Independent reviewer for Gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 2 in the Hart Consulting series, and I strongly recommend you read book one, Sweet Hart, before this one. If only to find out what happens when Bray goes after Sam!
I said in my review for Sweet Hart that I had questions: questions that were not fully answered, nor indeed ASKED in my book brain in that book. I stand by that, and raise you MORE questions! So many more questions! I can voice a few, but not going to voice them here, for spoilers! But hopefully, at some point, I will get my questions and answers all lined up nicely!
It is a busy book, again, with a huge supporting cast, some new ones thrown in here, I think! I had to concentrate to keep up and a couple of points, I kinda glazed over. Maybe I was concentrating too hard, I dunno, I just spaced out and had read a few pages that came back to me later in the book. Odd feeling, to be honest!
But anyway! Steamy, heavy on the smexy times, once Ax and Nick finally give in to the attraction between them. But also heavy on the emotions, mostly from Ax. Given what he has had on his shoulders for three years, and what he THEN has to do, it's hardly surprising he's the most emotional of the two, but Lord that man hides it! Nick's emotions are more centred around his big brother, Mase, and how Nick feels about what he now knows about his father and what said father did to Mase and, to a lesser extent, Bray.
But God I NEED Mason's story, like yes-ter-day! With what happens early in this book, those questions I CAN voice are flying around so damn high, I tell ya! Mason and Jazz, that's gonna be a difficult book, especially as we all heard Jazz say what he did. Something bad happened to Jazz, and no one knows, not even Mason.
So, hurry, please, Ms Marks, and write quicker. Write. QUICKER. Write Mason's story QUICKER!!
cos of the spacing out thing, and because I did enjoy it as much as book one,
a solid 4 stars
