(Watch Me) Unmask You

Rate this book
Theirs is a perfect marriage. Until a home invasion exposes secrets, lies, and shatters everything Elias and Lucky hold dear.

Too many bodies. Rivers of blood. Elias Kote sees them all in his sleep. Only the love of his husband and daughter keeps him alive and fighting. This contract killer is exhausted and weighed down by all the lies he tells every day. Who he is. What he does. How he came to have all he has. Elias can attest to nothing remaining hidden forever, but his secrets, when they do drop, shatters everything. Everyone. And leaves him scrambling to make his family whole again.

Ten years together. Three legally wed. One with their daughter. And in one night Lucky Mousasi’s world just…stops. What he thought was a random home invasion turns into way more. Masked men not only brutalize him, but they come armed with knowledge about Lucky, his husband, and the life he thought he knew. It seems nothing is coincidental, certainly not meeting and falling in love with Elias. Bruised, battered, heart ripped open, Lucky walks away.

An intimate rival will stop at nothing to neutralize the threat Elias poses, and the life he built out of guilt and desperation becomes collateral damage. When Lucky takes their daughter and disappears, Elias goes on a rampage. He will get his family back, but first, he’s on an elimination mission. One bullet at a time.

Features: established couple, age-gap, angst.

Always in love with the written word, Avril finally decided to do the writing in August of ’09 and never looked back. Spicy love scenes, delicious heroes, and wicked women burn up the pages of Avril’s stories, but there’ll always be a happy ending; Av remains a believer of love in all its forms.

(Watch Me) Unmask You is the third book of the Run This Town series, which is a sequel/spin-off of the highly recommended Brooklyn Sinners series.

I'm really sorry for giving it one star.

But I just can’t see where the love comes from.

Lucky and Elias have chemistry - I can give them that. But their whole relationship is based on lies, dark secrets, Lucky’s infatuation on Elias, Elias’s stalkerish behavior, and the aggressive and arrogant way he claims ownership over Lucky’s heart.

And I am supposed to believe that this is love.

The book is divided into two parts: the first half (up to 43%) is about the past: how they met, their painful and unsatisfying random encounters in the following years, and finally, how they get together.

It is half of the story, but it still feels like an extremely long prologue.

The second part is set in the present: Lucky and Elias are together for ten years now and have a little daughter. From this point, it is obvious what’s going to happen: Elias’s past is going to bite him in the ass, they’ll fight, then make it up. Annoyingly, it was like a soap opera: all the revealed connections between the characters, oh god, they were just too melodramatic.

Characters
Elias
I really despised Elias. And not because of his ‘occupation’ but his behavior toward Lucky.

I just didn’t get where Lucky’s infinite trust in him came from. Elias was creepy.

Lucky
He was cute at first, and I really liked him, but as the story progressed, I felt him kind of a pushover. I often wished he was like this:

But instead he was like a personal groupie of Elias.

The erotic scenes are very creative, but the emotions are not as present and intense as in the previous books of the series. Scorching hot sex scenes don’t make an impressive portrayal of emotions.

Lucky’s forgiveness comes easily and without real explanation; the happy ending is very sudden and baseless.

All in all
It is really sad, actually, it was the first Avril Ashton story I didn’t like.

Lucky's mother got herself killed along with her husband (or that was what he thought) when Lucky was just ten-years-old. After that, his aunt raised him. The first time Lucky and Elias met each other, Lucky was sixteen and Elias was twenty-eight. Lucky'd run away from his aunt’s house to go to see his parents’ house for the last time (it was up for sale). But Elias found him there, helped him, took care of him and then brought him back to his aunt’s. After that night they saw each other on and off and Lucky was so angry with Elias for leaving him every time. When Elias was back for good, Lucky couldn't trust him. Elias’s departure made him feel unimportant as if what they shared wasn’t important enough to warrant a goodbye. He needed a stable family, a husband with kids. Finally, he got what he wanted but with a tinny tiny problem! He doesn’t know his life is based on a lie! A BIG lie! He doesn’t know his husband is the reason for his misery and devastation! After 10 years living with his husband, he finds that he doesn’t know Elias as well as he thought!

