The storm.
The man.

Both come without warning.

My heart opens to Cooper Haywood the moment we meet. How can it resist? He’s charming, devastatingly handsome, and sweeps me off my feet before I realize the impact he’s making. And then it’s too late.

We fall too fast to worry about the consequences.
We love so hard that we ache when we’re apart.

Even though I have a past that still haunts me and he has a future that could put us at risk, none of that matters when we’re together.

Until it does.
And then everything changes.

Although the best thing he ever gave me now calls me Mommy, I can’t help but wonder if Cooper Haywood and that fateful storm were one and the same.

From the title & blurb alone, you wouldn’t think this would be anything special. In fact, I went in expecting to DNF because I am tired of the same old plots & themes (aka cheating, Manhos, doormat heroines, etc) that are used all the time now, but trust me folks, this is a must read! It packs a punch in a good way with lots of feels and I so recommend it for anyone that wants something a bit different & SAFE!

It’s a story about a young couple, Cooper & Story who meet one day and come from different backgrounds. On the surface, one would think they had nothing in common but these two clicked & fell hard for one another. It's their story how they fight their way to their well deserved HEA.

It is also a 3 part story that has a 6 year separation where both MCs stay true to one another. How often does THAT happen???

I won’t spoil this one as I normally do because really it is worth reading spoiler-free. And that ending? OH-MY-GOODNESS-!!!! Only disappointment was that I wanted a bit more into their future....😢

I kiss him again because he makes me feel greedy. I kiss him again because I don’t need to forgive him. He was always forgiven. I kiss him because he didn’t choose the contract or Camille.
He chose me, and when we couldn’t be together, he chose to be alone.

“You waited,” I say, it finally dawning on me. “You waited for me.” As his eyes search mine, I hug him so tight that he’ll never forget this feeling. Nothing can come between us, not unless we invite it. I will never let that happen again. “You didn’t know, but your heart and soul did.”

“I didn’t let anyone in because there was no room for them. Only you. Only ever you, babe.” His breath is warm against my neck, and when I look back, I see the truth. It’s always been there. I just wasn’t looking.
--------------
Sitting back, he lets his fingers trail along my scar. “No matter how many years we have ahead or how many are in our past, you will always be the best part of this life for me.”
It’s my turn to tear up. This man, he thinks I saved him, but he’ll never understand how he saved me. We make no sense on paper or to others, but to us, we do and isn’t that what’s important?
-------
This is the Story of my life, told in two chapters—before and after—we met. We might have started in a storm, but it’s only blue skies ahead.

Safety:

Safe. No cheating. Heroine is dating OM at the start of the story but she is a virgin.
Some OW drama in the form of Hero's ex but he doesn't want her.
No intimate scenes with OP.
HEA and 2 Epilogues months later.

"Where'd you come from, Story?" (...)
"I've been here all along."

I'm going to start honestly, as I always do. I hardly ever win IG giveaways, whatever they are -book money, eARCs, paperbacks, you name it. I even stopped trying to. I'd never read a book by S. L. Scott before, but the cover drew me in. And, maybe weirdly, so did the title.
I was ecstatic to win this eARC. And, after reading it, I think fate or whatever knew this was the right book for me. If you believe that (do you?).

"Cooper's eyes were once so bright that I thought emeralds would pale in comparison, but (...) I've started to realize that it's not the light in them that's mesmerizing. It's the dark. You just have to look a little harder."
I fell hard for Cooper from the get-go. It's clear to see he comes from money, but he's not your typical rich kid following in his parents' footsteps. It's also clear to see he's damaged, bent but maybe not broken, and looking for something (someone?) that's missing in his life. He doesn't know what or who it is, but we do. Because he first sees her at a party.

"We may be in the shadows of the building, but her smile brightens even the darkest corners."
Story (I love the name) was strong, and I loved everything about her. She didn't grow up around money, she had to fight for everything she has, and she loves her life. OK, her past is messed up, but she's (mostly) made peace with it. But there's someone missing there too. And yes, we may also know who that is.

"There are a million reasons I should have walked out that door. But I only needed one to stay. Her."
When they meet, randomly, at a coffee shop, there's a bond between them that's as strong as the storm roaring outside. The storm that made Cooper go to that coffee shop in the first place, because his building lost power and he has a paper to finish. Only to find not only Wi-Fi and electricity, but the kind of connection we spend a lifetime looking for, and the real light he needs.
Even though they’ve come close to before, they really see and find each other that night.

