The Dark Moon curse has struck

For centuries, my kind was thought to be extinct. It turns out that we aren’t, but I'm the only one left. I was chosen for reasons that I don't understand, and it’s up to me to save the werewolves when the Dark Moon curse strikes.

To make matters worse—or maybe better—my fated mate Lachlan has been hexed to forget me. Suddenly, I’m a stranger to him, but it could be a gift, because as soon as we fall for each other, I’m fated to die.

In order to save the packs, I’m going to need Lachlan's help. We should be resisting each other—and it should be easier because he has no memory of me—but the attraction between us is irresistible. But no matter what, I can't allow myself to fall for the alpha werewolf who is my mate.

description

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

Dear journal....

Yes, I'm still bored. Yes, I still want to find out how this will end. And well, yes, still a lot of skimming.

I've decided to give this book 3 stars not because it deserves them, but because, despite all the annoying and boring things that are happening in this book, I am still hooked.

It's like eating something that you know is not good for you: yes, it's bad, but you just can't stop yourself for some unexplainable reason.

Good part though: only 1 book left. Let's see.

With each book I’m liking Eve even more and in this instalment she truly embraces all that being a Dire Wolf means but there’s still a shocking realisation to come. Lachlan finds himself ( slight spoiler) in the unenviable position of not remembering his Mate but with Wolves being cursed he’s determined to push on and finally help put an end to the mysterious, shadowy Maker !
This series constantly keeps the reader on the edge of their seat with its memorable characters that constantly leap into action. The author always has surprises with adventures that drag you into history and myths. I love this about her books and as they pull me in I so want to be in the same world as these amazing, magical characters. I had thought this might be the last book featuring Eve and Lachlan but no, the ending leaves me hanging as it definitely wasn’t the one I’d hoped for ! If torturing your characters, not to mention the reader was an Olympic sport than this one definitely deserves the gold medal. Alas I’m left waiting for the next book which hopefully won’t be too long in coming.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Of all of the Wolf Queen books, “Rising Moon” is my least favorite. I feel like a gerbil on one of those exercise wheels, running and running around with no where to go and no progress being made. Honestly if it weren’t for the fact that only one book remains in this series I would abandon it all together. Usually I would finish a 200 page book in a couple of hours. This one took me two days!

Here we are again with Lachlan and Eve attempting to fight their attraction to each other and trying to capture the master and thwart his plans. This are slightly complicated since Lachlan has lost his memory of only Eve but no his attraction for her; so, what do they do? They do what they always do, they use transport charms to pop here and there looking for things or people they need in an attempt to defeat the Master. We are teased with the possibility of a budding romance but it is never realized nor do we fully understand the curse.

For all of the running around not much progress is made in the plot until the very end. This book was mostly filler and little substance. All of the running around and avoidance is formulaic, predictable and boring. Honestly, this series would have been better served to be written as a trilogy if the fluff was removed. At this point I am not even sure if I will be reading the ending. I’m pretty fed up and that says a lot for me!

So good....

Loved the book can’t wait to read the next one. The last one is next
I loved every character in this book, had me sucked in.
I was at the edge of my seat when they were all fighting,
The storyline just went on in such a way that kept me on the edge of my seat. So, so, much happens.

The plot went along pretty well.
The characters stagnated a little bit. I just want to see more problems solved and more communication.
I will go and read the final book now, maybe all threads will be closed.

Epic!

Holy smokes! Things are heating up! The stakes just got even higher for Eve and Lachlan. Darkness has claimed some of the wolves and a war has broken out. They have to find out how to stop it before two pack are wiped out. On top of it all Lachlan has lost his memory of Eve courtesy of the Master. We hit the ground running until we get to that crazy epic cliffhanger! 😱 I'm on pins and needles! I need the next book now! Very highly recommend!

Linsey Hall is back, with Rising Moon (Shadow Guild: Wolf Queen Book 4). Its a sign of a truly talented author that this deep into this series (which itself shares a story universe with other wonderful tales) she’s able to come up with yet another refreshingly imaginative, exciting yet thoughtful, complex yet easy to follow - and totally fun - story. Read the publisher’s blurb for what’s going on in Eve and Lachlan’s world this time around, it’s all you need to know - except that, oh yes, it’s superbly told, and easy to highly recommend.

