I am the true Unseelie Queen. And it will kill me.
I have a knack for getting myself into some bad situations. What can I say--I like to live dangerously. But waking up partially dead in the Court of Death takes the cake. It’s small consolation that my fated mate Tarron is at my side, since it means that he’s mostly dead too. Worse, I might love him but don't know if he feels the same.
To make matters worse, the false queen who plans to destroy both our kingdoms is still alive and regaining her strength. We must work together to return from the dead and stop her from killing thousands—including my sister.
Escaping the Court of Death means completing a series of dangerous challenges. When we learn that only one of us can return to earth, true escape becomes impossible.

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.
Well this book honestly could not come quickly enough for this reader after the cliff hanger ending of the last book. Leaving the couple dead or as near as was a humdinger of an ending and I'm not sure if I like how this one ends but obviously spoilers so shutting my metaphysical mouth here. What I can say is the couple face challenges yet again as they meet creepy dead Fae but best of all they finally say those three little words that my romantic heart was waiting for. The highlight for me though was the zombie strip club as obviously taking things off never before included limbs ! Sadly at times I didn't quite get the strong, amazing Mari I love because strangely she seemed vacuous and vain thinking about her make up and what others were wearing. Please bring back sassy, swaggering Mari for the next instalment because she's awesome and we all need her to finally kick her mother's butt ! This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair.
I know that when I read a book by this author, I will get a rip-roaring good time. Her books are filled with non-stop action, adventure, and a little romance. This fourth book in the Dragon's Gift: The Dark Fae series is no different. Mari and Tarron got into a bit of trouble at the end of the last book, and now they must get back to the battle of ridding the world of her mother. While this series is my favorite of all the series so far, this book was my least favorite of the series. Don’t get me wrong; I loved the book, just not as much as previous ones in the series. I think it’s because I didn’t feel Mari was quite her tough self, and I missed that. However, I still love this series, and I do recommend this book! I was provided a copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Mari and Tarron woke up in some white world. Bridgit, the Celtic goddess came to tell them that they were in a way point, that they were not 100% dead yet and still could get out because Mari tried to put Tarron's magic back inside him. Mari also died because she was the true queen of the unseelie and her mother was only an impostor. However, their magic didn't work in that world and when they were attacked by reapers, Tarron couldn't heal her wound. They barely escaped by jumping straight to the river and after some time wandering, hey found Aethelred's house. Mari panicked because she thought he died, but turned out it was only a weak point between realms and Aethelred was still alive and could communicate with her. Mari told him to call for Aerdeca and she immediately came. She was in panic because people saw them die, but she was relieved to see Mari.
Mari asked for Aethelred's help to see where her mother was. Together, a vision of her mother came to him. She was still healing and planned to launch another attack so she could rule both seelie and unseelie before Mari got out of the Court of Death, an afterlife for faes with unfinished business. Then she asked him how to go out of the Court of Death, and a vision showed them that she had to find the king and queen of these court and convince them. However, only one of them could go out. So they went to the Court of Death's palace, found the royalties, and tried to convince them to let them out by saying that if they didn't, thousands would die, overflowing that place and if they didn't have place, their soul could be hunt by monsters outside their barrier and lost forever.
The queen said that if they wanted to go out, they had to found their magic back, found the resurrection stone, and heal Mari's wound from the reaper before they crossed over. Furthermore, the queen only allowed one of them to leave because she doubted they would succeed anyway. First, the sent them to the isle of forgotten soul, where they retrieved the heart of some oak tree to heal their injuries and poison. They were allowed to rest for the night and Mari tried to contact Aerdeca, who was spying on the Unseelie. But because she distracted Aeri, she and Dechlan got captured, so Mari immediately contacted Claire to find her sister. Then they had to get their body back by going back to the time where they died. There, she saw Claire using some weird magic which injured the false queen rather badly. However, the false queen now somehow returned got even stronger.
