Quinton had been a patient at Hathaway House in its first year. When she finally healed enough to move on with her life, she went into law and plowed forward. However, plowing forward may not have been the best answer for her physical injuries. While visiting Stan at the center, she collapses on her way to her brother’s room, as he’s a patient here now. The collapse shows a long-term issue, now an acute problem. After talking to Dani and Shane, Quinton’s booked back into the center on a short-term basis.
Stan hurts for Quinton. She’s an old friend, and he’s watched her progress from his first year in business at Hathaway. He’d always had a crush on her but figured his window of opportunity had passed. Now with her once again as a patient, it feels like a second chance for a personal relationship, one he’s more than willing to take.
Between her brother—who’s not getting along at the center—and Quinton’s own struggles to get back on her feet, thankfully she also has Stan and other old friends around, as Quinton takes the steps necessary to put her life back on track … in all ways.

Although Quinton may have been a patient in the past she was able to recover and move forward with her life. She finds herself returning for a visit with her brother, who is now a patient, but while there she discovers that her recovery has had a setback which is leaving her frustrated both about her situation and her brother’s.
Stan has never forgotten Quinton since her first stay at Hathaway House and he regrets not pursuing her at that time. Now that she is back, he isn’t about to make the same mistake twice but with everything that both she and her brother are going through they certainly had some challenges to overcome.
This is a difficult time for Quinton which adds some turmoil to the relationship she is trying to build with Stan. They both make some mistakes along the way but with patience and understanding eventually love wins out.
I can’t believe it’s book 17 already. Quinton is a lawyer who once needed Hathaway house, years later she is in need again as she collapses after seeing Stan the vet. Stan wants a second chance because he has loved her for so long. But Quinton’s insecurities and past family put downs has her on a destructive path. I loved these two characters. It was so nice that Stan got his happy person back. I did cry in a little of the book and so wanted to call Quinton out for her behaviour. Love this series and can’t wait for the next book.
In the first year of operation, Quinton had been a patient at Hathaway House. Having healed enough to move on with life, she went into law and worked hard to make a lasting career. While visiting Stan at the entre she collapsed on the way to her brother's room as he is now a patient there. The collapse was a result of a long-term issue which has now become acute and so after a discussion with Dani and Shane she is booked into the centre for a short-term stay. Stan considers Quinton an old friend and has always had a crush on her but figured after her original discharge that his chance had gone, but now he feels that he has been given a second chance for a relationship with her - something he intended to make the best use of. Between her brother and Quinton's own struggles, she is grateful that she has Stan and her old friends at Hathaway House. Now she just has to take the steps that she needs to sort everything out.
I enjoyed this story and the second chance that Stan had with Quinton. Quinton had a lot to handle but I did find some of her self-doubts a little annoying - thankfully she got over it. I loved the way that Stan was her head cheerleader and that she gave her brother no room to fail and wallow in self-pity. A lot of concentration is on emotions and their effect on your physical health. Easy to read and feel, it was dramatic in places but that was necessary and gave a final positive result. I did find the result at the end to be a bit desperate and it was just as well that she gave a positive answer.