"I'm sorry for stealing your sunshine, Story."
"It's still here behind the clouds."

They're absolutely perfect for each other, and they connect so deeply it'll make you swoon. But life keeps throwing stuff at them. It's not only that they come from different worlds, it's his family, it's their past, it's everything. They try to make it, just the two of them against the world, but the world is stronger and comes between them.
And that broke me. I was crying.

"I didn't let anyone in because there was no room for them. Only you. Only ever you, babe."
Some people are just meant to be, and I may be naïve for thinking that (I really do, for real). When that's the case, they find their way back to each other, to who they were, to who they’re supposed to be together. It wasn't easy. Their pasts, their failures, their fears are still there, but so is their love. Because it never went away.

"Cooper Haywood was mine before I knew he existed. That's how souls work. They find each other in every lifetime."
This is one of the best second chance romance books I’ve ever read. The ending put my broken pieces back together. The epilogue made me believe again.
The storm that started it all was a strong one, but no match for the two of them. My heart is full.

Thank you, S.L. Scott. I loved it. I'm looking forward to reading more of your books!

❝i don’t know who hurt you, but with me, you never have to be afraid.❞

i clearly did not read the same book as everyone else 🥲

i think my actual copy of best i ever had got lost in the mail, because wow. everything about this book set me off, and i just *slow blinks*

what i'm trying to say, in my usual vague and convoluted way, is that reading this story was akin to taking a cheese grater to my nerves 🙃

also, fun fact! i can pinpoint the exact moment this book broke me:

❝i don’t remember everything from that day, but i know i never said goodbye.❞
❝telling me i broke you is the same thing.❞

this bish really had the AUDACITY, the GUMPTION, the GALL, to tell cooper- i DiDn'T sAy GoOdByE.

i. can. fucking. not.

… story can go take her bland ass somewhere else.
… cooper applauding her for doing the bare minimum.
… these two falling ass over tits in love after one meeting, smh.
… fuck cooper's cartoon villain lookin' family.
… what was the point of reed?
… when did story ever express an interest in photography?
… cooper and story were as appetizing together as a piece of unsalted chicken.
… no spice.
… the mom drama was the stupidest shit i have read in a long time.
… seriously, it was beyond dumb.
… AND THEN IT DIDN'T EVEN END UP MATTERING!!

best i ever had tried my damn patience and the only reason i'm giving it two stars is because i could not put this train wreck down.

What a wonderful (and heartbreaking) journey.

4,5 stars

As you can always expect from this author, this book was emotional and beautifully written.
Cooper and Story connected on such a deep level. Their chemistry was enthralling and the way they respected each other was inspiring.
They came from totally opposite backgrounds, that were surprisingly connected.

I'm trying really hard here not to give any spoilers, because I want you all to experience all the feelings I had reading this amazing book, so I'm gonna keep it short.

Story said that both the storm (that played a big part in their story) and Cooper came without warning. But even if he knew her from afar, I can surely attest she came without warning in his life as well.
They were huge surprises that came barrelling into both their lives.

They were both the bearer of horrible news and wonderful surprises, but dealing with all of it at the same time was undeniably overwhelming.
They were dealt awful cards by life itself (and from Cooper's family), and they had to protect themselves and their love with everything they had, even if it hurt them in the process.

But the way they were open to love and willing to find a way back to each other was heartwarming and inspiring.
They took the storm that brought them together and, instead of succumbing to its destruction, they made their love blossom.

I wasn't really wowed by the cover -- but behind the cover is a beautiful and unexpected story that will have you drowning in all the feels! You'll get angry, laugh, cry and fall in love! Again, Scott gives readers a well-written emotionally charged romance with characters you’ll love, along with some unlikable ones that you’ll love to hate.

A book that draws you in from the first page when Story (her name was a first for me) and Cooper are caught up in a whirlwind college romance their senior year amid family and social clashes. He’s from a wealthy family, drives a Jaguar and has plenty of cash to throw away, while she’s a struggling student with no family and barely scraping by on the small salary she makes at the local coffee shop. Of course, you know it’s coming so get ready – graduation day brings more than a diploma and the young couple are separated through no fault of their own for six long years before they cross paths once again. There have been a lot of changes in both their lives. Story has made great strides in both her professional and artistic life. And Cooper has as well, all for the better in my opinion both personally and professionally. He truly shines in this “second chance” part of the story.

