is almost better. The third act breakup wasn’t too terrible and there wasn’t even really a miscommunication trope. I immensely enjoyed this and the two epilogues!
This story had great bones! I think it could have been great as a full novel but as a novella it was still good. I feel like it lacked chemistry between Caleb and Shani. Maybe it was just the wording of some scenes. All in all though I thought the idea of trying to win someone over before new years was cute. I think it was just so much packed into a few days that made it unrealistic to me and hard to get into. I can’t wait to see what else they have written to give those a try and see if I like those!
Era obvio que Caleb no había superado a su ex. Shani me encantó, inteligente, centrada, trabajadora...
