This book was so good I don't know where to start! Book 2 see Mari continue to kick ass with her own special kind of sassy! On the hunt for a solution to a problem that she's caused Mari needs help from someone who understands Fae magic and her fated but reluctant Mate Tarron is obviously the one to turn to . Too bad he doesn't trust her and even more distressing is the fact that the magic smells awfully familiar !
The story is fast paced with many twists and some shocks along the way. Perhaps not the funniest book the author has written but it's definitely a joy to read and it kept me occupied no end! I'm loving this journey into the world of the Fae and whether Seelie or Unseelie they are very entertaining plus if you want to know more about her awful family then prepare to get everything you want and more besides !

Storyline ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat 🔥
Finding Mari’s power is the focus of book 2. Really enjoyed the journey and the character growth. What I am starting to have issues with is the romance aspect. We are on book 3 and it is blah. I’ve read YA with more heat than this. The story saves it but if there is no romantic aspect in book 3. I may be done.

The sequel doesn't disappoint. I'm a little over their romance, because their reasons for not being together don't make a lick of sense, but I'll definitely continue reading the series because I love Mari. She's so cheeky and confident and badass, you just gotta love her. That is, when she's not going on and on about gorgeous Tarron is, or how doomed they are, or how he is driving her insane (which really, I have yet to see, because all their conversations seem pretty civilized, I mean they don't even fight). Tarron continues to be utterly uninteresting.

Absolutely amazing. Heir of the Fae just blow me away. I read it in a few hour 'cause I literally couldn't put it down.
There's always interesting happening in all the pages. From the very begining till the end there's a lot of action.
Outstanding Fae romance book. So well written. Everything. The characters, the plot, the places, the magic, the steamy romance, the action scenes. I loved it all.
Mari has become one of my favorites heroines for the way she is. She is a badass and very powerful but doesn' show it off all the time. She's humble and is ready to admit her mistakes and try to fix then whatever it takes. She's not one of those arrogant and self-absorbed girls that need to show men all the time that she's better and can do everything without any help. I really like that she's read to accept Tarron's, Burn, Aeri or whoever help without feeeling weak of bad for it. She's inspiring.
I love Mari and Tarron's relationship and how it's evolving. They respect and admired each other and even if they don't trust each other fully yet. I feel like they would be attracted to each other even without the fate bond. That's why they make such a good team and work together so well.

Definitely better than the first
I’m still uncertain how I feel about this series as a whole. Again, it’s all formulaic at this point, but really there sang much character development going on here. She gained a whole bunch of new powers, but none of them seemed to be related to the chasm and how her magic kept it open. She met her mother and somehow she’s the new big bad without a real rhyme or reason to how or why she’s suddenly interested in her daughter. Burn now suddenly has two eyes instead of the one we were introduced to in the previous book. No one knew what Mordaca and Ardaca’s real names were and suddenly because of this chasm they’re suddenly calling each other by their given names in front of others?
To put it mildly, this is only the second book and the series is still (I guess) trying to work out its kinks. Is it just me though, or does the Mari aka Mordaca seem less than the grand Blood Sorceress she’s been portrayed to be in all the other books? No parties, no charging exorbitant amounts of money for complex spells, no hating being up during the day... the list goes on.

Another good read..but..

Okay but losing interest
I’ve always said this series was an in between read ,when you’re waiting for next books to come out. but now I’ve lost interest and I don’t think I’ll read the third unless I’m really bored

there it was again.... too fast, everything too quick. For those that are looking for quick, easy, fast reads and adventure would love this series!
But again, everything was just too fast I wanted more. More story, more struggle, more romance tension and struggle before the big boom.

This is definitely better than the first book. Still fast paced but I don't have much of a problem about that. I'm starting to get bored with the romance though.

Another Short One

Mari and Tarron are coming to a better understanding about one another in this book. More exposure and instances where they have to put their trust in one another is creating a bond which I think is a good development since it is going deeper, beyond desire into something more. For me though, the emotions just aren't there, again it's more talking than showing which is where this one fell a little flat. Yes, there are scenes where they clearly would love to jump one another's bones and have those opportunities but for as much desire they have for one another as explained, it doesn't read that way as much in their actions. Hot kiss here and there followed by conveniently broken up intimate time again and again does not read as the uncontrollable desire that Tarron says he feels for Mari and same for her. I hope this doesn't turn into one of those "I love you" as the magic word the male protagonist expresses to the female protagonist before they can consummate their relationship.
The revelations about Mari's family were interesting, particularly the fate of her Aunt. That was an unexpected twist that I enjoyed immensely and was a little disappointed that Mari was unable to finish the race though the way it ended was more than satisfying. Again this book is too short and it speeds through events rather quicky, including Mari's first interaction with her mother. We're still not privy to her mother's motives other than to get Mari but I doubt it's all that's going on. We get a few sentences worth of information about Mari's father which isn't much and was disappointing. I would actually have expected Mari to want to learn more about the father she shares with her sister instead of her mom but hey, maybe I'm just being too critical. Evil mom versus the unknown in dad, you'd think Mari would want to know who he was.
Tarron consistently leaving his realm for adventures with Mari seems wrong on some levels, perhaps because we don't get a glimpse into his world as much as we do Mari's. His desire to rule aside, the responsibility of the kingdom is on his shoulders so I would have thought he'd be more on top of keeping his world together.
The cast of characters is widening but is easy to keep up with, probably because I recognize some of the names from another series I read by this author. The battles Mari and Tarron face are realistic but again I don't really feel the tension, trepidation, close call, panicky situations as much as we're told about them.
I did like the book overall but not as much as the first. Looking forward to seeing what's in store in the next one.

