The internal rollercoaster of the unknown.
The harsh stoic belief you weren’t left behind.

At his manor he works to help people move on from their past traumas. He’s spent many months with these patients and all seems to be going well.

However, the Doctor begins having nightmares of a castle and a mysterious figure in black. The only thing that he can recall is the sense of dread in his stomach. That, and those pulsing red eyes always staring back at him. If that wasn’t strange enough suddenly a new arrival makes his appearance at the manor. A young boy who bears the name

This was an ARC book that I received, and boy did I read this in one day! I stayed up late completely immersed in the world of Atticus. I'm an avid reader and find myself predicting the flow and out come of stories. I was pleasantly surprised to all the twist and turns keeping me on my toes and guessing the next step.

A completely different world that I have never experienced in a story, is brought to life by the author. I was very happy to see something different in this read.

While I feel like the story is short, it most defiantly could have had MANY more chapters, this is something I feel many people will enjoy.

What an awesome book!! Never saw anything coming this book is one that is full of surprises and will flip the script on everything you thought about the characters and who they are!

Our main character is a Doctor who helps his patient’s psychologically while also dealing with his own demons. And by that I mean his nightmares, that are disturbingly realistic. When his newest patient Atticus shows up it all starts making sense at the same time new questions begin to arise. Who is Atticus and what exactly ties him to the doctor?

Overall great book, and quick read! I will say I found this book to remind me of Inside Out the Disney movie but of course this book is like a more twisted / darker and more adult version of it! So once again, I definitely loved it & recommend! Who doesn’t love supporting our new small authors! 👏🏼

I genuinely enjoyed this book. Initially it took me a minute to get into this book. At times description of the scene was overdone, but it was good to build the picture. Halfway through, I could not put the book down. I loved how I could not predict the plot. Edwin however is a master of action scenes, especially if you've played rpgs.

The theme resonates well. The struggle of the personas against the nightmare rings true thinking on my own struggles with depression.

The Doctor runs a home for young people with troubled pasts. When a new boy named Atticus shows up at his door, he begins to question everything he knows, including himself.

As someone who reads a lot of thrillers, ATTICUS really surprised me with a twist I would never have guessed! An unusual mix of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Lord of the Rings, this fast-paced book will keep you on your toes and capture your attention throughout.

I did feel that at some points it was a bit too fast-paced, and certain points of the story were a bit disconnected and didn't flow together as well as I would have liked.

However, I definitely enjoyed this read and thought the storyline was incredibly unique!

I received an ARC for this book.
Since this was my first thriller I didn’t really know what to expect. This way I also cannot compare to other things in the same genre.
It’s a really fast paced story, maybe a sometimes a little too fast since I sometimes got stuck reading a part but when reading further I could eventually understand it.
Overall I liked the story and it definitely sparked some interest into reading other thrillers.

As the debut novel for author Charles Edwin, Atticus is a fast paced, action pack read. I am typically a slow reader and had my work life not interrupted my reading time I would have finished this in one day! I immediately found myself wanting to know more about the residents of the manor and had to keep reading to discover what ominous presence was lurking in the woods and invading nightmares.

This read like a game play in some areas and could easily be turned into a video game. It reminded me of some YA books, following the story line of a young protagonist the journeys to defeat evil.

There were some great underlying themes. A great reminder that although you may grow up with someone that has the same circumstances and struggles you do, that you may deal with them differently than they would. Something that is calming to you may set someone else on edge.

Some quotes that stood out to me:

“It looked that her focus was somewhere else entirely, and all that was able to escape to her eyes was sadness.”

“ I know how easy it is to pretend to change. To start a new life, to be different.”