Shifter/multi Supernaturals/Mate Rejection

SYNOPSIS (5 BOOK SERIES): the FC is essentially rejected by the MC and feels that she has no choice but to run away. The story picks up about 10 years later when the FC runs into the MC when she is accused of murdering one of his pack and she has to prove her innocence. The FC is a potions master and has disguised herself as a fae so the MC does not recognise her. Over Book 1/2 the MC works out who she is but has his own reasons for not wanting to mate with her so they agree that neither wants to be with the other but they will work together to work out the mystery of the murders that have been happening. The FC is part of her own "guild" so the mystery solving includes her friends from the Guild. Over the following books the story evolves and you find out the FC is not who she thought she was and is being chased down by "The Maker". The mystery follows a similar path to the Da Vinci code in that the FC goes from clue to clue to work out who she is and what the Maker wants. Book 4 culminates in a final confrontation with a HEA.

Unfortunately by the end of this series I was seriously skim reading. Whilst the mystery should have been engaging I found it actually quite boring and following the FC and her merry band to clue after clue lacked any thrill or drama for me. It just went on for too long with not enough happening. The story became repetitive with the Maker apparently being able to forsee every step and constantly defeating the FC. In fact the Maker appeared to be pretty much invincible so I am still not entirely sure how he was ultimately defeated as he should have been able to just kill the FC before she got to the final clue.

There are alot of characters floating around in this book (some of which appear to be from other story lines by the author) and it became a bit cluttered for me with a lack of emphasis on the FC/MC. It also takes until around book 3 before the characters get together. The reason for the MC/FC to keep apart are just dragged out and run out of credibility. Even when they do get together they don't really seem to be together so I found the books actually lacked any real romance or depth between the MC and FC.

It's hard to put my finger on exactly what was wrong with this series. For me, the story did not engage, the characters did not engage and everything was just too unbelievable and OTT.

Unremarkable. I cant honestly say I remember most of what I just read because it's so forumulitic and soulless. I might read the last book since I really only stuck it out this long to see more of Eve but really these book do nothing for me. It's a chore and from the 2 series I've read, the plot from book to book is pretty much the same. Maybe a plot twist here or there but besides that it's really bland. For a series that has people going to so many places, I really dont feel any magic to the world itself. The setting is just... meh

Dragging and boring

The story is dragging... it is increasingly frustrating knowing who the main character Eve is and yet she seems so defenseless, so weak. Cannot even land a punch on the Maker.

It is taking her forever to get her powers or use her strength. At present I just want the story to get to its end which is not the right sentiment to read anything...

The connection between Eve and Lachlan is more dwveloped in this book... it took 3 books for it to become something independent to the mate bond of the wolf shifters.

I still think that the overall idea that originated the book is interesting, however the book needed better editing and the characters worked a touch more particularly the love between Lachlan and Eve.

I'm actually surprised to read this book after the last one ow as sure the adventure had ended. Eve is now a Dire wolf; however, she is still full is sass and attitude. This book starts out very fast and full of unexpected events. Add in demons, the curse, and why they are hunting eve, and this book is one heck of an intense mystery. With Lachlan's memory loss, they are out into a predicament, and even though they know they shouldn't do anything, they can't seem to not be attracted to one another. A steamy kiss leaves them both breathless and, of course, leaves them falling for each other. As the couple grows closer, even though they shouldn't, they also get little bits of information leading them on an adventure to solve why the maker is doing what he is and why Eve's new dire wolf status is essential. I really wish the book would go further into their relationship and why they can't mate. But, of course, they finally succumb to their attraction, only for Lachlan to be enraptured by the curse. The last scenes in this book are intense as Eve learned her fate and takes power. Of course, I couldn't believe it ended on a cliffhanger, and another book called Wolf Queen, book 5 is coming soon.

This author always has an adventure in her books. The entire book is spent solving one mystery after another and traveling all over with potions. I love how the author intrigues the reader with her adventures and unforeseen mysteries. This is a fantasy book but also includes paranormal romance and a lot of action and adventure. The author has done a fantastic job with this series always being exciting and new even though it has come so far. I definitely recommend reading this one in order.

Lachlan was cursed to forget.

