Good to the Last Death #7

The Facts of Midlife

Rate this book
Midlife is sheer madness, and the facts of midlife are not taught in school. Unfortunately, some lessons are hellishly hard to learn.

I thought I had it figured out. I was wrong.

Proving I’m the Angel of Mercy is turning into a sh*tshow of epic proportions.

Not too long ago, I was a forty-year-old gal with a stable and boring life ahead of me. Now? Not so much. I have celestial siblings who are no walk in the park. Their decisions can destroy my future.

And of course, my predecessor has given me a month to do the impossible or I’ll lose everything that means anything to me.

Gluing ghosts back together is turning out to be the easiest part of my job.

Fine. If this is my fate, I accept. Nothing is impossible if you believe.

I choose to believe.

Wow...absolutely loved it!
I don't know where to start with my review...days later and I still can't find the right words to express how much I loved "The Facts of Midlife".
As usual Robyn Peterman hit it out of the park...absolutely brilliant addition to the Good to the Last Death series....kept me reading. Each book in this series has been amazing and I say this is the best of the series....well I'm telling you "The Facts of Midlife" is the best of the series.
We see so much action in this story and I laughed, cried, laughed some more and downright ugly cried! How can one book cause so much emotions? I guess you can say I am vested in Daisy and Gideon's fictional lives. But there are so many characters in this series that you love Tim, Jennifer, Heather, Candy Vargo, Gram and many others.
When reading anything by Robyn Peterman I fall into the storyline...her writing is flawless and she knows how to keep the story interesting. She truly is one of my favourite writers.
Highly recommend this series!!

Incredible from start to finish

There was a battle.
There was hatred.
There was love.
There were tears (mostly mine).
There was laughter.
There was even more love.
And there was just everything to make it an absolute great book.

This series is the gift that keeps on giving (as is Candy Vargo), and each word, each sentence, each everything shows how much Robyn Peterman loves her series and her characters.

I wouldn't have it any other way, tears included. I love Daisy and Gideon and everyone of her crew and family so much!

EDIT TO ADD THE AUDIO BOOK: Jessica Almasy's narration is, as always, to the point and conveys the whole gamut of emotions contained in the book to perfection. My laughs and my ugly sobbing can testify.

The Facts of Midlife (Good to the Last Death, #7) continues the crazy that is absolutely fantabulous. This divine, original and oh so quirky tale is a great story of Daisy whose live is absolutey weird, zany and full of mayhem and madness. It is a Paranormal Women's Fiction that had me laughing so hard and sobbing at others. Daisy's life is absolutely bonkers she rides by the seat of her pants and hopes for the best with her eyes closed, she loves the grim reaper, her dad is an Archangel and has many other friends with weird titles. I love that Robyn's humour knows no bounds and you never know what she comes up with.
Robyn and the other group of authors that have banded together to bring brilliance of women over 40 a new lease on life. Hail the Fab 13, you should look them up you are going to love their work.

This is another really great novel in the series. I laughed and teared up some. It’s great fun, especially the trivia parts.
Jessica Almasy is again the narrator for this audiobook series, and thank goodness for that! I think I might just like her… (sarcasm btw). 😁

4 stars, and recommended. But only in order.

One heck of an adventure.

This book has it all. Love, hate, loyalty, battles, challenges, and snot suckers. With tight plotting, a great narrative, and a plethora of quirky characters, all peppered with humor make for an adventure you won't want to miss.

I highly recommend this book and series.

Robyn Peterman has done it again. She has taken mass chaos of characters and situations and made an amazing, amusing story.
What’s worse than turning forty? Turning forty, finding out that you are a Death Counselor and then that you are the Angel of Mercy. Her midlife crisis should be a piece of cake. Add to that having a magical baby and you have a typical Robyn Peterman story, creative chaos that is fun, and a page-turner.
This latest installment in the Good to the Last Death Series is a MUST read.