Well, like all Ms. Ashton’s works that I’ve read so far I liked this one too! Her writing makes your heart ache/break, the angst, so emotional. It made you feel something. So good! But my issue with this one was I couldn’t understand how/when they fell for each other (it was like so sudden) and that Lucky forgave Elias so soon and so easily! I expected him to be harder on Elias!

Told in dual POV, 3rd person. It’s the third installment in the "Run This Town" series, with characters crossover. And it’s better if you read it in order. It’s well-written, angsty and emotional. All in all, I really enjoyed it and hope you like it as well!

re-read January 2025

Starting the new year like I ended the last. With a re-read. Loved it all over again. And hell, I love this cover!

4.5***** stars

Gawd I loved this book. Probably bc it evolves around some of my fav tropes - secret identity and troubled relationship (it’s almost as exquisite as an intense second chance, if you ask me). And this one was troubled, alright. First the denial to give them both a relationship to begin with FOR YEARS and then the ultimate heartbreak after 10 yrs of commitment when all the lies and secrets come out. Shit that was delicious and thrilling af.

“After what I’d done to you, how fucked up was I to be feeling what I was feeling for you?”

“What were you feeling?”

“[…] Like I was meant to be near you, with you. Like loving you was the greatest mistake I’d continue to make over and over without regret.”

♡♡

***********

And WOW, my mind is reeling with how everyone and everything is connected over all this author’s series. You really have to have a good memory to remember it all and piece together. Again, wow!

Haha, and somehow I ended up reading this all in reverse as the author loves to cross-over her characters from one series to another *lol - but somehow I loved for this one that I already knew who these two other couples were and how they are connected even if „Unmask You“ would be the first in the events.

Books connected to this story, I’ve also read:

Scars and Secrets - (Loose Ends #1)
Van (the FBI-agent whose life Elias saved) & Levi ♡

Call The Coroner - (Staniel #1 & #2)
Stavros (Elisas’s Ex and employer) & Daniel (Levi’s older brother)

“You think I won’t douse this world, yours and mine, in gasoline and watch it burn to ensure he has whatever he needs?”

I love this quote from Elias. It’s this threat Stavros remembers when he finds himself suddenly in a very similar situation in Dig Your Grave.

"You still want me." [...]"And I haven't stopped needing you, Lucky Mousasi.

Why this book could possibly be my favorite book in the series: a gush study

by SheReadsALot

Ladies and gents, it's well known that I love redheads. And I love assassins.

If I got to describe my top qualities in a perfect book hero for me, he would be gruff, very dexterous with a gun or sword, not much for talking, stalks the one he loves, possessive and tatted, kicks mega ass and pounds ass like a champ. A bad guy of sorts.

An accent would be tops.

Guess who got read that character with all those qualities?

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elias is my guy. Elias, my Scottish ginger assassin that killed and was ruthless and his heart only beats for one guy... it was like this was written for me!

Do you know how many times I had to stop writing this review to squeal some more on what I just read? Or that I've practically re-read the entire book after reading it?

The book starts with a mysterious encounter between newly turned 16 year old Lucky Mousasi and 28 year old Elias (Don't worry nothing happens sexually until everyone is good and legal - unclutch your pearls) Orphan Lucky returns to his old house in Long Island, breaks in actually, and just wanted to reminisce on his old life one last time as he's learned his house is on the market. His guardians, an aunt and uncle in New Jersey aren't the nicest and he wants some time alone.

Enter my man Elias (I think I'll be referring to him as such for the rest of this review)(apologies Lucky, you can have him back at the end of the review). With a flash light and gun in the face, Lucky's world changes. Elias doesn't give up much info on what he's doing in the empty home. But he learns it's the teenager's birthday and helps him find some comfort with a warm blanket and warm food for his empty stomach.

