Answer Song

Rate this book
Answer Song, David Trinidad's newest volume of poetry, continues his exploration of popular American cultural themes. Whether chronicling 60's sitcoms and breakfast cereals, or deconstructing Jacqueline Susann's Valley of the Dolls and the murder of actress Sharon Tate at the hands of Charles Manson's "family," Trinidad juxtaposes the condition of the culture with the emotional lives of both his characters and himself. In poignant prose and poems, Trinidad unmasks the fears and darkness that haunt so many suburban lives. "Trinidad fills this book with poetry that's exquisitely personal, reinvestigating his relationship with his family, his sexuality, and the cultural obsessions he has made his own." - David L. Ulin, Los Angeles Reader

Man, I love this. Especially the lengthy and revealing sonnet sequence, "18-21," a must-read from the world of gay poetry.