The Hathaway House books concentrate on the main characters’ complicated problems and their ability to adapt to a life, and a body, that is no longer perfect. In this story, Quinton must learn to deal with this new bump in her long road to normality.
Quinton had gone through Hathaway House’s program many years ago. Since then, she has been living a “normal” life as a corporate lawyer.
Now Quinton’s brother lives in Hathaway House where he is taking part in their rehab program. While visiting her brother, Quinton collapses and cannot get back up. It seems that she has been experiencing pain lately, but has ignored them.
According to Dani and Shane, Quinton needs to return to the Hathaway House for a few weeks to undergo some more rehab. She has large blisters on her stump, which she must return to using a wheelchair until it heals. But, worst of all, the alignment on her prosthetic leg is “off.” This has “slowly put her own alignment out of whack.” Now she has to relearn how to walk correctly.
All of this has seriously affected Quinton’s self-esteem. She feels depressed and stressed out because she sees her relapse as a sign of failure.
Quinton is excited to spend time with her good friend, Stan. She is unaware that Sam has always loved her. However, he never got the chance to tell her. Now, he thinks that Quinton’s stay at The House is a second chance to reveal his feelings to her. Unfortunately, his timing is way off. Quinton has too many of her own personal problems to be able to handle Stan’s feelings at this time.
Each time I read a book in this series, I admire and respect the military men and women even more.
This is the seventeenth standalone book in Dale Mayer's brilliant "Hathaway House" series but I never tire of reading them and catching up with all the wonderful characters at Hathaway House. Lawyer Quinton had been a patient at Hathaway House rehabilitation centre eight years previously, she had sustained life changing injuries whilst serving in the military, she loved dropping in to visit Dani the founder and all the rest of the staff but mostly Stan, the vet, who had his surgery downstairs. Things weren't going well for Quinton, she was in pain and her prosthetic leg was causing blisters, to make matters worse, her brother Ryatt was now a patient at Hathaway House and her usually loving brother hadn't settled well, he was making the lives of everyone trying to help him miserable, he was creating an atmosphere that was alien to Hathaway House.. Whilst on a visit, Quinton collapsed and was forced against her wishes, to be admitted. This story is an emotional roller coaster, Stan has been in love with Quinton since her first admission but he never let her know his feelings and now he had another chance but he had to let her fight her own emotional demons and insecurities, could his heart take the knockbacks ? Could Hathaway House work it's magic once more ? Would Ryatt finally find that life is worth living ? This is a beautifully told, gentle love story that pulls at the heart strings, I now look forward to reading Ryatt's story.