The problem was how predictible it became. It was said what was going to happen in the text and then we had to stay through its the unfolding.
If the character said "we are to slay the dragon queen" (just a made up example) the reader had to wait until she went to the queen, had some meaningless discussion with other side characters, pass some trials, then arriving at the queen and then having a fight that just seemed with no end.
The pattern was repeated in different parts throughout the novel.
It shows how uncertain the plot is and how the creator had to develop it while writing. It doesn't seem to have been planed ahead or at least seriously revised after being finished.
Otherwise, the king of the fae and his relationship with the protagonist were so very blatantly childish. Could they be more angsty and pitiful? It was like watching kids in the sand box playing of marriage.
He was there to save her when she fell into trouble (which was ALL the time), but he would not recognize having feeling for her (he didn't say that, the character continuously and relentlessly pushed that idea before us) nor would he stop being creepy, watching her from aside with dubious lustily eyes. I mean, c'mon!
Like any review, this is the take of one person on the subject so you know, don't lean on it too hard. Read the book to see for yourself.

Be careful what you wish for!
A routine night of Demon hunting goes horribly wrong for Mari. Expecting one demon and a different one shows up. Mari is fighting the demon and her magic goes haywire and a great chasm appears in the middle of the road on the west side of Dark Lane.
Mari returns home to go to the Council and find out what to do. She is told only someone with strong earth magic can seal the chasm, meaning she needs to find Tarron.
Tarron agrees to help so that he can find out who was behind the breach into The Seelie Court.
Mari has to confront her Aunt and get to the Unseelie Court to get her magic under control so that she can find out how to close the Ever growing chasm before Dark Lane is swallowed up.
I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens next.

First off, I was disappointed with the first book's ending. It felt rushed and unfinished. However, this one was much better so I'm going to keep reading this serious and continue to explore Hall's other series/books as well. Heir of the Fae definitely kept my attention throughout the book. From the trials to Mari's magic being tested in the Unseelie pool. And then ending with the battle on the street. You had all of that while Mari's and Tarron's chemistry and heat continue to grow as it continuously gets tested as well.
One quirky odd thing I noticed is these magic people never have to go to the bathroom. They eat and sleep but dont use the bathroom. (Haha!) Mari and Tarron did the Unseelie Realm adventure and immediately went to fight the battle at the crevasse. Maybe the fae and supernatural get off lucky! I knew I always wanted to be fae 😂

Out of all the books I’ve read by this author, this series is probably my favorite. I just love Mari, and I love Tarron; he’s a perfect fit for her. On this adventure, Mari needs his help for something happening in her neck of the woods, and she doesn’t know if he’ll help in light of the secret he learned about her. But he does, and they team up to confront her past and learn more about her magic before it’s too late for them all. Action and romance make up this great second book in Mari’s series, and I loved every page from start to finish. I can’t wait to see more of this great couple, and I think you’ll love this. I highly recommend this book! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

Still hiding the truth about the darkness around and wary about the Seelie king, Mari had to make her way to fix her mistakes. Tarron was doubtful despite his strong feelings for Mari but he was intended to know the truth and get revenge. Mari was between a rock and a hard place. She wanted to know what was threatening them all but, finding the truth was becoming a nightmare for her. Powers to control and much to learn. Would she had time and strength to control her powers and fight the dark queen? And her impossible fated mate, would there be a tomorrow for them? Liked how Mari and Tarron were struggling with their feelings. Kept me expecting a move. Action, adventure, magic, lot of demons and scary creatures, an amusing and very timely pet, magic and a little passion.

Heir of the Fae is the second book in Mordaca's story and wow talk about action, adventure and excitement!!!
Mari is truly coming into her magic even if she doesn't want to, she also has a fated mate she's not sure she wants and omg she finds out her mother is all kinds of horrible evil...
Mari and Tarron are like star-crossed lovers of the absolute worst kind...lol I'm guessing fated mates are not always meant to be and while these two feel the magnetic pull and physical attraction I'm not sure it's enough if there's no trust between them and Tarron definitely doesn't trust Mari, he might remember he's not perfect himself...
I am really excited to see where this series is going...

3 & 1/2 stars rounded up.
This was an ok read. The flow was decent, though a few places dragged a bit. I wasn't sure if I would read book 2 or not, book 1 had me on the fence with the main characters. Book 2 was about the same as book 1, the main characters are still off-putting for me. I just really never got where I was rooting for them, either to get past the trials & tribulations they had to go thru in the story or to get an HEA as a couple. I'm just not interested in continuing with the series at this point.

To hell and back our adventurers go (figuritely at least) in search of answers and secrets. There was plenty of action and moments of self discovery along the way. Tarron and Mari are fighting fate as well as the demons so the winner may get way more than the bargained for. I am loving her new power, how cool would that be to have in a battle. If only we could have three wishes, oops that is a different story altogether. Fun read and I am enjoying this series.

Give it up
So Tarron is rather frustrating in this book. Mari is too really if truth be told. However, the background information you get on Aeri and Mari is so good and much needed. I love the world building in this part of the story as we get a glimpse of the Unseelie world and Grimrealm. A little more character building on some of the supporting characters is there but I would like to see more of that. This is the most emotional book so far. Can't wait for the next book.

2nd book in the series, enjoyed it as much as the first. We find out more about the main Characters. Of course always love a good romance brewing. Strong female.

Another good read.
I loved reading this book. Its very well written,with plot twists and character development that was crucial and well done. Looking forward to book 3.