Daisy, the new Angel of Mercy is still learning her magical powers. The old Angel of Mercy says he wants his job back and is coming after Daisy.
Magical mayhem and humor!
Daisy was a 40 year old gal in a boring job and a boring life ahead. But she finds out she is part of a magical family, her father is the Angel, Michael and she has a role as Death Counselor and now Angel of Mercy. She has a few days to sort out the situation and figure out how to save herself and her family, again!
Oh boy it keeps getting tougher!
Fun series!

Are this books great? Nope, they are just meh, but what can I say, they are free on audible, they're entertaining enough and I'm already invested.

Somehow this series reminds me of Charmed, plus they're super easy to listen and a good company for doing chores.

They'd probably be better if the author refrained from writing lady balls THAT often. The writing style is a bit repetitive and cheesy in an almost fun way.

All and all this is a perfectly OK series and I'm probably gonna read them all.

Dropped right into the action where book six left off, Daisy has to fight for her family and her future. Alana Catherine has arrived, and while she brings everyone a lot of joy, evil lurks in the wings looking to take everything from Daisy. The action never stops in this book, and while tissues are likely necessary, there are HEAs and HFNs galore. The laughs always outnumber the tears in a Robyn Peterman book!

Can’t wait for book seven to see what happens with Zadkiel, and I definitely want more of Abaddon! I really like the character/humanity development of Daisy’s siblings, and look forward to more of all of the characters.

My poor heart has been through every conceivable emotion. How can one go from anger into laughter then tears? Robyn Peterman has achieved this skill in epic proportions. We all knew deep down there will be loss cause there can't be light without dark but I wasn't expecting this and yet it was foretold so many times if you just paid attention. I'm still processing and I'm ready for more.. bring it!

7 books into this amazing series already!!!
Daisy, Gideon and the gang are all back, with more drama and more disgusting and disturbing facts…lol
This one made me laugh and cry. The tears were real and heartfelt at the end…
There was so much going on in this story and I went through a roller coaster of emotions, this is what makes for an excellent read for me and this one went above and beyond.
You just have to read it for yourself and you’ll get why I love this series and this author so very much.

Wow! Well that was unexpected 🥺🥺 another great addition to the series, lots of laughter, sadness, closure, and madcap adventures for Daisy and the gang. As crazy as the stories are, it’s nice to see the characters developing and redeeming themselves from book to book. Candy and Tim are seriously my favorite characters, along with gram.

I have been a fan of all of Robyn's series, but this series is my very favorite. I laughed, a lot. I cried and celebrated. Can't wait for the next one.

Sat and read the whole series up to this point (KU) and found myself getting more and more disappointed as I went. Another victim of "good concept, mediocre execution" writing.

The writing was competent enough in the way that I didn't notice any typos, but it was lacking in other areas, like formatting. Too much use of caps in dialogue to convey shouting, and the lack of a justified alignment (kinda nit-picky but it just bothers me). The narrative itself needed a bit more drafting and probably some better beta readers.

All of that didn't effect my score that much, as I can ignore more of it after reading so much fanfiction and web novels. What I can't ignore is the "comedy" that fell flat most of the time (very subjective) and the wishy washy antagonist motivations. It reads a lot like the author didn't have any plans at all and was making it up as they went, so the two antagonists' motivations change from book to book and it makes it tedious to read.

There's also a *lot* of repetition. The author was quite liberal with the use of copy/paste. The FL thinks in circles constantly and the characters speak in circles (not to be confused with the "immortals are cryptic" excuse tossed around to make sure the FL doesn't get to know things that her friends really should probably just tell her) or just say the same things over and over again.

The overly flowery Hallmark Greeting Card dialogue gets tedious, as does the "lol so quirky" random fact nonsense that's rife in the narrative.

All that was enough to knock down two stars. The other three stars are there for how strangely addictive it was to read this. The books are fast-paced (most of the time, sometimes it comes to a screeching halt when the characters try to be funny) and bite-sized. There are some actually comedic points when it's not relying on being gross and characters just insulting each other. The emotional beats is where this series really shined. I got weepy several times reading it, and I think the author should have stuck with that aspect over all the other stuff.

I know I praised its fast pacing just a moment ago, but I think it could have benefited from slowing down just a little bit, especially in the last 3 or so books, especially where it came to forgiving Clarrisa and helping the 4 angels with their humanity. Those could have been neat on-going arcs, but the arbitrarily short time limits made the FL rush through any actual character development.