Poor Lucky ran away from his aunt's house and just doesn't feel like he fits in anywhere. He cries and opens up about his troubles to the lumbersexual ginger man who is willing to give him an open ear and not much else.

It was love at first sight that night in Long Island for Lucky.

And he pines for that older guy who causally rebuffed him for years. Elias drops in at different spots in his life such as high school graduation, family death. Always there when he really needs him for a day or hours, like a silent avenging guardian angel.

At 21 years old, things finally goes Lucky's way. Sweet Cheesus did the stalking and mutual attraction finally come to a head.

Elias shook. Face red, arousal had him looking a big snarling best. Lucky loved that, wanted all that on him, concentrated on him.

Hot deflowering alert!

Both men have broken pasts, shared past sex worker issues. Even though Elias doesn't share much about himself, Lucky can't deny he wants the man. It's hard to get a bead on Elias. But the want is there. And this stalking, cat and mouse game continues a little longer until Elias takes his man and never lets him go.

"You still want me." [...]"And I haven't stopped needing you, Lucky Mousasi.

I had questions about My Elias and Lucky's blind eye to this mysterious guy popping in and out of his life. They did get answered (mostly). The author continues her hot writing style. The men are passionate, violent and a little melodramatic. And it's a reunion of sorts: Is and Reggie mainly, with a side of Tek and sprinkle of Rush (I missed that crazy fucker).

Can this be read as a standalone? Technically but I wouldn't recommend it. Follow Run This Town series in order for the maximum effect. There was a big bombshell to a mystery from book #2 finally answered.

There is suspense too to go along with the pulsing action and hot sex. Felching, Exhibitionism, Voyeurism and DP for the smutsters. And for an established couple, this was verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry hawt.

-"That remains the hardest thing I've ever done, walking away when all I wanted was to undress and climb back under those covers with you. To slip and slide right back inside your body and claim you again, mark you as mine again. Because you were then and you are now, mine.

"On your feet. I want your jeans around your ankles and your ass spread. I want to feel you clench around my tongue as I eat your ass. You're gonna come on my face."

Mon dieu! The dirty talk was a plus! ;D

The action arc might've read a little rushed but overall it fits. Because more time was given to Lucky and My Elias's relationship formation, I'll ignore it. (And the soap opera feels that creeped up at times) If this was a movie, I'd have to buy multiple copies to watch on repeat. It has romance, drama, action and a ginger lead!!

I'll definitely will reread in the future. I don't want to call it before finishing this series (hell I don't want to let go of this couple now) but this is possibly my favorite.

Recommended series if you like your protags violent, possessive, demanding and passionate for their one and only.

5 Stars!

Third book into this series and it's still going strong. Well, for me at least.

This installment was more emotional and pulled at the heart strings way more than the previous books. But when there is a kid involved how can you not get all mushy and teary eyed.

Ten years is a long time to keep secrets from your husband. And these aren't some harmless little white lies. These are life altering secrets that can ruin lives. And they do. Elias's world is destroyed when his house is invaded with his husband and child home unprotected. Masked men beat and terrorize his husband while another holds his screaming daughter. Let me tell y'all, I was on the edge of my seat as Lucky was on the phone with his husband telling him there were men in their house. I was freaking out when he was in his daughters room and heard these men kicking doors in just down the hall. I held my breath as Lucky scrambled to get the gun from under his daughters crib as the men kicked in their babies bedroom door. My heart about beat outta my chest as they took his daughter from her bed. And then my heart broke for Lucky when these same men told Lucky one of Elias's secrets that absolutely broke him. Ugh! I mean talk about an emotional rollercoaster. THIS book is that and so much more. How could Lucky ever stay? How could he still love this man? How could he ever forgive him? READ THE BOOK! LOL
The first book was dirty and disturbing. The second book was all heart and sweetness. THIS book was heart wrenching and edge of your seat good. Loving this author and her stories. It's a must read dolls. But start from the beginning and read her books in order or you might get lost a bit.