This is book seventeen in A Hathaway House Heart warming Romance Series and it is Quinton and Stan's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Quinton was in the military but when she had life changing injuries she spent time at Hathaway House to recover and then she moved on with her life and became a lawyer and now her brother is there but he is not settling very well and making life difficult for the staff so she goes to visit him only the worst thing possible happens as Quinton collapsed and was booked back in to Hathaway House but she was struggling as all she wanted to do was get on with her life. Stan is a vet and has his clinic at Hathaway House and also a friend to Quinton but he was also in love with her and had been for a long time but the timing just wasn't right but now he hopes that this will be his chance to prove to her how he feels and that he wants forever with her but can he convince Quinton that she deserved everything and he wants to help her move forward after her knock back but will she feel the same way only time will tell what the outcome will be for them. This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and I couldn't put it down and had to keep turning the pages wondering what would happen next and it was so addictive with great characters and a storyline that pulled you in and kept your attention throughout and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Another great Hathaway House story. This time the reader finds out about the history Quinton has with Stan the Veterinarian. The animal surgery has existed from the very beginning when the Major and Dani first started. The place would be for the healing of military personnel and animals, large and small. In previous books the animals would be therapy for patients and staff. Some patients would help out in the welfare of the animals. Some came just to comfort them with a cuddle. There were two instances of that in this book. Stan brought up Hoppers, a large rabbit. Going from room to room, presenting patients with an opportunity to reach out for some therapy contact. Later Stan has a ferret who has had surgery. Stan was walking around with “Fuzz”. A group of people saw them and started a conversation going. To their surprise Fuzz leaped across onto a guy’s shoulder. The rest of the crowd came across and gave the ferret attention. Stan remarked how the care and attention had boosted Fuzz. I enjoy the meetings with some of the regulars. Shane is such a main part as the physiotherapist. Dani is of course the Boss, and aware of what is going on in all areas. Dennis does not just help people get their meals and snacks. Dennis also makes sure they are getting the nutrition that will help their body to heal. Going to be interesting whom Dale Mayer has in mind for Dennis when it is his turn for a relationship.
Quinton is a now corporate attorney and stops by Hathaway House to have Stan sign some documents. She knows Stan and the others from her own time at Hathaway House years ago. Stan always wanted to get to know her better, but the timing never seemed right.
Her brother Ryatt is now a patient here and he's having issue adjusting, at least she hopes that's all it is. She stops by to see Dani before heading to see him, but before she gets very far, she collapses in pain.
Dani calls for assistance and with Shane's help gets Quinton settled in a room. She doesn't want to stay but there's really no choice.
Her brother comes to see her, and she reassures him she'll be fine. She does question whether or not he wants to be there. His attitude is affecting everyone trying to help him. He tries to divert her attention back to herself, but she refuses his help with her prosthetic and his offer to find Shane to help.
It's Stan who comes to check on her and runs off to find Shane.
When Quinton realizes what's gone wrong, she knows she'll need to stay until things are right again. However, her bosses aren't quite so understanding.
Stan uses this time to try to get closer to her and they both seem to have issues getting it right.
This is yet another heartwarming story, with struggles to find their way to both health and happiness.
Although this is a fairly slow-moving book, it nevertheless brings out the importance of treating the whole person rather than just the physical ailment. Quinton has been through rehabilitation and has moved on with her life. However, her busy lifestyle is interfering with her well-being, and old war injuries are once again plaguing her, thereby creating new ones. Added to this there is the problem of her brother who is not taking to being cooped up and in treatment for his injuries and who is taking his anger out on everyone around him. When Quinton collapses on her way to see her brother, the staff of Hathaway House immediately readmits her, and Quinton realizes that she has to learn some hard new lessons. Stan has been working with the clinic for some time and when Quinton becomes a patient once again, he is hurt and surprised when she lashes out at him in much the same way as her brother is taking umbrage at the world. It takes a whole team of people to help the siblings see that the process of healing encompasses the whole person. The novel does come to a good conclusion and Stan's patience is rewarded. I received a copy of this novel through BookSprout as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I understood that Quinton was a return patient. I appreciated that because it added realism to the story. It just proves that sometimes the same issues we thought were resolved rear their ugly heads again.
The thing I was not sure about was if Quinton and Stan appeared in a previous book. This book gave me a continuation vibe. Stan and Quinton had that type of discussion, but it made me feel like there was a book I should have read before I delved into their story.
When Quinton met with Dr. Wagner and some truths were revealed, I thought for sure she would have a certain conversation with her brother, but it never happened. That surprised me.
Another thing that was surprising was what happened by the pool. Another unexpected thing that seemed to come out of nowhere. Talk about taking leaps and bounds.
I would give this book 3.5 stars. It is a sweet romance that intertwined some very realistic struggles. It also gave a strong sense of love, support, family, friendship, positivity, and inner strength. Not to mention the HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout.
Stan finally gets his story! He has always been in the basement (background) taking care of the animals in his care while various patients and staff find love.
I enjoyed a story where a previous patient needs to return to Hathaway House for additional treatment. Quinton didn’t plan on returning to Hathaway House as a patient, instead, she was there for business reasons, but her current health issue makes it a necessity to stay. Enter Stan, who has had feelings for Quinton since she was a patient the first time. Quinton is again a patient, but her brother, Ryatt is also there as a patient and being a very difficult one at that.
A complicated scenario where there is a family dynamic with lots of drama, past feelings coming to the present, and a lawyer who is putting her job ahead of her health or one would say, she’s in denial of her real health condition.
Stan has staying power, patience and rides out Quinton’s journey to realize her past and present situation. I love the second chance romance for Stan & Quinton and have high hopes for Ryatt. Now I wonder if the ever helpful Dennis will ever find his own true love!
What a wonderful surprise to have a former patient come back to Hathaway house. This is her story and Stan the Vet. I like the fact that Dale touched on relapses for the physically handicapped, wounded vets. It brings reality into the series. It was done in a compassionate but realistic manner. As real as you can get considering there are no true Hathaway Houses, which we so desperately need. Quinton is back at Hathaway House to get some documents signed and stops in to see the Vet, Stan. They have been friends. While there she talks about her brother Ryker who is a new patient and is giving everyone trouble. She stops in to see Dani and when she turns to go she collapses. One of the reason for the collapse which comes to light, really clicked some boxes for me in helping me to understand. This is a sweet romance, which also brings in family dynamics and individuals own fears and self doubts. Well done. Thank you for the arc #dalemayer #booksprout I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
I really enjoyed this, it was great to actually have a return patient, because I had felt that maybe at some stage there would be a time when they would need a re-tune. Injuries like these don't go away and while at first, after treatment and release all's good and therapy and excerise is kept up, over time and life it would naturally lapse to some degree or other issues would crop up. Seeing different doctors or physio would not always work, so this story is a progression, 8 years after initial treatment. I loved that Quinton struggled a bit to accept a second chance at help and a second chance with Stan, it wouldn't have been easy to feel you are right back where you started but I'm glad it all worked out. I'm also pleased we will hopefully get a little more of this couple in the next book as it's her brother. It's an emotional read at times, my heart broke a bit for Stan but wonderfully it all sorts itself out in the end. I love this magical and inspirational place.
While this was part of a series, I didn't feel too lost in the previous characters and relationships. It was easy to read as a stand alone.
This book was not just an easy romance between two people but also a period of growth for Quinton as she had some major issues based on her past. She kept feeling like she couldn't take a spot at Hathaway House as someone else could have been taking her spot. This got annoying to me after the third or fourth time and was glad when her thinking started to change.
She also had major issues with her brother that I had wished might get better resolved but maybe that will be in the next book that focuses on her brother, Ryatt.
This was not a hot and steamy with bedroom scenes book so it was a nice change for me as we see Stan and Quinton work through their issues and grow closer and closer. Nice HEA.

