Socialite, and heiress to a Major League Baseball franchise, former Olympic Equestrian Camille Bradley has found herself homeless, and penniless. In the middle of one of her many charitable fundraisers, Camille has found herself without the capital to continue the ‘Sexy Men of Sports’ calendar she was in the process of completing.
Finding herself at the mercy of her best friends’ brother, Jacob, Camille moves into the upstairs apartment of Brooks Outfitters. The problem? Jacob still lives there, and he’s not happy about the intrusion. She resorts to begging Jacob to help her finish the calendar and he agrees, on one condition. Help him with a three-day white-water rafting camping excursion and he’ll help her out with recruiting the remaining athletes.
Jacob’s expectations, and opinion, of Camille are low, and when she agrees, he finds himself tortured by her sweet nature and sexy body. He’s been happy with the frequent visitors in and out of his bed, and just because they shared a past, doesn’t mean they have a future.
Finding her own way in the world, without her family’s fortune, Camille discovers an inner peace, that softens her heart, and opens her mind, making her even more irresistible to Jacob. Can they forgive each other enough to find their way back?
What a great winter time read! Once again Rie Anders has written a warm, feel good story about love and all its ups and downs. This story certainly does have that between the two main characters Camille Bradley and Jacob Brooks. At first with all this bickering you wonder if there is any hope for this relationship.
I wasn't even sure if I could like Camille as she seemed to be a self-absorbed, rich girl. However, life deals her some blows that cause her to realize major changes have to happen in her life. Jacob is a good contrast to her character. The yin and yang of their characters create delightful moments in this book. You hope all will work out for these two but you are never sure because something always seems to interfere. Once again Rie brings in some characters from her other books so you feel a sense of familiarity with the people you meet.
I really enjoy reading Rie Anders's books. They are feel good stories with interesting characters and story lines. I look forward to more adventures with her.
If you have a love for words If you love imagery If you love connecting with characters in a place and moment so well described you can easily picture in your mind If you love heartwarming, igniting moments you can ‘feel’ then you will enthusiastically and emphatically enjoy Rie Anders as a writer.
Slowly, All at Once embraces the true spirit of Christmas while bridging the painful gap from romance past to romance present. These characters have depth and desire written all over them and this novella begs to be read with a warm cup of cocoa and comfy blanket on a snowy day. The story line is relatable, sweet and tender with prose so well written the pages turn effortlessly.
I enjoyed this story. The author did a wonderful job of pulling the reader into Camille's world. While Camille is spoiled she also is trying to find herself after who she thought she'd be didn't happen, an Olympic medalist. Camille's life turns upside down and she must do some hard soul searching and realize her strength. Jacob is an ex pro football player who loves Camille but can he risk his heart? This is their story and it will draw you in. While Camille is spoiled I felt Jacob was self- centered at times and felt it was okay to just keep walking away from Camille every time something didn't go just right. I thought he expected her to " grow up" but he needed to stop playing games.
Past loves reunite as roommates for a short time. A white water rafting excursion brings them close once again. The growth Camille and Jacob experience while trying to get back together is heartwarming. And the end is perfect to me. When I read this book I could hear it being narrated, as I did with Hunter's Moon. No other author affects me in this way. Rie Anders gets better with each book he writes. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. #RieWritesRomance 💖💖💖
Must read- one of the best second chance romance I have read this year, I love a small village story, a teenager love, first love that you will captivated you with lots of emotions, Lots of misunderstandings, secrets, twists and turns, bad decisions that keeps you page after page wanting more of this great storyline of Jacob and Camille relationship. I wanted a few more chapters and a longer epilogue. Thanks to the author for providing my review copy.
Camille is a bit of the spoiled, rich girl. But she has a good heart. She has her world rocked and ends up in close proximity with her ex, Jacob. I liked that Camille didn't feel sorry for herself or whine. She was a strong character and I liked her more than I expected. I loved their history and their path to finding their happily ever after. Their story has the right amount of tension and loved how their story ended. I received an advance copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I like how the author describes the characters, I can imagine each one as I’m reading what they’re doing. This is a sweet romantic story with a happy ending. Can’t wait to read another book by this author.
I absolutely loved this book! I cried, I laughed and I just didn't want the story to end. I will definitely reread this book! I love everything Rie Anders writes!
I liked Camille and Jacob and really liked them together. Their story unfolds slowly and the wait was worth finding out what's gone on with these two. It was very gratifying to find Camille not only capable of change but capable of a lot more than just getting by. It was also rewarding to watch her relationships grow especially with Jacob.
Camille and Jacob are initially two ends of the spectrum. From privileged backgrounds, Camille once worked hard enough to be an Olympian but now does a lot of nothing. Jacob and his sister have started and grown their own company through a lot of hard, hands on work. When daddy cuts Camille off though, she must change and quickly. Begging a place to stay and landing a job seem impossible but come to be soon enough to save her but also come with strings attached to the one man she's truly loved and who broke her heart. There's a lot going one above and below the surface in this story making it a really good book to sit down with.
I really enjoyed Slowly, All At Once and recommend it.