Once they got the body, they were sent two days in the future where they had to retrieve Aranthian Crystals in exchange for the resurrection stone from the Dark Necromancer in the Vault. They only had 2 hours to retrieve the crystal but they couldn't offer anything that she wanted so she threw them to the pit and told them to fight to the death. They faked it and baited her until Mari managed to shoot her with her own power. They managed to escape and got two of the crystals, right when they were summoned back to the Court of Death. The queen was glad they got two crystals but she only had one stone and she gave it to Mari.
Mari refused to leave so she used her amplifying power so the stone could carry Tarron too, but the queen got furious because she only want one of them to leave. Furthermore, Mari's power was blocked so she needed a place where the barrier was weaker. They knocked the king and queen of the Court of Death out and managed to escape with the help of the stags but outside the court, they were chased by the reaper's boss, Ankou, who wanted to get their souls for himself. They managed to slow him down so they reached Aethelred's house and teleported back to the world of the living. They hurried to meet with Connor, Claire, and the Firesouls to rescue Aerdeca. They found Aeri and Dechlan, was trying to find the key to open her cell when the false queen appeared and knocked them up.
Mari woke up with their hands bounded to a chair with Aeri and Dechlan with them (stupid and totally didn't make any sense). Mari appeared in the others' mind and told them to wake up while Tarron burned their bindings with fire. They released their bound right when the false queen and her guards came in. There was (as usual) some fightings, Mari threw one of the crystal (that turned out could freeze a person's magic) at the queen so they could prepare the portal and they almost teleported away when the queen got free blasted Mari with some curse, but Tarron took the blast and went unconscious. After they got to relative safety, Mari tried to wake him up but when he opened his eyes, it was no longer green, but black and gold, like the false queen's magic, and he tried to kill her.

Another Great Addition To This Exciting & Action Packed Series!!🌁👻😳👑😡😭🙏💘🔥💥 (Read using Kindle Unlimited) Spirit of the Fae: Dragon’s Gift (The Dark Fae Book #4)
Mari & Tarron are in some sort of spirit realm throughout much of this book!😳 They can't touch as they aren't fully corporeal👻😭 They can still die properly though so are desperately trying to find a way back home & to come back fully alive again!!🙏🍀 Things aren't going well regarding the Evil Unseelie Queen. After recovering from the fight in the Seelie Realm her power has grown even greater!!😱😡 Mari & Tarron, however, have zero magic in the spirit realm, so they need to find & reclaim it asap!😕🙏
This book has lots of scares for our couple!😳 I didn't enjoy quite as much as the other 3 but it's still really good!👍🌟
This book picks up right where the last left off. With Mordaca and Tarron dead... or sorta dead really. This is a story of overcoming fears and perseverance. You begin to see into Mari and Tarron even more as the story develops, of course Mordaca won’t have you thinking she is anything but the ice queen with a tough rep to uphold. I thought this was full of action, heartache and thrill. With the book ending in a cliffhanger (grr) I can’t wait for the next one to see how they get out of the next scrape!
An exciting side adventure with much needed clues before the final chapter. With more then one life altering problem I want to know if Mari will finally create some magic
While Mari Tarron work to get out of the realm of the Dead everyone else is working to find an entrance into the unsealy realm to rescue Arie
After the battle Mari tries to prevent Tarron from dying. But they both end up in the realm of in between where they're neither dead nor alive. They have to survive many challenges there in order to earn the resurrection stone so to even get back to life, and these challenges are deadly where they could end up permanently dead. The king and queen of the realm are surprised when they win each challenge and not very well pleased either. They offer them temporary life if they'll go and get some powerful stones for the king and queen and the enchantment controls how long they will have to do this on Earth before they're brought back to the kingdom inbetween. They succeed beyond The King and Queens ability to comprehend but the king and queen are greedy and only want to give one life and not both. So Mari and Tarron flee to the Seers house where the veil is thin between the realms. There they chant the spell and it works for both of them and they appear back on Earth alive and well tired but jubilant.