Happy reading dolls! xx

well...that's disappointing. 💀

i had loved, or at least enjoyed, the first few Avril Ashton books i've picked up but i guess i'm not always gonna like every book of an author. i just couldn't feel the connection between Elias and Lucky at all. even the way their story began was strange to me but i let it go bc i thought i could still like the actual romance once it finally started and... i didn't feel a thing. 😐

Yasssss! So much YASSS!

This was Avril Ashton at her finest. I can't play, I'm a huge fan. And this was back to them Sinner roots. Nobody writes the "grey area" bad boy romance like this talented author and goddamn did she work this one out. I've been a fan a long time and this just was such a PERF representation of why that is so. Kudos on a fabulous, gut wrenching, sexy as fuck story, Av.

My reward for having read book #2...

'(Watch Me) Unmask You' is the third book in Avril Ashton's 'Run This Town' series and right now I'm thinking if you read book two this is your reward for having done that because 'HOLY CRAP' this book is ridiculously better than the second one.

I honestly don't even know where to begin. Oh...wait, I do know where to begin. Thank you Ele for telling me how much better you liked this book than book 2 because there were more than a few times that I found myself muttering 'Ele said book 3 was her favorite so it's got to get better after this one.' that was my mantra 'because Ele said so.' and Ele was right.

There was way more plot and it was way more interesting. I got to find out more about Tek. Hopefully we'll get the whole story about him and Quinn in '(Watch Me) Save You' book #4 in this series and unfortunately not yet released but if it's as good as this one, I'll happily wait.

Back to our story. This is Elias's story and he's floated around the fringes of books 1 & 2 but now he gets centre stage and we find out about him and his husband Lucky. Their story is dark and filled with secrets and lies and murder and love. I wasn't sure that I could like Elias any more after I began to discover and realize some of the shit he'd done because at times it was seriously fu*ked up and Lucky was just...well, he was Lucky and he was unique and strong and he deserved to have someone special. I really, really adored him. But surprisingly by the time the dust had settled I felt like Lucky was really...well for want of a better word...lucky to have Elias because he'd gotten what he deserved...someone special. I would never want the person I love to have to do the things that Elias did but to know that someone loved me enough to be willing to do whatever it took to keep me safe and make me happy even if what it took was their safety, their well being and happiness...well that's pretty humbling and amazing to know that you mean that much to even just one person.

If you've read book 2 and are thinking maybe now's the time to quit (yes, I did have that thought) hang in there because this right here is your reward.

Oh and before I forget can I just say 'Mad girl' is the cutest nickname ever. Every time Elias or Lucky called Maddie that I just smiled and laughed...then again maybe my sense of humor is slightly warped, who knows?

This was my favorite book ,not only of this series but probably of all Avril Ashton's books. The blurb prepared me for an established relationship but what i got was so much more. This is the story of Elias and Lucky.

The first 45 % of the book focuses on how the couple met and their journey until now.It is not a hearts and flowers story. It is a walk through hell, with Elias walking in and out of Lucky's life without reveiling his secrets and Lucky trying to keep him.

“Fuck you, he snarled. For always fucking leaving.”
“Fuck you more,” he said, soft, so soft. “For coming back.”

Now, ten years later, Elias and Lucky are married and have a little girl.

Elias has made a deal with the devil and keeps leading the life of a killer without his husband knowing.Until one day, it all comes crushing down and all the secrets of the past and present come to light. And these secrets were so much more than I expected. The author surprised me there and i really love it when an author surpises me at every turn. As the blurb says, Lucky takes the kid and leaves.Their separation scene was gut wrenching

"Don’t walk away from me, Lucky, I won’t survive it.When you hurt I hurt. When you bleed I bleed."