Quinton by Dale Mayer Hathaway House Series Book Seventeen Quinton Metzner had been one of the first patients in Hathaway House. Now, eight years later, she is back. She struggles with the weakness of having pain and feeling like she’s back where she began, especially since her brother is here and not a very happy camper. Stan Herzog, the veterinarian, was happy to see Quinton. He’d fallen for her the first time he saw her and thought he’d lost his chance. He was busy starting the clinic eight years ago. She was busy healing. He hoped to make the best of the time he had now. And hoped that she felt the same way he did. Love the Hathaway House series. A nice sweet series. The patients and employees at Hathaway are unique, and healing comes from all areas. Physical, mental, good food, etc. Loved seeing Stan find his happily-ever-after. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
3.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐💫 QUINTON is a sweet, clean romance with affirming messages throughout, which adds a touch of emotional depth to the story. For me, this is what made it a more interesting tale. I may have been at a disadvantage since I have not read the other books in this series, but with no real back story, it did take me a while to connect with the characters. In addition, the pace is slow at the beginning, picking up about halfway through, making it a more engaging read. I did feel the ending was a little off. I won’t say specifically why because I don’t want to give any spoilers, but suffice it to say, Stan and Quinton’s relationship takes a huge turn that is a bit hard to believe at that point in time. Overall, I did enjoy reading their story and my interest in reading more in the series has definitely been tweaked.
Quinton is now a lawyer, however, she was a patient at Hathaway House during their first year in service. She is visiting now as a lawyer and including her friend Stan (Veterinarian at Hathaway) in her visit. She wasn't counting on collapsing and needing Hathaway in more ways than one. To complicate matters, her brother Ryatt is a patient at Hathaway and not a pleasant patient either. He is having trouble adjusting to everything that has happened to him and lashing out. This story contains so many lessons in life whether you are a injured vet in need of help or just anyone trying to live life the best you can. "Heartwarming" is such a perfect term and I can't think of a better one to describe this fantastic book. Can't wait to read Ryatt's story in the next book!.

On Quinton's recommendation, her brother Ryatt has been admitted to Hathaway House. Quinton had been a patient there eight years ago. After enjoying a quick visit with Stan and getting some paperwork signed by him, Quinton plans to visit her brother. When Quinton unexpectedly collapses in pain, she is admitted to the rehab center. Stan is hoping that their friendship can blossom into romance, but Quinton is struggling. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. I like this story of healing both physically and emotionally. I also like the twist that the stress and time involved in her work life contributed to her return to rehab. It also illustrates that women also can be wounded warriors.
This is a wonderful addition to the Hathaway House series, well-written and filled with plenty of drama and emotion. Quinton is at Hathaway House to visit Dani and the team when she has an episode and needs to stay for tests and recovery. Quinton is a return patient and she battles with having to stay at Hathaway House again. She meet Stan, the resident vet downstairs when she was there previously and they hit it off, nothing ever became of their friendship. Now, Stan makes his feelings for Quinton known and even though they have some ups and down, I'm so happy to see they managed to work out their problems.. I can't wait to read Quinton's brothers story next.
Lawyer and ex-patient Quinton Metzner has returned to Hathaway House, a rehabilitation center to see in-house veterinarian Stan Herzog. While there, she decides to visit her brother Ryatt who was injured while serving his country. Before she can get to his room, she collapses in pain and is once again admitted. Working as a lawyer and neglecting to take care of her own injuries, she is now in need of a lot of therapy. Stan fell in love with her when she was here eight years ago and has only seen her when she would periodically come to visit. Now that she is here full time, these two are doing some soul searching to find their way back to each other.