Over all, I don't regret reading the books. It's just sad to see the potential in the series and compare it to what it actually is. It's a good series for casual reading and binging, but the more you think about it the less things make sense.

I don’t know what to say about this book except WOW. So great. So much wisdom of good vs. evil and all the rules with no rules at all. I chuckled. I cried. It was touching. Heartbreaking. Anger-inducing. Warm. All the emotions. And the things said made me really think. I feel as though things in this book could be real. I am a Christian and I feel some of the things written could go against what’s stated in the Bible, however, what do we as humans actually know? Hey, it could happen.

Anyway, I’m so glad I found this series. I started it right before midnight and was antsy about putting it down so I could go to sleep at a decent hour. I finally unwantingly closed my Kindle at 3am when I was only 45 pages from the closing. The moment I got up at 6am, I picked it right back up and finished…tears flowed and a warmth in my heart appeared. I already preordered book 8 that is to be released in September of this year. I will gobble that book up, too!

Abaddon made an appearance in this read and was a great “character”. In fact, Peterman started another series explaining his life. So, I will be reading about the beautiful reptile-eyed demon next in “As The Underworld Turns. Good to the last demon Book 1” when it is released on July 11, 2022.

In the meantime, I am in a Robyn Peterman state of mind. I want to read another book of hers, so I chose “The Write Hook: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel: My So-Called Mystical Midlife Book One” as my next choice. If it is even half as good as The Facts of Midlife, I’ll be happy!

All I can think is Wow. I am just blown away. I devoured this book so fast. I laughed until I cried, but also cried my eyes out. It is so hilarious, yet so touching. This is definitely my favorite book so far in this series. This entire series has very fast become my favorite from Robyn. Daisy has become such a strong character thru everything she's been thru in her Midlife, and she's developed such strong friendships and support from her family. Gram is still my favorite and I hope we get to keep her for a long time. I hope we get more of Daisy and Gideon as developing parents because the Grim Reaper as a father is sweet. We got to see more of the siblings this time with their new found humanity and it was so awesome. I love all the angels and we get to see Rafe develop something special. I really hope we get to see the rest of them get a happy ending as they are integrated into the family and learn what love is. The adventure,  the action,  the humor, it all sucks you right in the story. As I read all I can think is how I never want it to end and I just want stories for everyone. I love being in this world and can't wait to see where we get to go next.

This one was my favorite in the series to date! I just adore Daisy and her crazy array of friends and family. Despite their rocky beginnings, Daisy and her unexpected siblings are growing closer, and they have her back when Candy shows up to drag her off on a rescue mission.

There is... so very much in this installment in the Good to the Last Death series. Battles. Love, Laughter. So. Many. Tears.

Her siblings - they've grown so much, and I can't wait for more of their stories to unfold. Their antics are just plain hysterical. I adore them as much as Daisy and her friends. And yes, there is deep sorrow in this book. But there is still light mixed in with the grief.

You MUST grab your copy of The Facts of Midlife. I know you will love it as much as I did.

Once again the rollercoaster of all the feels came roaring at me! We live in this never ending cycle of life and experience great joy as well as deep sorrow endlessly. These books never fail to give me both without offense. The intermingled snarky humor manages to uplift even the most heavy moments. Daisy and Gideon are forever endeared to me along side all these characters. I very much want a series for each of them. Oh to dream! This humor is not for the weak but is definitely for anyone open to new forms of joy!

What an adventure! Another Epic battle for Daisy & the crew!
This book is filled with wonder, excitement, fierce determination and a bit of sadness. I laughed & I cried. I especially Loved all of the drama mixed in with all of the love in this book. Enjoyable to read Daisy has a loving family and fun times when preparing for the next battle. It's not all doom & gloom. & Candy Vargo is still my second favorite character!!!!