I really felt the connection between the MCs mostly because the author took the time to build their relationship slowly through the years.Their love was strong and the chemistry off the charts. The sex was filthy and holy mother all dirty talkers!

But, make no mistake...these are not your typical heroes. They are cruel, merciless and they kill in a blink of the eye just like every Avril Ashton hero...

Tek, Is and Reggie make an appearence as well as Dima (briefly).

Overall, an amazing read

P.S I 've been waiting for Quinn's story since book one. Now, we already know that the author will pair him with Tek in the next book.I'm SO curious to see how this is going to work out since we see in this book how messed up Tek is

Yes yes yes, very much enjoyed this one! I loved Elias' stalkers approach to Lucky, yes it was twisted but you don't read this series unless that's something you like. The age gap was pretty hot too!

The progression of their relationship was really wonderful, I was so glad it wasn't done in flashbacks. Their connection and love felt like a physical thing and yes it hurt when they hurt but you also knew they couldn't live without each other, so the stressful moments felt less stressful.

Boy oh boy this sex was *shivers* so rough and dirty... sooooo much dirty talk.... sooo much cum eating.... sooooo good!! If your not interested in the story, just read it for the sex alone, it's worth it!

I just finished book 2 and everything is fresh in my mind..dare I roll right into book 3?
I usually like to put space in between my series reads tho. (especially if I wasn't overly thrilled with the previous book.) I hate to have the annoyance or whatever follow me into a new book.

hmmm....

✖️SHOCK!✖️

Wow😱I seriously wasn't expecting that plot-twist despite the blurb!😱😱

At first I wasn't really into the story, just halfway taken. But the second half of the book took me by surprise and took my breath away. Although the first book of the series is still my best, this one isn't that far behind.

♡This was a story of love, pain and monsters.
It wasn't easy, but it was worth it.♡

OMG! This book killed me. So many secrets, oy!, but still a fantastic and enjoyable read.

Ms Av has the unique ability to make you feel what the characters are feeling. She also doesn't shy away from hard issues. What do you when your world suddenly comes crashing down on you? What do you do when you find that your entire life has been based on a lie?

The interactions between Elias and Lucky were heartfelt and romantic, and when all hell broke loose, you could feel Lucky's pain. Damn, I felt for the poor guy. The interactions between Lucky and Elias in the aftermath was just too damn painful. It was heartfelt and heartbreaking. But it... had to be said and done.

I love that this book deals with the issue of second chances, as well as undying and unconditional love. Do you grant one or walk away? When do you say enough is enough? Do you stick through and hold on to your marriage vows/commitment or do you just cut your losses and never look back? When everything falls apart, do you throw your hands up in the air and give up or do you fight for your love? Do you accept your partner for who they are - the good, the bad, and the ugly? This book will make you think.

Of course, I loved the appearance of our boys Is and Reggie. Dima showed up too, but for only a second, which was sad 'cos I wanted more of him. Come to think of it, X was absent :( Oh well...

Anyways, before I round up, let me just say this book reminds me of Syren (from A Sinner Born) and Shane (from Sinner, Savior). Syren had to endure a lot of heartache and pain for those he loved, while Shane had to accept all of Pablo. So did Elias and Lucky.

If you're looking for characters who aren't perfect, and yet would go to hell and back for their family and friends, this is your book. If you're looking for a book where the love is gritty and messy and complicated, this is your book. If you're looking for a book where you can't wait to read it over again because it was so good, this is your book.

Ms Av, you are a very talented goddess and I absolutely LOVE our boys...keep 'em coming :)

This book is the epitome of angst! I loved the plot and Elias and Lucky are two of the most interesting characters I've ever read about. Loved the age gap, the hurt/comfort part and that the first half of the book was about how they both met. Their lovestory is definitely one of the most intense relationships ever.