This beautiful story will draw you in an you will feel the heartache oh f some of the characters.Quinton decided to go to Hathaway house to get Stan to sign some papers then she wants to say hi to Dani, try an talk to Shane about severe pain she's going through. After that go see her brother an tel Him if he wants to be an asset the people that can help him no one says he has to stay. What she never e prayed was to fall in Danish office an end up back in Hathaway house it's changed slot she was there the first year. There are so many twists an turns to this story you will be riveted until the very last page.Your heart will feel for our wounded men an women that made the sacrifices for our freedom.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.
Quinton wasn’t just physically hurting she was mentally not ok and had to accept that she needed and deserved help. She acted like her employer wouldn’t understand that she needed medical leave, but there are laws that protect her from being fired over that especially with her disability. She also shouldn’t have assumed the financial burdens of her brother and uncle. As a result of all of this she pushes Stan away when he finally gets the courage to tell her he wants to be more than friends. I loved that Stan had so many therapy animals to work with. The giant bunny with the missing leg was the best because I’m sure so many of the patients could relate to his struggles. Hathaway House sounds like a wonderful place to heal with plenty of supportive staff.
If you have been reading the Hathaway House series for a while then you will definitely know big hearted veterinarian Stan the man that uses therapy animals and actually rescued injured animals for that job. Noe he gets his story
Years earlier he fell for one of the first patients at the house but never made his move and he feels that he has lost his chance but now Quinton has returned her brother is aa current patient and it isn't going well so she has visited to try to ease his way. What actually happens is that this lawyer has been pushing herself to hard and now she is a patient at Hathaway yet again Can Stan let her know how he feels this time and can they build a future you will have to read to see
Quinton is back at Hathaway house to see her brother and pop in to see her friend, Stan. She sees Dani, gets up awkwardly and ends up on the floor. She's persuaded to stay overnight and to be assessed. Seems she's been so busy working she hasn't been looking after herself. She needs to stay for at least three weeks, but she feels guilty for taking up a bed again. Stan is happy as he wants a second chance. Can they communicate better? Can Quinton relax and not work so hard?

Quinton is a former patient at Hathaway House and has become a lawyer and is moving on with her life. She goes to have paperwork signed and to see Stan. When going to her brother's room she collapses and becomes a patient again but feels she shouldn't have a second chance. Her brother is not fitting in well, her leg is killing her, and she doesn't know what to do about Stan should they be friends or can they be more. Can we have second chances in life Quinton will find out. Quick read with heartache, laughter and leaning to take the journey of life together and knowing everyone needs a second chance sometimes.
Stan, the resident vet at Hathaway House finally gets his chance to be with the woman he has been in love with for years. Quinton was a patient years ago and has kept in touch with Stan as his lawyer, now she’s back after issues with her alignment and prosthetic are off. Now Stan will get more chances to be with her now that she’s back and hopefully she reciprocates his feelings. A good read with good characters. I wasn’t a fan of Quinton’s till near the end and throughout the read I was cheering for Stan, he was kind, compassionate and loyal. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I really enjoyed this second chance romance book. Quinton is a lawyer and represents Stan, who owns a rehab center. Quinton stayed at the facility when it first opened. After a visit there, she ends up staying there again for some acute treatment. Stan sees his chance. He originally thought that he had lost his chance with Quinton, but decides to act on his opportunity now. This book was full of ups and downs, but luckily everything turns out well in the end. I enjoyed their journey together.

Eight years ago, Quinton was in Hathaway House for physical therapy to get her back in shape for life after she lost a lower leg and her spleen and damaged various body parts due to an incident while on active duty. While there, Quinton befriends many of the people working there, including Stan, the veterinarian in the basement. Now she is back in need of some adjustment. This story is full of life, laughter, heartache, and the beginnings of romance, leading to a HEA and ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

Quinton trying to get the same treatment experience she had for her brother but it looks like hot working so she decides to go visit him at Hathaway House but is in for a rude shock as her own old injuries comes to the forefront and she finds herself back as a patient there. Stan missed his chance the first with Quinton so he is still here to support her in all ways. During her second treatment, Quinton faces her feeling for Stan and has to make decisions on what she wants in life. Both work and relationships areas. A lovely love story that keeps you turning the pages.
Quinton returns to Hathaway House to visit her brother and finds herself needing treatment. She feels unworthy to deserve a second chance. Stan the resident Vet is thrilled to see her back, he wants more from their friendship. She and her brother are both rather self destructive, here's hoping counselling can help them both. Quinton and Stan made a lovely couple, I loved watching their journey through the highs and lows. This is such a fabulous, heart warming series. I can't wait for the next one.