Told from dual points of view by Story and Cooper. I love when an author chooses to give readers both sides of the story. It lends so much more depth and perception of what’s going on inside each of the character’s head and heart – especially when it’s a romance shared by two individuals with different feelings and thoughts.

If you’re a fan of a great second chance romance that’s both heartbreaking and heart-mending at the same time, then this one is sure to appease.

This was a long journey!! These characters who had no business being together, found something pure and genuine in each other and fell in love. I love those kinds of stories and even though I was expecting something entirely different from this, it still held my attention.

With a storm rolling in, Story has no idea that the customer entering the coffee shop is going to turn her life upside down and change her in ways that she never expected. What starts as a chance encounter, quickly turns into a whirlwind romance that is filled with passion, love and heartbreak. But can they survive the storm?

tumblr-nxii87f-VLp1sk57ulo1-r1-500

I really liked that these characters found ways to do what was best for them early on in their relationship and they made time to explore things. This was an extremely instant romance and if I'm being honest, I'm not a fan of those. Things moved too quickly for my liking and I wanted them to slow down a bit and just enjoy the relationship more.

This story is told in three parts where we have the past which is the majority of the book, the present, and a bit of time jump into the future. I really liked seeing the past from both pov's with the main characters but I felt like a lot of things were too much and unnecessary and that hindered my reading experience. I could've done without some of the drama and secrets that felt like it was more of a shock value to stir up even MORE drama. I think of some of those things were left out, I would've enjoyed the story much more.

If you're looking for second chance new adult romance, you might enjoy this one. What didn't work for me, might just be the thing that makes you love it even more.

The first line sets the tone and foreshadows the story..."They came without warning - the storm and the man. One day, I'll look back and realize they were one and the same."
Story Salenger is a senior in college and works at The Bean There coffee shop to pay the bills. Her background is a sad one, with an abusive stepfather who killed her mother. She has the eye of an artist and finds beauty around her. When she met Cooper, she found what made her happy and felt they were meant to be. Their happy ending wouldn't come for six years, if at all. Cooper Reed Haywood was, indeed, a storm. He was born into great wealth and his name carried with it a legacy of power. He didn't know love, except for the love from Patrice Keller, his nanny when he was a boy. His parents were more concerned with the social standing the name Haywood brought with it, whereas to Cooper, it was an albatross around his neck. He wanted to live his life his own way. He was an angry and troubled teen, prone to getting into trouble that, one day, he wouldn't be able to escape and would upend his life. Cooper and Story fell fast and hard, deeply in love and looking at a future together, but his family stepped in with a contract to sign.
The Best I Ever Had is a book filled with emotions so strong that the tears and love bleed out onto the page. This is what romance should be!

It was too long and too slow the first two parts, the it was rushed in the third part.
This author likes long descriptions of meaningless acts, the first two days of this couple takes almost 30 per cent of the book, and nothing very eventful happens.
Their secrets are not revealed until much later.
He’s a golden boy who was a rebel in his teens and she’s got a poor and dark background, with a story of abuse and trauma.
It reminded me of the movie Love Story, the characters are even similar in looks, he’s fair and she’s dark, he’s rich and she’s not, and his parents don’t want them to be together.
When they meet and fall in love they are only 21, very young and his family makes you wonder why murder is illegal, since they all deserve to die.
They manage to divide them even if they love each other.
They use blackmail and when the heroine finds out the hero was the reason why her mother died they break up.
Then she finds out she’s pregnant and his parents prevent her to tell him, so she leaves and never comes back.
They accidentally meet again six years later, he sued his parents for his money and has no contact with them anymore.
So why didn’t he go back to the heroine and tried to win her back?
He never fought for her, she never tried to get in touch with him even if she had his son.
Why?
The book would like to show us a great love who was written in the stars but I only see two people who could not even go through their first issue.
None of them cared enough to go back to the other, he moved on and even if it seems he didn’t date and was thinking about her sometimes, he didn’t try to see her again.
So where’s all the love?
Then when they meet again they are all in love again after five minutes.
Meh.
Not very convincing.
Too many words and too many inner thoughts but actions told us another story.
It wasn’t bad but not so good either IMO.

This is a story of fate, tragedy, destiny, class warfare, self sacrifice abiding love and above all hope!

