Scarlett
I don’t want to lie to him. I really don’t.

First of all, he's hot. Really hot. I know I swore off gorgeous men for the rest of eternity, but Tenn Sawyer has me questioning all of my choices. At least, any choices that mean I can’t have him.

Second, he isn’t just hot, Tenn is bossy and domineering and patient and his smile makes my panties melt. And that was all before he kidnapped me.

After... I have no reason to trust him. There's too much at risk to follow my gut. One mistake and I'll lose everything.

But with Tenn, I can't seem to help myself.

Tenn
I knew she was trouble the second I lay eyes on her. Okay, it took me two minutes to figure it out. At first all I saw was a gorgeous woman I needed to get to know. Preferably naked.

Five minutes later, everything changed. Scarlett isn’t just a woman I want, suddenly she's my lifeline, the only thing keeping me from a murder charge. And if that isn’t complicated enough, every other word out of her mouth is a lie.

She needs my help. She won't trust me enough to ask. Every moment we're together binds us until I can't imagine not having her, even with all of her lies between us.

When she finally comes clean, and I understand what's at stake, I'm not worried about going to jail. I’m too busy trying to keep us alive.

Scheming Heart is a standalone romance with a happy ending. It’s third in The Hearts of Sawyers Bend series, featuring the Sawyer family of Sawyers Bend.

Tenn and Scarlett are a great couple. Scarlett had just the right amount of feistiness to make her fun and not reckless. Tenn might be my favorite and played off her personality perfectly making them a fun couple to get behind. They had great chemistry that had me forgetting they’d only known each other for about a week. I’m excited to see them make appearances in future books. I liked that Scarlett is an art historian and discovering more about the house. This helped to push forward the overarching storyline of who killed their father and where is the missing money and art.

The pacing was a bit slow in the beginning. The book could’ve been a lot shorter without the back and forth will they or won’t they internal dialogue. A bit later in the book the story took off and I was flipping pages like crazy second guessing and wondering what was going to happen. It also had me curious if one of the siblings might walk away on their own or for some reason not be able to hold up to the will’s stipulations and lose their birthright. Maybe that’s not so bad after all?

Although a large family builds in multiple books for a series, I’m hoping it won’t take 6 or more (or until 2030) to solve the mystery. There are sooo many siblings it’s difficult to keep track when some still haven’t made an appearance or left an impression. I missed getting more of them interacting. It’s mentioned Avery is Tenn’s twin but we never see or hear about her and the missed opportunity for that connection (good or bad) surprised me. Griffen, West, Savannah, and Royal make the most appearances. Plus, Bryce is back to add conflict. We learn a little more about Finn and my heart hurts for him. His story is going to be emotional and I’m anxious to read more. As they discover more about what their father has done to them and others, they’re slowly coming together and bonding.

The epilogue was *chef’s kiss*!! Parker is up next and I’m so ready!

I loved this sentence and it fit Sterling perfectly, “Being alone is better when you know you have people to come home to.”

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest opinion.

Deciding to take a run before he starts work at the Inn, Tenn runs into two beautiful women. One was his ex sister-in-law, Vanessa, demanding money to leave town and the other was a trespasser, Scarlett. While confronting Scarlett, trying to find out why she was there, she fell into a bush right on top of a dead body, Vanessa. Now Scarlett is Tenn only alibi. To protect himself and Scarlett, Tenn takes her to the manor, but first she needed to stop at the cottage, there Tenn met Scarlett eight year old son. But Scarlett is keeping a secret from Tenn of why she is in Sawyer Bend, not knowing who to trust or why she was really there all she knew was she needed to protect her boys.

This is the third book in The Hearts of Sawyers Bend featuring the Sawyer family. This is Tenn and Scarlet's story and it's a page-turner. This can be read as a standalone but you'll get more enjoyment if you read the rest of the books and meet the rest of the family. This romance is full of suspense and secrets. Who is the murderer? What happened to the art work? How does the mafia play into all of this? What about the runaway teenager? Warning, you might lose a little sleep because once you start reading you won't be able to put this book down. A great read with great characters and an entertaining story line. I love this series and I’ve been waiting for Tenn’s story. It definitely did not disappoint. He’s been the softy of the group, always jumping in to help the damsel in distress but after the outcomes of his past few interactions he’s formed a tougher shell. Meeting Scarlett and trying to figure her out was definitely forming a few cracks and introducing her son into the mix, well…I loved watching Tenn with him. It was definitely an insta-attraction for the two and their chemistry was great throughout the book. I loved them as a couple.

