Cute little story about a family who find a kitten and the start of a mystery on Christmas Eve. Items are disappearing from ten-year-old Ginni's family's household. Who is taking them? Where are the missing objects? Could it be Neelia, their new little kitten?
If you or your family enjoys the small town cozy settings of Hallmark films and happy endings, give this story about a try. It would make a nice family read-aloud for the holidays.

I enjoy a thrilling mystery.
Ginni and Frankie have one on their hands. It's their first Christmas without their mom. They have a Christmas guest, Neelia, who's coat of black fur reminds Ginni of her mother's hair. When little things start to go missing, the mystery grows. The suspect list is short. Dad, Frankie and Ginni all have things that are missing. So who's the culprit? Where did Neelia come from? What's Neelia's connection to the mysterious owl that announced her presence at the front door? Did Ginni's mom send Neelia to help the family through their grief? Nova Dubois delivers a very touching story of hope, love and loss, with a side of mystery. You will be surprised by the mystery culprit! Thoroughly enjoyable!

We’re happy to see this will be a series, it’s such a great cozy mystery exploring the challenges of those tween years. When I was that age (cough, cough) Nancy Drew was all that and a bag of chips, this book brought back many of those memories. Ah, nostalgia of the season.

What a great time to launch a new series with a sprinkling of Christmas magic. The family aspect pulled at my heartstrings and I was grateful for the fun diversions. The mysteries were a hoot to solve. Don’t limit this book to tweens, as an adult, I enjoyed it too. This small book is packed full of fantastic writing that kept us engaged. Highly recommended.

A Start to Something Special

A wonderful introduction to what can be a great series exploring the internal and external challenges of growing up. The story speaks to tweens on being a kid and facing the next stage of life. I look forward to sharing the series with my family members as they grow and relate to the main characters.

Entertaining, Fun, and a Joy to Read!

I recommend this book to children ages 7 to 12 and anyone who's young at heart. It is heart-warming and suspenseful at the same time. I'm anxious to return to Vine Street and see what everyone encounters in book 2.
