Alternative War

Rate this book
What is War?
Nobody can really say.
“Everybody was in a different War. Nobody's War is quite the same as anyone else's.”
These words were from a Vietnam Veteran counselor.
Truer words have never been spoken, so in this book we don't try to answer the question.
Instead we bring you thoughtful stories not only of War, but the people affected, and the aftermath.
In this book you'll find stories of alternative Wars as imagined by 26 authors of speculative fiction. Perhaps some of them will provide some insight into why we keep repeating what simply seems like a really bad idea.

Alternative War is a collection of short stories and poetry. While there are one or two “war” stories in the collection, overall I would say it’s more about conflict and the results of it. There are some fine stories, thoughtful poems, and intriguing ideas. I would recommend reading in small bites to digest the ideas. “The Gelding”, “The Tree of Fate and Wishes”, and “The Changeling” were especially good.
This is definitely NOT a collection of War stories.

Bought this book to read the story by Jim Wright (@Stonekettle). Not only was his story outstanding, but the other stories are captivating, as well. Jim also did the cover photography.
