Jesus: Fib, Dead, or God?

Rate this book
Christians- there are lots of religions out there. Why do you choose to follow Christ?

Most believers will talk about how they were raised, how God has improved their life, or how they know in their heart that it’s real.

It sounds good on the surface, but faith built on these things alone is liable to be knocked down by the next strong wind in your life. It’s the reason many people lose their way.

In other words, you’re focused on the wrong question.

Tragically, most people will spend their entire life dodging the most important question in history. They’ll get hung up on objections like:

The Christian faith and I have different views on social issues like abortion and gay marriage.
Some Christian groups are too intolerant.
I don’t like how some Christian groups meddle in politics.
Many Christians are hypocrites.
There are lots of religions, and I’m not sure only one has to be the right way.

That’s where this book comes in. Breakout author, James Finke, is back to help you cut through the noise and get at the structural integrity of the faith.

For Christians who are new to or perhaps have never even heard the term Christian Apologetics, get ready to level up. Your personal faith, and your ability to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others will never be the same.

That’s right. No more playing “spiritual whac-a-mole” with skeptics. You’ll learn to methodically and simply explain why Jesus Christ is the Chief Cornerstone of your life.

For Pastors, ministry leaders, and apologetics enthusiasts, this book will fit right into that open spot on your evangelism toolbelt.

It’s been nearly 2,000 years since Jesus of Nazareth asked, “Who do you say that I am?”. Still, it remains the most important question in history, asked by the most important person in history.

Are you ready? Let’s talk Jesus.

Thank you for the F.A.C.T.S

Mr Finke does a very good job of delivering the gospel in an accessible way that not only engages the emotion but the mind. God does say to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Too often however, the mind and reason are left out of the gospel conversation. This leaves too many of us with a weak understanding of why we're Christians in the first place. Left to emotion alone many struggle or even, sadly, fall away. So thank you for the F.A.C.T.S Mr Finke they are indispensable.

[I received a free copy of this book from the author]

A simple but straightforward Christian apologetic book centered around who Jesus was and what this means for Christians and non-Christians alike. I actually enjoyed reading this a lot more than You Don't Need a Ph.D. to Find G-O-D because I found it was overall better-written and that Finke's arguments and premises were better developed and with less cherry-picking of sources, though I feel the use of Wikiedia citations hurt the book's credibility a little. As with his previous book, he builds upon the works of other authors such as Lee Strobel while inserting his own occasionally offbeat but clever analogies to explain the essentials of the Christian faith and how to live a Christ-centered life in a way that is clear and coherent. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to read this book and I think other readers interested in a short and basic refresher on Christian apologetics will as well.

C.S. Lewis popularized the Lord, liar, or lunatic logic, and in this book, Finke does something similar. Breaking down the various ways of thinking about Jesus, the author takes us down each path and shows how there are really only three ways to think of Jesus. Either he is a lie, he is dead, or he is God. All rejections and arguments about Jesus fit into either the fib category or the dead category, and the only other option is God.

Finke clearly spells out how the entire question of fib, dead, or God is based on only one thing, one point in history: the resurrection of Jesus. If that is true, then Jesus is God. But if he did not rise from the dead, then he is not. Finke breaks down the facts that lay behind Jesus, the ones most scholars, Christian and otherwise, accept about Jesus.

The most important question in history is the one Jesus asked to his disciples: who do you say I am? With this resource, Christians can build up their knowledge and realize the facts support the idea that Jesus is Lord, not a fib, and that he is most assuredly alive. If you’re a Christian who needs to know the reason for your faith, or you’re somebody searching for the truth, this book will help you along the way to answers.

Another Great Book

James,

Thank you for writing this book and giving me easy to use examples to help teach and answer questions that non-believers inherently have. This series is great and I will be starting your next book soon. May the lord continue to bless you and your family!

Another horrible book by James Finke. But the red flag was in the name “apologetic”. There is nothing “common sense” in this book. This book is just a bunch of dogmatic nonsense garbage that ignores what ACTUAL experts agree on.

Only a brainwashed fool would believe any of the garbage in the books written by James Finke.

An excellent apologetics book

Solid and easy apologetic read. A good primer on the topic for most! Recommended for all, and shouldn’t take too long.