The Maker cursed Lachlan using Eve's blood to forget her, that should work right? Maybe on memories in the mind but, not on feelings or the heart and especially not on a mate bond. It does, however, he for an instant to keep the dark curse at bay (one can hope right?). Now all the shifters are being struck with the dark curse and Eve, Lachlan and their friends are the only ones who can stop it. Time is not their friend nor is Eve's lack of knowledge of what she really is or control of her powers. Will they be able to save the shifters, their packs and Lachlan in time?
This fourth book in the series is excellent. Picks up exactly where it left off in the previous book and builds upon the current storyline. Time and power development are always major factors in this inkslinger's books but, they usually get resolved. This one ends on a pretty big cliffhanger but, it just makes you excited for the fifth and final book in the series. I highly recommend this book and can hardly wait to read the conclusion of the series myself. Exceptional read, so difficult to put down and sad when it ended.

That ending brought out a hell yes from me

3.5 for me

Dang! But this series always has a way of saving the best for last. I like Eve and Lachlan (Lachlan?) and I think the book was entertaining enough. More history lessons and some adventure with exciting danger. The twist was unexpected but pleasantly so, but also something I should’ve seen coming? The two were aggravating because of the risks they took in this book and they even got a free pass, and STILL managed to mess up. And yet I feel like I can’t be mad at them because of their plot armor which comes in the form of their mate bond. “Can’t blame them for their actions, the bond made them do it.” But if you can tell me that they actually messed up then let me hop on that train to soothe my irritation.

Other than their annoying consequence that dominoed everything, I was content. I can’t wait to read the last book.

The rating for this book was tough for me to decide on. I really like Lindsey Hall's Guild City world and the characters. This story is OK and the editing is decent. This particular series in this world (in my opinion only) is just dragging on soooooo long. I've really enjoyed the other character's stories.
But their series have been three books in length and the pacing seemed perfect. Maybe I'm a bit tired of this one because the whole thing between Eve and Lachlan is getting old- the "we want to love each other but can't due to our respective curses, but I can't stay away from you" thing. It comes up nearly every other page and is getting pretty tiresome. I found myself skimming through a lot of the book just to see where things ended up. Still, if you don't mind the (to me) excessive angst and that fact that there are so many things packed into the story, and if you're a fan of Lindsey Hall, you might like this book.

RATING: 4 STARS

I think I'm a fan of Linsey Hall's three book series more than her five book series, because for some reason I always love Books 1, 4 and 5 but struggle with Books 2 and 3. That pattern held true for the Shadow Guild: Wolf Queen series and Rising Moon.

Things finally start happening in this book! Our heroes find a chance to deal with the Maker, Eve is learning even more about her past and her background, and there is some action between Lachlan and Eve instead of him going on and on about how he can't be with her because of duty. They are finally working on their communication and their relationship, and I am all here for it. I was super stoked for all the reveals in this book (though I'm still not sure about the actual identity of the Maker).

This book ended on a cliffhanger, and I'm so happy I don't have to wait for the release of the final book. I'm eager to read Wolf Queen and see how things turn out for Lachlan and Eve!

More of the same but WORSE. How could it possibly be worse you ask? Lachlan goes and gets cursed but not the dark curse, oh no, he is cursed to forget Eve. He remembers everything but not her, there's a shadow of (as he says) a manikin in place of Eve. So we get to watch him fall for her all over again, the sappy poetic thoughts he catches himself thinking, the constant need to feed her, etc. On the bright side, he can't feel the pull of his mate, so it's them both fighting their attraction but not in the same way, well not for him. All while trying to figure out how to save the world from the Maker. Who has started handing out dark curses like crazy cat ladies hand out candy on Halloween. Oh and they want to not just save everyone but also kill the maker. There's, again a little spice but honestly not enough considering they are supposed to be fated mates. Also, what is wrong with Hades that he can't keep his demons in line? Come on man get your act together already!

Not quite done yet

Hang in there everyone! We aren’t done yet!

Quick Re-cap:

We find out more about who Eve is and what she is capable of. Lachlan is cursed and the mate bond is removed between them, but he still loves Eve and can’t let her go. Everything culminates in a battle with the Maker, but he doesn’t die.

My Two Cents:

This book is still dragging a bit. I enjoyed finding out more about Eve and her powers, but I wanted this to be the last book. I understand why it couldn’t be, but I’m getting impatient.

There is a small sex scene between Eve and Lachlan. Honestly, it wasn’t nearly as good as I hoped. The previous make out scenes were better than this scene.

Overall, I’m still enjoying the series and I want to keep reading it to see how it ends. If shifter romances are your thing, you will probably enjoy this too. Happy reading y’all!

