Slack Wyrm is the ongoing story of an unconcerned dragon in an uncaring world. Set in a strange realm many thousands of years in the future, Slack Wyrm lives on an earth not unlike our own. A world of monsters, princesses, warriors, wizards, towering castles, creepy forests, and talking animals who wear jackets without trousers. Also there are cars and smartphones? Indeed, just like our own world, most of it will make no sense at all!
This book contains the first 400 or so Slack Wyrm comics, the mega-beloved webcomic series, originally posted to joshuawright.net and various social media sites. It has been bound into this black & white, manga-style format as a reasonably priced primer for fans. To make it accessible for horrible children of all ages, a few words have been changed so there’s no naughty swearing. Luckily Slack Wyrm only said s@#% and f&?# seven times in all, so it wasn’t a difficult job. In fact how can you resist? What's here is over 500 pages of chunky Slack Wyrm goodness!
Sometimes you just need a quick fun something to make you laugh. This was it! I got it last year and meant to read it quick but never got around to it. So. Much. Fun. And lazy dragons with castles full of either dungeons or treasure. I love seeing these comics come up on FB a few times a week and catching up on the backstory is always good. I hear there are a few more books.
Only drawback to this book? I miss the color. It’s just black and white. Which is good, but not as awesome as the full color illustrations. Maybe I’ll have to see if there are color editions available.
I've been reading Slack Wyrm, the web comic, for several years now. I have a couple of the smaller paperback collections, but then Joshua Wright put out this manga formatted one -- in black and while but that's okay -- with over 400 strips, I had to get it. This is a great introduction to the comic, and those of us who are already fans will have to have it just because!