As with the other books, I was hooked from the beginning with Tenn and Scarlett’s unusual meet along with the air of suspense and danger. This is a family saga series unraveling a mystery and the murder of their father, providing more details and clues with each book. It’s best to read this series in order to fully understand and follow along with the interconnecting story arc. The rest of the Sawyer siblings make appearances and are woven in Tenn and Scarlett’s HEA and we get to also see how their lives have progressed since their own stories as well. All the characters are delightful and this was a great addition to the series. Murder, mystery, suspense, danger, deception, humor, family, heart, and love round out a great read!

This is such a good book! I couldn’t believe that Scarlet drove all the way to Sawyer Bend, NC from Boston to try and find a bust for her ex husband. When I found out why she did it later in the book, I understood. Scarlet brought her eight year old son with her and broke into one of the cottages at the Inn. She knew she was looking for a Sawyer, but didn’t know which one. She sure got more than what she bargained for! Scarlet actually ran into Tenn Sawyer early in the morning. As she lied to why she was there, Tenn accidentally pushed her into a bush where a dead body was. After West, the police officer, got there Tenn borrowed West’s cuffs to cuff him and Scarlet as she was not only his alibi, but he planned on protecting her too. Scarlet’s son August loved it at the big manor on the mountain while Scarlet and Tenn were very attracted to each other. Unfortunately her ex husband not only put her in danger, but also Tenn and her son. The book was so exciting at times, I hated putting it down. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Ivy Layne brought the steam and mystery with this book. There’s always this perfect balance with her books that always give me exactly what I need. She also always keeps me from going to sleep when I start her books. It’s like there’s never a perfect place to stop because you just want to keep seeing what happens next. Man did she throw a curve ball with this book and who Thatcher is. Tenn and Scarlett together though are complete perfection, I loved them. I have loved every single book she has written and this one is no exception. The suspense is killing me on what happened to Prentice and why. I need answers! I know they will come in time of course and I can’t wait to see what happens in Rebel Heart! It is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I personally would recommend reading all of her books, or at least the first two in this series so everything makes sense. I absolutely loved this book!

Given that my favorite character still remains Griffen, Tenn is absolutely charming and sweet. The story picks off from the mystery of Prentice’s murderer but the entire book whirls around this strange relationship between Scarlett and Tenn. As regards Scarlett, she is a very strong and smart woman who meets this stunning guy who steals her heart. The book is steamy but there are also many action packed moments with a lot of twists. It could be read as a stand-alone but I advise the reading of the other books just to enjoy these sexy boys.

I must say Griffin is my favorite character and I am following him to the end. I was disappointed with this book after waiting for almost a year. I was expecting more development with the case against Ford and steps to getting him freed. I was shocked that Vanessa was out and if she has no money who bailed her out?. With the vast experience from Sinclair's Security they should easily be able to identify and bring us closer to the killer. This was not explored at all so we are left hanging. I did not like the fact that Tenn is now given 2 children and I did not like Scarlet's story. TOO MUCH BAGGAGE.

Ivy Layne just keep getting better and better. I’ve love all other stories and I love this new one.
Tenn is a guy most girls would fall in love with. He is sweet and carring and very understanding.
Within a few chapters we find out that the leading lady has a child from an earlier relationship and I love to see how Tenn accepts this child as his.
The story differs from the others in this series but it still have some of the same elements.
You won’t be disappointed.
I can't wait to see where we go from here.

3.5 stars. The series is enjoyable enough but there’s a ridiculously long time between installments, so it’s hard to remember what happened in the first two that I read more than a year ago. 🤷‍♀️

This is the 3rd story about the Sawyers and in this one we get to read about Tennessee, Tenn and Scarlet. Tenn is cornered by Vanessa and moments later Scarlet comes down the same path right into Tenn. He doesn’t recognize her as a guest and they have a conversation where he discovers she’s not telling the truth she ends up in the bushes, where Vanessa is dead. Scarlet becomes Tenn’s alibi and he ends up taking her to the family mansion to lay low and to protect her while doing so Tenn finds out she has a son hiding in one of the closed cabins. These 2 have a hard time staying mad at one another and keeping their hands off one another, you can feel the tension between them. Tenn gets the family together to discuss the events and Griffen knows Scarlet is not telling the truth. With Ford in jail for killing their father, Prentice, the family is still trying to figure who did and keeping everyone safe. I love how her son, August makes a friend with Savannah’s son and they become best friends. Bryce their cousin is a creeper and he gets involved with stealing art, the mafia, ex husband and having Tenn on his back. Once Scarlet shares the truth Tenn does everything he can to help Scarlet rescue her son, Thatcher with the chance of losing his inheritance as he knows he can not live with Scarlet and her boys. The assistant at the Inn, Forrest has been dating Sterling and once his identity is discovered things get turned upside down for them. All the family members stick together and are there for one another each time there is something to celebrate or needing help with anything which is opposite of everything their father taught them and how he set up his will and their inheritance. I look forward to reading Parker’s story! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Can’t wait for the fourth book!