Cooper sees Story across a crowded room and with one look he knows he’ll see her again. Then fate steps in and he does run into her again. From that moment on things take off and Cooper knows he’ll never let her go but sometimes life has a way of altering our wishes.

This book is happy, funny at times, tragic at others and hopeful. It depicts interference of gigantic proportions. What seems like fate and destiny can change in an instant. Momentary anger, resentment, jumping to wrong conclusions and doing what you think is best even when it’s wrong can set off chain reactions of epic proportions.
This is just an encapsulated view of what this book is about. You need to read this book and experience all the emotions for yourself.

Don’t worry there’s villains, hero’s, heroines, joy, romance and heat to fill all you’re looking for and there’s even melt your heart in all ways moments and people!

I read this story in one sitting and I couldn’t let it go. I don’t think you will either.

Best I Ever Had is a young adult college romance that leads to a very satisfying HEA six years later. To start, I love the cover, super sexy, just as the author described our hero, Cooper Haywood. He’s the perfect kind of hero, ethical and moral, kind to others, smart and driven to do things on his own, and just broken enough that you want to give him a giant hug. He notices our heroine, Story, at a party, and is immediately drawn to her, but their time is not yet to be.

I love his charm and how smitten he was, and how he really made an effort to get to know her. He came from great wealth and all of his stressors were due to his parents’ appalling demands. He earned my full respect for standing up for his own beliefs and taking the high road, rather than the easy payout.

Stormy was independent, a survivor, and not materialistic. She had past traumas of her own, and worked hard to earn her degree and put a roof over her head. Cooper stormed into her life one night and everything changed. She wasn't alone anymore. She felt loved and cherished, and liked him for who he was, not where he came from.

This story is about their relationship and how they were connected emotionally and physically from the beginning. I admired how he was patient and so considerate of her feelings and well being, and how consumed with love and passion she felt whenever he was near. But it isn’t easy going for these two as his parents throw a big monkey wrench into their plans, and you will have to read it for yourself to truly understand the torment they went through. I really admired how they were open with their feelings, but even true love isn’t enough sometimes. Queue all the angst!

I loved their story but do feel the pacing of the first half of the book was a bit slow and often repetitive. I really liked the characters and routed for them the entire time so I did keep reading, and am glad I did.

The second half was much better in my opinion as time and distance couldn’t keep these two apart. They were burned into each other’s memories and hearts, and even though he was unaware he had a child with her, they were soulmates destined to be together again. I really loved how it was like no time had passed and how they could forgive each other and move on. Cooper was so happy to be a dad and the author did a wonderful job describing all of the emotions they were feeling as they became a family. Although her name “Story” is unique and it’s origin is explained, I found it awkward to read.

I especially loved and am very grateful for all of the bonus epilogues, which is why I read romance! I finished the book with a big happy sigh knowing everything worked out exactly as it should.

6 year separation and had parents

This trope has been done many times before and I am not sure this was the best one. There are plotting nasty parents, an ex girlfriend, secrets, separation and angst. I think that he remained faithful to her but I honestly don't know. I know she was of course. It says he hasn't dated. I did like the story. The parents tried to get him to marry his ex Camille but he didn't even like her. He broke up with her before he met Storey, the heroine. He fell in love at first sight and swears he has loved her for the last six years. This is in three different parts and the last part is when he sees her again at an art exhibit where she is showing photos. I liked the third part best and the secrets being revealed. It's free in KU.

Boring and I felt the separation coming down the tracks just 10% in. My reading buddy confirmed that they do not get back together because the hero goes after her… they see each other by chance and we find out that the reasons they were separated in the first place were neutralized soon after their separation but for some stupid reason, the hero never came after the h… such an amazing love story 🙄

Let me start by saying I cannot remember the last time I read a book in a day. Once I got into the story, I fell in love with the characters and the the way the story unfolded.
Story is not your typical college student. She has had a hard life, supports herself and picks the wrong guys. Cooper comes from money. His family wants him to marry who they want, have the career they want and live the way they want. When Cooper meets Story, everything changes. Story opens Cooper’s eyes to life, to love, to forever until secrets come out, his family gets involved and lies get in the way. SL Scott tells a story that will rip out your heart. This book has all the feels and then some. It will keep you glued to the pages, unable to put it down.
Story was amazing, and you just had to root for her happy ending. She deserved it and then some.
The book is told in 4 parts and takes small jumps in time from the present some years after college. It is one not to be missed, and one of my favorites form the author. This is a run, don’t walk and download it now book!