Still alright so far

This one was alot like the other first book and the second and the third book lol they have questions and problems that they need too salve and find answers to and blah blah blah.. This one just gives you a little bit more..a little bit more of her friends at the Shadow Guild..and a little bit more of Eve and Lachlan.. There's still a lot of push and pull between Eve and Lachlan and it does get a bit tiresome, like if your going to give in just give in already dang it!!! let whatever happens, happens!!!! and if your not then don't! Lol that's the only draw back for me. I like that it has a little bit of everything..a little bit of mystery and action, Shifters, witches, ghosts, demons, etc.. So far so good I'm close to the end so I may as well finfish the last book.. hopefully the two mates come to some sort of decision doubtful but hopefully 😁 lol

Action, adventure, suspense, romance... what more could you want? This book has it all! Linsey Hall once again manages to hit it out of the park.

In this latest installment of the Wolf Queen series, Eve and Lachlan are once again thrown into the middle of the fight against the Maker. The lives of entire packs are at stake as they race against the clock to try and unravel the Makers latest scheme. Will they succeed?

Usually I can predict endings to most books, but that is not the case with Linsey Hall’s books. I can definitely say I did not see that ending coming. You know that it’s a good book when you absolutely hate finishing reading it. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait for the next one!

I received and advanced copy and this review is my own opinion.

One of the things I love about Linsey’s books is all the travel, adventure and history you get.
One of the things that makes me crazy is having a million questions and her keeping all the secrets from me. Just tell me! lol
I’m slowly getting to see more of who Eve is with each story, but I want more! She’s such a cool character and I’m loving her story.
Lachlan was attacked early in this book and he lost part of his memory. I feel like we really got to see more of who he is as a person when he wasn’t hiding behind his fear of the dark moon curse and I loved it.
Ralph is the best. I love his quirky attitude and I can’t wait to hear what he and Mac are up to.

If you love adventure and Norse history told from a shifter perspective, you’ll love Eve’s story.

A MUST READ

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again... Linsey Hall makes magic happen in this book. (See what I did there 😉) The Wolf Queen series has been one of my favorite series she’s ever written but Rising Moon??? Absolutely just took the number 1 spot for favorite book. We get a lot of action and some lingering questions finally resolved. Based on the ending (**ends in a cliffhanger**) I have a decent idea of the storyline for the final book in the series but man I cannot wait to see Linsey put her spin on it. I’m also dying to know who’ll be the star of the next series? I’m hoping it’ll be Mac but we’ll see. This book and series is worth everything and more. Do yourself a favor and read it!!!

This is the 4th book in this series and so far I have really enjoyed it. The funny thing is that during this book, I was almost at the point of thinking that this storyline had gone on long enough and I was wondering if this was going to be the final book. Each book seemed to have roughly the same story arc and I began to wonder if we would finally see some resolution. So....imagine my surprise when at the very end, there is a completely unexpected twist that totally changed my opinion....

Now, I'm going to be eagerly awaiting the next book because I want to see what is going to happen next. Great job Ms. Hall. You got my attention in the beginning, kept it with an interesting storyline and then completely hooked me with that ending.

Bring on book 5 :)

Consider Eve and Lachlan's relationship akin to fasting. The mated couple know one taste will lead to an all-you-can-eat buffet with loads of guilt and consequences, but who can fast FOREVER?! No. One. Though the two give it their all, Lachlan's Dark Moon curse has a stronger foothold than ever, his brother is still locked up in the dungeon, the extent of Eve's Dire wolf powers are still unknown, the Maker is now forcing the Dark Moon curse on hundreds of shifters (by using Eve's blood???), there is more genealogy mic dropping in Eve's line, demons are pouring out of the shadows at the Maker's command, and Ralph, Eve's raccoon familiar likes bombs and chocolate way too much. Ohhhhh, and Lachlan forgets Eve... yeah, that happens...

eeek

I don’t know how to write this review because the idea of this is not bad. The writing is what is bothering me. The one thing that has been super annoying is the amount of times characters in these books take the stairs two at a time. I swear if I read that one more time I might have to start a drinking game with it just to finish this. I honestly can’t wait to finish the series, but I find myself not caring if I come back to it at all, so it is taking forever to finish it. I feel like there are a lot of things in here that are just repeated over and over. Especially with the MC’s feelings and not allowed with the feelings descriptions. I think some of the plot gets lost in pushing a repetitive narrative.