I love Ivy Layne! Her books are so well written and the characters instantly start to feel like family! I’m angry that I have caught up and have officially read everything she has written, forcing me to wait while she writes the next book! :) if you haven’t read her…start now! You will laugh, you will cry, you will fall in love with the main characters but also…with everyone else in the book. The love story is always spectacular but, the fact that there are so many strong, caring, lovable and often hysterical supporting characters…really keeps you coming back for the next book! I started this sawyers Bend series because Griffen was hysterical and I completely fell in love with him throughout his involvement in the Winters Saga and Sinclair security series’. I couldn’t wait to read his story and see how he dealt with being back with his family and back in Sawyers Bend! These books did not disappoint. I loved Griffen’s story! And I fell in love with the rest of his family! I can’t wait to read the rest of their stories and finally find out who the real killer is! I’m sure these are books I will again and again as, I have already read most of her books at least twice! The Hearst of Sawyers Bend books have all been awesome! If you haven’t read the rest of Ivy’s books yet…do yourself a favor and go back and start from the beginning…you will NOT be sorry! My only complaint about the Sawyers Bend books is, I really wish they crossed over with his life at Sinclair Security more! I miss the rest of the gang!😂

arching story line of just what happened with the murder of their father Prentice Sawyer. There are a lot of characters in this book because of the nature of the family, but it doesn't feel overwhelming. You get bits and pieces of the Sawyer Siblings, but at the same time they don't overtake anything away from Tenn and Scarlett's story.

Tenn sees Scarlett and has an instant connection to her, and can't wait to explore that more. I adore the way that Tenn is with August, her son. Which is another point that I really enjoy about this story. The kids involved are present but not so much that you feel as though they overtake the story either. There is a little bit of suspense and mystery involved with the investigation about Prentice and some other things that happen in this story. But they are interwoven so well, and in a way you don't expect that keeps you engaged.

Ivy Layne gives us a story that is full developed with characters that you want to spend more time with while also giving you an incredibly steamy romance. There are so many stolen moments with these two that are perfectly executed and organic in the way in which Layne writes them. You should read this series in order to fully grasp the mystery and chaos that Prentice Sawyer brings, but you don't necessarily have to. This is a great addition to the Sawyer Bend series and I can't wait to see where she takes us next.

Next Sawyer to get his story is Tennessee. Tenn was no push over. Ever since Vanessa almost got a family member killed as well as used Ford, he was not going to open his heart. When he meets a woman that has trespassed on the Inn, he isn’t buying her charm. But things get complicated when Vanessa is found dead and Scarlett is his alibi. What to do? Handcuff each other together and solve the crime. Tenn is no nonsense but there was something about Scarlett. She broken down his trust issues. You have to love Scarlett. She tried so hard to resist him but these two were drawn together in more ways. They are still trying to find out who killed Prentice. With them still trying to deal with being stuck in the manor with their annoying cousin Bryce. And what was the reason for Scarlett being at Sawyers Bend. I love that we have children around. Savanah’s son needed someone to play with. August changed things. And we find out who is Thatcher. I loved this story. Scarlett and Tenn were funny. Tenn always patient and Scarlett not wanting to jump him but did anyway. I have to say I felt for Sterling. She has had a rough life and is slowly coming back. We find out more about Forrest. Next book, “Rebel Heart” looks to be good. Nash and Parker. Can’t wait.

I freaking love Tenn Sawyer!

I loved this story more than the last! Part of it is because I am getting more answers to the overall mystery that started in book 1 (Stolen Heart); and the other part is because I totally fell for Tenn (but not more than Griffen, he’s still my #1).

Tennessee Sawyer is just the absolute best! Handsome, patient, thoughtful, passionate. Tenn was willing to give everything up for single mom Scarlett… Swoon! I don’t want to give too much away, but I’ll give a mini gist here.

