The unarmed pair gets into trouble, only to be saved by a mysterious band of soldiers. As the girls soon discover, the soldiers are American marines stationed in Japan who found their way into the Otherside from their Okinawan base and have been making camp at Kisaragi themselves, unable to find a way home. Still don't care for Sorawo, and have a hard time with characters not able to piece things together.

I guess things have to happen in order to have plot. :/

But I still like the Otherside monsters.

I wonder if there's an anime adaptation...

There's a light novel series that I rejected to read the manga.

OMG! So…at the end of the last chapter, Sorawo, Toriko, and the dude with the missing wife encountered an 8 ft tall woman who gave them the feeling of missing someone you love. She absorbed the dude, and Sorawo sees Toriko walking towards it, talking about Satsuki. Here, she demands that Toriko not leave her alone…and then there is the best twist.

Later, after having a bit too much to eat and drink while celebrating their success, they accidentally wander into the otherside at night! They encounter some super creepy monsters and…US soldiers?

I don’t know why I keep reading this manga. It always creeps me out when I read it.

This volume contains the ending to the 8 foot tall lady story that began in volume one. And then Toriko and Sorawa literally stumble into the Kisaragi station mystery on the way back from dinner celebrating their successful return from the Otherside. I think we have successfully learned at this point that you shouldn’t get comfortable around the Otherside. It’s like Beetlejuice or the Spanish Inquisition. It just shows up when you least expect it!

But this time they aren’t prepared to enter the Otherside. All of the planning, supplies, and reconnaissance that usually mark their forays aren’t possible when they stumble into the Otherside on accident. And are the marines that rescue them from the Otherside at night actually friends? I have serious questions about these soldiers who supposedly have survived a month. I’ll have to psych myself up for volume three to find out more.

I'm having a lot of fun with this series. I love the cosmic horror, but with a Japanese twist. Most of the monsters and locations relate to Japanese myths and urban legends.

Sorawo and Toriko becoming more understandable as I get to know them. I like both of them a lot.

I'm also enjoying how they are handling being on the Otherside completely unprepared! They're both taking things seriously, and depending on each other to survive.

The one thing keeping this series from getting top marks is the art. Generally, I like it, but the way the panels are laid out in some sections is confusing. In one scene, and action is laid out in multiple jagged panels which dragged the whole story to a standstill. It would have been better to have laid it out in one or two clear panels. This happened several times, and it was annoying.

I've heard that the light novels are very good, so I might look into them.

I believe the volume of the manga is adapting the first novel. It has been so long since I read the novels, that I forgot what happens in them.

Sorawo is able to stop Toriko from following the giant lady. Strangely enough, what they see are two different things. Toriko sees Satsuki and Sorawo sees Toriko leaving. But hearing Sorawo exclaim how she doesn't want to be alone, halts Toriko.

After the two go to a pub and have some drinks. After they leave, they wind up on the Otherside where they meet the Marine that had been trapped there for over a month. In the midst of trying to find a way to escape, they are attacked by what looks like people with weird faces.

I am really enjoying this adaption so far. I am excited for the next volume though I have to wait until December to get it. I really want some scenes to be included in the novel.

Don't know if it's cause I've read the light novels and watched the anime, but this was disappointing. Too slow, not enough content and to be honest wasn't worth the price I paid. The one good thing they added was that the soldiers actually looked like they've been stuck in the otherside compared to the anime.

Really good; glad there's a continuing manga edition for me to pick up, since I'm not getting around to the light novels, as much as I've heard good stuff about them. :) Also just really enjoy the weirdness they get wrapped up in.

think I'm gonna accept I don't get the hype with this series and officially drop it. the main character is just way too annoying and the introduction of a group of american army dudes tells me I'm not gonna be onboard for the next several chapters

November 2022. Volume 2 in a YA sci-fi adventure manga with a slow-burn WW romance element.

Really enjoyed this, it went unexpected places and I’m super invested. A Stalker/Roadside Picnic like alternate plane of existence filled with strange beings from modern Japanese urban folklore.

Looking forward to volume 3!

Distrito Manga últimamente no hace más que sacar buenos títulos y este es uno de mis favoritos.

Mucha chicha en la trama, dos protagonistas muy monas y tensión entre ellas y cosas muy pero que muy raras.
