Lucy Leroux is the steamy pen name for author L.B. Gilbert. Ten years ago Lucy moved to France for a one-year research contract. Six months later she was living with a handsome Frenchman and is now married with an adorable half-french 5yo who won't go to bed on time.
When her last contract ended Lucy turned to writing. Frustrated by a particularly bad romance novel she decided to write her own. Her family lives in Southern California.
Lucy loves all genres of romance and intends to write as many of them as possible. To date she has published twenty novels and novellas. These includes paranormal, urban fantasy, gothic regency, and contemporary romances with more on the way.
When the author says it’s a short, she really isn’t exaggerating. For all the wonderfulness of Cursed, I expected more to this story. Especially when the story abruptly ends at 50% and the rest of it is bio and ads for other books. There really isn’t much to the story itself. Even though it’s a “spellbound regency”, it didn’t have any spells or magic for that matter within the pages of this story. The spell happened before the events of the book. This really just covers the fallout with her running and how she stops running, and that’s really it. Yes, there’s some romance. Honestly, Moira herself felt like she needed more substance to her character. She felt like a generic regency debutante more interested in marrying and reputation than anything else. I think my largest issue was that I expected it to be 50 pages, and it wasn’t. It took just a few flips of pages and the story was done.
This is a wonderful prequel to Cursed and explains how the whole story line went regarding the paranormal aspect of the series. The heroine did something wrong but out of it lead her to love along with a happily ever after. It is a must read and you will enjoy it.
I have read a few of Lucy’s books now and each are very unique and exciting. I loved the magic aspect of this book and although the villain wasn’t killed he did get what he deserved, with the heroine getting her happy ending.
Please read "Cursed", before reading this brilliant short story, it will explain this origins of this story. This is a romance, although short, but very, very sweet.