Someone is murdered, Scarlett is Tenn’s alibi, Scarlett has secret, Tenn forces her to stay at his family’s home, they fall in lust, a ton of poo hits the fan, Scarlett reveals her secret, Tenn and his family take care of her, Tenn and Scarlett really fall in love, some of the mystery gets solved (but not really), and they live HEA.

This series of books (Sawyer’s Bend) is about a group of brothers and sisters that are forced to move back to their hometown, following the murder of their father. They are seriously so well written I look forward to the new one every time. Like right now, I am blown away at the sneak peak for book 4. I’m biting my nails in anticipation for Parker and Nash’s story.

This is another brilliant work of Ivy Layne, and I am convinced that she is the master of the continued story. She has a knack for bringing characters to life while meshing their continued stories seamlessly through different books.

Scheming Heart continues the saga of the Sawyer brothers. This time, it is about Tenn Sawyer, the little highlighted brother who has a thing for damsels in distress. He meets Scarlett while she is trespassing on his property and literally shackles her to him, as she has become an alibi for not committing murder.

Why is Scarlett trespassing on his property? Well, that’s another story, which delves into new characters, which I am sure will be highlighted in future books. But Scarlett, with her secret mission, also comes with additional baggage. Her son August. And who is Thatcher? The person for whom she starts her criminal escapades of trespass. Who is Elliott?

The twists and turns in this offering are both enlightening and fun to read; however, we still have not gotten to the bottom of the whodunit of who killed dear old dad lurking. This book makes for an easy read and an excellent continuation of a HEA.

I just have to start off saying I love Ivy Layne books. I wish these books would come out closer together since it’s an ongoing mystery type series. It was so long between book I had to try and remember what happened in Royals book. When this story opened with Vanessa I the scene I was lost. I could of sworn she was in jail… I was right but it threw me lol. I don’t think any Sawyer will beat out Griffin for my favorite but Tenn definitely came close. His patience is out of this world. I loved how Scarlets character was strong and independent but vulnerable at the same time. I was hooked and couldn’t put the book down. I also love how all the stores include all the same characters so you can continue following them. The twists Ivy throws into the mystery are good and keep me guessing. I am usually really good at figuring these things out but I have no clue who the murder is yet… unless it’s Bryce but they just seems to obvious. I don’t want to give much away so I’ll just say I highly recommend the book and am anxiously waiting for Parker’s story! Hope we don’t have to wait to long….

Love at First sSight
Action, pain, love and relief. When the Styers do something it has a lot of bang behind it. Tenn, short for Tennessee, is struggling with everything going on in the family and then he finds himself right in the middle of the drama. Had Scarlet not stepped in when she did things would have gone from bad to worse and yet the chemistry flying between these two adds a whole new dimension to the situation. Throw in stolen artwork, mafia hit men, despicable ex’s, runaway 13 year olds and the drama hits an all new level. The Sawyers have seen bad things but hopefully the unity that is occurring will help to get them back on track. Great addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next book.

This is Scheming Heart, book 3 of The Hearts Of Sawyers Bend, written by Ivy Layne. We are back in Sawyers Bend and Tenn Sawyer is in for trouble! When he finds a lady hiding out in the hotel, he also stumbles across a murder! It's always busy and exciting in Sawyers Bend and this one is no exception. A gorgeous stranger may be the only thing preventing Tenn from a murder charge so he decides to keep her as close as possible.... like really close.... really really close! I love the heart in this series, the steamy sparks flying between them. And we are still trying to solve the mystery from the very beginning. I'm beginning to wonder if we will ever know who murdered their father. I know Ivy Layne will give us an outstanding conclusion eventually! I'll just enjoy reading this series until then!

Ivy Layne is a great author. I’m so glad to finally meet Tenn and get his story. After Royal and Daisy’s story comes Tenn and Scarlett. After a run in with any Sawyer’s favorite person, Tenn finds himself stuck with Scarlett, his alibi, when they find a body with a bullet through the forehead. Things get interesting when Tenn takes her back to the manor. Because even though she is tied to him, he finds himself tied tighter and tighter to her, even when his inheritance is in jeopardy.
It was a great book, another Ivy Layne book that delivers new twists and turns you didn’t see coming. The Prentice story continues to unfold but still there are more questions and few if any answers. I love how Ivy continues to draw you in and leave you happy but wanting more.