This book gets a 4+. Only reason why I'm not giving it a 5+ is because their sex was a tiny little bit too 'messy' for my liking ^^

*** The amazing series continues with a fierce, intense, raw, powerful, drama laden tale, with a whole lotta hot M/M sex scenes. *** Wow, and they are ignitable ! * Lucky, hazel-eyed, dark, needed help.

Both his parents were killed, his life sucks, and he yearns for a permanent home, love, and family.
Elias, "Scarlet", is an assassin, underground, hardcore, laden with secrets.

He aids Lucky and becomes obsessed, watches from afar, and deeply cares for him. These two main characters are breathtaking. Elias is cruel in his work, but can be caring, loving to Lucky, but he holds back, because he feels he's not good enough for him. To Lucky, Scarlet is every dream he's dreamed, strong protective and deep.
Some dreams came true.

It is wonderful to see these men progress.

The previous book's people are fun to see again, as their steadfastness as friends in times of need.
Beautifully written, detailed descriptions, with violence, erotic, raw sex, and the tale is powerful. You will long remember this journey.
Magnificent ! ENJOY !!!

Wow, I'm blown away by the end of the book. Let me say Avril is a damn sadist. She saved the best for last. At the end of this book she had a sneak preview of Tek & Qhuinn's book dude it's going to be so freaking good I can't way. Tek might move to the no 1. spot in eff'd up situations he just might have pushed Dima from the no 1. spot. Enough with them because I'm just going to drive myself crazy. I really enjoyed this book. I really liked the Lucky stuck to his guns the entire time. I mean he persevered through all of the madness and still was true to himself. Elias was such a bad ass. He's that silent, sexy buy deadly type until you mess with his family.

I love that these two were kinda of established way before the story got heavy. I didn't know what role Elias really played in Lucky's life, but when the stuff hit the fan I was shocked. I didn't see it coming as far as that. Plus you throw in some lovely faces like Israel & Reggie, then Dutch & Van (<-- I just want a novella of these two, the situation has reached new highs in my mind) and you are bound to get some craziness.

Usually I'm all about the smutty goodness with Avril's books, and while it had it's fair share of damn son! I enjoyed the plot so much more in this one. It had some surprises, revelations, and always the love at the end. I can't stop thinking of Tek now because I ended the book with him on my mind, I'm pretty sure the series is going to go out with a bang! I can't wait.

Wow. Just wow. I thought I'm gonna read an established couple. Ok, Let's just say I tend to get bored with that plot. But no. They're not established-couple. Yet.

This was awesome. I'm not bored at all. I read every damn thing. I feel like there's no filler. No wasted scene. Everything is important. I'm an emotional mess while reading this. But it's okay. I know I'll get my HEA.

My god, I thought Dima and X are my favorite couple in this series. I'm confused now. In a good way. :))

I suggest you don't read this as a stand alone. Oh, you're just gonna miss all the fun.^^

This is the third book in this (Watch Me)series and boy what a follow-up.

As usual, the sex in the book is hot. I think by now we all know that Ms. Ashton can write the hell out of a sex scene, but honestly, that's not what even draws you to this book. For me the intricate weaving of the story that reaches as far back as Ms. Ashton's Sinners' series is what really did it for me. If you're into mystery and intricate plot lines, mixed in with hot sexy times between brazenly bold men, then (Watch Me) Unmask you is definitely the book for you.

I had a mix feeling about this book, which only deteriorated as I approached the end.
The premise sounded interesting enough, and I had like other books by this author before so I had high hope. From the start, there were elements that ticked all the boxes for me. Sadly, this only last for half of the book. :/

And then there are the bad - that just kept on building up as the book progress:

- Lucky.

- Elias. I like my share of psychotic cold-blood killer characters but he was so inconsistence and just simply rubbed me the wrong way. Oh and let's not forget the clinginess.

- Then there is the kid, whose sole existence was as a plotting devise spice up the drama.

