Another book that left me wondering about the who's who...Can't wait to read the next one....
Sloan is a bad a** not daddy's girl who wants to do things her way without following the rules on the S.W.A.T. team which just give her senator daddy the excuse he's been looking for to get her on the PEACE team... They are a team of humans who have been tasked with weeding out the bad metahumans (paranormals) as they are called since the veil was lifted.
Sloan is the leader of the Draconis Fire team who thinks humans should be kept out of Paranormal business since they are too weak to withstand an onslaught. Until he meets Sloan that is, and realizes that she is his mate and won't keep put!
Lots of action and passion.

This well-written, short book 1 in The Mates of Draconis Fire Book Series has strong main Characters, engaging world construction and an entertaining story. These characters are exciting, have chemistry, and are well-crafted with unique personalities. I cannot wait to read more in this series. There is drama, tension, danger, and romance. This story has action, adventure, twists/turns, chemistry and love with a HEA that must be worked for. These characters have wonderful personalities that are brought alive by this Author. A must read

So, I'm gonna be completely honest here. I like the premise of the book. I like the idea of the veil and the different agencies. I love that the book is about dragons and I like the idea of both partners being from different sides, coming together to fight crime and for love.
Now the downside. First, the editing of the book was awful. This is something I don't usually talk about in my reviews, but considering this is not a free copy, I would have thought the editing would have been better. There were so many words missing and many words misspelled. There were even places where there was an odd letter sitting in a sentence for no apparent reason. I know that editors are human and they tend to miss some things, but it's usually small things. Second, there were parts of the story that were just crazy. For instance, one of the characters gets killed and the other characters talk about it in multiple chapters. Then, all of a sudden, three chapters later he's alive and helping with a new investigation. Within the same chapter he is both dead and alive. This wasn't a small goof. This was a major thing to miss. We're not talking about his name being mentioned once as being alive. No, he was dead for like three chapters. Then, he was alive again for a chapter. Finally, he's dead again. It really is the kind of thing an editor should have caught.
All-in-all, it was an ok story. If not for those few downers, this could have been a great story. However, due to the things listed above, I had to give it a fairly low rating. I'm gonna give book two a try. Hopefully, the editing is better and the story gaps/inconsistencies will be caught.

I don't like giving bad reviews, but this story is in serious need of an editor. This is the story of Hailey and Sloan, a SWAT member assigned to a supernatural task force and a Dragon shifter. The idea behind the story could have been great, but there were too many errors- someone is dead and then alive again, Daddy is in the title but they don't actually get pregnant. For 90% of the book Hailey is a badass, but then mating apparently turns her into a bubble headed teenage girl. We don't actually get any answers to the problem, and the climatic situation was very early and lackluster. I was expecting another climatic scene and then all of the sudden the book is over.
It is a quick, one day read, but other than that....it needs work.

not what I was hoping
It started good with high paced action but went down hill.
Hailey is abrasive and her attitude is one I couldn’t get into. I liked how she took on metahumans and Brawn.
I’d give this a 3 if the typos and plot points were fixed. It needs a good read through again. Misspelled character names throughout and a character dies in the middle of the book but is miraculously alive and in meetings at the end.

Absolutely Awesome Read, beautifully written, great characters, Awesome story line, easy read to hold you on their journey, this genre might not be for everyone, but it’s a really wonderful story cannot wait for more from this Author.