This story right here, has everything you crave in a book, a storm that draws two people together, hot electricity between them, a love so pure, and a roller coaster of emotions that threaten to keep them apart. 5 amazing stars for this one!
At his party, Cooper spots a girl, Story, across the room, and he's instantly attracted to her, but he turns away for a few minutes and she's gone. Fast forward six months, and he's in need of internet to finish his paper, and he ends up at a coffee shop, and there she is.
Story hasn't had the best life, but she's battled to make it the best it can be. When Cooper walks into the coffee shop she works at, there is just something about him that makes her feel safe. There are definitely sparks between them, but can she trust him with her heart?
I couldn't put this book down, their story was so well written, these characters jumped off the pages and into my heart! Grab this one asap!

The Best I Ever Had is a unique book - the trope itself is not, but the way Ms Scott presents the characters and their experiences is.

This is one of those books where I have the challenge of making sure you go read the book, but don’t give too much away, so please forgive me if I don’t share as much info as you’d like!

Cooper and Story and the main characters in The Best I’ Ever Had and I found myself really liking them both. I found myself rooting for them to find a way forward and hoped that they would each be able to address the baggage they brought to the table. When we first meet these two, they are in their early 20s and close to college graduation. Both Cooper and Story presented themselves as much more mature than I would have expected for people of this age.

Ms Scott weaves a tale around these characters that pulled me in and wouldn’t let go. From instant attractions, to secrets, and … (yeah you have to read the book for that) there is a lot going on. Ms Scott does an excellent job of balancing all of the issues Cooper and Story have going on with their budding relationship.

This is a emotion packed Stand alone that you won’t want to put down once you get started.

Once again Ms Scott brings us an epic romance. Story and Cooper are written with such care and love that I couldn’t get enough of this wonderful couple. This author writes the moments between lovers perfectly, their wit and closeness, their connection and joy and most of all their love for each other shared in intimate moments are just romance gold.
This is a long read and for me it does dip a little in the middle but the ending was just perfectly paced.
I loved Cooper and Story. Their growth both as a couple and individuals was really lovely to read. Then with Cooper’s transformation from rich kid to humbled man making him the perfect partner for Story.

Trope: rich boy/poor girl, second chance, secret baby
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥 (2.5)

This was my first SL Scott story and it definitely won't be my last! Absolutely wonderful storytelling with characters that sank their teeth in and never let go. The story was about 70% in the past, so you get their full story with all the anticipation of a crash you know can't be avoided. Tons of twists and turns with pasts more fully entwined more than either of them could foresee. Just an all around fantastic read!

The writing style wasn’t for me. The H was sort of bipolar, one second he says “let’s go on a date” to the h and on the next sentence he says, “actually I’m not good for you so forget about me”

🥱 not for me.

Best I Ever Had is one you will not want to miss out on. This book right here is why I love reading S.L. Scott so much. This is filled with all the feelings you would want. All the emotions and all the love too. I'm so in love with Cooper and Story. Once you finally meet them you will see why. You have a couple from different sides of the track, yet that doesn't matter to either of them. They love fast and hard. Cooper had a troubled past and let his parents dictate many things. Story has never had it easy in life and is the sweetest person there is. One wrong move can cause a ripple effect and fate can bring souls together. This one sticks with you. The love is so beautiful and sweet between Story and Cooper. I love how strong both are when it comes down to staying true to oneself. 3.5 STARS

If you love to read romance that spreads across years, Best I Ever Had by S.L. Scott is for you. For me, the best part was an amazing heroine like Story. Kind but strong. Compassionate but with a steely attitude. Sweetness with fierceness. Cooper Haywood is lucky to have her.

Cooper and Story meets in a stormy night when the whole city was out of power, Story was working in the cafe with power and Cooper needed to finish a paper for finals. It was a whirlwind affair. But Cooper comes from a rich and powerful family that manipulates for own gain. Can Cooper choose Story? Or will the time intervene?

The story goes at a very lazy pace at the beginning .Almost too slow for me. Cooper and Story were exploring their hearts. Cooper being a charming bad boy and Story being the refreshing change in his dark life. I usually love a slow burn but I was feeling impatient. And then the conflict came in form of Cooper's crooked family. Cooper tried to push away from the games but it was too much and they were both destroyed. And Story shined through this emotional pain. I loved how she never compromised on her heart and her self respect. And then my main issue with this book came. A six year timeline jump. And then it restarted with little conflict. Too much was happening in last 30%. One whole star in my rating is for Story. It was emotional in episodes. But it didn't carry till the end.

