One thing drove Attorney Maxwell Kitts every waking day of his life. The dream to destroy the man who cast his mother, and him, aside when he was six weeks old. He vowed his seed donor would suffer three times the pain, humiliation, and suffering his mother endured when she left the small town behind.
Reyna Gibson did not know her fiancé led a double life. Not until someone murdered him for his despicable activities. With the spotlight on her, the last thing she’s interested in is a man with a secret agenda. Men are off limits. Especially handsome, smart, sexy attorneys asking for help.
Timing is terrible for Max and Reyna. Each has their own set of problems. Problems that consume them. Problems have a way of creating inroads to possibilities. Sometimes, that’s all you need.
"Hello,I'm a self-proclaimed read-a-holic. I love most genres and would rather read than do most things. Stands to reason, that I'd have this inexplicable love affair with the written word!
Reading was the balm that soothed me during tough times as a single mother, working two jobs. As things leveled out, I found I enjoyed the places books took me, there was a certain solace learning about various times and cultures. When I began traveling, many of the places I visited felt like old friends. I could envision the characters from the books walking the cobbled streets, or running along the swift moving streams.
After twenty years of reading and collecting my favorite authors, I decided to indulge my passion for storytelling. I took classes, invested in seminars and sat nervously across the table from editors. It was a lengthy process, Finally, I got the courage to allow the market to judge my work. The market can be a brutal, but I think fair, mistress. Hard work is rewarded and appreciated. Slackers don't stand a chance. :-)."
Loved the series. The suspense was well done though in the first book Carolyn not so bad but this book portrayed her as a mean bigger woman who hated her daughter of was jealous of her daughter. In the end her behaviour was explained by learning of what happened with her and Romero. The series showed many of the women as pawns, such as Sofia and Belinda, and others as broken such as Doreen and Carolyn and others are just mean mean such as Paulette and Iris. Annamarie grew up as daughter of a mistress with a mother who was a bad role mother - not difficult to see why she turned out the way she did. On the other hand we had great role models like Mama Ree, Quinton's Granny Ms Her and Mabel. Very sad that Belinda was made the victim for the breakup . She did not deserve it. Why couldn't Jamison be to blame.
Love never died between Harrison and LaRita. Years later, when the truth came out after Rees mother's death, the embers of their love still there reignited itself. But the lies and schemes to keep the truth from coming out are getting bigger. It all has to do with fathers that did not want their children associated with the other. Their selfish behavior affects more than just their children but their grandchild as well. Those lies and schemes cause Harrison to marry a woman he did not love who was the whore of their high school, and who continued to cheat on him throughout their marriage.
Thank goodness Max and Reyna hit it off. They turned out to be each other’s support.
Max, his mother and brother were all he could always count on, and they were the only family he has as far as he was concerned. But the death and funeral of his somewhat estranged grandmother opened a whole can of worms where the real truth and secrets will be revealed, and he will meet his lady Reyna who is living her own nightmare. Reyna and max, both broken will find healing and in the process healing others. I love Giles, can he find his own HEA???
OMG! What can I say? This book was loving but it was also ruthless. There were so many twists and turns that in the end Max decided to let sleeping dogs lay, otherwise it would have caused more tension and heated encounters, hurt feelings and maybe some killings! There are a lot of villains in this book but there are also heroes as well as an HEA for all the couples: Max and Reyna, Quinton and Jordan, Mama Ree and Harrison! (SPOILER ALERT) Jamison, well he may be disappointed…in Harrison finally having the love of his life with him.
I enjoyed this, lots of intrigue & secrets. I like the romance between Reyna & max. This was a lot of fun. The first time they're intimate was lacking, mainly because the author seem hesitant to use the necessary language. I'm not sure what "diva pin" is a euphemism for but every possibility is cringe. Oddly the love scenes after that first one were much better. It was like the same person didn't write those scenes. I really liked all the family drama, the new romance & the rekindled one.
This was another great read by Ms. Knowles. While not actually set in the Arrowheart community, Maxwell and Quintons dreams are still prevalent. This story included many twist and turns and ended up going a little too far towards the end. I can only suspect this was a set up for future installments.
I really enjoyed this story and the characters were very entertaining. The twist and turns keep you reading and wanting more. Loved the chemistry between Max and Reyna it is smoking hot 🔥! This was a awesome book just did not like it left you up in the air and hanging. I recommend this book to my fellow romance readers you will not be disappointed.
Need another book. Last few chapters make ask if the mystery been solved or all the answers were lies.lies was for the cover-up, so no one will pull at the strings of the cover-up. If that's the case why put it on the grandmother and dirty up her memory. And with something so easily that can be disproven?
There were a lot of answered questions but also a lot of unanswered ones in my opinion. I won't give any spoilers, but I need to know if there will be another book to answer some of the questions??
I the storyline keeps your interest. Love the families and the acceptance. I would definitely recommend this book to friends and family. I gave it 5 stars because it’s a great book.
Both stories were well written and fast paced just wish that they were not continuations; hopefully, won't have to wait too long for number 3 and that will be the final chapter.
This book was unfinished. I thought I would get the ending, but I guess not. This book was kind of boring. Why couldn't it end? At !easy Jordan and Quinton were still together. It took me longer than 5 hour to read this book. I couldn't get into it.
It took awhile to read this book. There was just too many characters. I was totally confused as to which characters were related. First time reading this author. Not sure I'll read other books by her.
I enjoyed this book. Lots of intrigue and mystery. I just wish that there was more attention to the build-up of Max and Reyna's romance and chemistry together.
3.5⭐️ This is a pretty intriguing story. It encompasses themes of love, suspense, betrayals and the revelation of family skeletons.
I downgraded my rating because of obvious proofreading errors such as the misspelling of a character’s name, the mix-up of speaker during a conversation, as well as dropped words to name a few. Otherwise, I think the story could have been at least a 4.0.