But I have to ask: Are Tim & Jennifer's weird & strange facts really true? I haven't Googled these yet, but I think after this book I have to. My feelings are similar to Gabe's words!!!!! & I will never look at a box of Honey Nut Cheerios the same again.

series is a favorite

I loved this ending to one of my favorite series. It is so filled with love, strength, anxiety, and with some retributions. A new archangel is named, lovers are reunited, a beauty is created, and a state of happiness is formed with only a mild hiccup. This is a perfect ending to this series. I look forward as some characters will move or show up in the next series. Recommend this series with this outstanding ending. HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger, just a teaser to the next series. Enjoy

This is the seventh book in the Good to the Last Death series.

Robyn Peterman does a terrific job of wrapping up this series and gives us a teaser for a spin-off series. Previously, Daisy became a Death Counselor and learned that her absent father is the Archangel Michael. She becomes the Angel of Mercy, finds her true love and has a miracle baby. In this book, the previous Angel of Mercy wants his job back and challenges Daisy for the position.

A lot happens in this book and the author pulls one emotion after another from the reader. It is well worth the read.

Daisy and Gideon’s story continues as Daisy gives birth to her daughter and immediately has to make a bargain with the prior Angel of Mercy for the lives of Gideon, her father and her daughter.

Lots of laughs as usual with this bunch of characters. Some sad moments as well. These characters are so fun and and I love returning to Daisy’s world. This book ended with a slight twist and I’m excited to see where it goes. We were also introduced to a new character and we will be getting a spin off series from it. I can’t wait!

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.

5 stars all around!! We continue to follow Daisy and Gideon on this adventure of becoming parents and dealing with crazy angels and other Immortals. Not only is she having to learn to be a mom she is still adjusting to her jobs of Angel of Mercy and death counselor. With the ever present Candy Vargo with her toothpick , Tim with his horrible food creations, and a host of new siblings she is going to have to deal with the latest development with Zadkeil and his threats to her family and friends. Will she accomplish this new goal and what will it mean for her life going forward. This book is full of emotions from laughter, to tears, to snark!! You won’t want to put it down.

I read The Facts of Midlife on a plane. I am pretty sure the lady sitting next to me thinks I am crazy. I laughed. I sobbed. I was so engrossed I didn’t hear the Captain say we were about to land.

This series has me hooked! I love Daisy. I love Gideon. Grams, the ghosts. I love all of the characters! Each book has been a roller coaster ride.

In this book we find Daisy fighting for her baby girl and the OG Angel of Mercy doesn’t fight fair. But Daisy and her Angelic and demonic friends and family with do anything to win.

This book will make you laugh, sob and cry. It is has everything including “I didn’t see that coming!”

Loved the series until this point as became too hardcore

The last book was triggering for me which i think the author mentions in her write up somewhere but this one appears to be going even farther hence the three stars. The humor is great but the scenes with child abuse in an adults memory and tragic deaths of children will be tough to read for some so fair warning. This won't stop me reading other books by this author but I will be more careful in selecting which one's.

You’re heart strings better hold on tight because this one tied them up in knots. Still full of the classic pillow humor but you might want to put a tissue in reserves. A lot of things happen in this book and I am loving (mostly cause those emotional moments are hard) this book series! Always a twist ready to happen and a gross facts ready to have you cringing all while laughing my the pages away! these characters have stolen my heart. Even the tooth pick toting Candy!

The facts of midlife...
1. This book will make you cry.
2. Then you will cry some more.
3. Then you will remember what it feels like to give birth...No, we do NOT need boiling water!
4. You will get really ticked at the original Angel of Mercy.
5. A big, golden statue Lord will talk to you in riddles.
6. You will cry again.
7. And again....then again.
8. A big, nasty, gooey fight.
9. Some more tears...
10. You get to look forward to another book AND a new series!!!!

This one broke me a little

Daisy has gained, and lost so much. The losses in this one broke a little piece of me. Thankfully Daisy always has superglue so I’m pretty sure she can glue me back together.

I truly enjoy experiencing the development of these characters. Seeing the angels embrace their humanity, seeing Candy and Tim learning to be less socially awkward, and of course all of the growth Daisy has experienced since the beginning.

This book had me laughing, smiling, cheering, and crying. It was everything a well written book should be.