This author is a treasure! I have been with her since her first duo quite a few years back and I fell in love with the Winter’s Family and couldn’t wait for each book. When Ivy said she was concluding that series I was quite sad but then she started a new series and those books are her best yet. I loved Scheming Hearts and Tenn and Scarlett. I don’t know how this couple figured out a relationship under their circumstances but they did. I love getting further into the family and it’s just an amazing series. Both characters are so well written you can’t help but feel your heart cry for some of their background issues and I just thought they were adorable. I can’t wait for the next read. I’m planning on re-reading from book 1 this holiday. Well done, absolutely loved it.

Already skeptical even from just the description. 1 - single parent romances never do it for me. 2 - just more secrets and lies and drama and murder plots.

Shared bed. They joke about kidnapping, but not really. Lots more drama involved the families. Finished fine.

Figure her being there is connected to the plot against the family. Even if she’s ignorant to what’s going on behind the scenes. Didn’t see the second twist that came in towards the end.

Premonition of final sentences in chapters starts at 50% with this one and picks up a lot at 75%. It’s really not necessary, just let the plot progress on its own.

Maybe I watch too many cop shows, but there’s no way a larger national agency wouldn’t be involved at this point. Multiple unsolved murders, financial crimes, art theft, all host of confusing but nefarious happenings. No way poor West would actually be doing this alone.

I loved the unexpected events that brought Tenn and Scarlett together. Circumstances that should have kept them from even being friendly somehow brought them closer together, and the heat dialed up whenever they were alone together in a room that locked! I fell in love with Tennessee Sawyer right along with Scarlett because he was just so solid. Scarlett really pulled this mamma's heartstrings with how feraciously she fought to protect her own, and to have Tenn have her back like he did was totally swoonworthy. The intrigue with Prentice's murder laced the story and danger was a constant backdrop throughout the book. This book was totally engrossing and it was torture to put it down to go to work!

In this book the Sawyer family saga continues with Tenn and Scarlet’s story. The story begins with an argument, murder and someone trespassing at the Inn early one morning.
Must say as with the previous books this book grabs you from the begging, not only the chemistry between Tenn and Scarlet is off the charts fantastic but the suspense continues to build, who killed his father and who wants to harm them. In this book we also get the opportunity to see other members of the family make an appearance and reading on the progression of their lives.
We’re this book could be read as a standalone I strongly recommend reading Griffin and Royal’s story.
I am looking forward to the next book Rebel Heart!

Romance at its Best!

Scheming Heart is the third Hearts of Sawyers Bend novel, this one featuring Tennessee Sawyer and an unexpected visitor to their little town, Scarlet at. Her reasons for being there are suspicious to say the least, added to her being in the general area during a murder? Not good.... If meeting under such circumstances isn't difficult enough, Scarlett is keeping her real reasons for being in town from Tenn and his family. This subterfuge is hard to maintain as both Scarlett and her sons August and Thatcher develop feelings for the people living in Heartstone Manor. I loved the pace of their developing relationship, how both Tenn and Scarlett had reservations, but never about each other. Truly a lovely romance, with drama and mystery added to the mix.

4.5 stars- I really enjoyed Tenn and Scarlett's story. It grabbed me from the first page and didn't let go till the last one. As with the other books in this series there is mystery and who's good and who's bad and a steamy steamy love story at the center of it all. All of the Sawyer's, their significant others and friends make appearances in the book and I love reading about how their lives are progressing. If you have enjoy this series of books as much as I have make sure to read the sneak peak at the end of the book for Rebel Heart, OMG 2o22 can't come fast enough. Tennessee Sawyer, who seems so serious, meets his match with Scarlett. I loved her character that seemed so right for Tenn and the way he tried to be so stern in the beginning with her but he couldn’t. It’s obvious that Scarlett has secrets and as they were revealed, that I was surprised was an understatement. It seems everyone wants the same thing, putting their lives in danger. Tenn seemed to be unfazed and immediately stepped in to help even if it could jeopardize his inheritance.
Once again, Ivy has given us another chapter of the Sawyers that was astounding.

The Sawyer family gets a few steps closer to finding out who killed their father in this newest tale. Tennessee Sawyer and Scarlet Hall meet by accident, but have to stick together when they discover a body. The twists and turns of the story gives a little more information about why the Sawyer's father was murdered, but it also adds new questions to the mystery.

Another winner by Ms. Layne. I can't wait for the next installment!

As a long time reader of everything Ivy Layne I was excited to read the third installment of the Sawyers series. The crime aspect of the story started off with a bang... Before taking a back seat for the rest of the book. I enjoyed some of the peeks we got at the other two couples that have already had their stories.