I reviewed an early copy voluntarily

This novel has all the ingredients to be an amazing read and sadly it was just very lackluster.

I was living my best life starting this one and I was ready for the angst and for it to be a 5 stars but around 45% into it, I’ve noticed that I’ve lost interest.

The writing was definitely the best aspect of this novel and I’m really blaming the bland and cliche plot for this disaster.

The characters were oddly very annoying and the secrecy was quickly getting on my nerve.

Cooper was sweet but boring,

Story was your “I’m not like the other girl” “she’s an Angel” “she’s perfect” etc so totally bland and boring

The insta love was okay but the chemistry and the lust/smut wasn’t great.

Maybe it’s me, I dunno but I’m deeply disappointed.

S.L. Scott brings the angst, twists, heartbreak and all the love in the gripping saga of Cooper Haywood and Story Salenger- aka Best I Ever Had. This dual POV romance of fate and second chances is one hell of an emotional rollercoaster.

I loved this story. It gripped me in all the feels for all that Cooper and Story have endured. They shouldn't work- at first glance they make no sense but this instant connection of their souls creating peace in their chaotic worlds was just phenomenal. I wasn't sure about this story at first, honestly. I didn't understand Cooper- he was a series of contradictions especially when it came to his swift personality switch with Story- but it added to the mystery and intrigue of the book. I adored Story and her sweetness, optimism but also her strength and ability to pick up the broken pieces around her and persevere.

The fact that this story takes place over 7ish years kills me- just because I hate that it took so long for everything to finally fall all into place the way it should have. The angst and darkness of the story is balanced by the moments of humor and swooniness. But the journey is so worth it.

Fate always finds a way to bring back love that’s meant to be!

Story and Cooper had many chance encounters but one stormy night brings them face to face and Cooper knows he needs to do what he can to seize the opportunity! Their connection is instant and grows quickly! One night will never be enough but they come from two different worlds and Coopers dark past just might be their undoing!

I loved how Story’s and Coopers relationship progresses! It was instant attraction but the ease of conversation and how quickly they bonded it all grew to more!

Story had such an aura around her! She was such a gentle soul and very charismatic! Cooper was a fighter! He had some bumps in the road but he fought for what he wanted and changed into the man he was truly meant to be!

The steamy moments in this book were off the charts! It started small and romantic but lead to some very intense romance scenes that had me addicted!

A must read second chance romance!

What an amazing, emotionally charging experience! This book will have you laughing, crying, swooning, and it will break your heart and put it back together again in the best way!

Cooper and Story fall hard and fast for each other and their connection is soul deep. I love how open they are with each other. Cooper feels like he can truly be himself, and he even becomes a better man when he's with Story. Story tells Cooper things she's never told anyone and feels safe with him. They both feel like they're finally living again.

They both have difficult pasts that may bring you to tears. Unfortunately, some miscommunication and Cooper's awful family, tear this amazing couple apart at the worst time. I don't normally like year gaps in books, but this one worked. S. L. Scott did an excellent job bringing everything together! Cooper and Story came back together perfectly and became the perfect little family. I loved this book! I really love everything about Cooper and Story's relationship!

I received an ARC for an honest review.

This had so much potential 😫 The secret baby trope is one of my all-time favs, so you bet I was super excited to read this. I feel a little robbed, and I will explain why. In the blurb, we see that its a surprise baby trope... so naturally I assumed we'd get an insta-lovey beginning (they gotta make a baby y'all) and then part 2 is where the majority of the story happens with groveling, and the mmc finding out he's a dad. But unfortunately for me, that is not what we get. The book is broken up into 3 parts with part 3 being what I assumed the majority of the story would be (spoiler alert, it was not). We did not get enough groveling, tension, overall emotion in part 3 so I'm sad.

Normally I can forgive the insta-love in situations like these, but the insta-love wasn't even justified in my opinion because of how long part 1 + 2 are. If the majority of the story was going to be the "before" the romance could've been more fleshed out. Ugh. I'M BITTER BECAUSE I HAD HIGH HOPES.

Probably more like 2.5 stars