- The plot and book structure. *Deep sigh* This book has a long start. In fact the actual plot probably started around the 40-ish% point. But it's not the worst I have been through, and the introduction was interesting enough to build the foundation for the characters. I just find the book spent far too long on their reunion. When the plot finally start, it's when the author pull out the full soap opera gangster style drama with all the gimmicky romance just popping out from all corner between all the members it seemed. The actual violence were told to us rather than showing, unless it was when Elias went on a killing rampange to showed his "love." I understand that at the end of the day, this is a romance novel. But I've seen Avril done good thriller with solid research and believable representation of gangsters. It’s sad to see the premise and her potential was lost in this elaborated pwp.

- The sex. Aforementioned, I enjoyed half of the sex here due to the kink it presented. BUT. Even that started to get stall when we get ANOTHER chapter of sex right after another, with the plot acting as a backdrop. Once again, sex seemed to be the only tool to convey love between the characters when it shouldn't be. There is absolutely no emotion behind them, all I taken out from each scene was that they are sexually compatible and the author was trying to play up the possessive trope. The impromptu jealousy when the plot felt fitted was hypocritical as hell.

- The resolution.

After a moment of reflection, the best analogy I can come up for this book is that time gay porn decided to make a parody of son of anarchy.

Whew! what a ride!

Rule 1: Do not mess with Elias Kote.
Rule 2: Refer to Rule 1

Lucky and Elias seemed to be the perfect couple...

Turns out Lucky and Elias had history that went way back beginning as hero worship for a while there until it turned into something more.

Personally, with the way Elias kept vanishing and reappearing, I wouldn't have taken him back into my life period. But even if that were to ever happen, it wouldn't happen without a serious conversation about what EXACTLY he was up to while away. That would've been my ultimatum.

Anyway...all was rosy until ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE! 😮‍💨😮‍💨

To say it was chaotic would be an understatement and wonder of all wonders, I started to feel bad for Elias and after finding out what he did for Lucky, I was firmly in his corner.

This was another brilliant installment in the series based on the great story telling. I liked the way the story was structured. It gave the plot more depth and made you understand the strength of emotion between the MCs

It also had great characters and personally gave me the first glimpse of Stavros(which made me understand why Elias was right to be the way he was in "Dig your Grave"..Stavros was just so unlikeable 😂😂)

Okay on to Tek's!

Favorite book in the series.

This book is kinda hard because besides the age difference the beginning of the relationship was kinda weird. I felt like it came out of nowhere, One minute Elias was a guy that helped Lucky and the next he was mad because he left him and I was like "does he even have reasons to be mad?" idk, it was weird.

I liked that Elias knew what he was doing was wrong and he even tried to give Lucky time to grow up and make his decision, at some extent he gave him freedom.
The lies didn't bother me, I understood Elias reasons but for such a smart man he was kind of naive in not giving Lucky a better preparation or security. he IS a killer, he surely has more enemies than just his bosses, not cool bro.
Lucky's reaction was understable too, he only had good memories of his parents and childhood with them. I did think he forgave Elias kinda quick, I liked that he asked for a divorce because it was proof to Elias that he fucked up pretty big but a few pages later everything's fine so was kind of fast.

Re-read: March 9, 2017 - just as good the second time around!

***************************************************
Original read: Oct 2016

I'm not gonna lie, I'm addicted to Avril Asthon's bad boy series....All of them! No one writes the gritty violent lifestyle like she does and OMG it's always hella hott!!! Elias' story was simply perfect, and starting the story by explaining the past was crucial for the reader to know how he and Lucky met (as they were already married in the prior book).

I'm always amazed at how much I end up loving Av's band of criminals and the fact that they are not whitewashed, and miraculously redeemed, by the end of the story is even better.

I also LOVE the diversity in all her books and as a Caribbean native I am even happier when I see the islands and/or culture represented.

Great job Ms Ashton!

These books by Avril Ashton keep blowing me away! This one follows a romance over the course of 17 years. There's drama, there's action, and it made me feel things. I'll soon get onto the next book in series.