Mordaca and Tarron are fighting for their lives literally and spiritually. They have overcome so much and their bond has been strengthened by their loyalty to each other. Mordaca refuses to give up and I love her all or nothing approach, she refuses to be told what to do and nobody is left behind. The war with her mother is heartbreaking but she is a warrior and she will come back stronger to protect the people she loves. Tarron has developed into her erfext mate and they understand each other now. The other characters in the books are great and Thorn the wolf is still one of my favourites, appearing when he is needed most.
It was a nice read but it felt like a filler. And although they went through so much in this book, the end just didn't do it for me. It was so much of an unrealistic scenario. Queen B is just a super villain without a purpose. I mean, she doesn't even know why she goes to war, just for the sake of it. She's evil and that's what evil bitches do, they want to rule all. And her supreme powers that 5 mega powerful individuals that had their own books and were so bad ass just can't match. I will read the last book because I'm invested now. But I was expecting a lot more from this series.
Spirit of the fae feels a bit like a a sequel that wasn’t necessarily needed. The big questions are still hanging, how is Mari the true heir? What does that mean for the sisters? What does that mean for her future with Tarron? What happened that her mother because a false queen? So many good questions that were in place since book two and unanswered. Still. But I still had fun just no closure. The best books are satisfying but I’ll still give this installment four stars as I am enjoying the series. Now on to answers.
As always Linsey Hall grabs your from the first chapter! I was drawn into the book as if pulled by a gravity itself. Like all her novels putting the book down was so difficult! The intricate weave created by the author is breathtaking. It brought danger, romance, excitement, suspense, and some shocking twists and turns that left my mind seeking more! If you enjoy reading, Linsey Hall universe is a must have for your collection
I saw Tricia o'malley (author) was reading this series on Facebook so I thought I'd give it ago. As soon as I started I remembered I'd already read the series about Claire I can't remember the name of it, but id loved it.
This series is also a winner, I'm completely hooked. Great escapism.
I really enjoyed this book and the tales of Celtic monsters. I enjoyed the quests Mordaca and Tarron faced in the land of the dead, as well as the trials they faced in the land of the living. One thing I really enjoy about this series is that so much of the background and setting are taken from history. I love seeing the historical elements coming alive.
I think there are some bits of the story that are a little boring/repetitive, but the plot as with all of the previous books in the series is great. The ending of this one was exceptional because of the cliffhanger moment at the end. I am looking forward to reading the final installment of the series.
I do like these books they are easy reading but need to read in order as they are not stand alone I find the writing style easy to read, very much for sitting in the sun to read
EIGHTH SERIES - DRAGON'S GIFT: THE DARK FAE (Mordaca) 1. Trial by Fae 2. Heir of the Fae 3. Queen of the Fae 4. Spirit of the Fae 5. Rise of the Fae
As with her other books Ms Hall does not disappoint. Thrilling adventure that you can’t figure out ahead of time. Love the story line will definitely read more of her books. Debbie
Mari and Tarron find themselves in a bit of a bind after they mostly died. A series of trials, sketchy royalty, and a mother that would give anyone nightmares how could things get worse?
I enjoy Lindsey Hall's writing and especially her Guild City series. I like this series also, but feel that it is dragging on a bit too long. I will go to the next (and last) book to see how the story wraps up.
I know there's only one more book left to read, and this book has definitely delivered a lot of turmoil for me. These characters are going to live forever in my heart.
This was a great book! I'm not sure how this evil lady always seems to be one step ahead! It's making me a bit crazy honestly. I'm hoping the next book is the last because they really need to take this gal out.
I always find Linsey Hall's books to be intriguing and enjoyable. Every now and then, one is particularly good, but I always know I'm going to enjoy the book. Some stand out more than others, but in general, they are fun quick reads.
I love this author! All of her series are very entertaining and quick moving. Great characters that allow you to be absorbed quickly. I will eagerly await her next series and the next and the next.
Logic has left the building. I’ve read author’s other series and liked them. I refuse to waste any more time in this world. Shallow and everything just kept getting more ridiculous.
Absolutely amazing. I couldn't put them down!! I have definitely found my second favorite author which was recommended by my first favorite author Tricia O'Malley.
