Beneath the Deep is equal parts monster hunt and intriguing mystery. When her uncle is kidnapped, Morgan is certain that his hunt for an extinct sea creature has put him in danger. She tracks him from Iowa to Hawaii and then finally, under the sea where both of their lives are suddenly in jeopardy. Chatman drew me in with codes and clues to secret rooms and kept me hooked with the action. I highly recommend this for those who like a clean, suspenseful read with authentic characters. I was provided an advanced copy for voluntary review, but this is my honest opinion.

I was excited to find a book with a female scientist as the main character. Morgan is searching for her beloved uncle, who is a missing person. As she goes deeper into the search, she's drawn into a whirlwind and doesn't know who to trust. The characters are interesting, the story is full of adventure and fascinating possibilities with a solid faith thread.

Great story with a creationist message.

The story pulls you along with a well crafted complex mystery that leads to a satisfying conclusion and HEA. I loved the way the author wove a few of the multitude of scientific observations supporting the creationist worldview. I love it when I find a Christian author who is not afraid to write a book with solid Christian themes. Beneath the Deep was such a great read! This story follows Morgan, who is close to her Uncle Daniel. When he suddenly goes missing, she is pulled into a suspenseful and dangerous search to find him. The tension keeps building as she uncovers clues and faces unexpected twists along the way.
What I loved most about this book is how different it is from what I typically read. The story dives deep into ocean exploration and research surrounding sea monsters, which made it fascinating and unique. The underwater elements added such an intriguing layer to the suspense. Since I already enjoy ocean animals and marine life, that aspect made it even more engaging for me.
If you enjoy suspense with a fresh, adventurous twist — especially involving the mysteries of the ocean — I definitely recommend this one! 🌊✨

Fascinating!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book with its combination of science, mystery, and hint of romance! The characters were likeable (except for the villains, of course) and it had a satisfying ending. She did a great job with her first novel! Recommended!

Loved this book!! I haven’t read a page turner like this one in a while and I screamed awwww internally (because baby is napping) several times. This one was crazy with the suspense and twists and turns. The genre was new to me and I very much enjoyed it.

It was such a fun, yet suspenseful, engaging, and thought provoking read! I enjoyed the Google searches it inspired since we’re a dinosaur-loving family. So good and have recommended it to several people since reading it.

Can’t wait to read other books by this author.

Christianity is a side-character in this book. If you're not religious and if you're a scientist, then this book will just make you mad.
The writing and plot was fine for half the book and while Christianity is a secret side character of this book, I just ignored it until a scene where the main character goes on a rant as a kid about how evolution was taught in class as truth. As 98% of scientist support the theory of evolution and as a marine scientist (my classes literally walked us through how single-celled organisms advanced into the animals we see today, some of which are similar singe-celled or grouped cells that work together as organisms and why certain traits are seen as "advanced") I don't think it's realistic that a family of marine scientists wouldn't support this theory. I also think it's dangerous to put out this kind of false information insinuating that fossils are all fake and scientists only pretend to know what their doing (if they're not Christians spreading the word, anyway). This entire scene added nothing to the plot other than to spread misinformation and show how religious the main characters are and how the uncle is constantly spreading the word to other people.

I’ve seen plenty of movies about fantastical creatures in the sea, on land, in space. But this is my first time reading a book with fantastical sea creatures. I will admit to being a bit confused all the way through with some of the characters and the plot, but that was probably just me and my interrupted time of reading the book. Maybe reading in one or two sittings would have made some things clearer. But I did enjoy it. It was different from my normal reads. I liked that the author made the myth and creation co-probablities. The Bible does mention leviathans and they were real, and the only explanation of what happened to them is that they somehow died out during or after the worldwide flood in Noah’s day. Or…could some still be lurking in the depths? Interesting!

Fantastic story!!

Both of my daughters are obsessed with dinosaurs, and as a result, we have undergone a creationist paleontology curriculum as part of our homeschool. Admittedly, I am a Dino enthusiast myself, and was therefore very excited to find a book that combined my love of dinos and the biblical account of creation. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be recommending it to all my friends. I am so excited to have this book as a part of my personal library and can’t wait for my girls to be able to read it as well!

I'm an unlikely candidate for sea monster stories - but Chatman did a great job tickling my imagination with thoughts of "what ifs" on intriguing topics like the Leviathan and other legendary mystic creatures - sea creatures that might not be as extinct as we assume them to be!
Expertly weaving fact and fiction in her suspenseful, fast-paced mystery, Chatman shows her multi-faceted writing skills as her novel takes us from Iowa to Hawaii to the deepest trenches of the ocean.

I needed to read a novel just like this one. Author Andrea Chatman had me at the get-go with her breath-hitching tale. I wanted to join Morgan Sullivan, quirky Keoni, and the elusive Uncle Daniel on the ensuing odyssey from the very first page. I love when that happens. If you’re looking for a delicious blend of suspense, romantic tension, sea monsters, and science, I highly recommend Beneath the Deep. It does not disappoint. My last word? Bring on the sequel!

This was an exciting science thriller about chasing after cryptids.
There was one character I found to be very strangely written... I think I know why because there was lots of betrayal and guessing who you could trust. The end made me wanting more books...go to Loch Ness!!
