When the surviving crew and passengers of the Assured find a way out of the Kh'het star system, they believe it's the beginning of the long journey home to the Confederation.
But a new and rising power stands in the way of their escape.
Some will face the question: are they prepared to die fighting it? While others must decide: if they flee to warn the Confederation, what are they prepared to sacrifice ... and who?
War is politics by other means, and vice versa. Words that never should have been forgotten when dealing with the Xerxians. Treachery, lies and double-dealing are their mother's milk. But Chris Gregory and company are quick to learn the ropes and there will be an accounting.
"The Stars Remain," like its two previous installments, brings fresh characters, awesome combat and new perspective to the realm of space warfare. Wholeheartedly recommended to one and all.
An excellent conclusion to an excellent series. The finale manages to maintain that great sense of gallows humor perfect for military scifi while at the same time providing a satisfying conclusion to the story.
Additionally the short story included at the end is also excellent.
